Hi Dr. Tour you have a problem if you say the earth was not young. You have death in the world before sin. Romans 5:12 is clear. The Bible is also clear that life is in the blood. We also have from the Torah in the ten commandments that God created in six days if you do not believe the day in Genesis was a day.
Does anyone have a thought on Genesis Chapter 2 verse 5? As stated in the video I am in no way certain in the exact dating of the Earth or anything on the Earth. But from this verse it seems at first glance humans were not created millions of years after the words was spoken in Genesis 1:11 of the plants but quite the contrary very closely in at least our understanding of time. It would seem logical for me at least in the creation of the World that God would keep things relatively simple in our understanding of time. We understand how long plants of various types grow. So from reading scripture we would simply understand before the plants “sprung up” God created man. Any further thinking on this would be much appreciated. As always this is not the main focus on the Bible (Word of God) so it is simply a fun discussion to have to more deeply understand our past.
These are two of my favourite Christ following scientists. Both brilliant people. In my opinion we, humans, can only become complete at the moment we step into a holy union with the one true God. To any young person doubting God, I can tell you one thing after having walked 40 years around looking into everything else but the word of God..There is nothing like Him. Nothing compares, and I've literally looked everywhere from Egypt to Nepal..From scientism to gnosticism, but nothing..No buddha, no shiva..nothing comes close to God of the bible. God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said: 'If you have seen Me you have seen the Father'. I can honestly say that I have seen God and it was His mercy alone which gave me true life, life unlike anything I have known before. And time upon time I see others testifying of this same life giving spirit of the one and only true God of the bible. How I wish I hadn't wasted so much time with all that other nonsense, which is why I am writing this comment to younger people. So spare yourself the time and just start with Lord Christ and the living word of God.

Why do you believe that? They're arguing against a straw man, _"can science explain everything?"_ which requires they ignore known limits which _science itself_ tells us about the limit of knowledge -- you know, like the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle? That's a limit to knowledge: we can't know both the exact location and speed of a particle simultaneously. What's the sensible takeaway? Well science tries to step us closer to truth (the set of facts about reality) by relying on evidence (detections of reality), because evidence is our only reliable way of knowing anything. So the correct way of phrasing it isn't that science can know everything (we just saw it can't). The correct statement would be _science will allow us to know everything which can be known._ It's impossible for that to be untrue. By that I mean if you can show some new method science doesn't know which reliably indicates truth -- if you could do that then by definition science would expand to include that method as "evidence", because you'd have shown you were detecting reality accurately! Note the focus of theist conversations around this question is *NEVER* them proving they (a) have some alternative demonstrably-reliable method of knowing things science doesn't know and (b) proving their ideas using that alternate method. That's what tells us it's snake oil they're selling you.

In all fairness to the first question that Dr. Tour answered, scientists do say, "We don't know." The problem is they have to add an addendum to that which is to say, "We don't know, but we do know it wasn't God." But the reality is that the more scientific discoveries we make, the more evidence piles up in favor of the conclusion that an intelligent designer is necessary to make sense of it all. God exists, science proves it.
I love the words of Chuck Missler on this. "The bible is an integrated message system from outside of our time domain" Man cannot possibly even write a 700 to 800 word essay that complies with the pattern of sevens found throughout the bible. Dr Ivan Pannin wrote 43,000 pages of information that proves the bible to be that integrated message system, which Chuck left no doubt with his video "sevens in the bible"

I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation... until they both made this saying true: "The Bible isn't a science textbook, but many treat science textbooks as if they're the Bible." Never does the Bible depict earth as evolving, moving, spinning, orbiting, or ball-like, in any context or genre. When Moses wrote "evening and morning, day ___", he couldn't have been any clearer that he was talking about normal days, not long ages. Even the 4th Commandment about the Sabbath day is based on creation week. And there was no sun for earth to orbit the first few days So neither earth age or earth construction match mainstream "science". Gen. 1 is historical narrative, and the burden of proof that these are just figures of speech lies with old- and ball-earth proponents. If we reject the Bible's depictions of earth shape and age, we must also reject its miracles--- including the Resurrection--- since they too clash with "scientific fact".
Time as we know it did not exist before the fourth day when the constellations, stars, great and lesser lights were placed in the firmament. On the seventh day God preceded to rest from his creative works. The seventh day has never ended. We are still in the seventh day. After Israel left Egypt and they were in the wilderness some of the people, due to lack of faith, were told they would not enter into YHWH’s rest.

