What a great vid. Fantastic explanations , i sold Nissan for dealerships in New Zealand. I sold well , and was able to drive whatever i wanted. I worked in used vehicle dept. And the job came with , company car and fuel card . When 350 first arrived , i always drove zs. In my opinion , they are the most underrated vehicle , i have seen in years. Just in standard form they will outrun most vehicles on the road. Keep in mind NZ will not have the hundreds of exotic makes that the USA will have. But they are so controllable at high speed , most other makes struggle to keep up , throw in a good stretch of winding road and the 350 kills anything brave enough to take corners between 200 - 250 kms per hour. I once became uprooted from my seat , the seat belt reel did not lock , i took a 90 degree turn at a very high speed , compared to normal . I almost ended up on the center console , the Z still took the corner , not any sign of losing traction . And these were all standard vehicles. There are not a lot of modified zs in nz. I can only imagine how a vehicle like yours must perform. Thanks and your presentation skills are 100 percent Cheers Grant
I just bought my first car last night, 2004 g35, it’s auto, has a magnaflow cat back, bc coils, and an Injen intake, it sounds amazing but it needs lots work, this gave me a good insight as to what I should do aside from those 3 thanks bro, keep up the good work!!
thatbluezguy thank you man! Means a lot, I got big plans including a tranny swap, I’ll definitely be tuning in for future vids, glad to see the channel growing✊🏽
Did you get a coupe or sedan? I’ve got a 2003 g35 sedan - over 20 years old now, 230k miles - and no issues aside from routine stuff. But I was sad to find out that most of the cosmetic mods for g35’s are for the coupe, sedan is really lacking in variety of mods
Extreme finger clicking and pointing aside this is a super handy, informative video. Especially for me as I'm just looking to buy a 350Z for the first time!
Great video! The 350z is pretty awesome stock. I love the handling and looks. I will probably buy the K&N because the original air intake system is kind of weak!
Very concise and an good info. I just got my 350z an started watching your videos closely. My service engine soon light came on tho, I think it's because it was raining pretty bad and water hit my AEM intake. She's still running but I can't stand that light lol
Top ENGINE Performance mods that have made the most difference FOR ME in order from most to least are: Tune-Art Pipes-Lmt inch intake-5/16 md spacer- z1 true dual exhaust-75mm NWP tb and spacer- md xyz resonated pipe
Just got my 03 Z last week, loving it so far and going to do a lot of the mods you are mentioning. Except id like to keep my dual exhaust and will add a turbo sometime. thanks for the vids they are very helpful.
You should think of the pulleys, these cars have three, that when you get lighter ones you feel it instantaneously, think about that one. good job btw.
Did most of these mods on my Zed bar the headers and fly, although aiming for the extreme clutch and fly set up shortly, these mods made a real difference. Its not about hp its about torque, hp is pub talk and will vary depending on what dyno you use. Ok its not cheap and gains arnt like the gains youd get from a turbo'd or supercharged car for the same price...remember this is NA. But i liked the gains i got and really enjoyed the journey...which is what its all about at the end of the day.
Awesome vid man i got my g35 6 months ago and I haven’t done much just test pipes d tuning exhaust intake k&n air filter and didn’t know what to do next but now i do thanks
Was your motor a VQ35DE or a VQ35HR? I ask because my 08 m35 has a DE that I want to eventually boost, but I've heard the DE motors are only good for about 380 to 400 hp. From what I've been told, anything over 400 hp @ 8 pounds of boost will blow the motor. Any truth to that?

Just got my g35 a month ago. Its the first non boosted car I've driven. I've built every other motor and boosted it (civic, integra, wrx) and I can tell u the vq35 hauls ass!!
Kody Knutson intake, y-pipe, new coupe mid pipe, and 10k hid's. All the fun stuff is coming...kyb and B&G suspension, new sway bars, finish the redone exhaust with tanabe axle back, new intake manifold. I've been meaning to start a build vlog, just need to get started on it
That is 100% false the oil consumption has to do with the piston rings wearing out and allowing oil past the rings and into the combustion chamber test pipes will have zero effect on oil consumption 👍
I want to add something about gearing. Don’t feel intimidated about it and it’s not that expensive. 370z/g37 (MT) came with 3.69 gears and will bolt up to 350z/g35. 370z nismo (MT) came with 3.9. Find one and just swap the diffs.
