6:56 Coury, go into Ex-Zodiac's Options > Display Setup > & set the Aspect Ratio to so-called 16:10 to fill the Steam Deck's full 1280×800p screen w/ graphics, rather than having those 40-line black bars on the top & bottom. It's not stretching, the game will actually render in all the screen's available area now so you see more on the top & bottom, even if only 80 lines more (or in actuality probably under a couple dozen upscaled lines more if you stick to the game's Retro low-res style mode), but on aesthetic/presence grounds alone it's still worth it IMO. The only downside is you'll have to switch Ex-Zodiac back to 16:9 whenever you dock your Deck to get rid of the new black bars on the left & right to fill a full 16:9 TV or monitor again.
Congrats, 10 years is a long time, even longer in internet years. To be able to stay relevant, consistently up your production quality and hook all of us in with every single upload is an impressive feat and something to be lauded. I've not been here the whole 10 years, I stumbled across the channel in 2018 and, without too many details, will say it was and is one of a few major factors as to why I'm even alive today. So thanks and again, congrats guy, truly!.
[Try4ce] We're so glad you're here! It's amazing to hear that. I'm sorry that we have not been as consistent with video releases this year as we have been in the past, but I took on a lot of extra work earlier this year that took time away from MLiG. Those projects are done now though, and we're primed to get back on track!
@@mylifeingaming I catch up on the stream vods often enough so I'm well aware of just how much time and effort goes into your line(s) of work, to expect more from you would be silly on my part! Keep it up and continue to enjoy what you do.
The Flip Grip will still work with the OLED Switch if you rotate it 180 degrees. It won't lock in but the friction should keep it in, but still great for couch/home use.
On HDCP splitters: Genki just launched a Kickstarter for the Shadowcast Pro 2, which does exactly that! The original Shadowcast already stripped HDCP, and this new one adds a passthrough port for splitting. It seems like exactly what Try needed for the PS3 and PSTV!
I'm a handheld retro player, but as my son is getting older and getting the newer consoles I find myself with his past consoles now. I usually just plug in a new console when I am ready to play it but the HP Retro Vision YPbPr RCA Extention Cable may be a faster solution, so thanks for that. Congrats on the 10 years! That is awesome! Crazy how much stuff is out there for Retro Gamers!
I’ve been a console gamer my whole life. Never did the PC thing. So I’m amazed that the Steam Deck has become my favorite way to play games. Like, ever.
My setup is basically centered around console mods. All my consoles are modded, in some way, to max the audio/video quality of said console. Afterwards, I rely on flashcarts and ODE’s to avoid the inflated cost of after market prices. When I get around to assembling my game room, I have one of each gcomp and gscart switcher, and an hdmi switch as well. These will be routed through an AV receiver, or video scaler, where/when it’s needed. Right now, I have 2 video monitors: A Sony Trinitron XBR960, and a Sony Bravia w. VGA optional input and 3D functionality. No 4K at present, just 1080i/p. Thanks to your help, I’ve been able to acquire my dream list of vintage scalers and line multipliers: WAKA up-scan converter, The OSSC, Micomsoft XRGB-3 and XSelect D4 (English patched menu and remote), Lumigen Vision HDQ, PMS Crystalio ii 3800. Still holding out for a decently priced ISCAN VP-50 Pro. You guys have also helped me keep pace with what’s currently taking place in the vintage gaming scene. I’m starting to trail behind. But, that’s because it’s time for me to transition into my next big life project (whatever it may be). Without your channels influence I never would have been able to make this dream a reality. Teamwork makes the dream work. 🎉
I really like the Tribute 64 Wireless controllers by Retro-Bit for N64. 2.4 gHz connectivity for low lag, and dongles for both N64 and USB systems like the Switch. They also made the Prism component cables that I'm using on my Gamecube.
