I think you e mentioned it before about tire psi, but that 305/70R18 is still a 10 ply rated tire. The reason it’s max pressure is only 65psi is because it’s over 295mm wide. So it’s called a load rate E2 vs 195mm and under which is an E1 with 80 psi max.
Fair points. Im looking to get this truck in gas engine, AEV edition as I’m not towing anything heavy. I’m mostly gonna be using for low speed harsh terrain off-roading so I think the AEV package is perfect for a camper build.
It’s an off-road oriented truck so it can never be compared to a truck equipped for towing. I’m amazed they can still manage to get ~3000 lbs of payload in the gas AEV version, unlike the Ram PW. If you buy this truck specifically for towing it’s probably the wrong truck for the money.
All I want to know is will 37" fit without any modifications?
No
I agree with number 1 for sure. I want to buy this truck but I need to have a 3500. I wonder why they don't build this in a 1 ton package?
I actually have to say good front and rear steering bumpers are gonna be at least 4-5 grand not including shipping and install. Then good wheels are 2 grand. So theres 7 grand. Add 700 for the skid plates and 500 for stitching thats over 8200 bucks. It is a high price but for factory fit it unfortunately is close in price although super expensive
Say no to overpriced AEV package 😤
You answered my question. I ordered a ZR2 2500HD and searched vigorously for the "heavy-duty tow package" when building the order. Saw many videos talking about this option but your the 1st to state that it isn't available on the ZR2 trim.
You nailed it! 65 psi max cold! I run 67-70 psi on my 2011 hd2500.
Point 2 I went with zr2 non bison. I can add a 2.( inch lift, sell from and rear pumped for a couple thousand. That leaves me $11k for 2 aev bumpers, winch, tint and retrax pro xr bed cover. Also maintain the gooseneck 18100 tow rating! No brainer
For the Bison, if you think about all the machining on the AEV wheels, the fabrication and cost of materials for bumpers and skids, plus labor the Bison package pencils out. You might nor want to pay that, buy someone bears the cost of materials, production, shipping, installation, marketing, etc.+ profit.
Love this truck package. Done just right from factory.
Man if you got 700lbs of payload after your pin weight you are golden. My last camper I had 35 pounds left lol
The payload on my 2011 LTZ Z71 Crew Cab is 2792 and I had a 42ft 5Th wheel camper pulled with no issues also pull a 32ft flat bed no issues so my upgrade to this is awesome
I have the GMC version of this truck - AT4X - and LOVE it! Such an amazing truck so far!
Imagine the cost to repair some of these items in the future.
So glad Chevy makes a truck for the average income. So practical, economical and powerful. I would definitely pay 30K for this beauty.
🤣😂 had me confused on the first part
Great review! I agree with all your points. Too bad no 3500...
Fair enough complaints.
To offer another view on the 2500 only debate, 40’ fifth wheels need a truck with 6 tires in front of them to begin with. As far as the Bison package, I think that’s meant for people who truly will take the trucks off road because it really emphasizes replacing or enhancing things that suffer trail damage.
I 100% agree with they should offer an appearance package and I think it’s coming as they have confirmed a Trail Boss HD. It’s my opinion it will get the tires for sure and possibly the lift. I know one thing is for sure, it will be wildly popular. And hopefully they do like the half tons and offer it in the Custom trim and LT.
Hey JB reviews awesome video man! Thank you for posting videos for us. I learned something out of it. Keep up the hard work on making these types of videos man!
Spends half the video saying the bison package is overpriced, and only reason for getting it is to show if you spent $9k for bumpers. Then says he’d take the Bison decal off. How are you going to spend 5 minutes of rambling about things he could’ve found out within 1 minute of research on chevys website? The multipro tailgate is included in the bison package which is a $1500 option in of itself.
