Lara was classified as a EuroPop Artist. Her Italian is perfect & at this time she was fluent in 4 languages & sang in 7. Most recently she is fluent in 7 languages & sings in 9 languages. A World Artist by every measure. Growing up I had a cousin who spoke fluently in 5 languages, and a friend who played piano by ear. She could hear a song once & play that song immediately & 10 years later without error. Now she did not read sheet music at all. How? My friend described it as a God given gift.
Quite simply no one can express the emotion in a song the way Lara can. The fact that she also has an exceptional voice is just a bonus. But a very welcome bonus.
I'm glad you did a reaction video, Lara is probably the most underrated best vocalist of all time, she's at the level of icons like Whitney, Mariah, Celine or Adele. She's not a pop star and the fact that she's a francophone probably hindered her chances of being known, but OMG, she's INCREDIBLE!
Oh yay! I didn't think you'd do Lara again so soon 😁. This whole concert (from 1999, btw) is a master class! You're Not From Here is breathtaking. Her breath control is phenomenal and she wrote it. Broken Vow is also tremendous, or you could do Caruso for Italian since you've done English and French. It's absolutely gorgeous. Funny you mentioned ice skaters. I discovered her in early 2018 because Canadian skaters Weaver and Poje (who call her "their heart") skated to this song at the Olympics. She immediately became my favorite singer of all time. And she's a wonderful human being who risked her early career in the late '90's writing a song called La Différence to support marriage equality. Another option to react to would be the songs Dimash has covered from her Mademoiselle Zhivago concert, which is the most amazing concert I've ever seen. Vocalise (everyone mistakenly calls it Ascolta La Voce) and Mademoiselle Hyde are phenomenal! I'm just so happy more Americans are discovering her through reaction videos! And yes, she is still writing and performing! She is about to start a tour (and will be in the US!) for her new album.
Thank you. Reaction videos have really revived my soul. Pop music in the US is mostly a wasteland so it gives me hope and heart to have discovered so many passionate and gifted singers in other parts of the world. :)
@@VocalSplendorStudios Same here. "Wasteland" perfectly describes it. Sometimes I think maybe I just have a case of the older person fuddy duddies, and then think, no, it's truly garbage.
I'm not gonna lie. I discovered her through Tara Simon. Lara is my favorite singer of all time. Her vocals are gorgeous and she has nearly perfect technique. Also, perfect volume control for her voice. And her gorgeous way of being able to sing all the way to A5 without strain is absolutely breathtaking.
Hi @Elisabeth White I'm so glad you like Lara as much as I do. However, I had to specify that she did not write this song. "Je suis malade" is written by Serge Lama to his wife. Serge and Lara are very good friends and have sung this song together several times in the past.
Lara Fabian and DImash are my favourable female and male singers on earth. Vocally and regarding song interpretation in their own class. And stil worldwide kinda unknown.
Exactly. Dimash has learned song interpretation and a lot about singing techniques from great Lara. however no body in the word conveys song and felling and emotion like Lara.
it amazes me how it is even possible not to have heard Lara Fabian before and i see many comments that many voice teachers got to know her through Dimash ! Her voice is magical and her performance in every single song is unique. I am from Greece and around Europe Lara is well known for decades so it kind of strikes me as odd but i am glad that you finally discovered her :) Another amazing perfomance from Lara Fabian is" Lara Fabian - Comme Ils Disent" which is a very unique song cause of the story that it tells and of course that woman is magnificent for one more time! Thanks for taking the time to do the reaction videos and really hope to see more reaction videos for LARA FABIAN cause i m a huge fan of her :)
I admit I didn't know about her too and I'm from Europe. None of my friends or family knew of her. I didn't know about Dimash either. Learnt about him through reaction videos (Sam Johnson's to be specific) and through him Lara Fabian. Now I'm absolutely in love with their voice.
