Thanks Jody for the suggestions. I bought Casio Bond watch for $15 shipped. Took it on my 2 week vacation,8 hour time change from where I live. Put the watch on, did not take it off for 2 weeks. Wore it in shower, in rivers and sea. Luggage banging against the watch. Wore it to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Performed perfect. Someone at dinner wanted to know what time it was in Hawaii, answered her question, while she sat next to a guy wearing Rolex. It was hilarious. Best time with Casio.

@@jeffj318 I think that the DATE & TIME on this CASIO AE1200 watch should be a larger size. There is some wasted real estate space on this watch. The DATE and TIME on the CASIO model W96H-1BV is a much larger size. I can see the TIME on it easily from 1 meter away !
The CASIO W96H-1BV is my favorite digital watch because it shows the TIME, DATE, DAY and YEAR all on the face without having to push any buttons for selection.
You look at this watch and it shows everything all at once.... though the CASIO AE1200 watch is better when traveling to different countries.
I do like the CASIO AE1200 and decided to buy one because of it's many features. I am going to modify it with the all metal SKXmod company watch kit.

In case you wanna nerd out 🤓 LCD test that will illuminate every possible segment of the LCD display. This can help you determine if there is any damage to a particular display function that might prevent you from knowing if it’s activated or not. This is also a neat way to see all of the hidden display features embedded in your watch.
To access LCD diagnostic mode:
In timekeeping mode, press buttons (A), (C) and (D) simultaneously
All segments of the LCD display will activate
Press (D) to cycle through display test modes
Last screen will show Casio module number
Press any button to return to normal

I bought my "Royale" quite a few years ago - I love it and it's still going strong even after wearing it every day for a month-long stay in hospital. I only took it off for my operation! Wore it in the showers and everything. Great channel, btw - subbed.
Resin one is $22, and the stainless steel is $32 today in the US. Incredible.
The resin version also comes with the black and gold combination, which I just bought.

Casio is incredible with what they can offer for two rolls of quarters. I've always loved their calculators since the FX-260 Solar and I'm just now getting into their watches.
This is the perfect teacher's watch. The 5 alarms give me a heads up 10 mins before the end of every lesson. It attracts questions about the analogue and digital, so that has been a useful little teaching tool for tech-curious little ones that struggle with analogue time. Also the pre-settable countdown timers are a great tool-to-hand for managing timed tasks if, like me, you are rubbish at sensing passing time. If you teach in school, buy it. It's been a godsend.
This video put me over the edge, and picked up one for under $17 on Amazon. Just this week, I picked up the metal version for under $18 to have the pair. Love these. I haven't swapped out the stock band, because I love the way it feels. When the metal version comes, I have a leather coming with it since having it on leather was what really appealed to me.
Had my AE1200WHD since June of 2017. It's my beater. Never gets old though. I love how this thing that cost me just $30 is able to beat the Rolex GMT (world time), the Daytona (stop watch), and Submariner (timer) in terms of functionality. Heck it even laughs in the face of the COSC in terms of sheer accuracy!! It's also 100M water resistant so it could go on some adventures as well.
So yeah, it's truly a watch worthy of Bond.

I owned the G757 Seiko Sports 100, which I bought in Melbourne as a young man in 1983/4. I loved that watch because of the countdown alarm function - what it did visually was awesome for its time. I left it on the window sill of Jimbos brother in law on the Gold Coast, Palm Beach. A bunch of us guys went for a swim and I didn't remember I left it on the sill because as kids we were told never to get your watch wet. Went back a couple of days later but the watch had vanished - never to be seen again. Only watch I ever lost and lamented. Thanks for the review.
Just picked up the metal edition, the bracelet LOOKS amazing for the price, yes its folded and jangly when loose but on - looks awesome!

I believe the AE 2000 is a super valued casio watch. The AE 2000 is 200 m water resistant , world time and as for my 8 1/2 wrist fits like a glove.
Hey Jody, I went with the AE-1300WH, similar from a disctance, very different approach in terms of operating, the timer is count-up. Anyways it's meant for reffing ball games, or timing intervals, but for me it just looks better (geekier). Doesnt have that many reviews online.
Stainless steel bracelet requires a little more patience to size than other brands but kind of a badge of honor to boast you did it yourself. Micro adjustment on such a low cost model is an unexpected bonus. So many high end watches require half links to size properly.
I literally learned how to size links in 5 minutes lmao it's not that hard
Good video, got the silver one in Argos for 18 euros.. great mod starter watch, remove case text with nail varnish remover and also remove internal text easily. The watch looks way better.
I love my Casio royale. For those days that you just want a simple digital watch and for me brings me back in time to my childhood. Great little piece.
I agree that the AE1200 is that good. I've had 2 of them and just purchased a third for 22 USD. It's a practical EDW watch and still one of the best travel watches ever.