Though for John Lennox on the question that came three times. I have heard it said that the Bible is its own best interpreter. Genesis one and two tell of creation. Exodus 20:11 (KJV) Says "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 31:17b "for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed." Sounds like normal days to me. Thanks
It says God rested on the 7th day. But for the sabbath it does not say evening and morning and declare the 'day' ended. So do we become too ridged in defining 'day' in all cases as 24 hours?
Yes, I love hearing about their love for Jesus but Lennox sidesteps the creation story. It was undoubtedly 6 literal days and he talks about interpreting Genesis wrong but not the deep timers interpreting anything wrong or their assumptions.
Problem with that narrative is humanity trying to fit the supernatural God on human terms based on human experience and knowledge. Try to understand this - 1. Modern scientific cosmology and astrophysics concluded that Space, Time and Matter did not exist before the Big Bang 130 billion years ago. 2. Stephen Hawking, after failing to disprove singularity (ie the entire Universe was created out of nothing and before the Big Bang, there existed nothing), was forced to conclude that the initial Power that caused the Big Bang must have existed outside the universe we know. Because He was a committed Atheist, he proposed the idea of a “multiverse” instead of the most obvious - God. 3. When God created the heavens and the earth, He also created Time, Space and Matter. 4. God exists in Heaven (not the heavens) outside Space, Time and Matter. Space, Time and Matter - especially Time - does not limit God so that a Thousand years is like a day to God and a day is like a thousand years. The past, the present and the future is nothing to God so He is omniscient - He sees and knows everything before it happens, when it happens and after it happens. Space does not limit God so that He is everywhere at the same time all the time - His Omnipresence. Matter does not limit God so He can command the elements, multiply bread and fish, make Wine out of water, cause oil to flow from a jug without ending, raise the dead, heal the sick... Become a human being to enter the world He created... That is Jesus Christ, the Lamb slain from the creation of the world. Revelation 13:8 So what kind of day are we talking about. Being inspired by the Holy Spirit, the ancients came up with the Genesis narrative and Moses out down on paper. For God unlimited by the constraints of time, a day is not what His created universe understand it to be and certainly not what the earthly human know it to be. Therefore to take the creation story at literal face value would be a mistake because while it is possible for God to create everything in 7 Earth days, what He chose to do remains a mystery.

The Bible absolutely does tell the age of the Earth; death came into the world after Adam, there can be no death before and a universe billions of years old with life, death, and evolution would mean death and suffering existed before the fall of Man.
Answers in Genesis explains this as well as any ministry of Scientists who believe the Bible. It's very disappointing how many great people , academically speaking, have been duped by the enemy in this area. If adopted to logical thinking....it destroys not only Genesis 1-11....but in fact the whole Bible and of course the Gospel. If Sin and death did not come through one man as the Bible clearly claims...then Sin does not exist and therefore no saviour of mankind is required or could even be conceived of. This is very dangerous theory.

At 2:25:30, I think, why scientists can't readily admit that they don't know, is related to the education system and pride. Giving, having, and/or knowing the answer, is rewarded and promoted, where not having the answer is ridiculed, disrespected or at the least is an embarrassment. It is easier to give an answer that provides an illusion of knowledge, especially when it's theoretical yet devoid proof.