The audio for the section starting at 9:48 sounds really off for some reason. It wasn't an issue when I watched it previously, so it must be something on TH-cam's end
@@mylifeingaming That sucks. Hopefully that doesn't happen again, but I wonder if it does, if you could get around the audio quality issues by uploading in surround: have the music go to L & R, and everything else in the centre channel
Hey, recent viewer here! Congrats on your 10 year anniversary! Putting out projects together after such a long time is really nice to see, hope to see you guys still doing projects together for a long time! 😅 Cheers!
Best retro channel of all time. Taught me so much. Now I'm rocking pvms, everdrives, terraonion ode's. The one thing you guys don't mention is how handy a hanging shoe rack works for controller storage ;)
The MemCard Pro GC is one of the best accessories I’ve ever used. It’s simple and it just works. As someone who got burned too many times with crappy 3rd party memory cards as a kid, I really do love this thing.
I love the 8BitDo M30! Before I could afford a switch pro controller and just wanted something better than the joy-cons, I got two M30s and still use them as much as possible.
Regarding controllers, with Hall Effect joysticks becoming more common a used name, and remembering the feel of my Dreamcast's 1st party controllers joystick, I did invest in two controllers with Hall Effect joysticks. I got a previous generation XBox Elite controller (the one that needed the proprietary XBox controller adaptor instead of Bluetooth) for PC use, and the 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth controller. While there are game design choices that need to be accounted for (The Binding of Isaac, as a convenient example, will sometimes reverse the direction you intend to fire a "charged" weapon due to the accuracy at which the joystick reads and the increased bounce back of a controller not restricted by friction causing a single input from the other joystick direction before becoming neutral enough to read a "fire" command) I can attest the the smoothness and extended lifetime of these parts make then a worthwhile premium. And both devices, 1st party or 3rd party, are of an equally premium quality. You begin to start looking at niche differences for your experience and use case. But when you're paying the same price for a controller as for a game or two, It might be worthwhile to think about your end user experience in a long tern sense.
Special Request: Please don’t ever change your intro music. I first discovered MLIG while on vacation 4 years ago, and spent some of that vacation binging you at night before bed. Now every time you post an episode, your music triggers feelings of being on vacation. Please don’t ever take that away from me😊
9:25 Shower method Brother, I am so anal about this I used to always buy multiple because if there was a spec of dust under the screen protector it would bother me. But I have found a process with a near 100% rate of being perfect. Don't even remember where I saw it, but it was on youtube somewhere. The shower method. Basically, what you do is you turn on your shower to full hot and close the door and let it get steamy in there. Take both the system you are going to attach to and stuff you will use. I usually try to separate out the stuff in the glass kit from its cardboard or other papers that produce dust, just take what you need basically. Let all the items come to temp in there. Then wipe your screen down a few times as it may be slightly foggy dependent on the room and you ideally want the device to normalize to the temp. Hopefully the kit you have has stickers to pull dust over just wipes as these produce dust too. If not find something sticky to lap any dust on the screen and attach your protector based on the instructions in the kit. The room having the high humidity pushes all the dust down. There should be almost no dust to absolutely no dust in the air. I have done this no less than around 11 times at this point and only ever messed up on the first one. All others have been perfect. Both my vita's, both my switches and all of my retro consoles have perfect glass protectors. Hell, on things like the switch people didn't even believe me that there was a glass protector on it.
Someone really should start a wiki of all mods, controllers, and add-ons -- with links to project pages and sellers, notes on updates, and what alternatives may have come before or since. It's so easy to lose track of what used to be the go-to solution, and it's not even being made now, or something way better exists that I didn't know about.
I know you guys are aware of it, but I was surprised when talking about save file preservation the Epilogue GB Operator (by the people at Analogue) wasn't mentioned. That thing gets so much use from me.
13:35 This was the case for basically every second-party controller, not only on Nintendo consoles but at least for the buttons on Sony consoles. Hudson, ASCII, Hori, you name it.