By the end of these mods the mods would eventually cost more than my 2006 350z 😂 So I'm jut going with the titanium exaust, intake, light weight flywheel and the hearders
Would you say the kinetic manifold made the car faster besides throttle response? Better than stock with plenum spacer? Looking into getting one but want to make sure it’s worth it
Definitely sounds a lot better and definitely better throttle response as for making the car faster you would have to put it on a Dyno to get those kinds of answers but if you plan on going boost in the future I would absolutely recommend it 👍
Hey..."TBZG". Firstly all you do is great with information and performance wise. But, noted for ALL these things you've talked about, please address upgrades needed ie (ECU or PCM) programming ALL description (Tuning) specifics. Maybe a few minutes longer of your videos...who knows. FYI,..for new viewers getting into their Zzzzzzs ! Keep up the great work (Edification) work for future videos. Thanks for sharing!!!
I'll do you all a solid. NEW TIRES PLENUM SPACER, ONLY 03-04 NEW EXHAUST Everything else is a waste of money unless you go FI. Done. Go home. 350z's are horrible at power Bolt-Ons
I drove my Z with full bolt ons for 5 or 6 months my afr's were wayyy off so i got it flash tuned by z1motorsports and it was a completely different animal not the same car at all undeniably got some big gains not like 30 or 40 hp but more like 15 to 20 isnt unheard of also i knew i was spending a fortune buying parts that may give me 20 hp i did it anyways because i make good money at my job and i wanted a full tomei setup 👍
@@TALONATER not saying you don't make money or you can't. Just overall, unless Z's are being boosted, than it's not worth the hassle. 350zs ate horrible at not on power. I should know. I have an FBO 04, the only thing worth it for Z's are boost
Its not worth the hassle in your opinion, but as you can easily see on youtube hundreds and thousands of people are not listening to your advice and with good reason its there car and its all part of the fun, and what exactly is an 04 fbo?
Awesome video. Im definitely getting the jim wolf clutch with a light weight flywheel. I haven't had my car tuned yet. A local shop wants $500. How does the z1 mailing deal work you gotta data log it first then send it? $300 is way better if you can send it back for a fresh reflash anytime you need too.
Simply remove the ecu, print out and fill out the sheet z1 gives you when purchasing the tune on there site its info about your car, mods, etc. find out how much to ship it and buy a money order for the same amount for return shipping and your good to go 👍
i sent my ecu to them the tuner plugged it into a laptop i assume and then looked up another dyno tuned 350z that had the exact same mods and tuned it that way probly took him a hole ten minutes shipped it back to me i plugged it in and holy hell completely different car animal 👍
@@MJ-bm6jl a tuner will be able to dial your car in even better with a remote tune since they will be able to data log your car to see the live data for the afr's, knock sensors, etc.
Have a lot of fun watching your videos giving me a lot of ideas not getting my car till next week I was wondering what is the computer you have installed above the radio it looks great and what does it display and of course where could I get it
Good morning and thank you for your fast response in one of your videos I think with the blue 350 there is a digital electronics gauge in the center compartment consul on the dash it looks really cool and I’m wondering what it tells you I will try and get a picture
Welp just watched more of the video and I wanna go full tomei my mom said she would split with me on a part and I think I'm gonna do the exhaust it's like 981 on enjuki
it truly is insanely loud and i do get pulled over and ticketed frequently just keep that in mind but it also comes with a silencer should you need it for inspections or whatnot 👍👍👍
great question when you just turn off the tcs switch it only turns off traction but your yaw sensor is still in control meaning you can spin the tires no issues however in a track or tight backroad situation you will feel the vdc during trail braking and during early acceleration before the apex your braking consistency will be terribly inconsistent this is because the ecu will watch for differences in rear wheel speed, steering, and braking input it then triggers a sort of fail safe using the abs which you will feel in the brake pedal making trail braking incredibly inconsistent it also attemts to augment the lsd by applying brakes to one of the rear wheels when your accelerating out of a corner honestly if you just drive on the streets or drag race you will never feel what i am talking about but one aggressive backroad trip and you will see what i mean 👍
thatbluezguy that's his instagram name bro he's the biggest tuner over here in Los Angeles saul_nismo_knights that's his instagram look at some of his work bro Love your car!
you dont know who that is because you dont live close to any good tuners. Saul is literally one the best Vq tuners in not just LA but all of california. he tunes for fresshkicks 600 hp nismo and lowtekk.
