    I have a very old Weihrauch 80 springer which I lovingly restored I have a PCP too but for shear fun the 80 always comes first and at 40yrds it groups at 15mm which is fantastic. Don't get me wrong for pest control the pcp in my eyes is king and so quiet but there's something about the old spring powered which I love, keep up the good work Andy I love all the revues that you do.

    I have a walnut Prosport and I think this shroud/ silencer is ugly, and the checkering on the standard stock is better. Just my opinion 👍

      The skill that took though, they've managed to ruin a Prosport.😮

      I find them impossible to cock but the standard production walnut Pro Sport is the best looking springer in production now. Absolute stunner of a gun. So yes, they've spent five hundred quid to turn perfection into something very average looking. The blueing on AA springers is always superb: why cerakote it?

  • @rumpolehaslett9491
    @rumpolehaslett9491 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

    The only issue I have is.... They could have got the silencer to have the same finish as the rest of the metalwork/shroud. Looks a bit odd in that bluish-grey-black against a bronze barrel, but that's just my opinion and I'm sure many wouldn't even notice that.

    • @davidpaylor5666
      @davidpaylor5666 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I agree. For that much money you expect collar and cuffs to match. They should have cerakoted the mod too. And putting the logo on the mod looks cheap too.

    It really adds to the Weihrauch HW 77/97 debate. The Prosport has IMO, a better feel as it’s significantly lighter at the front end - a good thing unless you’re running off a bench.
    I love my HW97 Thumbhole, but I’d love one of these as an alternative. This example looks amazing.

    Regarding power. I have a .177" Air Arms TX200 for target shooting to which I have added a Tinbum Tuning short stroke kit. I have run it at both 11.8 and 10.5 foot-pounds and concluded the 10.5 is best for target work. Of course, your mileage may vary.

    A very beautiful rifle, and best of all British!! I have a feeling not many of these will see use, a collectors item for sure. Maybe they could do an alternative for use with a left/right stock and a slightly lower price. Or is it solely a promotional thing to generate more business??
    Either way it's lovely to see British quality. This is where we are good at making good quality low volume products. We have to be be proud of this. Thank you Andy.

      The platform it's built on, the AA ProSport, is quite the loveliest air rifle on the market, especially with the walnut sporter stock. They are about £1000 but if I had one of the pimped ones above I'd happily swap it for the production version.

    Thats a crazy price for a springer but I suppose people are now used to daft prices. Dont get on with underlevers myself, especially in .177, as I struggle loading the things. But that's just me.

    • @stephencope7178
      @stephencope7178 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The position of the underlever on the prosport requires more physical effort. I've become a bit of a wimp, due to age, so it's a PCP for me or the Walther LGU.

      @@jizzmonkey9679 still have the HW35, bought in 1975! Still fires fine, it's good looks have also never changed.
      Still have an HW45, bought 20yrs ago I think. Works a treat, can still hit cans at 60yds on a good day. Like old friends, we get on!
      Bought a Diana 34 (?) on AAR recommendation, that's a good gun, seems likely to give good service.
      Have a Crosman 2260 which is a stunning value gun, cost me £100 and a real treat to fire. Shoots like my Australian Lithgow .22LR. Great bit of kit. All these cost way, way less than this gun in question.
      But,
      Always good to have choices and that's what makes life interesting.
      This is why I find a Porsche 992GT3RS to be an amazing thing, but the 991RS is more interesting in my opinion.

    A great review but I think the changes are mostly cosmetic and the original gun (imho) actually looks better. If I was younger and fitter I’d take the ProSport on as the only Springer you need, it reminds me of the early Airsporters I had in the 60’s +70’s. This “upgrade” of the ProSport is an attempt to improve on something that can’t be improved - just my opinion🤷‍♂️.

    Not a chance would I pay 1.5k for an under lever not even at max power. The only decent thing about it is the cosmetics, but none of it adds to performance. Seen you get similar or better results from a £250 break barrel. Probs only made 10 because they know not many ppl would be daft enough to pay that for it... And they don't even throw in a scope at that price? Not sure why you mentioned 'but it does come with a heavy duty case.' Like that's some compensation for no scope? I'd say at 1.5k, a nice case for it should be expected?

    You can't beat custom stocks for quality and design. I have nearly the same stock fitted to my s400 and its near perfect for me. Lovely gun......thanks Andy...

    A Rekord trigger and the load port cut back on the left side would have been better, but that cost more than my AR15 cost lol

    Whatever floats your boat I suppose but it looks to me like someone put white-wall tyres, tinted windows and a carbon fibre wrap on a mint E-Type Jag.

    Nice review as always. Everything looks beautifully machined and obviously performs as a Pro Sport should. Sadly not for me. I prefer the almost liquid, deep blueing of the original. A finish I have come to expect from all the Air Arms I own. The stock looks like a revamped version of my Khamsin, not necessarily a bad thing, but reeks of the 80s. Then we get to the assault on my peepers. The moderator and fluted barrel. Why the need for a moderator ? They ruin the classic Pro Sport silhouette. Did the fluting process require a heavy barrel blank, thus getting rid of the shroud ?

    Great video and great looking gun but as a left-hander it looks like uncomfortable

      As we lefty's are 1 in 7 of the population they could at this silly price make at least 2 from 10

    It's a shelf queen. Thanks for the upload been watching your videos for about 3 year or so.
    I would like to say that it (concerns) me, that left handed shooters are often overlooked by manufacturers or even worse! Considered not worth it.
    Just saying😉

    That silencer spoils the overall look of the gun

    CS800 stock would have been a better choice as for the overkill silencer well that's just so wrong.

    Lovely rifle, no question, but 1½ large puts it up against some serious hardware from Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic and the UK.
    I guess it comes down to 'if you want it and can afford it, fill your boots'

    I don't know. It looks a bit like vandalisation of the industries most beautiful air rifle. Checkering doesn't touch the original. Front end has lost its shape. Barrel colour and twist definitely a matter of taste. No mention of internal tuning, and why did you fire those shots off so quickly?
    Like the thumb versatility but
    I wonder if they will sell so quickly.
