i recommend no more than 5 mici /at table , 5 is maximum! , otherwise will be dangerous for you to eat in every day ... 5 mici / week it's perfect (saturday or sunday , barbeque),if you eat in every day many you could become fat ...and of course ,a draft beer, suits perfect this food (no wine ,vodka,or other alcohool drink!) just Mici+Beer , add also a portion of fries...5 mici + a little mustard + fries + a draft beer = perfect combination

If you want amazing mici go in Sinaia at "Popas Alpin". That are the best mici in Romania. They are made specifically for that restaurant and they are not available outside of that place (kinda home made - extremely clean meat)

Haha, Steve, u r just looking for attention, maybe out of boredom since Ivana has a cold :P As a romanian, Im eating mici 3-4 times per year max, so its simple. Drop the mici and try soups/ciorba or salads of many kinds, eggplant mostly or zacusca, the best, or even a normal pizza or a șaorma/shawarma or whatever. U wont go hungry in Rou. Just watch for the ideas the Mark Wiens` proposed in his Romanian Culinary Series if soooo bored and if u really want out of the ”mici-addiction” ;) :P :P

ANY mici is the best mici for me! You cannot go wrong! Mustard is a must-have! Tip for any Food Vloggers visiting Romania: try your first mici, WITH mustard, after you can try the meat on its own... Bread is good, but mici...I could do with about 20 right now!🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♂️

  • @LusioEcarts

As a romanian I often feel like mustard (the creamy one) has been invented mostly for mici haha. I barely eat mustard (even in my own house / at home) if I don't have mici at home. I feeI Iike it's close to being useIess having it without at least a plan to eat mici soon (like.. this week or in the next week or at least in that month).
For other types of food with grilled (fried) meat I prefer condiments (spices) or especially the garlic sauce. Edit: Well.. the sausages are good with mustard too.. but they are processed or ultra processed and that makes them a LESS healthy food (for your human organism).

Dude, mici are a whole philosophy. It is THE Romanian street food par excellence. I use to try 3 pieces first; if they meet my fancy, I'm gonna eat up to 12. Most important is that they HAVE to be BBQed on charcoal! Minced meat should be beef or beef with sheep; nowadays the most commercialy available mici are of beef and pork. The beef stock for the juicyness of the mixture is mandatory. Mustard is optional; it can distort the rich spice flavour. I prefer garlic sauce and crunchy flat bread or freshly cut fried potatoes.
Recommendations for Bucharest according to my own experience: Zexe Zahana, City Grill, Terasa Obor and La Platou (Obor Market).
Other often mentioned places in Bucharest: La Cocosatu', La Gil and La Ciotoianu (Popesti-Leordeni suburb).
Pure joy for you and your environment with those garlicky burps afterwards!

Mici is a very personal thing as you now understand lol. If you get a chance and go through a place called Dedulesti, sort of South East of Brasov and near Ramnicu Valcea...I think for me that was close to the best you can get or some of the best I have had. No matter where you go in the world you measure the quality and authenticity of a place by how many of its own countrymen go there. At Dedulesti you will see cars and trucks backed up down the road and its on a steep hill!!...People go there just to eat the mici. So if you get there will be curious to see what you think. The most common mici are with beef and pork meat (togheter). But you can also make it with just pork meat or even mixed with sheep meat. There are even with chicken meat (but that is a weird combo haha.. kinda same for veggie mici). Beef + Pork meat is often a good combination. (sheep / goat meat ain't bad either tho).

It's like a 10 minute bus ride from where I live. welcome to the most beautiful city in Romania, where stunning mountain views bless your eyes everywhere you walk, alongside great historical architecture and a mixed cuisine of romanian, hugarian and german food to die for. Speaking of mountains, if it's nature you want, try the various mountain trails easily accessible nearby the city via bus. They're great for a leisurely, quiet walk. And speaking of public transport, the buses here are waaaay better and more efficient than in Bucharest.

Get well, hope you'll both get healthy in no time. BTW in case your friends won't mention this, I would suggest visiting the Weaver's Bastion (Bastionul Tesatorilor) first of all in Brasov, so you can get an understanding about how the city used to look like as they got a miniature model of the old city, with walls, gates, towers and all. That will help you in the long run and I always suggest it to friends that visit the city. It only costs about 5-7 lei and worth it.

La Ciotoianu mici, just south of Bucharest. The place doesn't look like much, it's like a corner store on a country backroad, but it's getting quite the reputation. The mici are huge, I'd be surprised if you can down 3 of them and they are absolutely juicy and delicious. Before holidays they get queues that go on for a few blocks.

There's quite an elaborate process to make good mici. First: there should be no pork. Only good quality finely ground beef and sheep meat. The mix of spices is of course important (you can find that info on the net). A pinch of sodium bicarbonate is essential to make them fluffy and also for taste. Once formed, they will have to rest for up to 24 hours to develop a crust that will help keep the juice in. And while grilling (on charcoal of course), you baste them with garlic sauce (I prefer to not put garlic in the mixture).
