Looks delicious!!! I make a Sausage Fried Rice. Everyone loves it. I use Farmer breakfast sausage links broken up, garlic, onion, green onion, eggs, cabbage chopped into little squares and rice. I make a sauce with 2 tbsp soy, 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 4 drops of sesame oil and 1 tbsp water and mix well.

Whenever I cook rice I cook more than is needed for a specific recipe. I portion it in freezer bags for later, those nights when I don't really want to "cook" and have odds-and-ends in the fridge/freezer/pantry. Fried rice is a life saver for busy nights, especially before a Grocery Run....love you Flo&Dude, this channel has helped me so much to cook simple, tasty food...oy

Uncle Roger would "put his leg off his chair" or flip his chopstick! Using white sugar is a "white people fail' as he says. You must use brown sugar.

Great idea...I love Chinese food, and I crave it and seafood...ALWAYS. I could have it for breakfast. It is definitely my favorite, with a hot cup of wonderful JASMINE tea. The aroma is heavenly! No bacon! Just garlic, soy sauce and GINGER...Yum. I use my wok to saute veggies when making soups. It cuts cooking time. Lots of room, and quick.

    • @jeanmader2302

The freezer idea is great for rice. I have been craving rice pudding for a long time, but I usually cook what my husband likes;! I can usually find a light snack that I like, later. I also love Cajun rice with onions, sausage, and other veggies in it. Even crawdads!! They are good in pasta as well. My man goes for the very boring meat, and potatoes. I grew up on the east coast, so I got very lucky in being exposed to wonderful foods from different cultures. Yum

Hi I just discovered your channel. You have a lovely calm manner. I have been making lots of different fried rice for many years. I used to love a chinese cook called Ken Hom and in the 1980's i read his book like a bible. I learned so much from him. As time went on and I learned recipes from other cultures, I found I preferred the taste of Basmati rice that Indian recipes use. So that is the rice I use in my egg fried rice dishes instead of long grain rice. I was pleased that you introduced me to other ingredients that are suitable like the minced beef so will try that. Thank you so much to you and your other half. XxDeb in Newcastle, England

Hi Flo! My fave is the garlic shrimp fried rice. It’s my go-to recipe. I use the same recipe except I would use chicken or pork and add some peas, carrots and corn when I’m feeling adventurous. It never fails. My friends think I’m a fried rice master chef. Learned so much from you and Gordon Ramsey. But you’re my go-to for Asian dishes. 😅 Love your channel!

A friend of mine who was a commercial cook, but not a chef, taught me her s/yle of fried rice, she said to add chichen stock to the rice when cooking for flavour. Once her rice was cooked, she spread it out in a flat tray, and dried it in the oven, so she could use it fairly quickly. She also used the absorption method to get dry rice, with no clumps. Thank-you for the recipes, though onion causes migrains for me, so I have to tweak recipes. All the best.

Do you want to hear cheap and easy? You take leftover fried rice. Fry a little bit of bacon, normally I use crumbles. I then throw the rice into the pan, add three or four beaten eggs, move them around, so that they are cooked within the rice. Move that all around stir it make sure everything is blended. Then I add a little bit more so sauce and chopped green onions. There you have it rice, bacon, eggs, Soy sauce and green onions. I use this when I don’t have any chicken or other protein. Cheap and delicious.

Hi! This is almost the same way I am doing it! The new for me, was doing the eggs first. I do not have a wok, so the biggest frying pan is used. When my kids was in 2nd and 3rd grade (almost 30 yrs ago), they would INHALE my fried rice. Had to make up 2 pans for 2 adults and 2 kids... same ingredients as you, bacon and a mixed frozen vegetables (carrots, peas and corn).
Going to do the eggs first from now on...😁

When the price of food at Asian markets goes through the roof, ( price is usually much lower than Western markets) you know we are in for a rough ride! You can buy that shrimp/fish paste in glass jars at Asian grocery stores (NOT in the Indian stores). The Filipinos call it "bagong", smelly and delish (as is durian), stays in the fridge for years. My wife can't stand it. More for me!
I noticed that you didn't use any chopped, fresh ginger while cooking fried rice. I think it gives it a little zing.
The Thais add diced cucumber at the end (like you did with the iceberg lettuce). It gives it a light, fresh aroma. They ALSO sprinkle some sugar on their fried rice before starting to eat. You'll find containers of white sugar on the tables at small eateries in Bangkok, where you'll see the locals sprinkling some on their fried rice. Not a bad idea, especially if you add the dynamite little green chillies in vinegar that are also on the tables.
I score HUGE points with wifey when I make fried rice for breakfast. Whether it's with spam or even chopped up hotdogs! Of course I add some veges for color, substance and keeping it healthy. Cabbage, carrots, peas, bell peppers, broccoli, whatever is in the fridge and needs to be used very soon, before it goes bad. Less meat, more veges - we're both happy while we have our third helping.
Fried rice never acquires "leftovers" status in our house. Every grain is precious (like in the movie Empire of The Sun).
Thanks for sharing your method and recipes. It's 5:30 AM, stayed up, stomach is growling and I need to eat!!
Might as well skip sleep and make her breakfast before she goes to work. Right?
I confess, I LOVE cooking. Thank you, Mom! 🙏🕉🙏

You are a wonderful fried rice coach. 😊 I made fried rice tonight with left over rice and other stuff thst needed to be used up in the fridge. It was better than take-out! Thank you so much. 👍🏻👍🏻

Probably you may try the shrimp paste from Thailand. The taste is good and goes very well with garlic and not too strong smell. Please try and you will love it. I really recommend.

You should show people how to crack your eggs on the countertop, not the edge of the bowl, to prevent eggs shells. Yummy fried rice! New subscriber. Love it, &&& your faith!

I love fried rice too. Simple or busy with lots of added veg. Cold with Coronation Chicken or just with salad.

Looks really good! I especially like the idea of removing as much salt as possible from the Spam. Good job!

Hi Flo, I certainly do hope that you get this message, I was wondering, can I use turkey bacon with this recipe? It’s not as fatty so I don’t know if it’ll work, but I have a member of my family that is allergic to pork

Sure… beauty of fried rice, use whatever you want. If there is not enough fat (if it sticks to the pan or it looks too dry), just add more oil.