The 8BitDo Pro 2 is still by far my favorite controller to use for just about everything (keeping in mind I don't use much in the way of OG retro console hardware anymore). I'd recently found that a lot of older PC titles like the Ys 6 era games, work without issue if you utilize DirectInput mode rather than the more modern X-Input mode, so it's great to have that backward feature. Their Ultimate controllers have some great features and an included dock, but their central cluster of buttons drive me crazy and I often overshoot the Start/Select buttons and hit the controllers' turbo or profile buttons that are in the same area and have the same shape and feel. Something I hope they improve upon in newer versions.
Congratulations on 10 years! I've only been here since you collabed with John Linneman for your PS2 RGB video but I've been loving all of the content since then. May your next 10 years be just as fruitful.
Small but cool improvement I've made was stumbling across a pair of Hudson/Sansui NES controllers. They're modeled after (and probably use) OEM Famicom controller parts, but with turbo switches. Never thought I'd find a replacement for first-party NES controllers but they really are the ideal way to play for me!
I absolutely love my gcomp component switch. I don't see it, I don't touch it, but I know it's value each and every time I power up one of my connected retro consoles. This video was a great idea. Thanks for sharing. This is the kind of thing that brings awareness to us retro freaks. We never know what solution might show up next!
One day I'll commit to sorting out a proper retro gaming set up and I'll be revisiting videos like this one to remind me of what accessories I'll be needing.
Thanks for the tip on magnetic charging cables! Smart & Cool doesn't seem to have USB C tips so I got a VOLTA Spark cable. It's nice to not have to fumble around to insert the cable: the cable just snaps into place. This may seem like a small thing, but it's a great upgrade!
I started using an 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ controller with my Switch and I recommend it as an alternative to the Switch Pro Controller, especially after my original Pro Controller started drifting and a brand new one drifted as soon as I used it. They don't make the SN30 Pro+ anymore from what I can tell but there is an updated version which I also have (SN30 Pro 2 I think it's called). It also makes a great controller for PC games. Also, I just wanted to say that this channel is one of my favorite gaming channels. All the content is quality and your videos have been incredibly useful for all the retro console needs I've run across. What you two do is definitely appreciated!
I wasn’t huge on the RetroFighters controller either for N64. It feels good for most games but racing games are impossible to control with that stick. Also, what is the starfox clone Coury has playing in the background? It looks awesome
I do not know how much y'all read the comments but this is legitimately my favorite TH-cam channel I have been watching on and off for many years now and though I do not always agree with your conclusions its always fun to see how y'all do things!!!!
Interesting to see how you guys do things with accessories both in the past and currently, there are so many options for different set ups. I also share how I capture and play with videos, as I found it confusing at first when I started buying older consoles. Thanks for the video.
Good to see how y'all's setups evolved over the years. After watching your setups long time ago, I was inspired to do my own setups and so far, I think I'm happy with my current setup, though I wish I could do better. Most of my modern consoles are hooked up to a 7 in 1 out HDMI switcher, which is all I could do. All that's hooked up to my 4 x 2 HDMI switcher, which connects 2 out for my TV and capture card, while the 4 is with my retro consoles, which most of them are hooked to the Retrotink, but I can't imagine when the 4K device is ready. My setup ain't the prettiest, but I got the job done.
I was sceptical when the 8bitdo SNK Joypad arrived. I had to know what the fuzz is all about with the clicky D-pad. First impression just out of the box felt underwhelming and strange. After connecting the controller and playing a bit my oppinion changed and while not replacing my M30 it has its merrits in some scenarios. Smash TV felt great, Thunderforce 3 was horrible.
In terms of the GameCube Carby, I will say I've been very happy with Kaico's HDMI adapters / line doublers. I'm using them with my Nintendo 64, which takes the s-video signal, line doubles it and converts it to HDMI, my Dreamcast, which takes the VGA output and converts that to clean HDMI, and my original Xbox. I'm really happy with the quality of them, especially at the price.