It always takes time for her to come down after this song. Her performances of this song when she was younger were more teatrical. Today, when she is more mature they have some kind of deep profound sadness and new feeling to it you can feel you heart squeeze hard in your chest. I always feel like someone close to me is suffering its crazy. And she often really cry at the end. I recommend her cover of "Caruso" next to complete triology. She is THE lady of that song. And yes, her belts are amazing. She has one of the most open throated aproach in pop music. Her resonance is crazy and thats why we call her The Ring(cause its ringing in your ears and brain for days😂). I avoid subing to much reaction channels but you impresed me when you talked about her like you know her all your life and you are sincere. So new sub👍
GOOD MUSIC I cannot help but think there is something in Lara’s upper body cavity which allows for such powerful sound and control. Was she born with larger vocal cords and lungs than most humans?? And her pitch it so precisely accurate it’s beyond comprehension. Her genius with language is another phenomenon. Why isn’t the entire world taken by her brilliance?? I’ll never understand.
@@susanwenner8738 I dont understand also why she is not more known. Never read anything about lungs or cords. But my brother always says that she doesnt have internal organs and that all that empty space/hollowness is creating that outworldy resonance sound- like guitar lol
I think this was one of her best performances ever. I would have been crying if I were in the audience. I'll bet I have watched this 100 times over the years.
She is also a great song writer and has written many awesome songs for other people. She wrote Broken Vow and her version is lovely. Caruso is an emotional performance too. She is not French, she is from Belgium and has dual citizenship with Canada and is a big international star. You should do something more current, her voice got even better with age. She speaks other languages too and sings well in Italian. She is also a coach on The Voice in Quebec.
I'm so glad you were so much into it! Her singing technique is amazing, but her ability to pull you in with her emotions makes her extraordinary. She's much more known in Europe and Russia, than in US.
We can see the emotion going trough your face , it’s amazing how you responded to Lara , I wish I could give emotion to people like that ! You and Lara are 2 beautiful lady !
Love your reactions!! I definitely think the third part of the trinity within Lara's rendition is Lucio Dalla's Caruso. Not only is it an AMAZING song to listen to but also shows Lara's feel in Italian, another language she's quite fluent in.
Certainly would recommend her duet with the late Belgian singer Maurane, called "Tu es mon Autre" ("your are my other self"). It makes my skin shivers every time. It's rare to find duets at such level of quality and emotion.
Oh this beautiful singer is amazing. Omg she has a crystal clear impeccable voice. So much emotion. She speaks to us and then this beautiful sound surfaces. What an incredible talent. I believe she pushes all the big ones off the shelf.
Please react to “ broken vow” by Lara. Dhe wrote the song and how hauntingly beautiful it is. Such a timeless song. She made me choked up and bawl my eyes out. So beautiful!

Hello! I am an absolute fan of Lara Fabian since I was a child. You absolutly need to hear her songs " perdere l amore" in italian, and "Alléluia" in french. Actualy all her cd "Pure" is amazing. Have a nice day! Claire
Yes, Boken Vow (which she co-wrote), Caruso and Adagio are other great examples of Lara Fabian's talent! But I was most captured by her interpretation of Massimo Ranieri's song 'Perdere L'Amore'. After having heard it several times I feel like you can hear exactly what her emotional facial expression is just by hearing her voice ... incredible! And you'll hear a lot more of her powerful voice!
Btw, malade means so much more than sick. It's heartsick, out of your mind with grief. We don't really have a word in English that quite captures the meaning. Thank you for a wonderful analysis, I loved what you said! This is how you make a cover song your own!

Lara had her 50th birthday yesterday. I heared her singing with the same intensity over 30 years ago. She has dozens of songs worth reacting to. But Broken Vow springstof to mind.
What's unbelievable is that there are multiple live performances of this song and you could listen to all of them and Lara does not interpret the song the same twice, each one is unique.
