I found this band the other day while planning a trip to Paris for November. I wanted to find some music to see and was like whoa they're awesome. Got a feeling I won't be able to catch them but a great band. Fun to then find out you have done a video with them.
I've been falling in love with L'Imperatrice! They are already blowing up world wide and soon in the states too. Their groove and talent is universal. And Flor is an amazing lead! I highly recommend checking out their whole latest album Tako Tsubo
Absolutely LOVE your vid + L'imperatrice as well. Your digging and picking through this music makes me remember and love music and encourages me to no end. ❤️. Thank you
This band was my favourite discovery of last year by far and I'm so psyched to see you dig them too! Would absolutely love to you see you dive into some more L'Impératrice content. You should check out their songs Voodoo or Submarine.
My guy I’ve been fans of this band for at least 5yrs now and dude if you like this you need to check out agitation tropicales that guitar in the mix is so crispy and sexy and the bass line sheesh!!!!!
I gotta get in on this early to mention that I have loved this band for a long time! Best of the best coming from France!! For the people who don’t know French; “Afraid of Girls (title)- The Empress (band)”. Pronounced something kind sorta like: Per day fee - L-am-pair-a-trees (voiceless ss not a z sound)
POOR-day-fee is closer. The rest is pretty good. That last syllable would be pronounced as if rhyming with Greece. I wonder if my family in Paris are familiar with L’Impératrice.
@@ScotlandSword From the perspective of General US English - also taking into account most anglophones can’t pronounce /ʁ/ - I really think the /ɚ/ in “per” is closer to the /œ/ of “peur” than to the “/ɔ ~ ʊ/“ of “poor”; thanks for the feedback tho
@@leroideslangues obviously we are just splitting hairs here…the truth is that it is somewhere in between the two and as you said, there is no exact equivalent in English. The problem I had with ‘per’ was just that most Americans will read that with a typical hard accent on the P(uh) and then a short, soft ‘er’ this immediately made me think that some people may say it like ‘Perdy’ which will morph into ‘pretty’ and now I’m laughing bc these things are all close but frustratingly not accurate. But I suspect that only you and I find this an interesting nuance. Bottom line is that they are a cool band and I appreciate the exposure from Michael and your comments as well.
By the way, I tested a text-to-speech translation engine and it correctly understood the English word ‘pure’ and whenever I said ‘pure’ in English and then the rest in French, the translator correctly identified it nearly every time. I also realized that we are discussing probably the single most difficult French sound for anglophones to say; maybe the French (r) is more difficult, and they are both in this short 4 letter word.
I love these videos. You are absolutely my fav guitar teacher. Unfortunately I just can’t make the time to commit to going full guitargate. Please keep it going, you make me a better player every day!
First time I heard them was last year and I was completely out of my mind! And as a bassist myself, this was nuts. All of their songs from their last album (Tako Tsubo) are pure gold. I absolutely love them. I even started studying french!
Puer = to stink (a smell). Peur = fear. I thought it was a funny title. Peur des filles. Afraid of girls. Puer des filles. To stink girls. I does not make much sense. 😉
Thanks for that, a very interesting discovery, would surely check some more of this band's stuff. Michael hope you can do a video checking out Glen Campbell Live Wichita Lineman, it is such a stand alone classic musically wise, and Campbell was a great guitar player, singer and musician, it would be interesting to see your response and breakdown of it (though you probably already saw it)
Regarding the bass player importance in the band and the preciseness of his art, see th-cam.com/video/_LI16ecYiJY/w-d-xo.html where another bass player has to take his part for one day
your miniature literally says "Puer des filles" wich in french means "stink of girls" you better change it before some feminist activist sees that ahahah
In light of the situation in Ukraine, you might want to listen to a song from the popular local band from Kiev, Urban Gypsy. Try “Nagasaki” here on youtube. You’ll like it, and it would make a good reaction video.
Search for "L'Impératrice @ La Felicità for Drop" it's such a great live show in a small venue and tons of close ups of the performers.
All their stuff is funky and so smart. Hope you dive into their discography!
Indeed, so many funky songs to love. Fou, Voodoo, Lé-Haut etc. And they all sound so unique, which isn't the case with many bands / artists.
Thanks for making me discovering that French band...while I am French! So creative, funky with modern feel in it
I'm mostly a metal head and I became obsessed with this band last year. The bass player is amazing.
Man you should’ve been at their DC show last April. Shit was extremely high energy and fun w high musicianship of course
If I knew about them in April I would have been there!! Next time brother
Parcels and l imperatrice son los mejores!! Saludos desde Argentina!!!! Ojala hagas mas reacciones a estas bandas!!!
So glad you felt the same about the bass, it's fucking beautifully quiet at points and punchy and driving in others. Always in the groove.
Doubt I click on without your post MP, thnx once again Boss! THANK YOU ALL Who have Served US!!! Joy Filled Fourth….