My favorite accessory is kinda silly. I only have an SFC. So to get around the physical region locking to play my SNES carts, I use an SFC Xband. You definitely need the extra vertical clearance, but if you're looking for an officially licensed solution, I've never had an issue with it.
Congrats on your 10 years anniversary!!! I've started following your channel since 2018 and it facilitates us gamers with many options to choose to improve the quality of gaming experience!!! Some of my systems are modded (NES, N64) while other have HDMI plug n' play (SNES, GCN, PS2). I would love more to hear of RGB 200 episode in regards to the Wii and the Original Xbox
Congrats on 10 years! Also, when are you guys going to be finishing up Analog Frontiers?! It's been over two years since the last installment! WTF?! Please release another one soon.
[Try4ce] Huge apologies for the long wait on the fourth (and final) part. After I do a RetroTINK 4K preview video and a quick video on a new SNES mod, I'm going to get back to it and finally finish it off!
@@mylifeingamingWhen could we expect Cory’s episode about his extron Set up? I can’t wait for this episode because I am looking forward of having a setup with multiple outputs that can support RGB and component from multiple systems. Thanks for the awsome Vids.
I dont know why but for some reason modding handhelds is just so fun. Modding my gba was a blast and playing it afterwards was a game changer. Next is to aesthetically customize my vita
The issue with newer Xbox controllers not working with the Wingman XB or BlueRetro adapters can be worked around. In the Xbox controller settings, there's an option to downgrade the firmware to one compatible with regular Bluetooth rather than BLE. After this, the controllers work fine with older receivers.
Speaking of products to upgrade your experience, would you guys consider doing a follow up to your Gameboy Modding video? The lineup of kits they have now is a lot more user friendly to put together, fix a lot of issues like the flickering, and they tend to be laminated to actually keep dust out. I've just gotten back into gameboy modding myself after a few years of hiatus because of how impressive they are
A very interesting episode, thank you! I'm using a SNES2GC adapter that's being sold on eBay for whenever I play GBA Games on the GameCube, and even for a lot of GameCube games, actually. In combination with a SNES BT adapter from 8BitDo, this neat little device allows me to use almost every single BT controller available on my unmodified GC. I know, it's BT, which a lot of people don't like yadda yadda yadda... but to be honest, I can't perceive any input lag whatsoever with it, like ever. The 25 € it cost me almost feel like a steal, considering how well the device works, and because of the countless options for GC controllers it provides. The Raphnet cables for Wii controllers and so on are also a nice option to have, but after hundreds of hours of testing various combinations, I still prefer the little SNES2GC adapter over pretty much everything else. And don't get me wrong, I really like the Wavebird and the OG wired controllers, too. But in order to minimize wear and tear on those, whenever I want to play wireless, I'm using the awesome adapter from eBay.
I bought the PS3 Memory Adapter back then, without having much Thought into it. It has become very handy over the Years, as you can just save your whole Memory Card from the PS1/2 on the PS3 and wipe it to use it for other Games. Than you can just transfare Data back, if needed. This works also on the PS3 Models that do not support the PS2, as it is just Softwarewise implemented. Thanks to Memcard Rex, i was now also able to backup my PSX Save Games on the PC and proceed some old Files from there... Incredible TImes :D
Honestly, I went with the expansion cards for the Series X. Got a 1TB at launch, and then the 2TB recently. Not worrying about where current gen games need to be installed just keeps things simple for me, and my current gen library far outweighs my backwards compatible library in combined filesize. I did get the 2TB Samsung 980 on sale for my PS5 though. Much cheaper and surprisingly easy to install.
This video made me realize that yes, I play nearly all my retro collections on Switch, and the Pro Controller also has my least favorite d-pad of any modern controllers. Is it that I like the abuse???
Two things about the Factor box ad, 1. The heavy drop to the floor - gotta test the durability of those ready meals. 2. Your face before the forkful went in 😂 Congrats on the 10 years!