I'm actually from Belgium where Lara was born and live until she left for Canada. She is a wonderful human beeing, very sensitive, always full of emotions. She is one of the best female voice I know but she is not the only one, Belgium has been the craddle of a lot of wonderful singers. Lara was best friend of Maurane, who unfortunately past away last year. They made one of the best female duo ever... Je suis ton autre... Lara was very affected by this lost... take a look at it because it's pretty wonderful. Thanks for your reaction. th-cam.com/video/3IcRR4bjTDQ/w-d-xo.html
I second that sentiment "Tu es mon autre" (you're my other) is one of the most beautifull song in French written for two women to sing in a duet . I'd recommend "Humana" too
Try to find the author's version of this song. He is Serge Lama and he was a very intense character too when singing his song. But when Lara meats Lama, perfection is so close to us! Another LAra Fabian song for you: "je t'aime" or "Adagio"
That staying in the emotion after the song tells she really went to it. When you're honestly in an emotion, you don't turned in a fraction of a second. It's like a golf swing, you have to follow the hit through, make the movement all the way, or the hit won't be true in the pinnacle. I'm not a golf player, but that rule to make a good swing is such a good example for many other things in life, it has stuck into my memory.
In November Lara and Dimash are doing a duet... I have no idea if it's a new song or what or how they'll approach it as even though they have some similarities they are such different singers . I have no doubt they can adapt so easy to each other knowing their work when they have done duets. I'm so curious and excited of how they'll approach it, from which song to how they'll approach the performance. So excited!
You can react to any live performance of Lara and you will get something to say every single time. Whether it’s from her early years back in the 90s or her most recent performances, whether it’s for a tv show, a large arena or an intimate setting. Lara is an interpreter more than a singer. She becomes the song, whether she’s singing her creations or covering other artists. No matter if she’s singing live songs, sad songs or lively songs. Try “Comme ils disent” from her En toute intimité concert. It’s a song about a male gay stripper artist. But Lara is so good that you forget the song was originally sung and written for a male to sing. Her stage presence is and has always been what is defining Lara Fabian. People criticized her terribly for that, but they just didn’t understand her approach to performing.
I hear stories about how she was criticized for her emotional performances and I have a hard time understanding that. The whole point of music and live performing is to make you feel something, and she does it better than anyone.
Elizabeth White Agreed. But she was the focus point of, let’s call it, a Parisian intelligentsia. One person probably didn’t like her way of performing (which by Lara’s own words was obnoxious at that time) and they all had to follow that trend of shooting her down.
@@Platycqb Oh wow, that's harsh. But the entertainment world can be cruel. Artists have to work through all their trials and errors in public while people tear them down. And it seems like a certain crowd never got over it to enjoy the performer she became. I'm so glad she didn't let it make her quit and just went to find her audience elsewhere. To my mind it makes her a very wise person and I just respect her more.
Elizabeth White Lara had her struggles. I won’t be categorical but I think she even considered suicide at some point. Maybe not only for that continuous criticism. But she struggled for some time around that period. Nowadays she found her true self and apparently the right balance in her life and mind.
@@Platycqb Hey, do you know if she got backlash for La Différence and becoming a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ community? I was so personally and deeply touched when I discovered that part of her history. Especially because that was a risky move in the '90's.
"Comme ils disent". The lyrics are very complex. Would be interesting what someone who doesn't speak French thinks. And it's a great song and a great performance!
There’s a « je t’aime » version where the entire audience sings for her which is very emotional but you should listen « Perdere l’amore » :) so happy that you love her !! Btw the one you just comment where from late 90´s :)) she also was a judge/coach on the Canadian version of the voice :)
Wouaouh thanks, you are as Magical as Lara's voice as wonderfull. If you like Brodway show, could you react to "Extrait de yentl " please. Take care of you..... Stay safe. Ciao from Belgium
I've never heard someone say that she has a generic voice. i'm a native french speaker (i know she's belgian/canadian^^) and to me if I hear her sing on the radio (which i've heard since i was a tenn in france), i know it's her right away; even if i haven't been following her like a fan (so it's not like i know her voice by heart). she has a very specific timber in her voice and a specific way of putting her accentuations...etc. i don't think i've heard someone else with that singing voice. and again, i'm not saying that as a die hard fan trying to defend her or something.