Great car and great channel, man. I bought my Z 1week ago and I will keep it as a daily for now. Already traction and ABS are completely gone. For now I enjoy it as it is, but soon I consider an aftermarket plenum. How much whp does your Z push?
Whatz up stud. Just a heads up update on my build. On my revup 2006. Just about finished with it added a AN 10 oil cooler pieced in no kit and that's where it all went wrong. Added my new mobile 1 oil and blew a bad AN 10 fitting I didnt make right. And threw a crank bearing maybe more at 7k rpm. With zero oil in just 2 seconds my 10k mod car was over. Going to try to pull the crank and see if I damaged anything more than just a bearing. Any advice from you would be great brother.
I don't have any advice to give bro I've never done any significant damage like you've done before also this is the number one reason why I do not ever run oil coolers you are not the first person to deal with this many many have done this before you
hey man love you're content i have an 03 350z with almost an identical build to you minus the kinetix velocity plenum , i currently have the v2 plenum but it cracked would you reccomend this plenum with the z1 intake ? i will be getting the car tuned soon also. Cheers!!
Research the Kinetix intake before you waste your money kids, Without all supporting mods it is just a pretty intake that will do basically nothing for a stock motor, I didnt get much on dyno with CAI, TB, Tune and this intake. $1500 for no IMO real gains, It does improve response so you decide if that is worth $700. I yanked it all off and went supercharger. Boost is the only real solution for VQ platform ! Sure you can put full boltons and a tune for $4500 + probably more which i did with great disappointment but you will not gain enough to justify spending that amount of money IMHO ! Save your cash and go turbo or supercharger unless you like losing races !
I have a questions for tuning. For Honda’s for example you usually need to get your ECU Reflashed with Hondata for tuning. For the the 350z do i need to upgrade the ECU before I can take it to the dyno ?
Really interesting video. I have VQ35de in my nissan MPV , but have been considering basic upgrade like intake skunk spacer, but also looked at the kinetic manifold. Do you feel the kinetic manifold, with your NSA setup has been better upgrade or the intake spacer ?
Honestly it's a bit of preference when it comes to numbers the intake spacer will get higher numbers but I like the sound and the look of the nwp and of course in the future if you go boost it's a huge upgrade 👍
@@TALONATER do you think the extra 500 is worth it for the kinetic manifold, perhaps if Iwas to upgrade there throttle body also. That would probably me a greater bhp gain would it not ?
I honestly found the nwp throttle body and the kinetics together we're an incredible buy I really wish I had numbers for these products though unfortunately I just don't have a Dyno close to me
And to me the kinetics is worth it but again it's going to be a preference thing people will say you're going to get a few more horsepower out of the spacer instead
@@TALONATER there is also there benefit of removing the stock nissan intake manifold , which is known to release some of the flap screws into the engine !
So I already got a cold air intake from Z1. I literally just bought a 75mm throttle body kit and the same kinetic manifold that you got from Z1 as well. Do you recommend to get a tune after I get the parts and install them ? Because one of my buddies is suggesting that I should get a MSD ignition before getting a tune and as well changing the spark plugs, and then get a tune.