Nicely detailed episode, really useful to help us know alternatives, specially the wireless dongles. I opted for good quality SCART RGB cables, original wired controllers + one wireless controller for each console, original memory cards + one multipage memory card for some consoles, and internal/external jailbreak and/or Everdrives to make booting a game as lazy as possible. The most difficult part is organizing dozens of cables in a way that they stay out of sight, which I'll have to do again because I'm not happy with the current setup... 😞
These are the best accessories in my setup: A Retrofighters Defender for PS Classic and PS2. It's pressure sensitive and 2,4 GHz. A Packapunch Scart cable for my PS2. It looks good on my 2008 flat screen, but the deinterlacing in the TV adds input lag and the TV can't read 480p signal from it. That's why I just ordered a GBS-C fully assembled from Kaico. I know OSSC or Retrotink products might be better, but they also cost multiple times what I paid for the GBS-C here in Europe. A RAD2X for my Gamecube, not because it's the best solution but it was easily the most affordable here on the old continent. And supports RGB so it's good enough for me. And finally a Brook's Wingman XE for my PS3. I love the Dualsense, and despise the Dualshock 3, so now I have a sixaxis capable controller that feels better than the original. Now I'm planning for a Dreamcast setup, and your videos help me a lot. I just need to find a console that's reasonably priced. 150 € feels steep, since I know the video solutions and GDEMU are going to cost a lot more on top of it.
Congrats on 10 years! Recently I was looking to help my BIL launch Japanese GC games from a US GC, but the Action Replay was out of his price range. Luckily, he already had several GC games that could run a hacked save to run Swiss. I already had an Action Replay myself, so I was able to use an updated version of Swiss and a utility called Gamecube Memory Manager. Uploaded a save for some Frogger game he never wanted to play again, and boom, he’s got a way into Swiss now. It’s good to have a backup way into Swiss if you lose your Action Replay disc somehow. I use a Monoprice Blackbird 4k60 hdmi matrix switch to send HDMI to a 4ktv and a capture card. Has 4 inputs that I have on an OSSC, PS3, Xbox 360, and one empty if I want to connect a PS5 or Xbox Series X to it as well.
Since the newest console I own is an N64, I continue to use the Micomsoft XRGB2 and XRGB3 line-doublers, connected to an old 22-inch CRT monitor made by Philips. Depending on the console, I use either RGB over JP21 (NES/Genesis) or S-video (SNES, PS1, N64, Commodore 64). I then use an Extron 3-port VGA switcher to switch between the XRGB2, XRGB3, and my main PC. The switcher has dual outputs as well so I can route a 2nd output to my Ephiphan VGA capture device. Whole setup is mostly original hardware and near-lag-free.
Great episode. I have to say controller wise, I use the 8bitdo SN30 Pro religiously for NES, SNES, GBA, and even 2D PS1 games. Probably my favorite controller to use for those systems.
The problem with the thumbstick covers on the Steam Deck is that those sticks are capacitive. They know when they're being touched and there's functionality you can attached to that feature with Steam Input.
One specific thing I have in my setup are two Super NESes, with two Super Game Boy 2s, with two copies of Tetris, and a Game Link cable. Using HDMI cables, as well as an HDMI multiviewer (to view both screens simultaneously), two-player classic Game Boy Tetris is possible on my TV. (Of course, now you can see the other person's screen and anticipate things...) I think of it as the most complex way to play the simplest Nintendo game, which is still pretty intuitive, yet still impresses guests.
My favorite accesory this year is the Armor X Pro for the Series controllers. Gives you 4 back paddles, Gyro (with a program that lets you simulate the Right Analog as Gyro and config through an android app) and it can work on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Also if you connect it to PC you can choose between those 3 modes (Xbox, PS, Ninten) to have better compatibility with the features. Also, it works as a battery for the controller.
on wireless controllers: you totally glossed over the dual console wingman adapters from brook! I bought them primarily for usb arcade sticks and kinda forgot they do wireless, lol. so I already have ps1/2, dc/saturn, and nes/snes. achieving a full wireless setup seemed intimidating but I'm about half way there with just three adapters!
