Although you're unlikely to see this comment by this point, just wanted to let you know that this was the video that finally did it. You finally got me to buy not only a Casio, but my first digital watch in about two decades, even after telling myself I would never buy one again. Well done, Jody. Well done indeed.

This is not only one of the best travel watches ever made but one of the best budget watches ever. This is a solid review of an awesome watch. I have 3 of these.

After I gave my brother the black resin version for christmas, I finally got one for myself last week. Super comfy to wear, looks great, and I don't have to either go without a watch or bang around my 20 year old Promaster when I go on bicycle tours. I wish the lug width was wider to play with a few strap choices, but the resin band is perfectly fine to wear to be honest.

I believe there are 8 colors of AE-1200. There's the two with the nylon bands, both green & black but one is inverted from the other (AE1200WHB-1BV and AE1200WHB-3BV). There are two with steel bands, one is the classic Casio Royale (AE1200WHD-1AV), the other is new for 2020 and has a grey bezel (AE1200WHD-7AV). There are two black resin with black resin bands, one with red lettering you have (AE1200WH-1AV), the other with a gold tint, gold lettering, and a green map (AE1200WH-1BV). Two other models new for 2020 maintain the painted resin case but just with a resin band - the bronze one you just ordered (AE1200WH-5AV), and the silver (AE1200WH-1CV).

My dad always loved Casio watches. He has been using his W-800 for 9 years until today.
I'm 26 now & using a Casio almost after 17 years. Previously I had a F91 when I was in primary school. After that I thought automatic watches are the best, then smart watches & now back to Casio.
You need the one that has the world map section in green. Looks amazing

Recommendation: For those who hate the little resin straps… I always buy a comfortable/pliable quality rubber strap. I buy them in 22 mm (some taper some don’t)... Sharp pair of scissors or needle nose cutters you can nip a small square off of each side and then reuse the 18 mm pins supplied with the watch… It’s a great look… As if it was made for the watch… And super comfortable!
You did it Jody, you finally did it. You made me want to buy a Casio. And all it took was a slightly different color variant and band option.
To me an underappreciated casio is the ae-1300, sort of a timer-oriented cousin of the world time-oriented ae-1200
I had been curious about this one. I figured the nylon/leather strap looks damn comfortable. It's cool...It looks more military than outdoorsy to me.
So, I just picked up the all metal version of this watch. I am so stoked! My first watch of significance to me was a Seiko G757-4050 Sports 100. It is that watch but better.
Was thinking about watch stories and how a version of this style of watch was where it all started for me. Then came the quartz Kinetic. Finally got my hands on a low-end spring drive to complete the cycle!

I bought a black one, didn’t care for the resin band. Then I bought a green one and switched the band with the black one, and gave away the then green one with the resin band...and now I thoroughly enjoy the black one with the more comfortable nylon band. And then I bought a silver one just because I needed it. So now I have two...which is just enough. They are really comfortable, fun, functional watches, especially for travel.
I now have an OCD induced migraine due to those 3 Royales having the running seconds JUST out of synch. Thanks Jody.

GD350 : Vibrating alarm! Wakes me up every time. Also it has the best negative display. ($90)
GW7900B: The cheapest G-Shock with tough solar and atomic time keeping ($100).
I received the GShock 350 yesterday great watch. Don't have the biggest wrists but looks okay.
I actually have one that is black with the Illuminator and world time text in gold, the really cool part for me is that the world map is green. I have a green NATO on it with black hardware . It’s my favorite one of my three AE’s . Your video made me go get it out . I haven’t had it on for awhile. Thanks again buddy

