Had to transcript this saying of his at 30:46, best advice he ever said for artists: "There is always a risk. Could've been that doing this I could've made the drawing look awful. I could've regretted it immensely, but I don't regret. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. You just learn to go. Don't worry about it too much. There is always the next drawing. Sometimes people get too frustrated about it, not liking their own drawings. I don't like hardly any of my drawings. However I do like drawing, so I keep doing it. And the frustration for not liking my drawings, it channels it into moving forward to the next drawing."
I really love your outlook on art, Peter. You're just very inspiring. I feel like it's easy to get discouraged watching a lot of other artists on TH-cam, not because they say discouraging things or anything, but because there's this general obsession with owning the best supplies and creating a perfectly polished piece in the end. It's like an unspoken pressure hidden in the videos. I don't feel that at all when I watch you. You take anything and everything and just create with it, and you're really open about how you may not love a piece or how it may not be what you envisioned but you just create anyways. I've noticed in a lot of your videos you talk about "I just wanted to draw, so I just made myself get started" even though you didnt have a plan. It's just such a refreshing attitude and it makes art feel so much more accessible and enjoyable. Basically what I'm getting at is, thank you for putting yourself out there and being real about art and your process. Thank you for taking the pressure off on creating a masterpiece and instead making it okay to just create.
you know they sell those without the top coat so he could get one shiny one and just draw on that without the extra work of scratching off the top coat :P :D
I was watching your videos with my little sister today and I got up to get something, and when I came back she was asleep! But she wants you to know peter, it's not because you were boring, but because your voice is so soothing
There are times when I feel that I need to go back and try art; I've failed so many times. This was a very nice video, and every time I watch Peter draw I feel like I need to go back and try again. It's like suffering on the inside.
your videos made me regain the joy of drawing without overthinking or being self critical. like when I was a child and just drew for the sake of it. this is the best art related channel ive ever seen. I hope you keep uploading videos for a long time.
Two lines that curve can be parallel. They are (uncreatively) called parallel curves, and are just a generalised form of the geometry of parallel lines. The math is a little more complicated, but it's the same concept.
I tried drawing along with you like my parents and grandparents would Bob Ross. I just felt an overwhelming sense of calm, I just felt so relaxed, so free of stress. I did it in pencil, but I didn't end up erasing a single thing because of how calm I was. Thanks for making me not die of stress before exams, Peter!
Love watching you draw Peter and your voice is amazing but what's even more amazing is that I am actually watching this on a THURSDAY 😊 (Thursday 15th February to be exact)! Thank you for sharing your wonderful art and voice with us xx ☺️
I think it would be cool if we all just started commenting what we see in his drawings. In this one, I saw a man yelling and also looking back towards his ear. It was almost like a drawing you might see Ina children's book with abstract-ish type illustrations in it. I really enjoy it a lot and that's what I love about Peter's art, that we all might see something completely different in each of his pieces and maybe we don't see anything at all, that's so gorgeous to me! So let's start sharing what we see
so many childhood memories with those scratch boards! but you do wayy cooler stuff that I ever did. Also, with the impending storms headed my way, this is quite relaxing
I dare say that you're like the new Bob Ross. So chill and relaxing to watch. I like that you use various products too. It's great. A very zen experience.
I love how Peter does the same things that I do when he's drawing sometimes. Like when you move your art utensil as if you're drawing something, but don't put anything down, to test it and/or see if it feels right. He's such a great artist! I've never seen him draw the kind of drawings I draw, and I don't draw the way he usually does, but I feel very connected to his art despite that (:
It's weird but I often have ASMR experiences with Pete's videos. His voice is so mellow and soothing, not to mention the gentle scratching of the waxy boards is very pleasant :)
I was in the middle of self harming when I started this video, but the more I watched and listened. The more calm I became and I stopped. Your videos have a new meaning for me now. Thank you @Peter Draws.
these scratch boards bring me back to childhood. I enjoy these very much. your humor is not only pleasing to the ears to hear, but moderately entertaining. I'm delighted. subbed. well, I subbed a while ago. first time commenting though. you're doing Gods work!
When you said "this is almost as satisfying as power washing" my heart skipped a beat.....I totally agree with you that "there's just something about power washing" :) I'm the only person I know that enjoys it. I finally found someone on this earth other than me that finds this kinda stuff so satisfying!
I watched this in full screen and soon the lines began to imprint on my vision. It then looked to me like your hand was passing under the line. I suppose this effect is much like the illusion where you look at a face in negative for 30 seconds and then look at a white paper and you can see the negative in color. Very strange effect. The first time it happened I was like, " what the......?" and I had to roll it back so I could see it again. P.S. If the stylus you have is wood, you could file it to a sharper point. If you'd like multiple points for line variation, go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy some orangewood sticks and file them to any degree of thickness you desire. Food for thought. Cheers!
I'm studying for my finals in two days while taking care of my sick cat and I've spent the last few days crying nonstop. These videos are like therapy.
You should try drawing on top of these scratch cards with ink or gel pens and then once your done scratch around it for a negative space effect. That probably doesn't make sense but whatever
woah. Peter.. how'd you know I was watching this on a Thursday, 2 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE. and Thanks. I'm doing great! Your art got me back into doodling and makes me wanna practice again
I love watching these videos. These are the type of drawings I love to do, but my style is a lot more geometric and jagged. Its good to be able to see someone else's process, I'm learning how to expand into other dimensions of drawing.
This is really satisfying to watch, thank you. Your art seems to have a very specific aesthetic but you still manage to spice it up with the different supplies you use. Nice!
Hey.. I remember.. I don't know if it's in this video.. but I remember you said in a video that you wanted the power to draw with your fingers well I have an idea.. what if you took acrylic nails or fake nails and put pencil led under it and glued it on and then put it on your finger and boom you can draw with your fingers.!! I don't know if you'll be able to see this comment but I think it would be a cool idea..
your precise love for lines is beautiful. like. im not usually one for abstract line are im more into realism and paintings. yet- im obsessed with your work and videos. you rock dude!
I just love watching your videos. You inspire me as an artist to just...take my time and enjoy my art. I swear I can watch your videos and just relax for a little while. Your vids help relieve my near constant stress, even if only for a short time. Keep up the awesome work!
I find you to be extremely insightful . You give the world an insider view to what it’s like to be an artist while Also giving other artists some insight into their own work, new materials, style, technique, perspective, theory- while also debating whether you ate marshmallow or rotten mayo. Love it. Keep makin videos