I have to say that the wireless version of the retrofighters dreamcast controller is a big improvement from the wired version, only downside is you only get 1 memory card slot to use instead of 2. i wish i could say for the same on the wireless n64 controller but i get input drops all the time with that one so i just use a bluetooth adapter and play with the bluetooth brawler 64 instead as it doesnt have the input dropping on me
I bought the Hori GameCube digital controller back in the day when it saw a limited US release (Some video rental chain was selling them in-store and online, I think Hollywood Video?). It barely saw any Game Boy Player action and in my opinion isn't a good match. The GameCube's button layout that Hori copied is simply awful for many Game Boy games. My go to choice these days for the Game Boy Player is Raphnet's Wii Classic Controller to GameCube adapter paired with a SNES Classic Edition gamepad. Works perfectly with GameCube B and A mapped to SNES Y and B (just remember to hold down X when powering the system on so that the adapter knows to switch to the Game Boy Player mapping). And when holding down the A button upon bootup so that B and A are mapped to GameCube B & A, you can even use the NES Classic Edition controller for GB/GBC games. Also is a great way if one wants to revisit Mega Man Anniversary Collection on the GameCube, letting you fix the swapped buttons that the collection infamously did on the Cube (hold down Y at startup to switch to the MMAC mapping). One can even use 8BitDo's 2.4g controllers with the NES/SNES Classic Edition receivers with this setup for a wireless Game Boy Player setup. Thanks to the low lag of the Raphnet adapter (less than 4ms in my testing) combined with the low lag of 8BitDo's 2.4g technology, it's quite a viable option for wireless Game Boy Player gaming for those that don't find the Wavebird a great choice for the GBP (I'd advise against 8BitDo's standalone Bluetooth receiver for the NES/SNES Mini due to the noticeable lag that it causes, but I assume it too would work here). Lastly, they also sell a SNES to GameCube adapter with a similar feature set.
[Try4ce] Hmmm I don't see the layout issue because A and B are positioned relative to each other in the same way as a GBA. It's not good for something like SNES games on a Wii though, since the layout doesn't translate well to an SNES controller.
@@mylifeingaming Fair enough, but it sure wasn't/isn't a good match for my hands (I still have the Hori and utilize it on occasion with some things like arcade compilations). At the very least perhaps my post might help a GameCube fan out that wasn't lucky enough to buy a Hori back when they were new (it was only $20 or so new, but obviously those days are long past). Paired with one's favorite variation of a Wii Classic Controller, the Raphnet adapter is an economical option today for a solid digital gamepad for the Game Boy Player.
3:19 I tried using the Performance Mega Memory Card (360 Blocks, 15 per memory bank), and works with most PlayStation games BUT Gran Turismo 2. Once I buy a MemCard Pro this December, I just hope Gran Turismo 2 saves my system data properly like on most 15 block memory cards.
I'd love to see a video on the non gaming specific things you use! Like the trays you use to lift consoles up so you can have two on a shelf, the magnetic usb adapters, etc. Love the work!
[Try4ce] Those are just glass monitor risers! Lots on Amazon for pretty cheap. Really gotta pay attention to the length, depth, and height when buying to make sure it'll suit the systems you need, though, as most are not as big as some of the ones I use.
I bought a laser printed Flip Grip style thing designed for the OLED on Etsy which does the job. My favourite controllers recently have been the Retro Fighters Defender BT for the PS3 and the 8bitdo F40 Limited Edition Ultimate Bluetooth Controller which is my go to for both Switch and Steam Deck. I am really looking forward to the Retro Fighters Hunter for Xbox and the wireless Dreamcast pad.