This is a great one to mod: 1) Isopropyl alcohol will take off the text, I removed all the exterior text and '5 alarms' from the interior. Just use a microfibre cloth and gently rub till the text is gone. 2) Take the plastic insert out and use a sharp knife to cut out the divisions on the right side. Makes it look a lot more like the Seiko it's based on. 15 minutes work and now you have the watch as it should have left the factory.
I put my silver-one on a brown vintage leather-racing strap (from cheapestnato). Looks incredible, took a wider one, just a little bit cutting is requited to fit the lugs.
And by the way, the bracelett also looks fine switched on the black one.

Hah, I love this watch - it's one of the watches I wear most. It's comfortable, low profile, and very functional. It's become one of my favorite casual knock-around watches, or for cold weather (the low profile makes it fit better under the wrists of my heavy coat). I have several, and keep them as backups in some of my emergency kits.
My budget watch of choice is always armitron. I wear my armitron watch day in and out to work. I work in a freezer with temperatures dipping well below negative 20 degrees. Some watches simply won't function at those temperatures but armitron watches always do. I generally get about 3 years out of them until they are completely beat to death.

Ha hah! I smoked ya Jody, FINALLY! I Got my Royale on the SS bracelet for USD$15 on closeout at my local Walmart. Just happened to walk by the jewelry department a few weeks ago and saw a “roll back” sign with most of the Casios marked 50% off. Most of the G-Shocks worth owning were already gone, but snagged the last silver Royale for $15 on the nose (no sales tax where I live). I win, TWICE, cuz you were the one who originally introduced me to this little gem. How’s that for value my friend? Thanks again!
You can actually increase the sturdiness of this watch by adding a glass-foil onto the plastic watchface to protect it from scratches and impact damages. Like the stuff you'd stick onto your phone display. I did that to mine and it works fantastic. The Display didn't even really get noticeably dim or anything. The amber coloured LEDs in the bottom corner of the LCD makes this watch perfectly readable in darkness. And it's not as blinding as EL backlight would be. The amber colour looks much nicer than this EL teal. I just wish there was a version with an all brushed stainless steel case instead of chromed resin.
After I watched this I immediately bought one for me now I can't wait for it to be delivered
When I bought mine, I wore it for 8 days straight! I have 25 watches and this was the only one that mattered. It’s fantastic!
Bought the stainless steel one to complement by G Shock and Duro for a nice budget 3-watch collection. This watch is amazing. Maybe the greatest there is. I am totally going to rock this with a suit for public presentations. It looks stunning, highly functional and durable, I can use it at night. It also reminds me of the Metal Gear Solid V watch along with the Roger Moore aesthetic. My favorite watch perhaps. If it had to be one, this might be it.

Great review!! Bought the bracelet version first and loved it so much I bought the resin strap version the next day. Turns out... I think this may also be the ultimate pilot watch. The dark amber LEDs don't mess up your night vision. Changing time zones is a single button press away (including Zulu time!) with the ability to always have home time zone in the "ani-digi" display. If I could have different time zones set to 12 or 24 hr rather than one format across the board, it'd be perfect - but otherwise, I'm absolutely loving this watch.
My every day beater that gets knocked about loads at work is this. Love it so much. Have some really nice high end pieces in my collection but this has a really special place in my heart.

I impulse-bought both of these a few months ago, and gave the resin one to my roommate with the caveat that he give it back if he isn't using it. He hasn't given it back. I'm considering getting another one, just because they're so cool.
Great videos! I bought the black version of this one and it arrives tomorrow. I paid $13.50. Though it is not perfect I like the analog time in the upper left. Gives you a visual or even graphical representation of the time left in the day. I also like to do Shortwave radio DXing and being able to display UTC on the digital display and have the upper left anchored on your local time is great for that application.
The one on the bracelet is my preferred work watch. I used to wear my nice ones but this one does the job and I never have to worry when I wack it.
The age 1200 module is interchangeable with the dw291 and one will go into the other because well they’re world timer watches. Casio lends itself quite superbly to being modded.

Update: after your vid, I ended up buying a Casio Royale with a nylon strap.
I bought the black version. I put on an 18 mm thin cloth NATO strap. I had to press the spring bars in to the strap because it is too tight to put on the NATO strap the normal way. This watch is keeping about +8 seconds per month which is very good.
As for the price, I was told this watch cost them a lot more to produce. This watch is for promotion from them. Normally it is impossible have a decent watch like this for much under $100. The quality is great for the price. This watch is probably one of the best bargains out there. I prefer the NATO strap over the plastic one.

I bought one (that plastic version with green map) but in my country is around $30 not $14.
Love my Casio Royale but the metal clasp on the silver one rattled way too much. Had to tape down the push lock clasp to keep it from rattling. I also dont like how 18mm lugs means any and all straps look too skinny on the bulky case.
My solution? Got a two piece 24mm bond nato and trimmed/heat shrinked the two corners down to 18 on the lug holes so the strap flows better with the watch.
I can send pictures to anyone who wants a better fitting nato that doesnt seem too skinny in comparison to the watch.

