The reason why I believe he wouldn't get the coverage in the US is because the US music industry as a whole is run by old white men that wouldn't sanction the messaging that Dave or similar artists have in tracks like this. There seems to be a little more freedom in the UK that enables music like this to be created and gain a platform, although the UK music industry at corporate level is also a 'white male' dominated space. Akala calls this out in one of his Fire in the Booths that you should also check out! As a white guy in my 40s I'm probably not the target audience but Dave is a poet and tells truth to his experience which I think is why it resonates with me, just like when Joni Mitchell would sing about her experiences breaking through in a male dominated space in the 60s, 70s etc. - Check out 'Lesley', 'Panic Attack' live at future festival, 'Heart Attack' and his latest appearance at the Brits 2022 - 'In the Fire' which is a collaboration with other UK artists.
