peter, can you try drawing and doing the opposite of whatever your instincts are? like instead of making smooth lines, draw them jagged, instead of drawing lines in one direction, draw them in the other, if you feel like closing off a shape, leave it open, etc. basically resist your instincts. it would be really cool to see how it turns out, but it would be really challenging to do! and then talk us through the thought process, of course :)
You are the spiritual successor to Bob Ross, just becuz you have this laid back, encouraging nature about you. No such thing as a mistake, only happy accidents.
Polaris 401 my high school art teacher was the same way. I was actually interested in art appreciation, but sometimes I still fell asleep. :) must be from the art constantly calming down the artist. almost like meditation. that's what it is for me anyway.
Peter, I mean this comment with the utmost sincerity. I've just drawn and doodled while watching your videos for over 5 hours, and you are the funniest guy I've ever seen. Was having a bad week, but man, you just don't fail to crack me up every single time. You are just so freaking hilarious I can't even comprehend the sort of nuance you have when speaking. Kudos to your drawing and humor! -a fan
I like these real-time drawing videos because it makes me feel like I'm not drawing alone. I really like the company that it brings and it keeps me going.
The combination of doodling, your melodic voice and delightful mental meandering is a real treat. Makes my brain hum with delight. New favorite youtuber
I love your thought process while you are drawing. I could not, would not draw for many years because I lacked the self confidence and the training. I enjoy drawing and painting now but I always have the same kind of dialogue with myself that you do. I also think It's OK, a lot. I love your art! and It is comforting to know that you also think this way.
Very entertaining! I often play this videos when I'm drawing or working on anything. It makes me feel like there is more people working in the room, seems like a productive environment to my ears.
Just subscribed and hey from Canada.... first off I want to say Peter you have to be the most soft spoken, calm , and positive artist I've ever watched , in looking for ideas to draw on deer sculls then il will carve them out , your style is awesome keep it up and I just love watching you brother
I am always taken aback when watching your older videos and I enjoy them quite a bit! I wonder how someone creates a backlog of videos that continue to be so on topic! I just had to leave a comment and say Thanks Peter. So Thanks!
I Peter, I love your art. I notice that your hand is very steady. And such talent! Every one of your drawings is like a vacation for the soul. We learn something from everyone.
You are awesome! I listened to your ramblings, which I enjoyed, while working an a series of drawings for a music video I am animating for my band. Your work is very inspiring, especially in the way of inspiring me to work on techniques I pushed aside because they were difficult for me before... Yay hatching and stippling. Many high fives to you.
Peter, please make more of these realtime doodles... it's just the most relaxing thing getting to wind down and take it slow with your artwork and your commentary. It's the best.
Wow!! Amazing portrait of you!! Bless you!(you sneezed). I had fun doodling on a piece of scrap paper, with a regular pen, as I watched/listened to your video. 😎 I love your drawing.
Peter is the (present, historical, and future of) Peter Draws of youtube! Very unique, and interesting to watch. Anyways, I actually ran into someone who also watches your videos, and I was so happy to be able to talk about some of your work in person. It was nice.
Please do more!!! Or live stream these!! They are interesting to watch even if you are multitasking and working on something else while you watch it. It is just nice to her someone else talk while I am doing schoolwork or drawing. Ps your drawings are always cool, and I am very jealous of your art skills. I hope you do more, a series would be cool!
Thank you for sharing your art and thoughts online! I usually want to create something "perfect" with a solid idea or concept beforehand. It's so refreshing to watch you just creating something with no pressure, with no plan at all. I've tried drawing like this a few weeks ago and it's sooooo much fun!! Drawing was fun before but now it's also relaxing, it even has some kind of meditative feeling to it. And I really like these non perfect drawings of mine. So thank you very much for reminding me of how much fun drawing can be. -By the way: you're so damn cute!
I'm glad I found this channel. I've always kinda half-heartedly scribbled out drawings sorta like this. It's nice to see somebody going at it full-force and making it look awesome. Inspires me to do my own.
I've never been some one to draw, I've always preferred building things. A very wide variety; like models, or furniture, or jewelry. I even work in a factory building truck bodies, but I think you've inspired me to go pick up some cheap art supplies and start doodling. I really think I'd enjoy this sort of formless sketching after watching you do it, as opposed to me trying to learn in the past (organic forms, like eyes or hands) and getting frustrated.
Peter, your videos almost always make me crack up at one point or another. You're a very interesting and funny artist. I love how easily you go with the flow when making art and so much so that you don't even know why you draw the things you do. Art has become a part of your subconscious, and I think that's awesome!
It's like a mix of graffiti and Lovecraft. I've actually pulled a lot of inspiration from your art. I would never copy it. But, the style of just letting your pen do the "talking", I found out it's just amazing and I get great results. I only start making it look like something after I've been drawing and it seems to have a likeness to something. So then I'll finish it to that likeness. I love it. I've actually enjoyed drawing more because of it too. No more drawer's block. Thanks.
which part of drawing drawing do like more: the beginning, middle, the end, or the beginning-middle, middle-end, or the beginning-middle-beginning, the beginning-middle-middle, the middle-end-middle, or the middle-end-end
The middle-middle. That's when you really get into the zone and completely forget that a world exists outside of your pencil and paper and your drawing and you're totally at peace in your own little world. That's the best part.
I really like these videos where you draw live. The main reason I do like these live drawings is I give up too easy if I don't results right away. Watching you go through the process and seeing how you take your time has allowed me to sloooowwwww down. This is making my drawing experience much more enjoyable. I'm not sure if it was this video or another live drawing session where you mentioned that you don't need to go fast. It's art - that of all things should be relaxing and take as much time as you like. Seeing you go slow has really helped my approach.
I decided to draw while watching/listening to this. I was drawing my usual weeb stuff when I suddenly began doodling. Thanks for making me remember how fun doodling is :') I remember how the veeery first time I actually doodled was on a sticky note, very sleep deprived when my friends were over.
Peter, if you expect the unexpected. doesnt that make the unexpected expected meaning that if you expect the unexpected, nothing will be ever unexpected to you since you're always expecting the unexpected?
I always pondered this... Like the saying, "the only rule is that there are no rules"... Like isn't that defeating the purpose? Like if the only rule is that there are no rules then aren't you breaking the rule by adding that rule? And then if you take that rule away, you are no longer breaking it, but it isn't there anymore so it doesn't matter... So confusing tbh
I doodled while listening to his voice its so sooothing you can relax and let your mind do the work the fun of doodling is just you can imagine everythi g you want and how you form it to be a big doodle and this is a good practice for free hand drawing
After years of watching you, I still always come back to your older stuff for inspiration. I definitely feel you on the "anatomically correct" part. I'm terrible at drawing anatomy, people, figures in general. It all comes out like "Yeah that looks like a mouth...but not" sort of stuff.
Hi Peter. I do similar types of “formal” doodling. The dark areas are like the silence between words or musical notes. They make the lines exist and mean something to the viewer. An interesting little fact is that when I put a black frame and white mat on them, they all sell. I’ve priced my formal doodles at $250, and they all sell. Very gratifying. Yours are more organic and free form than mine. I like that organic feeling I get from your drawings.