Of course not, but that doesn't mean they will stop trying to. Science is a field that uses logic and fact to find an answer. What can't be explained presently with science can be reasonably and logically explained with commonsense and feasibility.
This is truly awesome!! I am so grateful for the soul searching efforts of both speakers who have spend a tremendous amount of time working to understand the world around them and then sharing that understanding with us. Truly, the oft-described difference between the worlds of science and faith lacks meaning when one has been exposed to the reality that they work hand-in-hand and are part of one great intellectual whole.
The "God of the gaps" argument has always been a silly one because they know that not everything is explained. Even the explanations they offer don't fully explain everything. They will never admit it though. They truly believe that everything can be known.
Lennox doesn't seem to do anything except *apply a 'God/creator' to everything* that he doesn't understand when it's just *not necessary.* And he gives *no further explanation or evidence* for these *claims.* And for this, he's considered to be an outstanding apologist for *not saying very much at all.*
Brilliant talk/lecture! Many of the answers that Dr Lennox are consistent with many of the same answers that I have independently shared with others who have asked me the same/similar questions. The more that I see of Dr. Lennox & Dr. Tour the more impressed that I am in both of them.
It is quite telling that these awestruck admirers of Brother Lennox and Tour are quick to praise them as "Christian scientists" but done of the repliers has called them Saints, or Men of GOD. My reasoning for being a young earth believer is the mere fact that God uses the week of creation as reason for why his chosen people (israel) should only work for six days and rest on the seventh. Its in the 10 commandments. Also i have yet to see good reason to believe the week of creation was 1000 years each. If that were so then Adam would have been dead by the seventh thousand year cycle as he only lived around 900 years. The creature skeletons that are buried in the layers of the earth dont make since to me in the since of use for "ages", as nature wouldnt allow for such intense preservation unless the calamity was as a swift sword. Nature is efficient in its recycling cycles.
I love Dr. Lennox, but there are few areas I take issue with him. His take on young vs old earth is interesting, but flawed. Not only can you read the bible as the earth being young, the evidence we are uncovering supports this interpretation. That he is unaware of this evidence leads him to tweak young earthers as though they don't believe the earth moves. Much of his follow-on argument is to prove his thought the earth is old, rather than letting it speak for itself. Additionally, it's such a paradox to claim we are in the image of God and then turn and say God is formless spirit. This is yet another area where the scriptures support the idea that God has a body and we are literally in His image, but it doesn't fit with his view of it so he twists his words to make it fit. The whole idea of how the trinity is viewed is so convoluted and non-sensical when God is plain and clear. There are three beings in the Godhead, God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. I know many of you will tweak me for these takes and that is your right, but it does not obviate their factual nature.

If God were to show Himself today and perform miracles, people would not believe. They would want to study Him and ask which planet is He come, etc. I think miracles were used to validate the faith early to get it going as it were.
There's a verse in Quran (Islam) stating why God stopped sending materialistic miracles (as known by earlier ages). This does not mean that miracles or signs have stopped, but people cannot detect with their hearts and minds because of normalization of habits. Moving a hand is a miracle for instance. Quoting one verse from Quran: And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
What's amazing about Christianity is that it's based on a historical event. The accounts of the Quran, of Buddha and other religions (whose earliest writings come several hundred years after any witnesses would've died) could be told relative to any time or place and function the same. Not so with Christ. If the resurrection didn't happen, we Christians are fools to be pitied over anyone else. Yet as Lennox pointed out, the entire field of scholarship on the Bible agrees to several key facts as a matter of historical record based on the attestation of the scriptures, even the atheist scholars agree: Jesus lived. He died on a cross. He was buried. He left behind an empty tomb. Most of them agree there's also enough evidence in the gospels that his disciples and over five hundred eye witnesses believed to have seen the risen Christ. All but one of the apostles willingly faced brutal executions, rather than recanting their testimony that they had personally seen the risen Jesus.
I am always in awe of the provision of God at any given time of humanity. These wonderful minds equipping the Saints and the generation, so eloquently and profoundly thoughtful; that comes only from Revelation of who God is. He is a good good God.

You don't have to be very bright like myself to understand that.When I was a little boy maybe about 5 or 6 years old I asked my father where cows got the calves from on the Farm ? .Dad did not want to try to explain to me the process and told me that they just got them in the paddock .I did a good search and found none , but it was not long after that I found out that was not the case, and some time later I was helping some cows to give birth to their calves.

