Good luck! Sorry to hear it just overheated, however do know that there's multiple causes for overheating

@@adventureoflinkmk2 I noticed the coolant was lookin pretty dirty despite a fresh top up, so I think when I topped it up (it was very low) it let loose some old sealant and either plugged the radiator or thermostat up, either way it's definitely not running coolant properly and its gotta be from filling it up somehow that's the only change. She's been running fine for about 100 miles with no real change in driving behaviour

Thanks so much! Just did this, not even sure if my celica needed it but it was having trouble warming up.

You're welcome.. fwiw this should be changed out when you change the wooder pump and timing belt as preventative maintenance (the thermostat is encased in the wooder pump housing, just FYI)

FYI. It’s exactly the same on 3S-FE, 3S-GE and 3S-GTE engines. In fact, I think it’s even the same part numbers. So that covers MR2s and Celicas as well.

The thing below the lower nut you removed is really close to my stud, i cant get a socket on there and im not sure if the housing will come off with it in the way
