Hard not to be awkward in this situation on either side. Lot of darkness surrounding the entire thing, questions can't be taken lightly and its never been spoken on before. If you factor in all aspects it was about as cordial and "not awkward" as it really could have been.

Because the world is black and white, good is good, and evil is evil, and we should never learn anything about people who did bad things. Benoit had the brain of an 80 year old, CTE is a real thing that we are still learning about today, and we've heard countless stories that highlight the good and bad parts of him.
I'm not advocating that he should be in the Hall of Fame, because thats stupid. You don't put murderers in. But it would be interesting to see what kind of person Benoit was during David's childhood.

It is so tragic and so sad what happened to Chris, his wife and that poor little boy but I do not believe that Chris did it out of malic. That's not all the way true. Multiple people have tried to train him for free but he either doesn't show up or stops going after a few days.
I'm sure he has his reasons but you can't take him serious ad a wrestler if he isn't willing to complete the free training that's been offered. It is dangerous to him and his opponent if he isn't trained properly. Remember wrestling is staged by amazing performers who trained alot to do what they do.

He's not taking any roads, he calls people for interviews when he wants attention, but is putting absolutely no effort into getting trained (and doesn't look like he's ever seen a weight room). He was going to Lance Storm's school and one day just stopped showing up. He makes enough money to leave his job and go to school, if he hasn't done it yet he isn't going to.

Totally not crying rn. Chris was my childhood hero. When he passed, it was a major blow to me as a 10 year old kid. 7 years later I lost another hero in my grandfather, who took his life in 2014. My grandfather wanted me to be a professional wrestler, now at age 24, I'm actually considering it because I wanna make my grandpa proud. Seeing something with the same dream in this interview gave me the motivation to take the steps I need to take to do so. Make your dad proud David and never give up

Ive been in the ring. Technically i could be like David. My dad was a brief wrestler. But Honestly I cant put it into words how it felt. I remember getting to the site and walking in. I remember turning the corner and looking into the room with the ring. I was nervous & scared until coach said alright time to get in the ring. Ive always respected & admired the men & women who put their bodies on the line. But that day is a memory Ill cherish forever. I admit I underestimated it and it wore me out. My legs were like spaghetti the next couple days. But it only furthered my passion.

I have a tonne of respect for this guy man. I was exactly the same age as him when my dad died and my dad didn’t die or leave a negative stigma with his passing. You can feel the atmosphere of the interview. It's like he wanted to say so much and it was hard to push it out, with Chris genuinely trying to pull thigs out of him helping him. David wants a way out of the shadows. The fact he has admiration for his own father as a wrestler... he called him "My hero". Man.. a son that has that sense of forgiveness for what has happened and the face he made when Chris mentioned how WWE handles the whole thing, canceling his father... well... speaks volume and it's truly emotional. I really wish all the best to this man, we have the same first name.
Dunno what he's doing now, 3 years later, he definitely has advisors like Chris Jericho and others big names like that so I'm sure he's doing the best for himself. I loved watching his father when I was a teenager, I'll definitely enjoy watching David if he really makes it through the shit a lot of people will throw at him. Enormous boots to fir for real but he's got the balls to not let the dream fade or get washed away.

I feel like that was a part of Jericho's way of honoring Chris in anyway he could after the tragedy, by making sure his only son is well taken care of and helping him in any way that he could. Jericho is legit an amazing dude for that.

Kurofune Senchou watchin Jericho on AEW, it mine boggles me that wwe never let him used a lot of his ideas. Don’t pay attention much to wwe now when he was there a couple years ago, but He’s brilliant in AEW. I remember his wwf days/early wwe days and his character was great. But man AEW really revived him. Reminds me of his old Y2J days.

I'm just a mere fan, and to this day I feel bad about it all, as people are still so eager to blame Benoit for his actions as if there was no chance of some sort of psychological reason being involved just because "he could find his way to an airport". As if they knew about the human mind and what may have been happening in his head. YES, it was a huge tragedy, but... that's how life is sometimes: stuff keeps piling up until a tragedy happens, and then instead of learning from it we just blame the person involved and move on. Kinda like when you see people snap because of bullying, and instead of treating it as a serious issue we have those idiots claiming that "durh durh someone also punched me one time and I didn't kill anyone because of it derd derp", as if the human mind was simple as that.
As I said, I have my own issues and have been going through therapy for some time now, and I can only relate to what he may be feeling and how hard it is to be at peace with what's going on inside of us, even if my issues aren't the same as his. He seems like a genuinely great person, someone who would be great to talk to, and I hope he finds his way to a wrestling ring and live his passion. I also hope that he keeps cherishing all the memories he has of Benoit, because he has every reason and right in the world to miss his father and remember him for the good times. God bless David.

