    Stripped is a back-to-basics stand-up from Suzy Eddie Izzard, and is a continuation of her style of comedy, full of "stream-of-conscious banter and predilection for nonsensical detours and frequent tangents." Recorded live at the Lyric Theatre.

    12 years of Catholic school here. Even in high school in the 70s they taught us that "the whole would" in those times was between the Eufrates and Tigress rivers which could have flooded and "every animal" would only be a few species.

    Not feeling very bright today? Smile and remember . . .
    There are grown adults who actually believe that two penguins walked all the way from Antarctica to the Middle East to get aboard an ark built by a 500 year old man.

    I remember reading a historical investigation into the myth of Noah's ark. At best the evidence shows the "ark" was actually a trading vessel in Egypt when the Nile river flooded all the local land. The "world" was actually where all the local people lived, so it was the "world" to them, but it wasn't the entire planet.

      I heard similar, except based in Mesopotamia instead of Egypt.

      Thats intriguing... I was under the impression the "great flood" was the breach and filling of the black sea as the ice age came to a close. I saw a program about it a while back, the Deluge Hypothesis, I believe it was called.
      Still, fascinating stuff, even if we're not all sure what gave rise to the myth.

    Not funny because Eddie's jokes rested on invalid assumptions. First of all, why did Eddie assume that Noah tried to load aquatic animals like fish, giant squids, and sharks onto his ark in order to save them from the Flood? Noah didn't-except perhaps as food. Noah's goal was to save _land_ animals and birds from drowning in the Flood. Aquatic creatures don't drown in water-they _live_ there!
    As for lions and tigers eating up other animals and people on board-that's easy to foresee and avoid. See, people through the ages-in real life-have been transporting such animals on ships. Including the Romans, the Spaniards, the British, the wildlife traders, the zoo procurers etc. Indeed, predators and prey can be transported together on the same ship, arriving at their destination with everybody alive and well. That's how African lions and zebras-for example-ended up in American zoos. Why didn't the predators kill other animals or the crew on the ships? For that matter, why don't they kill other animals and humans in a zoo or circus? Figure it out-it's not hard, unless you're Eddie.

      @nHans 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@zakgault4209 Well, simply calling it "comedy" doesn't make it so. Sure, some folks might find it funny when the host speaks nonsense and treats the audience like they're stupid-but I don't. YMMV.
      See, Noah's Ark is one of the most popular topics for religious comedy. IMO, every possible drop of humor has already been squeezed out of it by comedians like Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr, George Carlin, Bill Cosby etc., and movies like _Evan Almighty._ Consequently, any comedian joking about it has to come up with a really novel angle. Otherwise it's just a rehash. This is a rare miss for Izzard, who's reasonably funny otherwise.

    • @nHans

      @@andrewjameshenderson1389 A bit early in the thread for _ad hominem_ attacks-but okay, if that's how you want it. Clearly, you've run out of intelligent things to say even before you typed your first comment.
      Noah's story occurs in the Torah as well as the Quran. So tell me, do you have a rational basis for concluding that I am not Jewish or Muslim? Or are you merely projecting your own self-loathing onto me?
