I am physically disabled and I finally got to go to Los Angeles after 10 years for the weekend so I decided between the two parks (Disneyland and Universal) and went with Universal because of Harry Potter. Now they have a similar system to DAS and after what I went through with the stupid red tape plus paying $145 for a regular ticket and $76 for a scooter chair, I swore never to use either park again. They don't want to deal with physically handicapped people to start with, but they want our money and they can be sued for discrimination. So make a handicapped person miserable enough to spend more money on a fast pass or not to come. Gone is the day of Walt Disney who wanted families to be able to go and enjoy a safe and clean amusement park. Now it is over crowded, everything from food to tickets are ridiculous and fights break out all the time. I told my friends I am done. No more Disney and Universal for me.
Disney Sucks, We are a family of six and have been accepted for the DAS pass for my granddaughter. They told us only four could get a return time. The other 2 people were to wait in line until the other four people returned for there return time. So you spend 12,000.00 dollars to go to Disney but have to spend half our time seperated. Sounds like a jolly ole time for 5 days. Disney can kiss my big fat you know what. I will cancel and take my 12,000.00 dollars and give it to a park that cares about the Guest. I hope Disney goes out of business.
My doctors requested for me to get DAS pass for my upcoming trip. Disneyland approved my request. Will note I went ahead with purchasing multipass for all attendees. Really don't wish to use it as an advantage. Just don't wish to end up with a trip to the hospital during my trip which is supposed to be fun.
I’m hoping I’m not bothering you but also praying you can help our family. I am familiar with DAS but not under the new procedures. My husband is disabled and we are in need of help and Disney won’t talk to us until we buy tickets. 😢 I don’t want to spent $1300 and find out this trip for my terminally ill husband can’t go. Thank you and I hope DAS or some other accommodation can be given to him, or unfortunately we will need to cancel our trip. 😢❤
I know you can only apply for DAS if you have valid tickets already. I can also tell you during the interview if initial CM denies you can ask to speak to the medical professional and if still no luck you can speak to the coordinator. You are going to need to be ready to tell them why there 3 recommendations wont work. 1st ride swap, 2nd exit the line and come back 3rd speaking to each line CM. IMO it all depends who you get for the interview and if you are denied you can always call back and reapply. You can also speak to them at the park and tell them I heard the are a lot more approving at the park. If all else fails you can sign up for their genie + service. With the increase of large brawls and smaller fights happening in the parks...as well as the animosity this has instilled among park goers towards those with disabilities...it's only a matter of time before a fight breaks out between someone in the line and someone with a disability re-entering the line.
Which makes what you said interesting because these new "accomodations" are putting people at an increased risk of fights and arguments among park goers as well as heightened stress and potentially exacerbating symptoms of disabilities.
One thing that can help your son combat the asthma is not drinking soda. Not judging but soda actually is one cause behind asthma. So is sugar, processed foods. So healthy made food from home and organic is best! I stopped drinking so sad and asthma has been gone since. Also cut out processed junk and cook at home most days and eat natural foods from the earth :)
Wow, this just screams the exact reasons why getting a pass got harder (other than $$). Universal got more strict as well, videos like this is why it's harder for those that need it. I don't agree with how Disney is handling it, but at the end of the day they are a private business.
As a person with multiple disabilities, I have zero desire to go to Disney again but I am sure that on some family vacation I will end up going... I also struggle with DAS because everyone who is taking about it has used it many, many times. If too many people were using it, people with disabilities created the issue. I hear so much entitlement in these videos (less so yours). Going to disney is a privilege and some people get to go only once in their lives. I feel bad for those who can't get DAS for that once in a lifetime trip, not for people who go multiple times in a year or every year. I also think Disney could have fixed the by dropping back the number of people allowed to use DAS and forcing extra parties to split or pay for the upgraded pass. Your video is the first one I have heard that talked about ride swap, which is much more accommodating than other options I have heard. yes its not fun to split your party, but parents with young kids do it all the time.

They did tell us to let the cast members know at each ride. I visually look normal just with a pretty intense scar on the back of my head due to a tbi suffered 3 years ago.
He has issues that require a DAS. Can I email you or are you willing to share some details of how the DAS works now? I need to find someone who has used it.
I wish you the best and hope this helps.
@@FamilyTimeVlogsFTV I thought you cannot apply at the park any longer in Orlando? If you do they connect you on a smart pad and speak to someone virtual which is the same exact process if you sit at home and do it on your laptop. You're going to waste time if you show up at the gate and try and do it. Oh and yes they keep all of your info in the system so you can call back as many times as you want. The CM can read your history of what was decided previously to calling. It's really just wasting more time.
It stinks. I applied for it while in the park and had a seizure and you know what happened. my sister was told for me to call back when I’m better I called back and guess what different person I was told denied.
So what kind of camera is it?
I would suggest that if you have anxiety and don’t like long lines or people touching you, don’t go to Disney! All Disneyland is, is long lines, crowds, and bottlenecks of people. This is not hard to figure out people.
@@MB-xl8nx I agree just wish they stayed a little more accommodating to people with extreme asthma. One of the worst feelings in the world is not being able to breathe then throw anxiety on top of it gets bad. We are making the most of it though tbh there is hardly any das in the lightning lanes. It’s all people that just bought lightning lanes. We tried it out yesterday. It was OK. On the other hand, there’s a lot of people with wheelchairs in the regular cues now and they get stuck a lot.
@@MB-xl8nx I will definitely be posting another Vlog about my experience and the new DAS procedures. If they switched to IBCCES instead of worrying about padding their pockets with lightning lanes. Things would be a lot smoother in the park.
No. Just no. People have anxiety and still want to be apart of society. There are crowds and lines in and public places. This just corners people who have mental disorders. Just stay home don’t be around people. That is not the solution. Some people need accommodations to help being apart of society more easeful. But being separated from the world is not the answer. That’s where depression deepens. Please be sensitive and use your manners. Unnecessary and uncalled for statement to make to not include people because they have a “problem” with their health. People want to try and be apart of things, even when they have anxiety. I deal with social anxiety but I also deal with depression and being home and away from people is MUCH worse. Be sensitive!

I see a lot of autism tendencys though
No, if Disney was doing this just to make money, they could've gotten rid of DAS altogether
And the ADA?
@@il100374they are ADA compliant. DAS is not a requirement of ADA. They do not have DAS in the water parks for example.
They pretty much have
@@Katie-pw2zoNo they haven't
@@jackwilkinson4911 it's only for people with Autism. I tried again today and even though I have recently collapsed and knocked my head they still wouldn't accept me and her exact words were it's only for Autism and their website states that. I was thinking if this is the case then why don't they just say right at the start, if you don't have autism then don't apply. Whole system is wrong. 😕
The DAS system was being abused.
It’s one disabled person and 7 of their friends and family.
I was at Disneyland 2 weeks ago and people standing in a food line were complaining about the new DAS rules. Claiming they had anxiety and autism issues, but they were perfectly okay standing in line for a food.
If you are going to speak on anxiety you should know that some people with anxiety subconsciously think about how long a wait is (time posted) and it triggers their symptoms.
It’s like people claiming a gun is the bad guy when the person firing the gun at innocent people is the problem.
