I use Veracrypt's portable version and create an encrypted container which shows up as a normal file on the USB drive still allows one to use the drive as normal.
Thanks, Just bought two SANDISK drives and have already formatted them because I didn’t know about this. Going forward I will now take advantage of this free software, I always buy SANDISK drives.
Have to admit that the first thing I do with USB drives is to format them to get rid of the crap they come with. I really don't keep anything I need to encrypt on my computers or USB sticks. I am far more interested in ensuring I have back ups for my photos and I use Google Photos, Amazon and a hard drive. It is good to see how to use the software on them even if I won't use it.
I worked in a retail store before and alot of customers come back and they lose their passsword , there is a other way to remove the password without formating the stick and loosig all the files ?
Hello. Great vid. In the old days there were some USB drives that had a small slider to make them read only which was great to prevent virus infection. Do you know (or anyone on the comments) of any that still has that feature (either by hardware like the slider, or by software) ?
Your title of the video makes it seem like you NEED to do this with ALL your USB Flash Drives. I can safely predict that a lot of unknowing people out there are going to do this and encrypt these drives and then LOSE OR FORGET THE PASSWORD and NEVER have access to their files again. Encrypting should ONLY be done in the RARE circumstance when you have private data that you would not want someone to gain access to. Backups of Aunt Becky's birthday party pics don't need to be on an encrypted drive that we will eventually forget the password to.
If I have important stuff to encrypted I don't use big company's software that have 100% backdoors, I use KeePass or similar software and I don't like hole encrypted drives, they make only problems if you have to recover some stuff later.
I've got several sandisk usb that's write protected because of using it in an ZGEMMA freesat tv box. I can't remove the write protection I've tried lots of different ways and got nowhere. Any help removing the write protection would be greatly appreciated!
Very good for encryption but when SanDisk USB are write protected you can throw it into a trash can with confidence...NO METHOD TO FIX THEM...PD: the write protected odds are highly on this brand.. thanks for the video 👍
I always advise my clients and customer not to do that. Simply because i don't trust them enough with a password and eventually come back to me at a later time asking if i could crack it open. I always tell them not to store any important data on a flash drive and certainly not to make it as a long term data storage.
@Britec09 if one of the files belonging to vault become corrupted, but the encrypted file is ok, is it possible to copy the encrypted file to another sandisk usb, put it in there and can you recover your files that way?
How come Win 11 Pro keeps giving "Access denied to this drive Error" and unmounts my USB flash drive when I try to intall Rufus and Win 11 ISO? Then I have to go to Computer Management/ Disk Management/ Fomat and give it a drive letter so that Win 11 can see it again in This PC. It's so annoying. Don't use software to encrypt, it is proprietary and has known bypasses. Use GPG and encrypt with asymmetrical keys. It's also free and you can use on any drive and folder
7:28 fail. it take so less as encrypting is. if you bruteforce with world list and correct password is first then is fast as how long it take encrypt. and it depend how long password is how many special chars and numbers use so cant guess. so only way crack is bruteforce by 0- ZZZZZZZZZZZZ. you get a point. if password is 123456. its same as dont encrypt xD

No I do not use that software. Anything that is important I don't put on a flash drive.
Nope, nothing on them that needs to be secured. Most times they encrypt themselves because they quit working.
I use the SanDisk vault on every external drive I have; from my SSD to the flashdrives, an excellent program.

write protection normally oocurs on flash devices when the disk fails. It goes into read only mode to allow you to get your data off the drive.
@Greg M seems very strange how a few have done this. Its not just one. Thanks anyway
Will this work on a SanDisk MicroSD card?
I usually use WinRAR with encryption. Might as well, I'm the other person who paid for a copy.
Nice. Thank you.
Hey, I have already put data on several flash drives. Can I go back and encrypt them afterwards ?
I use Veracrypt on my drives because that's a known good.

if you want just windows access, just use the built in bitlocker on the usb
The software is terrible as it kills your computer storage. That compression didn't do anything for the vault folder but take a few megs away.
True. Given everything wrong with PrivateAccess, I would agree.
android and ios are able to unlock it when encrypted?