If the King James Translation authors had not failed to Capitalize the pronouns of Deity in their otherwise faultless Translation, They would have written the "after His Kind" and Their Kind and Us and Our Image and Likeness phrased in Genesis One in the Upper Case, and that would have dramatically revolutionized the interpretation of The True Creation! His and Their Kind , referring to GOD and or The Holy Trinity and the plural Us and Our of verse 26 are Spirits. So the only Things He or They could have possibly created would have been Eternal Spirit Beings, not transitory, corruptible perishable mortal physical bodies of flesh, blood and bone! And how can THAT Which and They Whom That had Always Been, have "a beginning"? I’ve heard him raise these objections before and they’ve been responded to by scholars who take issue on exegetical grounds. It would be much more gracious and true to the issue at hand to not allude to these issues as if they had never been considered by thoughtful Christians, theologians, scientist, etc. who land on a different position from himself. Sure, he finds it convincing, but engage deeper and the issue hasn’t been so neatly resolved. That the universe is a Word based universe is right on the money however. God spoke and the world and all that there is came into being, were ordered according to His divine wisdom, and are constantly upheld by His power. There is much more depth to be understood here.

There could not have been any Earth before this the First Earth because HE called this the First Earth till the end of time - Revelation 21:1 > ... and the "First Earth" were passed away; HE will gather (rapture) all believers at the end of time (after 7000 years from Creation) when HE judges all unbelievers in HIS wrath - the wrath that believers are spared from. That's why Job reveals when he hopes to be gathered - Job 14:12-14 > So "man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more", they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, "till my change come" This corresponds to what is revealed by Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 > Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but "we shall all be changed," In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and "we shall be changed". For "this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality." So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 > Then cometh the end, when He (Christ) shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet. "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death". For HE hath put all things under His feet. But when HE saith all things are put under Him, "it is manifest that HE is excepted, which did put all things under Him". And when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto HIM that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all. Note - When Death is swallowed in victory - at the end of time . Revelation 20:14 > And Death and Hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death. Note - When Death is swallowed in victory - at the end of time when it is cast into the Lake of Fire. This also demolishes the satanic "gap theory" . There is no gap and no pre-Adamic story - that's all imaginative story telling by those that deny God's omniscience about all beings that HE created. Pastors, preachers & teachers all tend to read from a common script (not Scripture) in parroting the "Gap theory" pre-Adamic civilization and/or War in Heaven with their conclusion of the Earth having become void and formless etc. They all act as if the gap theory formulated by some seminary as being the holy cow that should not be challenged. Don't be misled by those parroting Gap theory. According to Scripture the end of this first Earth at the end of time (before eternity to come) HIS judgement will determine the eternal destination - (i) outer darkness for unbelievers (including Satan, the Anti-Christ, the false prophet and all fallen angels & fallen gods) (ii) God dwelling with Believers on the New Earth that will come down from Heaven. Hi Dr. Tour you have a problem if you say the earth was not young. You have death in the world before sin. Romans 5:12 is clear. The Bible is also clear that life is in the blood. We also have from the Torah in the ten commandments that God created in six days if you do not believe the day in Genesis was a day.

As stated in the video I am in no way certain in the exact dating of the Earth or anything on the Earth. But from this verse it seems at first glance humans were not created millions of years after the words was spoken in Genesis 1:11 of the plants but quite the contrary very closely in at least our understanding of time. It would seem logical for me at least in the creation of the World that God would keep things relatively simple in our understanding of time. We understand how long plants of various types grow. So from reading scripture we would simply understand before the plants “sprung up” God created man.
Any further thinking on this would be much appreciated. As always this is not the main focus on the Bible (Word of God) so it is simply a fun discussion to have to more deeply understand our past.