I wouldn't worry about a tune right now bro I would only worry about a tune when you start messing with headers or exhaust I had an air fuel meter and the only time it ever started running lean is when I put headers on and test pipes
@@TALONATER I greatly appreciate your response brother. Because I truly didn’t know if I needed to get it tune since my friends were suggesting that I should after I make those installations. And I was unsure about what type of tune. I’m pretty much new to this car stuff and learning as I go.
everyone will have a different opinion but mine is a yes i ditched the spacer also the kinetix coupled with the nwp throttlebody and damn its throttle response is super snappy no regrets here 👍
when you are showing the tomei catback exhaust are the test pipes still there? And when you bought the test pipes did you get 2 or one. and when you put the full tomei did you only have to use one test pipe?
im confused 1.yes there still there 2.two 3.not sure why you think i only used one test pipe its a v6 bro and i clearly show the entire exhaust in the video and show and explain the test pipes 👍
So I’m really at the verge of buying that kinetix manifold you got on right now with the nwp TB no spacer doe. Would you recommend me doing that on a good note without a tune? Since i daily drive my G35 and like idky there’s so many bad reviews on that manifold. Just want some advice
the nwp tb comes with the spacer so you wont have to buy it, its designed to run with the tb as for the manifold i love mine coupled with the tb it makes the throttle response much more snappy i highly recommend it and it says no tune required the only thing that made me run lean was after header install hope this helps 👍
I love your car man really piece off art , I just want to ask you about your hosing were did you get it? And does it do any improvement to the car performance ?
if your talking about the smooth larger red hoses there just coolant no performance just replaced my old worn ones got every coolant hose replacement master hose kit from z1motorsports for like 300 the other red plastic looking hoses are just red wire loom i just replaced the old worn out ones got it from ebay you can do your whole engine bay for like 5 bucks oh and a few pcv valve hoses connected to the kinetix z1motorsports sells it pretty cheap by the foot 👍

I want to add something about gearing. Don’t feel intimidated about it and it’s not that expensive. 370z/g37 (MT) came with 3.69 gears and will bolt up to 350z/g35. 370z nismo (MT) came with 3.9. Find one and just swap the diffs.
Thanks for the knowledge bro 👍
By the end of these mods the mods would eventually cost more than my 2006 350z 😂 So I'm jut going with the titanium exaust, intake, light weight flywheel and the hearders
👍
If you are going to keep the car for the rest of your life, does it really matter??
Would you say the kinetic manifold made the car faster besides throttle response? Better than stock with plenum spacer? Looking into getting one but want to make sure it’s worth it
Definitely sounds a lot better and definitely better throttle response as for making the car faster you would have to put it on a Dyno to get those kinds of answers but if you plan on going boost in the future I would absolutely recommend it 👍
*Snap* 👍🏽
Gerardo Salazar you're a bug
Hey..."TBZG". Firstly all you do is great with information and performance wise. But, noted for ALL these things you've talked about, please address upgrades needed ie (ECU or PCM) programming ALL description (Tuning) specifics. Maybe a few minutes longer of your videos...who knows. FYI,..for new viewers getting into their Zzzzzzs ! Keep up the great work (Edification) work for future videos. Thanks for sharing!!!
Absolutely thank you bro i love the feedback 👍
Z1 is right up the street from me and I have a g35 so I have some plans
oh my god your so lucky bro 👍
thatbluezguy lol hell yea man I have a g and my pops has a 86 300zx and a anniversary 350z
wow your z heritage runs deep 👍
thatbluezguy yes sir it does
👍
Thanks for all that knowledge bro! Following and subscribed to your channel 💪💪💪
Thanks man 👍
@@TALONATER no problem! If i ever need some help on something i will deff let you know!
Anytime bro 👍
4:49 what about straight pipe
the tomei is straight piped you could make your own cheaper but i was referring to exhausts you could buy on the market 👍
Sexy engine bay - great vid man! Prices and est hp gains would be nice too
thanks man and your right i should have included those extra very important things 👍
thatbluezguy still an awesome vid!
thanks man 👍
I'll do you all a solid.
NEW TIRES
PLENUM SPACER, ONLY 03-04
NEW EXHAUST
Everything else is a waste of money unless you go FI.
Done. Go home. 350z's are horrible at power Bolt-Ons
🤔
@@TALONATER you cant deny 350zs are horrible for bolt ons, super expensive to get power from the NA engine
Simply remove the ecu, print out and fill out the sheet z1 gives you when purchasing the tune on there site its info about your car, mods, etc. find out how much to ship it and buy a money order for the same amount for return shipping and your good to go 👍
how did z1 tune your car exactly?
i sent my ecu to them the tuner plugged it into a laptop i assume and then looked up another dyno tuned 350z that had the exact same mods and tuned it that way probly took him a hole ten minutes shipped it back to me i plugged it in and holy hell completely different car animal 👍
kjenkins wouldn’t you be able to do the same thing with a remote tune?
