  • A review of the new Walther PDP in 9mm. I also compare it to the PPQ, P99, and P99 Compact.
    Forgot to mention in the video, but another upgrade of the PDP over the PPQ/P99 is that the slide has been redesigned by Walther to help reduce recoil a bit. The other upgrades are the lighter trigger, aggressive slide serrations, aggressive grip texturing, and the fact that it's optics ready out of the box.

    Nice review

      They probably will, since they're discontinuing the P99 and PPQ, and can focus solely on production of the PDP. Customer demand on their website or fb page or a phone call, certainly wouldn't hurt either.

    Good review, i have a ppq m2 and it is my home defense weapon of choice.. it has a ss guide rod trijicon hds and a tlr8 right at a grand in it including the price for the gun definitely will not sell it especially since they are not manufacturing it any longer... this pdp has my attention might have to sell my g19 js..

    Actually, the Canik TP9 is cloned after the Walther P99, and, in fact, that's why Canik pistol models trigger pulls are famous for being so smooth.

    I think canik has a trigger system like the p99. I'm having Feeding problems with my compact, I think the canik elite or their competition and the cz p10 series has a better trigger than the ppq / pdp. I ride the slide stop so it doesn't lock back on last round witch is just my shooting grip . I will probably sell mine .I love the texture on the grip, feels good in the hand .I didn't think I would like the monster tire Serrations on the slide but I really like them. The only other walther I have is a pp 380 . For a duty gun I don't know why they went with adjustable rear sights thanks for the review

      Never fired a Canik, I've heard they are good guns though

    I believe the Canik TP9 DA has a very similar trigger to the P99

    I’m sticking to my P99c, P99 and PPQ M1. I can use my 15 , 17 and 20 rd mags in all of them. No need for a PDP at this point. I was hoping for a gun to compete with the P365 and the Hellcat.

      My guess is Walther will release a subcompact variant

    Is there a notice difference between ppq and pdp with muzzle flip and follow up shots? I've carried the ppq for 9 years.

    One minor correction...the Walther P99 AS feature is the extremely looooong first trigger pull, not a 'Light' trigger pull weight, when in single action. The anti stress feature is in double action, slide not racked but round in the chamber, with the really long pull, so you have a little more time to think about if you want to actually fire the gun or not.

    • @nickoetken1122
      @nickoetken1122  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the AS mode basically makes the double action mode lighter so the gun is easier to shoot but also safer to carry than SA

    • @dustinmatthews387
      @dustinmatthews387 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nickoetken1122 no, it makes the trigger pull heavier again, as well as really long, as if the chamber was cleared and trigger all the way forward. Rack your slide then press the decocker...the trigger springs forward again, making it heavier and further to squeeze back to fire the gun.

    • @dustinmatthews387
      @dustinmatthews387 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      See, It wouldn't be all that 'Anti-Stress'- if it were a light trigger weight with a shortened trigger pull, on its way to go bang! Anti Stress requires the trigger to be more difficult to fire, and that means decocking it with a round in the chamber, defaulting the settings back to double action. Single action has the trigger back a notch, with, as you know, a much lighter trigger pull weight... something you don't want, when you're stressed out not knowing whether to fire the gun or not.

    Is this the 4” 15 rd PDP compact ?

    Well done, Sir!
    Just curious, why did you not mention the PPS and CCP that came after the P-99?
    As for the PPQ -- I did not like the first edition & gave it no further thought.
    The PDP is by far the best pistol Walther has made since the P-38 & PPK (IMHO).
    Be well!

      Thank you - I decided to focus the video on the PDP and the P99-family of handguns overall. I do own the PPS and did a separate video on it. I don't own the CCP, but seeing that the PPS is already a great single stack 9mm I don't really see the reason for me to own one.

      I've had not much luck with the CCP. It's "retarded blow-back" system using a gas piston really makes it a chore to clean up after several hundred rounds. It is also not particularly accurate in my estimation.
      Thanks for the quick reply.
      Be well, Sir!

    Thanks for the review! Love Walther with all my hear but will not buy anything without ambidextrous paddle mag release. Sad they caved to that doofus side of the US market since every US person that tries it, eventually likes it better.
