- My friend Elisabeth and I were invited to a birthday party on Capri so we decided to stay the night as there are no late ferries back to Positano.
We hitched a lift with one of Elisabeths boats (www.bluestarpositano.it)
We stayed at www.latoscahotel.com

17 yrs ago I was blessed to visit this very special place, which became one of my favorite places on earth.
14 yrs ago returned, this time with my Hawaiian friend who had never been off this island and she fell in love with Capri too! There were Tango dancers performing in the piazza under the clock one night - so enchanting. The second night there were fireworks above the Marina Piccola which we watched from our terrace, we could hardly believe the magic of Capri. I'm very happy you are able to enjoy some of your home without so many visitors, we also have almost no visitors here and have had a time to enjoy the solitude. Hydrangea's are some of my favorite flowers and which make beautiful Haku (head) Lei's. My mother has a huge one where she lived in Oregon, it was a Lace Cap variety and was so lovely in the summer, I used to make Haku Lei's with the blossoms for all birthday celebrations.

The Villa San Michelle was my favourite part on my visit to Capri, I was there in early oct 2018 and though every where else was packed the Villa was really quiet. And the story of Axel Munthe (especially his love for animals) was fascinating. Just lovely.

Heavenly! Thank you for taking us along, I’m really beginning to feel like I know your part of the world now, even the bits of Capri that you have taken us to, never thought I would say that.
I’m sure it will all be back to chaotic normality soon enough, well I hope so for the livelihoods of the people, but for me if only the world were healthy but this genteel again, so lucky you and lucky us to be able to see these places as they are seen at their best, not just noise and bodies.
The gardens and the singing of the crickets were so peaceful, I could just listen to that for hours! Oh and by the way the scarfs, all blue and turquoise on racks outside a shop o the way to the villa of the swedish doctor, are the colours I have been looking for for ages, next time you are there, could you pick me one up! Lol 😂
You live in a precious place with a wonderful family and lovely people around you, just thankful you share it, it certainly has helped me in these times of stress and uncertainty. 🤗🙏🤗🙏

Wow! The flowers on Capri were just stunning. It’s a shame that tourism has dropped off but at the same time to have the streets to yourself must be a joy. Everywhere you went there was a beautiful view but the best is always the sight of Positano as seen from the sea. Just eye wateringly gorgeous. Lucky, lucky you 🍀

While our travel to the EU is on hold, your videos are allowing me to experience Positano & Capri though your eyes and it brings me such happiness. Absolutely stunning, Nicki! Once again, keeping me company! Hoping for stitches out this upcoming week. I am sooo drooling over the incredible gardens, colors, walkways, your exquisite videos! These businesses are really struggling. I watch live webcams around the world and this is completely opposite of last year! Same here, Nicki. I am in DOYLESTOWN, Pa. A tourist town- I owned a restaurant. Exact opposite here, as well. So many businesses closed permanently. Very difficult to see. So very grateful to you for these. Someday.....

It’s unbelievably empty in Capri, not like I remember it. I have mixed feelings about Capri - one that is uplifting, inspiring, beautiful and one that is sad. There was an unexpected 3 tsunami waves on the same beach that you shown - the first one washed the first row of sunbathers, the second wave made the second row of people to run...my son who was 5 at that time and myself were swimming in the sea and thrown against these huge rock like little feathers. We were lucky that an Italian man saw my son and helped him to get on the beach while my son’s father was contemplating the scenery... I will never forget that. We could have lost our lives on that beach. Apparently, these unexpected small tsunami waves happen once in a while as the mount of Vesuvius is quite close.

I remember Capri in 1980, it was like this video in late October, last time I was in Capri in 2001 it was very crowded.I lived in Messina then but not now.

Oh my gosh-what a great video-I re-watched your May 2017 video hiking to the Arco Naturale with Holly🙂 November 2012 and stayed overnight-I too walked a trail and sat at the same bench and have video of a sweet cat walking along a stone wall on the trail-lucky cat-missed the Swedish villa tour with a group because I was too tired to get up early in the morning-enjoyed the rain and many walks-I revisited Capri July 2017 -this time included a boat tour around the island-always a fun time in Capri-a feast for the eyes-Love Capri-Love Italy🙂take care

It must be so difficult for businesses to survive who rely on tourism this year. It looks the way it did in 1981, when I took a trip there. Very few people. Somehow people made a go of it. We were there in peak season, and it was not hectic like Rome or Naples. I hope they'll find a way to sustain with fewer crowds, as it is a nicer experience for those who do visit.

Ooooh you just reminded me that I bought Axel Munthe's book - in Swedish! - when we were there in 2008. Can't believe it's been 12 years, I still recognize the road to the villa past the perfume shop. Next time I want to explore more, maybe go all the way down to Faraglioni. Yes, I definitely see more Capri in my future. As a future Swedish doctor I'm pretty much obliged to go, aren't I! ;)

How lovely to see a quiet Capri....it brings back memories of our visit there and the villa of San Michele ...
It's the same here in the U.K. Our sea side town is busy in school holidays...and us locals hate it but know it keeps our shops and restaurants in business so they are there when the visitors have left for the season..( ours is shorter) ..but are things are different to 1967 i I expect there were more locals living there then ..now many homes are holiday let's maybe or second homes.? The say this in Venice they are losing the residents and it's becoming a theme park.
Fifty years ago we were often in Italy. Unfortunately never in Positano or Capri. When I see your video it annoys me greatly not to have visited this beautiful isola, because at that time it must have been an idyll without the mass tourism.