It’s the fact that you don’t try to be like him. You exude the same energy as him in the sense that you just have this positive uplifting view on life and art. Just make the best of what you have / what you’ve made and enjoy the process. I wouldn’t say you are the next Bob Ross as much as I’d say you are just a continuation of his philosophy.
Watched a couple videos n then looked up a long one to fall asleep too. No disrespect, can't wait to do studies tomorrow with you. So glad I found your channel. I've always drew the way you do, like origin. Thx
You have a very calming, soothing voice.... I was cooking my dinner while listening to this. Next time I'd like to doodle with you... especially since I don't doodle often. 😀👏👏
II love this! I was inspired by a friend a long time ago to start doodling and it's something ive been addicted to ever since! I like the way you talk about not having any idea about how your drawing will turn out. I started a doodle yesterday without thinking about what it was going to be. After just adding some more on, it has turned out looking a bit like some form of mystical creature, I'd maybe say a dragon. :)
😍👍 I started doing art similar to this and I thought I discovered something new I thought wow, and I cannot believe someone else has already discovered this and is doing it so much better, reminds me of the telephone discovery, well done .
I think the Bob Ross comparison stems from the fact that a) you make your art look so easy and b) your voice is very soothing. Not a bad thing, in my humble opinion, but - you're not Bob, you're Peter, and I think it's important for you to be you and not someone else. I love this video, by the way. My doodling has hit an all time low at the moment. Maybe watching this and more of your videos will re-light my doodling mojo. I can but hope......😊😊😊

Hey there it's Winamuck. Thank you thank you for talking about the drawing process. It helps those of us who are still working thru the process. I just wish I could figure out how you are so capable at drawing such smooth lines and curves. Guess I just have to practice more.

its called style
Honestly i cant draw smooth lines i try but my style is allways jagged. Even when it comes to straight lines.
Burnt Chicken Nugget smooth lines come from confidence and no hesitation! If you overthink it you will always get wobbly lines
If you want to draw don’t

i listen to your videos to fall asleep at night. Your voice for some reason is soothing and relaxing to me.
Polaris 401 I was feeling so tired, began to watch this video, and as you say, his voice is soothing and relaxing to me also ☺️ fell asleep instantly
