    The towel tip was amazing!! I really thought I'd never be able to do the roll up. And I have now tried it for about 5 minutes with the towel getting gradually thinner until I was then able to roll up without it. Thank you so so much!!

    Thank you, Thank you for the wonderful tip of using a towel!! I have arthritis in my hips. And although I can achieve the roll down, the roll up is difficult for this senior lady!! And I’m so glad you stated it’s NOT weak abs that is the issue!! And that using a towel is “NOT CHEATING”. That makes me feel so much better about myself. 🥰

    I WAS the woman who would flounder around on the floor like a salmon… not anymore!!
    That is incredible and certainly a confidence boost!! Thank you so much for sharing this Jessica

    So thankfully I randomly came across your video! I always get stuck on the roll up part, having to rely on momentum. But when I tried the towel trick with a very thin towel, it worked! I was shocked, honestly. Thank you so much!

    This towel idea works right away. I’ve always had problems exactly at the point you indicated which I get stuck in trying to curl back up. Just the extra coverage in the hollow of my back allows me to come right back up. Thanks so much Jessica for providing this very valuable segment.

    Was able to do first roll up after trying many times using the towel. Great tip. Just wondering if roll ups are safe if diagnosed with osteoporosis. Thanks in advance.

    • @JessicaValantPilates
      @JessicaValantPilates  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the person. I tend to avoid roll ups if there is osteoporosis present unless I can be there personally or train the person individually. I would ask your doctor!

  • @uweabraham3134

    Yes! that makes alot of sense to use aids so you dont try and do jerky movement when coming back up .And you can use gravity going down to strengthen as you progress so you can do both rolling up and down smoothly!!👍

      Jessica Valant Pilates I did try it and you were right where it was problematic. I did try it again with a towel and it was better but still challenging. It’s possible that it wasn’t in the right place to be more helpful but I did get up.

    I used to be able to do these and did them well. Then I had 2 C sections and even after 19 years, can no longer roll up. I can roll just a bit and then can't go any further. It's pretty discouraging, but my Pilates coach shared that with me and it was a light bulb moment for me.

    My barre class does this often. Is it safe for prolapse?

  • @nagdeolife
    @nagdeolife ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It didn't work the first time. So I folded the towel in half again, and made a thicker roll. Then I was able to come up, but my legs left the ground. Thanks for the tip, Jessica.
    I also find i can do roll-ups in bed. Just not on a bare floor.

    • @JessicaValantPilates
      @JessicaValantPilates  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once you are cleared by your doctor it is safe, but it takes a while to build back up to it! It probably took me six months to feel comfortable and strong in a roll up again after my surgery, and it was even better at a year.