Yes it was heartbreaking. But think God was sparing his life. If there was a chance he was in that house he more than likely would have been killed. I don’t think Chris would have done it on purpose but we all know he wasn’t in his right mind during that time. He had a few moments of clarity but for the most part his was out of his mind. Anyone who knew chris would say that he wasn’t a monster, but even regular men especially if they have such intense head trauma they eventually snap and lose control

As someone who is going to school for journalism, I can’t express how an amazing of a job I think Chris did. Such a hard and tricky interview. Chris did an amazing job filling gaps and keeping the conversation flowing. He made David comfortable which made the interview comfortable to watch. Thank you David for opening up.

@@floyd2386 I thought the same. He wanted to use every thing his Dad used. But I think it would be cool, to like, rebuild the name but would do different in terms of technical wrestling skills. Natalya does it. Charlotte does it. Use a few things that her father used, gear, music, moveset but added/modify her own moveset.

Chris Benoit was legitimately top 3 in ring performers of all time. People refer to Randy Orton being “smooth” in the ring and that’s exactly how Benoit was. Dude was just so believable in every move he did. Such a drastic change that you see in wrestling today.

Yeah the kid was an unfortunate casualty and maybe a driving force into benoits suicide I really wonder if the kid wasn’t there what would of ended up happening would Benoit not of taken him and Daniel out and maybe just went to prison? Who knows
And I say casualty out of respect I just mean he wasn’t the driving force Benoit never snapped cause of the son and that’s not based on speculation it’s based on every fact jn this case and common sense , even when he took him out it was a whole day later he googled how to resurrect son in the book of Isaiah and he also made sure he was sedated with Xanax when he did the unspeakable act it’s mild compassion to an act that has no compassion so it’s hard to even say that but that’s still the case facts

My mom, dad & brother all committed suicide in 2014,15,16 it sucked at the time but in the end it made me grow up & be alot more mature with life, everything happens for a reason, rather it's good or bad there's a reason for everything!❤

I think we need to applaud the media for letting his surviving family live in peace. Ignoring their existence was the only option to allow them any semblance of a normal life.

Being a die hard Chris Benoit fan, it makes me wanna tear up listening to David talk about his father. I’m rooting for him all the way and can’t wait to see him in the ring.
I met Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero within the span of a few minutes, right after a show. Got their autographs and spoke to them briefly. I said something like "you had a great match." Benoit said "thank you." He seemed very tired. He even seemed a little bit reluctant to give an autograph at first. Probably one of the most exciting moments of my life.
That's cool that you got to meet them before they both died. I would have loved to have met them.

This is weird because when I met them they were together and both tired as well? It was in Kelowna some time before summer slam ow Eddie had his mullet his shirt off and a towel around his neck and Benoit had a shirt jeans and they both drove off in a Chrysler with Benoit driving and I didn’t get the chance to cause when I saw this they tried to leave quickly we’re gassed, both wrestled last two matches though so made sense, and.they had a two hour drive to Kamloops the next night, I remember so much because it was such. Great thing to see at the time and I’ve stored it in my memory given what happened afterwards, and what’s cooler is one year later they came to our small city of Kelowna for smackdown in 03 after vengeance and I saw Benoit and Eddie third row start the show off in a match I actually helped start a Benoit chant (Kelowna bc CAnada) so staying true, and that show also saw Cena vs taker and brock turn heel on McMahon and angle

That's tough, you can tell he looks up to his dad like an ABSOLUTE superhero and wants to carry on the name and legacy, but it will always come back to what happened that day. I feel for him, seems real gentle and good natured dude, hope he doesn't ever get held back or feel hesitant from doing what he wants.

This is the best interview you've ever done - Thank you for this. As a 30 year WWE fan, this is the biggest incident in wrestling history.
You can hear the pain in his voice when remembering his father but the joy and excitement to remind everyone how he was such a great man outside of his final days.
@d R WWE isnt as simple as it seems, people this oh it's some scripted shit and is a child's play. You can get underpaid made do things like kissing someone wife and other things.
@d R DramaLifeNy clearly said outside of his last days, listen to Chris's friends or Vickie Guerrero talk about him, or just watch the Dark Side of the Ring episode, those final days obviously made him dispised but everyone loved him till those final days, but even still I understand where you're coming from
@d R Chris had brain damage, the autopsy showed that it looked like an 80 year old Alzheimers patient. He also had an enlarged heart due to steroid abuse and was suffering from severe depression. Benoit's body was not the same as it was, that wasn't the guy his son David knew.