I have this watch, if you happen to live in Asia then Daiso sells little crappy watches for a dollar or two that come with decent silicone straps that fit it -- might have something similar at the dollar store in the states? I put my silver one on a yellow strap and it looks quite nice! Only problem with the watch is the adjustment buttons are fairly "sharp" -- they never hurt me but they sometimes hurt my SO when I sleep with it on, so careful with that :D It is great for traveling, though sometimes I get confused because it's fairly easy to bump it to the wrong time zone!
I love the complication with that LCD segment pointer clock face there! I wish that was a whole watch, just that but in big, nothing else.
in my "crazy" years I did put one on a 18mm James Bond nato Zulu style
and even on the leather cuff of a Bundstrap.. there are some mods also
from nerds who removed the 2 horizontal bars over that dial.
I have one as well, this black model! I love it. It's quite tough as well since mine was through some heavy wearing. If you want some pictures with it and a more detailed review on how I got it so scratched and worn, I'll try to :) Long live Casio brand, one of the best!

I used the casio F-108WH as my "work watch" for a bit while I was working with children (too many body fluids for an expensive watch). I did put a nato strap on it through, the resin straps make my wrist too sweaty. These low cost casios are great for "beater" watches.
No other brand beats it when it comes to water resistance, at this pricepoint. I go swimming with mine (the stainless bracelet version - the housing is plastic) 3 times a week. "Remarkable watch for the money" For sure ;-)
What I was thinking when I saw this: I thought it would be really fascinating to compare this Daniel Craig Casio watch to the earlier Roger Moore Seiko watch. I’d always found that one intriguing.

I purchased using the link on your Amazon store so thank you again for this and what you do on these videos. Btw....it fits perfectly when I use the tightest micro adjustment setting. Question...what size does that make my wrist? I never measured
Hi, Jody! One of the things I like to do is watch the videos from a couple of years back and see how the prices have held up; in this case, not too bad...you can still get one of these puppies or similar Casios for between $20 and $30, and there are still some in the teens. Amazon has the stainless model for practically the identical price, and the resin strap version for a little over $20US. Interesting to hear you refer to it as a "bed" watch...I have 3 or 4 smaller (36-38mm) watches with either decent lume or a light-up feature that I refer to as bed watches or sleep watches. Funny how prices for a decent digital have come down over the years; I got my first one when I was stationed in the Far East in the mid-70s, and as I recall, it was around $75, a lot of money for a young serviceman at the time, but then, they were the next big thing in watches. I bought one recently. Got it 7 dags ago. Looks good. Yesterday it leaked! 100 m WR and it leaked after 1 sec water from the fosset! Never heard of a Casio leaking. Can't find it on internet either. Bought from a Swedish online store. Chinese knockoff?
I think the problem is "Made in China". My first/other Casio was a Twin Graph II from 1987. Made in JAPAN. Worked in all weathers and conditions for 25 years! This one for 6 days.

I just donated one of these to my local thrift store, they really are the only sub-$20 watch with a countdown timer that I am aware of.

the watch is awesome - what has all these functions...as well as the big thing that I like...Day of the week, date, and MONTH. Very few watches have a full auto calendar with the month..many have the date/and or day of the week...but having all 3 is awesome...and it is perpetual.

I have this watch and the calculator watch by Casio and both are really good they are that light you don't know you are wearing them.
Plus they are a nod back to the eighties when I was growing up, and they were out of my price range as a child.
Although in good old blighty we don't seem to have them as cheap as our American counterparts.
I got the gold or bronze for $20. It's such a cool watch. The alarm sound is loud.

Love the T-Shirt! The video too! Here's a suggestion for one of your next value videos: Casio MTP-SW300L-7AV. Their website says it has a smooth sweeping seconds hand, on Amazon is listed at about 55USD. It would be great if you could take a look at this (or one of his brothers) in one of your videos! I found some videos on TH-cam but I can't really make a clear idea on the seconds hand movement. Seems to be ticking twice or thrice a second... but in most of the videos they don't keep the watch still long enough to get a good look.
And please do keep the value oriented and dollar dazzlers videos coming! I love them!

just got one. i did not like it in the beginning, found it ugly, but it had grown on me. i replaced my f91w with this, mostly due to the countdown time and lights, and the more manlier size. i'm really happy with the casio royale but also kinda sad to abandon my daily wear f91w.
The casio forester velcro band actually fits this really well if that style suites you.

Just wanted to say I got this Casio as a present in silver and seriously its fantastic , Since Christmas day I have been wearing it, it really is a great watch and I recommend anybody that is into collecting watches as a hobby has to get one of these. It seriously is a no brainer. New Year 2021 got to start collecting some of those classic Casio's . G-Shock-Solar 5600 next I think. I was surprised when I saw AE1200 on Norvegian and Malaysian special forces hahahaha. These little fckers are durable as hell.
Just don't wear this watch while wearing bug spray. The deet in the bug spray will actually melt the plastic and rubber! Ask me how I know lol. I ruined a fairly new Casio W-736H-2AV by doing that. Lucky for me I was able to exchange it for another one.
Check google apparently I'm not the only one to make that mistake. But having said that Casio should make the plastics in these watches more durable to everyday chemicals.