I wanna see this in the lakeshore blue metallic
it sure does... price out custom bumpers... skid plates and after market wheel... with installation.... also if you buy a OFF ROAD ...HD .. its a off road HD... if you you want a HD to tow.... DONT buy a HD built for OFF ROAD.... 🤔🤔🤔
Bison package is nice but not worth it I totaly agree.
Would you not get an electronic locking differential with the AEV package? They do that on the at4X.
Why they don’t put expensive tires on an expensive truck?
In my opinion why would someone buying 3/4 ton go for the max trailering, you get 350 pounds less payload than a 1 ton but all the same components making the harsh ride.
Allows you to pull a 14k trailer while staying under CDL weights
Gotcha that makes sense
Looks awesome!
I’m thinking Gm is restricted to 1 ton due to tires and tire size. 65 psi and tire weight rating. I’m guessing
Honestly, Id switch out the wheels, wrap in a 37" and get the bumpers and save about 5k
2024 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax LTZ here. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! Limp mode and dashboard lights at 200 miles. Happened several times after. Software update from dealer, hard shifting. 2200 miles, transmission leaking. This model year is a LEMON! DO NOT BUY! This thing has and MSRP of $87K! The dealer can give 2 craps about it.......The worst purchase of my life
My 2024 had to have the oil cooler and steering gear box replaced. So far no more issues. Love the truck otherwise.
I’ve had GM trucks for 20 years, my 2021 Chevy 2500 was junk , left it broken at a dealership and drove out in a 2024 Ram , gonna see how this goes . No quality anymore. Pick one of any brand you like and hope for the best. Good luck to you .
I’m keeping my 23 2500hd high country I ordered the 24 zr2 but way to many issues with the 24
Gas it is 👍
@@mikehill3764 lol
Are the seats in the Chevy/GMC 2500’s comfortable? I have been hearing they’re stiff and not comfortable.
I personally don't like the chevy gm seats. Ford super duty seats much more comfortable
@@vinnie8495 agreed has kept me from gm many times I have test driven GM with all intentions of. Using and actually walked away cause of the seats.
The new 24 models are still stiff?? Damn it. I drove the F250 and didn't like it, and Im not buying a Ram. Looks like i'm screwed!
my fork lift has a better seat what are they thinking@@fit4ya1975
They went to the lower pressure tires to keep the wimps from crying about the ride when equipped with 80 psi tires .
And tires that big have enough capacity at the lower psi.
Well I took out 80 psi because the first time I took it on gravel, 2 flats on the same tire, 80 psi is to much also shit goodyear tires ,got 12ply now, with 60 psi👍
Obviously you haven’t purchased aftermarket bumpers, wheels, Lights before and then had to pay to have them installed. I would never pay that much, but that price is absolutely ballpark for that upgrade.
if i where to get the ZR2 i would not get the Bison those rock sold bumpers are cool but i could not see myself going threw rocky type of terrain whitch i think thats what they would be good for i'm more off a Baja and sandy type of off road driving
I would want to change wheels
AEV is too expensive!
What color is this? Slate or Sterling Grey?
Is that 350lbs over the stock bumpers?
Do they gave one on the lot?
Silverado es Silverado el poder américano haciendo historia.... Que Camioneta 😍 más bella
Cause if you're serious about payload you need the one ton more than the at4x features.
So it dont have 10 ply E rated tires? How can it tow heavy? Eff that
Is this the slate gray color?
A lot of people spend $1000s of dollars on their trucks for aesthetic reasons. There are AEV fan boys out there that will pay that extra $9000.
Ehh, depending on how you look at it. If you’re gonna actually off-road then all the protections make sense and they’re under warranty. But yeah if you’re just gonna spend the money because of how it looks (and there’s nothing wrong with that) then that’s a waste.
@@whocaresjustdoit Let's Be clear anyone worth tneir weight in salt don't wheel these to their limits. They're good looking pavement princesses, and that's ok.