I almost became an atheist back in 2016. Dr John Lennox helped pull me back to the light.
These are two of my favourite Christ following scientists. Both brilliant people. In my opinion we, humans, can only become complete at the moment we step into a holy union with the one true God. To any young person doubting God, I can tell you one thing after having walked 40 years around looking into everything else but the word of God..There is nothing like Him. Nothing compares, and I've literally looked everywhere from Egypt to Nepal..From scientism to gnosticism, but nothing..No buddha, no shiva..nothing comes close to God of the bible. God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said: 'If you have seen Me you have seen the Father'. I can honestly say that I have seen God and it was His mercy alone which gave me true life, life unlike anything I have known before. And time upon time I see others testifying of this same life giving spirit of the one and only true God of the bible. How I wish I hadn't wasted so much time with all that other nonsense, which is why I am writing this comment to younger people. So spare yourself the time and just start with Lord Christ and the living word of God.

Why do you believe that?
They're arguing against a straw man, _"can science explain everything?"_ which requires they ignore known limits which _science itself_ tells us about the limit of knowledge -- you know, like the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle? That's a limit to knowledge: we can't know both the exact location and speed of a particle simultaneously.
What's the sensible takeaway? Well science tries to step us closer to truth (the set of facts about reality) by relying on evidence (detections of reality), because evidence is our only reliable way of knowing anything. So the correct way of phrasing it isn't that science can know everything (we just saw it can't).
The correct statement would be _science will allow us to know everything which can be known._
It's impossible for that to be untrue.
By that I mean if you can show some new method science doesn't know which reliably indicates truth -- if you could do that then by definition science would expand to include that method as "evidence", because you'd have shown you were detecting reality accurately!
Note the focus of theist conversations around this question is *NEVER* them proving they (a) have some alternative demonstrably-reliable method of knowing things science doesn't know and (b) proving their ideas using that alternate method. That's what tells us it's snake oil they're selling you.

If only other 80+ year old world secular and religious leaders had your clear cut faith, the world would be transformed in Christ.
In all fairness to the first question that Dr. Tour answered, scientists do say, "We don't know." The problem is they have to add an addendum to that which is to say, "We don't know, but we do know it wasn't God."
But the reality is that the more scientific discoveries we make, the more evidence piles up in favor of the conclusion that an intelligent designer is necessary to make sense of it all.
God exists, science proves it.

I am not convinced about John Lennox's position about 'how and when of creation'
I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation... until they both made this saying true: "The Bible isn't a science textbook, but many treat science textbooks as if they're the Bible." Never does the Bible depict earth as evolving, moving, spinning, orbiting, or ball-like, in any context or genre. When Moses wrote "evening and morning, day ___", he couldn't have been any clearer that he was talking about normal days, not long ages. Even the 4th Commandment about the Sabbath day is based on creation week. And there was no sun for earth to orbit the first few days So neither earth age or earth construction match mainstream "science". Gen. 1 is historical narrative, and the burden of proof that these are just figures of speech lies with old- and ball-earth proponents. If we reject the Bible's depictions of earth shape and age, we must also reject its miracles--- including the Resurrection--- since they too clash with "scientific fact".

Though for John Lennox on the question that came three times. I have heard it said that the Bible is its own best interpreter. Genesis one and two tell of creation. Exodus 20:11 (KJV) Says "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 31:17b "for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed." Sounds like normal days to me. Thanks