I'm not really a big fan of digital watches. I only have a couple. But I see a new JOMW video is up, so I have to watch it. Great review as always mate.
Why do so many reviews of this watch fail to mention that calender function is perpetual? For those that don't know what that means, once the calendar is set you don't have to worry about adjusting the calendar at the end of the months that end in 28, 29, or 30. It also keeps track during leap years. It's my favorite complication on this watch.
I just got this watch. And oh man I'm in love.
For addition, the buckle is actually engraved, but it is in the inner side of it. Not sure why they did that
Had this watch for a couple of years. It's a great watch but has a few cons: Crystal scratches easily and is very hard/impossible to buff out, and after a bit of abuse the strap gets mangled. I recently bought a Skmei Royale and put the casio module inside it. Very easy mod!
The green one looks awesome with a Vario pecan brown leather strap made specifically for the Casio Royale.
I got that exact model and the green one with black frame , those casio have an amazing value and looks great
Just got mine, not sure why I didn't get one sooner, it's absolutely amazing. I got the amber screen one, which is really cool. The only thing I don't really like about it is the resin strap, it feels a bit too flimsy. I might pick up the black strap of this green one, looks really cool, or maybe a generic leather one with some adjustments? Not sure :D

People do spend a lot of money on things these days. I am still happy with my Casio DPX-300 from 1992. Just replace the battery every 11 years or so, and it keeps on doing its job.
CASIO is the only watch company that uses both Analog and digital together which is a really cool idea and I'm surprised that nobody else has taken this onboard
As far s the green and black goes, I actually think the predominantly green with black bezel looks better than the one you showed in this video.
The Casio AE1200WH, also widely known as the Casio Royale, has a modding community that has embraced this inexpensive copy of a Seiko G757, which was worn by Roger Moore in the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy and turned it into a bit of a subculture of it's own. I have a AE1200WH-1A that I've easily taken apart, scrubbed almost ALL that janky-looking lettering off except for the Casio name with 91% Isopropyl alcohol and a Q-Tip, then filled the case with silicone oil before reassembly and I replaced the band with a really nice blue leather with tan twine stitching, Ritche watchband I paid $20 for on Amazon. It's so cool! I get a LOT of compliments on it and it's actually a much more interesting conversation piece because of what it is, than the same common Rolex you see all the time that needs no introduction.
I scored with a Walmart clearance and got the resin band one for $5 and the steel for $7. I was going to flip the steel on ebay but somehow haven't gotten around to doing it.
How much could you make from flipping it? How much is the shipping?
Ended up with my share of Casio. I just got a Casio calculator the one I used to have back in the day it makes my third one of the same watch the Marty McFly calculator watch
I’ve got an older one that my wife found at a yard sale for $3! It has an orange resin band with a silver frame around the face. If I could just figure out how to get it out of military time I might actually wear it! LOL. great video as always Jody!!!
I bought a AQ-S810W-2A2VCF tough solar on clearance for 13.00$ usd at Walmart. They may have marked it wrong, but oh well. It's a fantastic outdoor activities type watch.
Another awesome t shirt brother. I have a watch that would arguably be better for under 15.00. It’s the F91W. It takes beating and keeps on ticking. Trust me. I did a mini series on that watch.

Yeah I wanted to be disgusted by this video but that is the best Casio I can remember seeing...yet better beaters are a dime-a-dozen and I've never seen a Casio I would wear on the wrist...again. Had a silver one as a kid when living in Vanuatu where the Chinese shops were full of them...a lifelong aversion ever since. I mean they aren't really a watch, they're a Casio, a kitschy objet d'art you either love or hate...and nothing more.
The green one is actually my favourite (The all green one that is).
Mine seems to have a bug , it has changed time and went dead. Pulled the battery, put it back in and it runs fine now. Good daily watch.

I have this one. Always use it in the gym. Does everything i need and has the bonus of bumping into weights without a problem, for half the price of a DW5600.
I owned a similarly styled Seiko when I was 10-12. I thought I was the bee’s knees. “Bond. James Bond...”

I used to wear the silver one daily. Then I got a GWM5610 and never looked back. The Royale now sits in the shower. I didn't like the bracelet very much, but it took me a year to change to the 5610.
So The DW-291H sits between these and G-shocks. Sits much more snuggly to the wrist than a G-shock and has huge legible digits plus 200m water resistence (so an ideal holiday watch). Definitely review one next if you can find the time

This casio i have used while trekking in the Egyptian Sahara and diving up to 25m, it runs flawless.

