      Hello Kosmas,
Thank you for visiting LUCID TUTORIALS.
Regarding the video tutorial, you can’t use the password-protected USB drive created on a Mac using Disk Utility on a Windows PC. If you want to use an external USB drive on both a Mac and Windows machine, then you need to select the ‘ExFAT’ format from the Format pop-up menu in the Disk Utility application on your Mac. This way, you can use your drive with Mac and Windows, but it won’t be password protected. If you want to protect it with a password, you need to look for a third-party encryption tool that supports cross-platform encryption to encrypt the contents of the USB flash drive.

External hard disk not detecting in Mac

    • @lucid-tutorials
      @lucid-tutorials  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Deepak,
If your external drive isn't detected on your Mac, try the following troubleshooting steps:
      1. Check Connections:
      • Ensure the drive is properly connected to the Mac. Try using a different USB port or cable.
      • If it's a powered drive, make sure it's plugged into a power source.
      2. Restart Your Mac:
      • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve detection issues.
      3. Check Disk Utility:
      • Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility).
      • Look for your external drive in the sidebar. If it appears but is grayed out, select it and click "Mount."
      • If it doesn't appear, proceed to the next steps.
      4. Check System Information:
      • Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac > System Report.
      • Under the USB section, check if the drive is listed. If it is, but not in Disk Utility, there may be a filesystem issue.
      5. Reset NVRAM/PRAM:
      • Shut down your Mac, turn it on, and immediately press and hold Option + Command + P + R for about 20 seconds. This can sometimes resolve hardware detection issues. For more info, visit the following link: support.apple.com/en-us/102539
      6. Try on Another Computer:
      • Connect the drive to a different computer to determine if the issue lies with the drive itself or your Mac.
      7. Format the Drive (if it's detected but not usable):
      • Warning: This will erase all data on the drive.
      • If you can see the drive in Disk Utility, select it and choose "Erase." Depending on your needs, format it as ExFAT or Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
      8. Check for Updates:
      • Make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, compatibility issues can arise from outdated software.
      9. Check for Third-Party Software:
      • If you have any disk management or antivirus software installed, temporarily disable or uninstall it to see if it’s interfering with the drive detection.
      10. Look for Hardware Issues:
      • If none of the above works, the external drive may be failing. Consider contacting the manufacturer for support or data recovery options.