First ever video to get a sponser, and yet nearly ten years ago you guys started your channel. If you think yoru channel is old, you should look at channels that were created between 2005 - 2008, those channels will turn 15/20 years old this year or in the next few years. So there's that to consider. 00:09:50 Also, this doesn't sound right, it's muffled and it's as if audio compression took a huge hit. At least I can hear Try's voice that's for sure.
Great video as usual guys! Would love to see a video on your opinion of the new GameCube prism component cables from retro-bit. Thanks again guys for the premium content!!!
You guys are awesome. I love these types of videos especially when everyone can relate. By any-chance in the future can you give the original xbox some love. Most of the community still uses real hardware for the console, may it be hdd or disc. There is alot of passion in the reddit original xbox community. Like xbox2hdmi, makemhz, cerbios, wingman xb2 (the one in your video), the difference in the console variations (the 1.4 has the best video chip out of the three), and honestly it is not that expensive of a console to get into.
[Try4ce] I actually just bought the Xbox wireless adapter Coury showed in the video. I'm very excited to use that. I actually have my Xbox out for restoration right now, so hopefully I'll be in a better position to do more with Xbox in the near future.
Hey Try, next time you boot up a gamecube game just hold B and it will ask to go into progressive scan mode. That should save you the hassle of using the action replay for that reason.
I didn't even knew like 60% of these devices so thanks a lot for thid video! Happy 10 year anniversary. I started on TH-cam 2 years so I will definitely be following your steps to create great content! My setup is not that complex considering I only jave modern consoles. 1. I do use a lot of 8bitdo controllers like s30 and sn30pro but I honestly didn't felt any lag on the Switch nor on PC. 2. I have one LG C1 65 inches with a ps5, xbox series x, Switch, pc and ps3 connected into it. I do have my own space for captures so I decided to get a 4k 60hz splitter to get switch, pc, ps3 and elgato game capture to bypass image on tv while gameplay gets capture to my pc. I do use native capture recorders too. I use fightsticks for fighting gsmes, sn30pro for 2d games and retro gsmes, and s30 for sega genesis and sonic 2d games. I can keep going but I don't want to bore people😅
First of all, congratulations on 10 years. I've been watching for a very long time now. This opened my eyes a little. My plan is to build a cab that can handle 20-25 retro consoles. HDMI devices will be in another cab. The thing is, I can't put it in the front of the room, it has to be on the side of the room. Controllers and cables seem to be my holding point, I know the console far away, on the top shelf, is going to need 15+ feet of cable just to reach the couch where I play for example. Wireless, ok, 20+ consoles, wireless devices for each of them, I must be talking $1K at least for all this.... ouch. This is the ONLY thing that is holding me back (and besides the RetroTink 4K to hit, as my Framemeister needs to go)...
Another great episode guys, I'm loving the recently released 8BitDo Hall Effect N64 Joystick mod, simple install and a world apart difference to OEM! Cheap too at £18
I never knew this project existed, thanks for talking about it. I had my eye on the Steel Stick project for years but I think it died a quiet death and custom Etsy sellers are the ones carrying the torch. A hall effect option is awesome
*sigh* This episode is gonna cost me a lot of money, I can just feel it.
This video is gonna make me wish I had money.
It is. A lot of stuff that is hard to find in the market.
Yeah... I already want the memcard pro thingy for my Wii/GameCube. Oh no... It keeps coming!!
you guys got money?
@@dragonroot2616 Kinda. I'm lucky AND a bit suicidal.

It’s overwhelming how many retro things there are these days. It’s awesome.
The Flip Grip will still work with the OLED Switch if you rotate it 180 degrees. It won't lock in but the friction should keep it in, but still great for couch/home use.
I love this channel SO MUCH, you guys are by far the best at retro gaming coverage
Good to know! Thanks!
35:39 aaaaaaaaah amazing Evergrace music!
I’ve been a console gamer my whole life. Never did the PC thing. So I’m amazed that the Steam Deck has become my favorite way to play games. Like, ever.
Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary MLIG. Thank you for all you do, love you guys!