It says God rested on the 7th day. But for the sabbath it does not say evening and morning and declare the 'day' ended. So do we become too ridged in defining 'day' in all cases as 24 hours?
Yes, I love hearing about their love for Jesus but Lennox sidesteps the creation story. It was undoubtedly 6 literal days and he talks about interpreting Genesis wrong but not the deep timers interpreting anything wrong or their assumptions.
Problem with that narrative is humanity trying to fit the supernatural God on human terms based on human experience and knowledge.
Try to understand this -
1. Modern scientific cosmology and astrophysics concluded that Space, Time and Matter did not exist before the Big Bang 130 billion years ago.
2. Stephen Hawking, after failing to disprove singularity (ie the entire Universe was created out of nothing and before the Big Bang, there existed nothing), was forced to conclude that the initial Power that caused the Big Bang must have existed outside the universe we know. Because He was a committed Atheist, he proposed the idea of a “multiverse” instead of the most obvious - God.
3. When God created the heavens and the earth, He also created Time, Space and Matter.
4. God exists in Heaven (not the heavens) outside Space, Time and Matter.
Space, Time and Matter - especially Time - does not limit God so that a Thousand years is like a day to God and a day is like a thousand years. The past, the present and the future is nothing to God so He is omniscient - He sees and knows everything before it happens, when it happens and after it happens.
Space does not limit God so that He is everywhere at the same time all the time - His Omnipresence.
Matter does not limit God so He can command the elements, multiply bread and fish, make Wine out of water, cause oil to flow from a jug without ending, raise the dead, heal the sick... Become a human being to enter the world He created... That is Jesus Christ, the Lamb slain from the creation of the world. Revelation 13:8
So what kind of day are we talking about. Being inspired by the Holy Spirit, the ancients came up with the Genesis narrative and Moses out down on paper. For God unlimited by the constraints of time, a day is not what His created universe understand it to be and certainly not what the earthly human know it to be. Therefore to take the creation story at literal face value would be a mistake because while it is possible for God to create everything in 7 Earth days, what He chose to do remains a mystery.
What a privilege to listen to those two giants, Thank God, for teachers like them.

Answers in Genesis explains this as well as any ministry of Scientists who believe the Bible. It's very disappointing how many great people , academically speaking, have been duped by the enemy in this area. If adopted to logical thinking....it destroys not only Genesis 1-11....but in fact the whole Bible and of course the Gospel. If Sin and death did not come through one man as the Bible clearly claims...then Sin does not exist and therefore no saviour of mankind is required or could even be conceived of. This is very dangerous theory.

At 2:25:30, I think, why scientists can't readily admit that they don't know, is related to the education system and pride. Giving, having, and/or knowing the answer, is rewarded and promoted, where not having the answer is ridiculed, disrespected or at the least is an embarrassment. It is easier to give an answer that provides an illusion of knowledge, especially when it's theoretical yet devoid proof.

Of course not, but that doesn't mean they will stop trying to. Science is a field that uses logic and fact to find an answer. What can't be explained presently with science can be reasonably and logically explained with commonsense and feasibility.

The "God of the gaps" argument has always been a silly one because they know that not everything is explained. Even the explanations they offer don't fully explain everything. They will never admit it though. They truly believe that everything can be known.

Brilliant talk/lecture! Many of the answers that Dr Lennox are consistent with many of the same answers that I have independently shared with others who have asked me the same/similar questions.
The more that I see of Dr. Lennox & Dr. Tour the more impressed that I am in both of them.
It is quite telling that these awestruck admirers of Brother Lennox and Tour are quick to praise them as "Christian scientists" but done of the repliers has called them Saints, or Men of GOD. The Truth be told, any Bible expositor, no matter his highly acclaimed scholastic credentials, who at this elderly stage of their "Christian walk"are still avowed infernalists, neither know The Scripture of Truth, nor the Power of The Holy Trinity to be The SAVIOUR OF the world. My reasoning for being a young earth believer is the mere fact that God uses the week of creation as reason for why his chosen people (israel) should only work for six days and rest on the seventh. Its in the 10 commandments.
Also i have yet to see good reason to believe the week of creation was 1000 years each. If that were so then Adam would have been dead by the seventh thousand year cycle as he only lived around 900 years.
The creature skeletons that are buried in the layers of the earth dont make since to me in the since of use for "ages", as nature wouldnt allow for such intense preservation unless the calamity was as a swift sword. Nature is efficient in its recycling cycles.
Lennox knocked it out of the park yet again.
I love Dr. Lennox, but there are few areas I take issue with him.
His take on young vs old earth is interesting, but flawed. Not only can you read the bible as the earth being young, the evidence we are uncovering supports this interpretation. That he is unaware of this evidence leads him to tweak young earthers as though they don't believe the earth moves. Much of his follow-on argument is to prove his thought the earth is old, rather than letting it speak for itself.
Additionally, it's such a paradox to claim we are in the image of God and then turn and say God is formless spirit. This is yet another area where the scriptures support the idea that God has a body and we are literally in His image, but it doesn't fit with his view of it so he twists his words to make it fit. The whole idea of how the trinity is viewed is so convoluted and non-sensical when God is plain and clear. There are three beings in the Godhead, God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.
I know many of you will tweak me for these takes and that is your right, but it does not obviate their factual nature.