I'm not exactly sure what a remote tune is bro
@@MJ-bm6jl a tuner will be able to dial your car in even better with a remote tune since they will be able to data log your car to see the live data for the afr's, knock sensors, etc.
That's true 👍
Have a lot of fun watching your videos giving me a lot of ideas not getting my car till next week I was wondering what is the computer you have installed above the radio it looks great and what does it display and of course where could I get it
I'm not sure what you're referring to about the computer above the radio?
Good morning and thank you for your fast response in one of your videos I think with the blue 350 there is a digital electronics gauge in the center compartment consul on the dash it looks really cool and I’m wondering what it tells you I will try and get a picture
Yeah hit me up on social media and send me a pic bro I'm not sure what you're talking about 👍
You can Fix that sticky clutch with an RJM performance clutch pedal
yes sir thats on my list for spring i cant wait thanks 👍
It's the #1 mod for the 350z, you will see!
thanks man cant wait 👍
Absolutely. RJM Pedal makes shifting so smooth and is crazy easy to install. Very detailed instructions.
nice cant wait 👍
Thank god you are not Thanos. If you were, you already wiped out 80% of living organisms in this planet. Love the engine bay by the way.
i wish I had better editing software so I could transform into thanos at any given time 😂😂😂😂
i noticed the rpms when i switch gears too im like wtf???
Yes sir 👍
Nice Video! Helped me out! Thanks man :)
Anytime bro 👍
Welp just watched more of the video and I wanna go full tomei my mom said she would split with me on a part and I think I'm gonna do the exhaust it's like 981 on enjuki
oh lord you will not be disappointed 👍👍👍
Hopefully not lol I wanna be loud
it truly is insanely loud and i do get pulled over and ticketed frequently just keep that in mind but it also comes with a silencer should you need it for inspections or whatnot 👍👍👍
Love the video and this is no hate, but you said that “this was the biggest difference, hands down!” For every other thing 😂
😂😂😂😂
Why delete trac when you can just hit a button to turn it off..? Never had an issue with it before
great question when you just turn off the tcs switch it only turns off traction but your yaw sensor is still in control meaning you can spin the tires no issues however in a track or tight backroad situation you will feel the vdc during trail braking and during early acceleration before the apex your braking consistency will be terribly inconsistent this is because the ecu will watch for differences in rear wheel speed, steering, and braking input it then triggers a sort of fail safe using the abs which you will feel in the brake pedal making trail braking incredibly inconsistent it also attemts to augment the lsd by applying brakes to one of the rear wheels when your accelerating out of a corner honestly if you just drive on the streets or drag race you will never feel what i am talking about but one aggressive backroad trip and you will see what i mean 👍
thatbluezguy thanks for the knowledge man
Every credible company says a throttle body spacer doesn't improve HP, but is only necessary for turbo mods.
i agree i didnt buy my spacer it came with my new nwp throttlebody 👍
I don't know anything about cars , does anyone want to get in touch and share knowledge? I plan on buying a 350z and my area kinda has alot of JDM.
JDM FTW 🏎
Thanks for the info. Especially about the clutch. :)
Anytime bro 👍
I’ll trade anybody the mishimoto intake my Z came with for their OEM one and a 25 dollar chipotle gift card
The Mechanix still got it
What's wrong with the mishimotos?
So far I’ve just done full greddy exhaust and berk test pipes next is throttle body and plenium spacer
Nice bro 👍
Why don't you send your tune to saul_nismo knights he's a good tuner in LA
no idea who that is and z1 is amazing 👍
thatbluezguy that's his instagram name bro he's the biggest tuner over here in Los Angeles saul_nismo_knights that's his instagram look at some of his work bro
Love your car!
He can give you a flame map a lot of shit max your engine
you dont know who that is because you dont live close to any good tuners. Saul is literally one the best Vq tuners in not just LA but all of california. he tunes for fresshkicks 600 hp nismo and lowtekk.