Stunning performance, a breath-taking & mind blowing emotional masterpiece. Perfect. But, no single human being is worth such a heartbreak, such pain; such misery ..... or "hopelessness" or despair, such self-loathing, self-destruction, such insanity, such lethal depression....God...that triggers oür deeper existential fears ....like horror movies do....... , not even in a song like this one; even though it is beauriful & yet disturbing to experience, see or hear. Let go of attachment, folks. Thats the secret of serenity, peace of mind....no matter what happens. We can be perfectly ok without attachment, which is one of the key sources of our misery, pain.... We dont need partners to be "happy". We cant be that without, on our own and then if someone comes along with the same mind set, who knows??? If it doesnt work, so be it.... Let go of the ego too, while you are at it. Ach...i abhor the classical French maso or sado romanticism. We're not gonna let it in through the window, right?
Every reactor or vocal coach that i watched said the same freaking thing oh my God... The way she transformed into the song and that she really immersed herself into the song.... She lost herself for a moment in the song... I just subbed...
You should react to You're Not From Here from this same concert. Also Broken Vow, JéTaimé. Lara Fabian is a phenomenal singer who is so underrated. One more song is Tomorrow Is A Lie, the same song that Dimash covered . She also did Mademoiselle Hyde. Great reaction ❤️ I cry every time I watch this video.

what a perfomance, i have nefer felt this way about the perfomance only. it was incredible. she sang the song again in duet on the voice france in 2018. would be great to have a comparison of both perfomances 20 years apart. even though my favorite perfomance is the old one. what is at the base of any art is to share an emotion, and she did that perfectly. (i was trying to find a better way to express this last phrase, but i am actually out of word)
Thank you, super professional reaction. I ask you to make a reaction to a young singer from Russia Diana Ankudinova. She is 16 years old and she is a very talented girl with unique vocals and unique technique. I would like to hear your opinion as a professional about this singer. “Wicked game” - Diana Ankudinova, 15 years old
"Être malade" means two things: to be sick or to be crazy. At the end of the song, when she says : "C'est ça ! Je suis malade". She looks like a crazy woman, so it's the second meaning. It's a tremendous performance.
I don't know if you know this already, but Barbara was a HUGE influence on her. I believe it started when she saw Yentl, sitting in a dark theater. She talks about it in one of her concerts, Un Regard 9 I believe.
@@dianeframe7251 She does an amazing cover of Papa Can You Hear Me/Piece of Sky in two of her concerts. It's an incredible ride! If you're interested here's one of them th-cam.com/video/0_Bqg9pGPek/w-d-xo.html
Many posters suggest "Broken Vow", "Adagio", "Caruso", "Je t'aime", "Tu es mon autre" etc, but you should absolutely listen to her other hit "Pas sans toi". It's a less popular song compared to all those I mentioned before but the depth of emotion she conveyed there is totally overwhelming just to hear it musically. I wouldn't know what to say if, on top of that, you understand the lyrics.

Lara had her 50th birthday yesterday. I heared her singing with the same intensity over 30 years ago. She has dozens of songs worth reacting to. But Broken Vow springstof to mind.
I just felt the need to react to Lara this week. I'm just thrilled that this upload coincided with her birthday! ❤️
What's unbelievable is that there are multiple live performances of this song and you could listen to all of them and Lara does not interpret the song the same twice, each one is unique.
First time hear her sinig is Adagio and i fall in love is my favorite song shes very emotional and this son WOW...
HI there!! Great reaction!! Please, now react to 'you are not from here' from Lara fabian(from Lara with love)
Saludos desde Chile.
Emotionen und Seele in Laras Stimme. So wunderbar. Das können nur wenige Sängerinnen.