@Ernest Solomon Definitely, have been watching on Flixzone} for since december myself :)
i disagree; the best advice in this video is to always check your mayonnaise.
How did you know I would be watching it on a Thursday?? Thanks for wishing us Thursday watchers a good day??
I really love your outlook on art, Peter. You're just very inspiring. I’m watching this on a Thursday and I’m doing well. Thank you Peter.
“Five seconds, thirty seconds, a year...”
well that escalares quickly
Whispersong Of Windclan escalated*
thirty seconds after the video, you write your comment. A year later I reply.
Peter, you should scratch the whole thing off on one, and then draw on it with a Sharpie and you'll have that nice background underneath

Maria Halina Pantow I do, but would it not feel nice to have the gratifying satisfaction of scratching all off yourself?
Maria Halina Pantow He even said in the video he would like to scratch it all off of one
at the beggining of this video actually lmao

After a stressful day I love being able to hear you with nothing but positive and calm vibes with good content 😌 💕 thank you

thanks I have been looking for that

loving the jumping extremities in this video

when you spoke about making mistakes that no one else notices, I thought of this Bob Ross quote: "There are no mistakes, only happy accidents."
Love watching you draw Peter and your voice is amazing but what's even more amazing is that I am actually watching this on a THURSDAY 😊 (Thursday 15th February to be exact)! Thank you for sharing your wonderful art and voice with us xx ☺️
Wow that’s a little crazy... I am watching for the first time on January 4th.. Thursday.
Kolby Cook omg me tooooooo!!!!!
I watched this yesterday and commented it on the top of the comment section

We havent had rain in a month :'( I miss rain
Watching and hearing Peter draw anything is always...”satisfying”. 😎
I love Peter's vocabulary for the scratched off dust; "nuggets" "crusties"
I dare say that you're like the new Bob Ross. So chill and relaxing to watch. I like that you use various products too. It's great. A very zen experience.

Your drawing and your fun ramblings ease my anxieties. Thanks.
I could watch and listen all day
Listening to Peter with chill music in the background is so magical.
"It's okay to take a break for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, a year." OH BOY DO I TAKE THAT TO HEART TOO OFTEN.
It's weird but I often have ASMR experiences with Pete's videos. His voice is so mellow and soothing, not to mention the gentle scratching of the waxy boards is very pleasant :)
I love this one Peter ! I think I'm going to have to find some of the glitter ones.
I am watching this on a Thursday! Thank you, I hope you're having a good day too Peter!
I'm watching on a Thursday, thanksgiving to be exact. Making many foods
“This space intentionally left blank” 😂😂

I love watching him before bed, not because it’s boreing, but because it’s satisfying and his tid bits of wisdom or rants are enjoyable

I introduced my mother to your videos and she liked you so much, she bought all your books.
The lines are still parallel as long as their slopes are the same for the duration of the graph/function/infinity, whether they are curved or not
I'm studying for my finals in two days while taking care of my sick cat and I've spent the last few days crying nonstop. These videos are like therapy.
My timezone is earlier than western timezone so I'm watching this on a wednesday
Super cool how you turned the negative space into the positive space by filling in the background, completely fundamemtally changed the piece!
I watched it on a Saturday.
Same here on weekdays too busy only weekends do I have time to for creative projects
Thee Beardo 😱 me too.

In these you don't have to worry about smudging, which is nice.
It's just so satisfying to watch to draw all these amazing things!!!! Thank you so much for... well, for being amazing like you are
This is really satisfying to watch, thank you. Your art seems to have a very specific aesthetic but you still manage to spice it up with the different supplies you use. Nice!