Nick Nunez yupp I’m telling you bro he will hook you up right
Very good video, priceless information, thanks 💪🏽🤙🏽
thanks man 👍
Great car and great channel, man. I bought my Z 1week ago and I will keep it as a daily for now. Already traction and ABS are completely gone. For now I enjoy it as it is, but soon I consider an aftermarket plenum. How much whp does your Z push?
I wish I knew bro I had my ECU mail in reflashed so I have no clue should be pushing around 280 to the wheels 👍
Awesome video great info
Thanks bro 👍
You should also think about a more aggressive cams, improve power throughout the band or high end power its very versatile
i have considered cams as well still not sure yet but thanks 👍
Cheers!!
I love it for the way it looks and the way it sounds but most people say it's not worth it unless you're going boost so it's totally up to you 👍
@@TALONATER awesome thanks for the reply!
@@seankinsella4963 anytime bro 👍
My God bro you paid almost $5,000 for full bolt ons and a tune where are you shopping at 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have a questions for tuning. For Honda’s for example you usually need to get your ECU Reflashed with Hondata for tuning. For the the 350z do i need to upgrade the ECU before I can take it to the dyno ?
i would call and ask the dyno people man i sent my ecu off for a reflash no dyno tune 😢
Fuck yeah nioce video mate!! I'm gonna do transmission stuff the same time I do headers and spacer so I can get use to the power with new clutch
Nice bro 👍
What did you ship off to get tuned the whole car?? Please explain imma noob going for my first build
Lol it's all good bro I just shipped off the ECU 👍
Do i have to buy uprev software for tunning?? I have a 2003 350z DE with headers test pipes exhaust nismo intake and plenium spacer! Thanks!
Are you trying to tune it yourself or have it tuned?
thatbluezguy im trying to have it tune ! Thanks
Thanks for the video going to start upgrading my de soon
And since mine is auto I would have to upgrade the flexplate right?
@@im.genesis I don't have an automatic so I can't speak on that bro sorry 👍
what a chill guy
thanks man
Really interesting video.
It's all good bro we all got to start somewhere and don't be afraid to ask questions 👍🏻
@@TALONATER most definitely bro. Thanks again 🙏🏽
Anytime bro
I have a 5/16 spacer with the mrev2 lower plenum. Do you think the $700 kinetix is worth buying to replace my set up if I don't plan to boost?
everyone will have a different opinion but mine is a yes i ditched the spacer also the kinetix coupled with the nwp throttlebody and damn its throttle response is super snappy no regrets here 👍
great video
Thanks bro 👍
Love your vids. Will you ever do a boost built vid?
i am highly cosidering boost 👍
when you are showing the tomei catback exhaust are the test pipes still there? And when you bought the test pipes did you get 2 or one. and when you put the full tomei did you only have to use one test pipe?
im confused 1.yes there still there 2.two 3.not sure why you think i only used one test pipe its a v6 bro and i clearly show the entire exhaust in the video and show and explain the test pipes 👍
Hitachi makes the factory throttle body. That one is probably bored out
Nwp is a Brand new 75mm OEM Nissan Hitachi Electronic Drive-By-Wire Throttle Body not bored 👍
Wait a minute, I think I saw you somewhere on Facebook doing a travel vlog. Hmmmmm
Nope wrong person bro 👍
I thought the same thing lmaoo
@@TALONATER are you guys related though? The accent and facial looks is almost the same.
@@beethoven8256 I have no clue who you're talking about bro
I wish I just had a 350z, let alone a badass one like this
In time my bro in time you will get your car 👍
Do you drift the car ? If so have you pulled pin in Ecu so you can left foot brake ?
no i dont drift but what is this pulling of a pin in the ecu, i know about pulling the brake fuse for this but then you have no brake lights please give me all info on the ecu pin thanks 👍
what about cams for more lift I feel like that would add a heavy amount of HP
Absolutely I highly considered doing the cams but for the maybe 30 extra horsepower it was a lot of work and a lot of money
@@TALONATER yeah cams for a k series is like $1500 :(
@cesarflores1145 😞
Thanks for sharing dude. Cool video