Yes, it is amazing 😀😊
I'm actually from Belgium where Lara was born and live until she left for Canada. She is a wonderful human beeing, very sensitive, always full of emotions. She is one of the best female voice I know but she is not the only one, Belgium has been the craddle of a lot of wonderful singers. Lara was best friend of Maurane, who unfortunately past away last year. They made one of the best female duo ever... Je suis ton autre... Lara was very affected by this lost... take a look at it because it's pretty wonderful. Thanks for your reaction.

I second that sentiment "Tu es mon autre" (you're my other) is one of the most beautifull song in French written for two women to sing in a duet .
I'd recommend "Humana" too
Amazing bea-ti-ful song, even more after we lost the great talent of Maurane...❤
Sensacional apresentação, que voz , sensacional, cantora espetacular
Just speechless, thank you Valerie. you're definitely still the one :-)
So excited!
Has that been confirmed? I've heard a lot of speculation but nothing for sure.
@Fedor Ivanov Awesome! Thank you!
How exiting!
Even if you have a great experience, I saw you were moved - and it was wonderful!
First time hearing Lara, l just also remembering Celine voice, good show amazing 💞
❤️ phenomenal amazing ... this performance is dramatic deep emotional 💕💕💕💕
Highly recommend Perdere L'amore. It's one of my favorites.
"Comme ils disent". The lyrics are very complex. Would be interesting what someone who doesn't speak French thinks. And it's a great song and a great performance!
Thaaank you for reacting to je suis malade. U should definitely react to " BROKEN VOW ". It's a powerful and an emotional performance. Pleaaaaase
I discovered her from Rhythmic gymnastics (Daria Dmitrieva's ball routine in 2012 Olympics) and the clip "Immortelle." She is absolutely amazing.
THANK YOU YOUR EXPLANATION = HOW I FEEL WHEN I LISTENT LARA.
This is a musical art at its best. So much emotion!
you should try je t aime , it was so emotional for her
not much singing to react to though
There’s a « je t’aime » version where the entire audience sings for her which is very emotional but you should listen « Perdere l’amore » :) so happy that you love her !! Btw the one you just comment where from late 90´s :)) she also was a judge/coach on the Canadian version of the voice :)
You should react to Lara singing „Je T’aime” 😍
Especially this one 👉🏻 th-cam.com/video/TJlC4qoo3ro/w-d-xo.html
Or this one may be even better 👉🏻 th-cam.com/video/0YoF6lw-aT8/w-d-xo.html
THANKS LARA THE BEST
Thanks for this reaction and thanks for this emotions, pleas react to your not from here (from Lara with love)
You are at the level of the singer: Top!
Thanks very much
I love that song
It's a long time now (around 6 month) you asked for another great perf from Lara... We are closed to Christmas... Please react to "Broken wow" from the same concert, it would be a wonderful moment for you, and for me too of course !!😄 Grettings from France and lots of love for you and your family 💕
Thankiuu ! For her ! Xxx
what a perfomance, i have nefer felt this way about the perfomance only. it was incredible. she sang the song again in duet on the voice france in 2018. would be great to have a comparison of both perfomances 20 years apart. even though my favorite perfomance is the old one. what is at the base of any art is to share an emotion, and she did that perfectly.
I love Lara. There is something about her style that reminds me of Barbara Streisand.
I agree.
I don't know if you know this already, but Barbara was a HUGE influence on her. I believe it started when she saw Yentl, sitting in a dark theater. She talks about it in one of her concerts, Un Regard 9 I believe.
@@elizabethwhite1068 Hi, no, I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing it. I appreciate it.
@@dianeframe7251 She does an amazing cover of Papa Can You Hear Me/Piece of Sky in two of her concerts. It's an incredible ride! If you're interested here's one of them th-cam.com/video/0_Bqg9pGPek/w-d-xo.html
Лара это мега Звезда без понтов и пафоса.Бравоооо.
You should listen to Lara Fabian 'Broken Vow'.. wow it's amazing!
Lara Fabian forever ❤
