Don’t know much about judo but is this throw unique because you are attacking a leg with no weight on it whereas Osotogari and a lot of other judo throws your opponents weight is on the leg your trying to sweep?

Lateral move makes it Okuri Ashi, not de Ashi. De Ashi Barai translates to forward foot sweep, hence sweeping as their foot advances forward 🙂