The Bible is pretty good at explaining the importance of self-control. Proverbs 25:28 says - "Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control." The people whose primary focus in life is to go out and party would do well heeding that verse.

Thanks be to God our Lord for having you, Dr. Tour and Dr Lennox, in this generation declaring the power of God in the field of the sciences. Both your testimonies give Christianity the cogency of truth. Christ is the truth.
If God were to show Himself today and perform miracles, people would not believe. They would want to study Him and ask which planet is He come, etc. I think miracles were used to validate the faith early to get it going as it were.
He even told His criticizers; the story of Lazarus and the Rich man
There's a verse in Quran (Islam) stating why God stopped sending materialistic miracles (as known by earlier ages). This does not mean that miracles or signs have stopped, but people cannot detect with their hearts and minds because of normalization of habits. Moving a hand is a miracle for instance.
Quoting one verse from Quran:
And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
What's amazing about Christianity is that it's based on a historical event. The accounts of the Quran, of Buddha and other religions (whose earliest writings come several hundred years after any witnesses would've died) could be told relative to any time or place and function the same.
Not so with Christ.
If the resurrection didn't happen, we Christians are fools to be pitied over anyone else.
Yet as Lennox pointed out, the entire field of scholarship on the Bible agrees to several key facts as a matter of historical record based on the attestation of the scriptures, even the atheist scholars agree: Jesus lived. He died on a cross. He was buried. He left behind an empty tomb.
Most of them agree there's also enough evidence in the gospels that his disciples and over five hundred eye witnesses believed to have seen the risen Christ.
All but one of the apostles willingly faced brutal executions, rather than recanting their testimony that they had personally seen the risen Jesus.
*The remaining Apostle (John) lived out his days in peace, farther afield, dying of old age on the Aisle of Patmos, thus escaping martyrdom.
I am always in awe of the provision of God at any given time of humanity. These wonderful minds equipping the Saints and the generation, so eloquently and profoundly thoughtful; that comes only from Revelation of who God is. He is a good good God.

Listening to these great men Professor Lennox and Dr Tour is a privilege and so I recommend to any person searching for the truth listen to both of these men with confidence1,There is in what we describe creation a actual causal agent and God is that causal agent. 2 whether it be biological or not organic. What anyone would say who believes otherwise is saying that stuff just materialises or comes into being on its own account. You don't have to be very bright like myself to understand that.When I was a little boy maybe about 5 or 6 years old I asked my father where cows got the calves from on the Farm ? .Dad did not want to try to explain to me the process and told me that they just got them in the paddock .I did a good search and found none , but it was not long after that I found out that was not the case, and some time later I was helping some cows to give birth to their calves.

That was absolutely amazing, I have high respect for James Tour and John Lennox. Such a pleasure as a young man to be able to sit here and have listened to something that will stick with me for a lifetime.
If the King James Translation authors had not failed to Capitalize the pronouns of Deity in their otherwise faultless Translation, They would have written the "after His Kind" and Their Kind and Us and Our Image and Likeness phrased in Genesis One in the Upper Case, and that would have dramatically revolutionized the interpretation of The True Creation! His and Their Kind , referring to GOD and or The Holy Trinity and the plural Us and Our of verse 26 are Spirits. So the only Things He or They could have possibly created would have been Eternal Spirit Beings, not transitory, corruptible perishable mortal physical bodies of flesh, blood and bone! And how can THAT Which and They Whom That had Always Been, have "a beginning"? If one tries to make reasonable, sane sense of Genesis as Moses supposedly wrote it, he will be as confused as a termite in a yoyo! LOL 😂😆