OMG I cant believe you reacted to these guys. They are incredible
finally L'Imperatrice gets some love! If you guys dig this check out their full live set ARTE CONCERT - French Parcels!
fun fact:
in the thumbnail it's written "Puer" instead of "Peur", "Puer" means Stink while "Peur" means Fear.
Reading this i was like: what?
Puer means child in latin...
@@eric0dujardin yess hi fellow latinist

Bro this is one of my favourite bands right now and I only know one person that appreciates them too. So stoked to see this reaction 🤙

Never heard of them; they're great!
They’re incredible. Vanille Fraise is one of the best tunes ever made
The song is even better when you understand the lyrics
They are absolutely amazing!! Thanks for making this video, really interesting reaction/analysis as always.
Best Bass player of all french music, all time for real
This band is killer! Saw them in Stockholm this year. The guitar and bass players went hard and had so much fun together!
Thank you Michael for sharing this… this was amazing
You referenced Talking Heads. I thought of Deee-Lite because of the female lead singer
Peur des Filles ( Scared of Girls ) L'Imperatrice ( The imperatrice!;) )
I also would not have watched without it being you who posted. Amazing video. Loved it.
Found this band a few months ago and absolutely love it
Dawg Agitations Tropicales IS A BANGER A1 CERTIFIED FRESH
To my ear I would define this as Talking Heads does Funky smooth jazz
Michael, amazing video! You should've reacted to their ''voodoo'' live performance, pure gold. Love your videos and L'Impératrice)
Agree!
amazing video yet again
I've been obsessed with this band for the past year. Hope they release some new material soon.
@T Thanks for the heads up!
They're just awesome

🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷 France is a very electro funk country
Hah, didn’t see this coming… What a trip! 🔥🎸🐶
Great one, Michael!

Just ordered my Prs Silversky SE dragonfruit, upgrading from 15 year old Ibanez gio 🤙
❤😊 Fun reaction
Le bassiste de l'impératrice
Very Cool! Smooth Funk!!
The bassist is badass
Would love to see some Liam St John on here. Just found him on TikTok the other day!
The empress « scare of girls »

Une correction me semble évidente.
Do you think they're playing live? I have my doubts.

Amazing algorithm find!!!! Like…it read
My brain 😂
Didn't these guys open for ZZ Top in '84?
puer des filles is written on your video thumbnail, it means "stink girls"
Woo Parmaggiano
please do lauryn hill's "i gotta find peace of mind" and "just like water"
Isn't this Acid Jazz?
Puer des filles j'suis mort
Take the time to translate the lyrics. They are smart and incredibly funny
everytime i want to tell someone about your videos i end up saying michael parmigiano and i´m sorry for that
French touch powa 😇
Hi dude i love your job and your analyzes but its possible to change your title because in french puer is "stink" and peur means "afraid of"
thks
Talking Heads + Sade
hahah Puer means something else.... :)