They also made the Prism component cables that I'm using on my Gamecube.
did coury just say "M30 on Saturn"?! that has been my obsession for years now and I can't believe it wasn't an option before now
The audio for the section starting at 9:48 sounds really off for some reason. It wasn't an issue when I watched it previously, so it must be something on TH-cam's end
[Try4ce] Unfortunately TH-cam had to re-process that part due to a music copyright claim. :/
These hardware videos, particularly about cables, are what I live for on this channel! Great stuff! Also, congrats on 10 years!
Does the 4K HDMI Audio Inserter fix the audio whenever my PS1digital switches resolution? i get audio dropouts on my capture card during those moments
[Try4ce] Sadly not. I was testing this recently as well.
Thanks for making this episode! I always learn about new options for my setup that I don't find on my own
Thanks Coury and Try :)
24:32 that cable management may well be the answer to world peace
Special Request: Please don’t ever change your intro music. I first discovered MLIG while on vacation 4 years ago, and spent some of that vacation binging you at night before bed. Now every time you post an episode, your music triggers feelings of being on vacation. Please don’t ever take that away from me😊
9:25 Shower method
Brother, I am so anal about this I used to always buy multiple because if there was a spec of dust under the screen protector it would bother me.
Hudson Soft also sold N64 pads with OEM parts.
6:08 what's the Starfox-lookin game running in the background there?
I cant believe ya'll been makin videos for 10 years, that's crazy. Thanks for sharing and continue to share. Cheers ya'll.
8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth is the best switch pro controller hands down. This is one of the few times where a 3rd party controller is far superior.
Literally playing EX-Zodiac on my Steam Deck right now too!
I didn't know they made a white m30 controller. Now I have to get a back up.
Just want to thank you guys for the extensive knowledge you’ve continuously brought to the community!!
Please do this every year or even more ofyen. Awesome. I learned alot!
Fantastic video! You all need to create some more videos. This was very helpful. Looking forward to seeing your setup.
Fantastic video! I watch all the stuff you guys put out, but *these* videos (and the ones about video quality) are the ones I love most.
Oh man, we preordered 2 of the MemCard Pro2 as soon as you mentioned it. FFX has been decimating our memory cards.
Could somebody recommend a good, fully shielded component-over-scart cable...?
These are the best accessories in my setup:
A Retrofighters Defender for PS Classic and PS2.
[Try4ce] Haha that's awesome to have that permanently set up. I respect it!
Gosh i missed yall. Finally some content. Probably if not the best channel for this stuff period.
The kings are back, love this channel
on wireless controllers: you totally glossed over the dual console wingman adapters from brook!
I also prefer the Action Replay for homebrew on my gamecube. I tried modding a DOL-001 but the soldering was scary as heck.
These accessory videos and seeing these sweet setups are about the closest thing to a wet dream one can experience . . . Minus the mess
God bless, brother. I was looking into getting a refurbished PS2 and that memory card looks like a lifesaver.
Ohhh ok, very cool! TY@@mylifeingaming
As always, high quality, thoughtful, and curated content.
The 8bitdo controllers are always amazing
Very lucky that as soon as i checked on the NSO N64 controller after watching this it was in stock. Mlig has #blessed me this day.
God that track from Lost Kingdoms almost brought a tear to my eye.
[Try4ce] I just beat it for the first time a month or two ago!
Great video as usual guys! Would love to see a video on your opinion of the new GameCube prism component cables from retro-bit. Thanks again guys for the premium content!!!
The channel deserves more engagement
16:45 perfect sync
[Try4ce] Oh yeah of course. But not all games support this. A lot of third-party games need it forced.
Yay!, more full fat MLiG content 🎉😎👏
I can keep going but I don't want to bore people😅
I just got the SNES to Neo Geo controller adapter, and freaking love it. I may get a 2nd now.
Anyone know which game is playing in the background at Coury's at the start? Looks like star fox but modern
It's a game I'm working on called Ex-Zodiac :)