I have AE-1200WH with that black two piece reinforced zulu strap. Actually the buckle has print Casio China underside of it. I modded my Casio Royale with a scratch resistant protective film (originally intended for cellphone display) to prevent scratches to its display. Excellent travel watch, for three flights and 4 airports in 4 different time zones in one day time. I have traveled from Europe to Hawaii in such manner, and my experience was; you can't find a better travel watch than AE-1200WH with 4 preset time zones... Casio just released 'airport friendly' AE-1200WH-1CV with silver tone case and resin band, less metal than in 2 piece zulu strap (or notorious metal band original Royale has) . My experience about Casio AE-1200WH has been that the best value for money watch what a man can have.
I just bought my black one with a green map. Got it for US$22 from Taobao, the Chinese equivalent of Amazon. Happy with it so far. Toying with the idea of getting the steel version.
Definitely a nice Casio. I already have 3 different styles. Maybe I will be adding a 4th one soon. Them Casios are like chips, instead of saying bet you can't eat just one, we'll say bet you can't own just one. Keep'em coming.
I wish there was a metal case from china. Love this watch but the resin case scratches deep fast.
There is a guy who custom makes bronze cases! Only small scale at the moment, but hopefully for mass market soon.

@@entertainme7523 nope ... don't know but after weeks of usage the watch looks like *****. I switched to orient kamasu and after 10 months the watch looks fine. The strap is scratched but not deep.

I think this one looks very attractive and NATO straps work great on small Casios. I have an F91W that I put on an olive NATO strap and it is an almost weightless watch to wear running.

The SKMEI 1382, which I don't think is in production anymore, is the ultimate incarnation of this watch. It has all the same functions plus a WORKING compass, pedometer, and calorie counter.
I wear this watch as a daily driver when I'm not wearing my Seiko SNK361K1. Jody's not joking, it's the best value for the money, and very easily moddable. I also wear the black on black with the goldish face. Can't recommend it enough. Casio is king on budget watches.

I wish I could tell Casio the count down timer is why I bought this watch. I wish it would automatically cycle so I can set it to chime every 15 minutes.I know a lot of people hate that idea, but I used to have a Casio that did that, and have always missed that feature.

So, interesting that this just showed up as suggested. I was at Wal-Mart the other day and found one of those goldish AE-1200s on the clearance rack for $14. Didnt need it, but had to buy it lol

Had the silver for a couple of years, every day work watch for me, like the look of the “bronze” resin bands usually more comfortable.

My personal favorite Royale. I have bullbars on mine and use it as my hiking and gym watch. I prefer the nylon strap to the stainless or resin.
Jody, the round version Ae1000 black is the pick IMO. It had the much better looking and tactile recessed pushers doesn't appear as nerdy on wrist.

I bought their remain strap version for only $5.45 after tax on a Wal-Mart clearance sale awhile back. I still have it.
I had the casio twin graph which looks similar but having a 100 meter WR on the Casio Royale is much better and a 10 yr battery life even better specs
There's also a grey bezel and dial inlay version, model AE-1200WHD-7AVCF.........Casio-verload!
Having, and regularly wearing, the black and silver versions, I also love these watches.
They really are a great size on my small wrist, not too big or small. I agree there are few digital watches in this size, which is too bad.
Even though the analog clock is small, I really like being able to see the stopwatch and the time at the same time.
I love Nato straps, and these look really bad with a Nato. I've just had to come to terms with it.
I see on Amazon a silver version with a grey face, I might look into that.

Dammit Jody, every time I watch one of your videos, I end up with just one more watch.
Only one problem I've had with the silver royal was I caught the watch on a door handle and the resin holding strap pins hole got stretched and nearly burst the hole holding it. That's the only weakness of the Casio resin case on a metal case the strap pin will pop without damaging the case but with a resin case its the case that gets damaged.
I think the green looks really cool!
