Thanks for this review. That's my only DSLR I own and I own it since 2010. Currently I'm actively looking to buy a mirrorless more modern one. It has its limitations as you stated but it's adequate for most occations. Just not the fast ones. Back then I was dissapointed to have the last one *without* a video function but smartphones made that lack obsolete.
At the time that camera was released it was a good camera and even now it is a very usable camera and it does take good photos. Good luck with your search for a mirrorless camera, and thanks a lot for watching and for your comment 👍👍
For car Photography, this is a good kit for starters. Just purchase some cpl and mist filters and you good to go. Even if you still have the variable kit lens, still okay. Recommend pairing this with the Nikon 35mm 1.8. Even at 10 megapixel, a sharp prime lens will transform this camera to whole new level.
Thanks for another helpful video. I always get at least one useful tip from your narratives. This time, I picked up your thoughts about not needing too slow a shutter speed when shooting moving water. (A mistake I’ve made a bit too often)
Thanks as always for watching and sharing your thoughts. We often take photos without thinking about the process and it's only when you think about the shot in a video then you consider explaining the process. 👍👍
I think you very well showed how much fun you can have with such a camera. I can't find it for lower than $80 (including shipping) but let's say for $80 a camera with a nice CCD sensor is very nice indeed!
Thank you very much, yeah it is ok and for that price you will get a good understanding of photography and you will get nice photos. Thanks too for watching and good luck if you buy one!! 👍👍
I’d go for the D80 over the D3000 (I own both). More buttons and dials, better battery, and most importantly it has an autofocus motor so it will work with older AF and AF-D lenses. That makes the whole package much more affordable.
i got a d3200 , actualy got 4 of them , buy the first one to shoot video abaut 10 years a go , and buy the others used around 200euro , for shooting multicam video , for stills is actualy a good camera , if don t go to dark , 1600iso is the most you can get with good quality go up to 6400 but is to much noise , pas 3200iso and is also a 20mp camera , i think is better option compare to the 3000 or the 3100 and as used camera dos not cost that much , 100-200euro , and come also in red :P
Thanks a lot for watching and for your excellent comment. I don't have any experience with the D3200 though I imagine it is a step up from the D3000 👍👍
i own the camera and have used it as recently as oct 2023 to a trip to lisbon and canary islands. great pictures outside, BUT just horrible inside. for example is i am in a dark church my iphone takes GREAT pics without even trying or adjusting, the iphone just makes it happen. Why cant the nikon do this? I dont want to have to switch around 10 different functions, just to have to remember to switch back when i get back outside. can anyone help with this?
Thanks for watching and for your message. That is a good point and the Camera has a limited ISO range, and a iPhone has such a modern sensor. I think I will create a video of night photography using the camera to test it 👍👍
Just set it to auto the green setting on the dial or the one below if you don't want flash .( i shoot theatre with it (very low light) with no problem although that takes a bit more work an a suitable lens)
I'm seeing more and more "is it worth getting 'that' old camera?'" videos. And this is pretty lazy content in my opinion. Of course it's worth it.... if you want! Most cameras, with a few exceptions, are fairly conservative products from conservative brands. These are very predictable things and there are rarely any surprises. And the market prices them quite honestly. What is often not said in such videos is that when buying old equipment, the condition of the copy is more important than the model or even the brand. And a live check is very desirable. Working with a bad copy can be a terrible experience! Another problem is that such content is almost always positive; people always praise the camera they are talking about. I have never seen such a video in a critical tone before. And when we talk about old cameras, it's always worth discussing the limitations that they have. Another problem is that such things are rarely considered in the context of the market and other models. In my opinion, DSLRs with a CCD sensor fall into the category where the extra dollars in savings are probably no longer worth it. Yes, this is a fun toy, maybe “retro” for some, but the later 3xxx and 5xxx out of tenths are priced quite adequately, while having almost modern image quality. I know professionals who use these cameras for food and subject photography because it have a very cheap shutter click compared to the main working camera. Live view for precise focusing, a tilt screen in the 5xxx series - everything you need for tripod photography. Image quality ? - 24mp, huge RAW flexibility - only a high-resolution full-frame cameras is noticeably better than this. A $50 camera from another era makes little sense for beginner. Photography is an expensive hobby, with most things worth buying (like lenses) costing $100 or more. It makes sense to have something more capable as the basis of the system.
Thanks a lot for watching the video and for your excellent comment. I accept your comments, and sadly the title and the positivity are what people mainly want to watch and I have already found if I try to be too negative in my videos I get a lot more less than positive comments. I know not all equipment review on TH-cam can be that good but they all get good reviews, and so far in my camera journey I have not found a camera as good as my Olympus. I was aiming the video at someone who really doesn't have any money and who would like to get into photography, and I guess there is something for everyone. Thanks again for taking your time to comment. 👍👍
@@MyPhotoJourney I live in Ukraine. There are always some crises here. A salary of $400 is considered good. During the worst of one of the crises, I once earned $47 for 168 working hours in a month... No typos And I say - there is a line when cheaper is no longer worth it. Leave the $50 cameras to those who like "retro". Working person can save from another salary, the student can wait for another scholarship, the child can save a little more pocket money. Whatever the situation, I think it’s worth to wait a little more and saving up for some more convenient platform that will at least help a little, and not something you have to fight against in order to consistently get the expected result. And I have experience with such cameras. I know that their sensors can collect dust like carpet in an old house, autofocus can be unreliable to the point of being completely useless, and the light meter can go crazy in a scene with slightly more contrast than a gray wall in cloudy weather. These cameras are very often a mix of unpolished technologies with inadequate quality control and illnesses due to age. There are reasons why they cost $50.
@@dima1353Thank you very much for watchinh and for you very good comment. I agree that if you are able it would be better to save your money and buy a newer better camera!

This was the last DSLR I bought back in 2009. I bought it for the F-mount. Everything since then has been mirrorless.
That's awesome, you've got to start somewhere. Thanks a lot for watching 👍

Yeah the D3000 has it limitations and there are a lot of better cameras, thanks for watching 👍
Or a D200, slightly more expensive, but supports AI-s lenses
The lens is the most important thing. Not the camera. Good lens, good quality images.
Thanks for watching and exactly my point in my recent TH-cam short

For a beginner camera, you can’t go wrong with a sub $100 dslr with 10mp. Nice video.