From Gen 1.27 at the start of creation, we, men and women, are made in God's image and likeness. How? With a spiritual soul, God's form, commencing in us His creatures the visible proof on earth that the invisible God exists in Heaven.
From John 1.14, at the start of redemption, He, God the Son, the Word, is made in our image and likeness. How? With a human body, our form, completing in us His creatures the re-divinisation of man by restoring grace on earth, in readiness for eternal life back in heaven
These conversations are wonderful, I can’t get enough of this topic with these scientists.
In all due respect to these men of science and religion. Science will never be a reliable avenue or path to the Knowledge of the Truth. We, the truly Called of GOD, Walk by Faith not by sight, ( scientific observation or theory) for the things that scientists think they see are temporal and therefore illusory. The Things We can't see with the body's eyes 👀 are ETERNAL and therefore Real. The eyes of flesh see only the outer form and no form endures. The Eye 👁️ of Faith Sees the Substance and Evidence of Spiritual Reality, Light, Life, Liberty, Love, Joy and Peace Everlasting! However there will be no faith or science in the Glory of Heaven, but only the Wondrous Awareness of the Oneness of Eternal and Infinite Being!

While Dr. Lennox does a good job of articulating the spaciousness of interpretive options that he believes are tenable, there is a degree of technicality to the issue that wasn’t and couldn’t be effectively covered well enough. I’ve heard him raise these objections before and they’ve been responded to by scholars who take issue on exegetical grounds.
It would be much more gracious and true to the issue at hand to not allude to these issues as if they had never been considered by thoughtful Christians, theologians, scientist, etc. who land on a different position from himself. Sure, he finds it convincing, but engage deeper and the issue hasn’t been so neatly resolved.
That the universe is a Word based universe is right on the money however. God spoke and the world and all that there is came into being, were ordered according to His divine wisdom, and are constantly upheld by His power. There is much more depth to be understood here.

One of the oldest evil scams is to tell people they're born in sin and there's a better place after death, but to be saved a spot they must repent and make some donations while at it.
The very first prophetic (also futuristic) event is revealed in Genesis 1:2 > And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
Logically, HE could reveal the End in Genesis 1:2 only after revealing the Beginning in Genesis 1:1.
Genesis 1:1 > In "the Beginning" God created the Heaven and the Earth.
Isaiah 46:9-10 > ... I am God, and there is none like me, "Declaring the End from the Beginning", and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all MY pleasure:
Isaiah 55:11 > So shall MY word be that goeth forth out of MY mouth: it shall not return unto ME void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
There could not have been any Earth before this the First Earth because HE called this the First Earth till the end of time - Revelation 21:1 > ... and the "First Earth" were passed away;
HE will gather (rapture) all believers at the end of time (after 7000 years from Creation) when HE judges all unbelievers in HIS wrath - the wrath that believers are spared from.
That's why Job reveals when he hopes to be gathered - Job 14:12-14 > So "man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more", they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, "till my change come"
This corresponds to what is revealed by Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 > Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but "we shall all be changed," In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and "we shall be changed".
For "this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Corinthians 15:24-28 > Then cometh the end, when He (Christ) shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet. "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death". For HE hath put all things under His feet. But when HE saith all things are put under Him, "it is manifest that HE is excepted, which did put all things under Him". And when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto HIM that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.
Note - When Death is swallowed in victory - at the end of time .
Revelation 20:14 > And Death and Hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death.

This also demolishes the satanic "gap theory" . There is no gap and no pre-Adamic story - that's all imaginative story telling by those that deny God's omniscience about all beings that HE created.
Pastors, preachers & teachers all tend to read from a common script (not Scripture) in parroting the "Gap theory" pre-Adamic civilization and/or War in Heaven with their conclusion of the Earth having become void and formless etc. They all act as if the gap theory formulated by some seminary as being the holy cow that should not be challenged.
Don't be misled by those parroting Gap theory.
According to Scripture the end of this first Earth at the end of time (before eternity to come) HIS judgement will determine the eternal destination - (i) outer darkness for unbelievers (including Satan, the Anti-Christ, the false prophet and all fallen angels & fallen gods) (ii) God dwelling with Believers on the New Earth that will come down from Heaven.
