    They had no idea what was ahead of them. Think about all the classics about to be released in the following years..."Jaws", "Alien",
    "A Clockwork Orange", "Rocky", "Star Wars : A New Hope" "The Warriors", "Taxi Driver" ect.

    Cavett has an unparalleled ability to confuse his guests, leading to awkward pauses and quizzical looks.
    Good questions stand on their own but Dick often had to explain what he meant by his.

    • @JudgeJulieLit
      @JudgeJulieLit 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Dick's questions were uniquely great, and reflect his high intelligence and ability to zero in on what's uniquely interesting about what his guests did and who they were. May be over the heads of some viewers, but the questions usually made sense to his guests of sense.

    • @jerryoshea3116
      @jerryoshea3116 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that is a fair observation.
      I certainly enjoy watching clips of his show(he had the "Creme de la creme"on)but I think he suffered with the ability or misfortune of being maybe a little to smart or witty for his own good, at times and instead of asking a (q)listening to the answer,he was already interjecting his answer or "Punchline"which could be irritating or awkward for his guest I would imagine!!.But still a classic show!..

    • @christinepaige2575
      @christinepaige2575 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, and that is why Cavett was a cr*p interviewer. He lived in his ego, had to feel like he was Mister Clever, *had* to try to embarrass the guest in some way, if only briefly.

      Great movie, although the ending was a little sad. Just an aside from that, there is ( or was ) a video here on TH-cam of a recent tour of the locations used in the movie. A lot has changed in the near 60 years since it was made, but it shows the spot on Tiger town Rd. where Kirk and Kim first meet at the school bus stop after dropping off their kids, and quite a few others. Robert Vander Voort There is this poignant ending , but when I was watching it recently , what really stunned me , was Kirk's incredible strength and stamina while he was pulling his horse up the rocky hillside. I have actually tried to get into his every movement and got tired just by watching it. I can't even start to think about the job of a cameraman. The reality of this scene is simply breath taking.

    Kirk says he's 5ft 11ins but on the Celeb Height website they have him as 5ft 9ins. Mind you, they have Michael Douglas at only 5ft 8ins. BTW, that website is worth checking out as members of the public can comment on the height of celebrities that they have encountered, saying things like, " I'm 6 ft 1 in and was looking down at such and such a celeb so I would reckon he's no more than 5ft 10ins" .

    I liked "The Big Trees". I also liked "Lonely are the Brave". They weren't big budget films but I was entertained.
    Just saying. 😊

    Funny... Every thing I found said Kirk is not 5'11"... they have him at 5'9" . Which I believe is more accurate looking at him along side other stars that we know their true height.

    do have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like all the other Dick Cavett shows.

    Cash's first film role was "Five Minutes to Live" in which he plays a vicious criminal, who, in the end (spoiler alert) is gunned down by police. th-cam.com/video/YjXT7ZhoMpc/w-d-xo.html

    My ex wife and I stayed on that Apache reservation in Dulce a number of years ago. They have money because there is oil on the land. I think they have had difficulty holding onto their wealth, regardless. The government has screwed them out of much of it.

    Kirk was right about movies. This was filmed in 1971 and they were only a few years away from Jaws and the birth of the summer blockbuster and Star Wars etc. But he would not be a part of it.