305/70/18 us pretty much a 35" tire not a 34"
To be honest, I have a 2024 Silverado HD Duramax with the Midnight Edition. It has everything the ZR2 has. I have upgraded suspension, 34 inch Hancook MT2 Tires, & black rims. The only difference is the bumpers. I think my midnight looks much cooler! Just my opinion. I agree the price is not worth it.
Jb help me out.. I dont understand how the Duramax has 18,100lbs towing for 5th wheel/gooseneck and the Gas version has 18,070lbs towing 5th wheel/gooseneck....How/Why is that??....Also.....I really want this truck but I'm gonna be towing a, let's say 15-16k(dry13.5k)5th wheel....do you think I'm OK to do this?
My assumption would be suspension, due to diesel engines being heavier, suspension is turned slightly stiffer can't be much if 30ibs is the only difference. For your towing application the tow capacity isnt an issue, you need to look at carry cap. Depending on what your tongue, maybe shooting for a LTZ trim with the max tow will benefit you more as i've found the zr2 get less carry number's in comparison.
He said priced we'll 😂😂😂😂😂
Bison pkg is a rip off .. way overpriced, stock rims look better , don’t need the stitching, and I could buy the bumpers afterwards and save thousands
Agree. Ugly wheels. Who gives a shit about embroidered seats in a truck? Color combo looks ugly.
Payload on my 21 3500 srw is 3803
Can the dealer not recalibrate your speedometer?
It won't be out ,comes with 34.5 inch tire from factory
This truck could replace the colorado if the mid size off roader had the high country package which i wish they made
Replace? This trucks is a completely different market than the Colorado. It’s two slots above it actually. You’ve got the small Colorado, then the 1500 Silverado then this.
Hate is a strong word. Why not say dislike or disagree with your point of view instead of using the word hate.IJS
1st time I’ve ever been the first view and commenter 😇
The Bison decals on the bed and seats are pretty ugly. The wheels are cool and the front bumper is ok, but the back bumper you lose the foot step. Who comes up with this?
Aev is a rip off
Wasamatta JB, you forget the zero? 😆
Bro, your dislikes make you seem like "Petty Roosevelt" (Flossy again). You're beating this truck up because it's not a 3500. This truck, as it sits, is the best 3/4 ton off road truck you can get.
Do you know if the multi-matic shocks are adjustable? The back sits too high.
I don't like the center console, how's my girl going to give good road head with that in the way?
American automobile manufactures produce primarily for the IN DEBTED American gullible consumer market. All the big US truck builds have major reliability issues with in the first 24 months of ownership, the cost is astronomically expensive relative to the quality of these "KEN mobiles" This 2024 silverado zrs will be riddled with electrical problems within the first 5 years rendering it USELESS!!! ALL SHOW AND NO GO! Iveco, Toyota, Kino, Mitsubishi, Mercedes Benz, Kamaz, these are the big trucks of the present and future.
Of course you can get this in a 1 Ton.
Tires are to small still. Needs 37
This truck is really impressive hardware but when it actually comes to performing in dirt off road terrains, Driving Sports TV did an episode with this truck.. this didn’t perform that good actually.
What’s embroiderment???
My guy, how many brand new trucks you owned in 2023....? 🤣😝
You wouldn't want to 5th wheel tow any RV with that truck no matter the weight. The bed is too short, which will severely reduce your turn radius. The first time you try to maneuver into the gas station or a parking lot, and turn even close to tight, your rv will hit the cab. They do have 5th wheel hook-ups that sit back closer to the tailgate, but those will drop the weight behind your axle instead of over the top, so you lose significant payload.
You’ve seen the 100 videos JB has referenced towing using this short box right?
The GM HDs have the longest standard bed in its class. Can easily tow a fifth wheel without a slider…it has been shown multiple times that the placement of the fifth wheel hitch doesn’t effect weight transfer whatsoever
Will the fifth wheel trailer be level due to the truck height?
2024 anything will only be trustworthy in 2030. Otherwise, buy 2020 and before
C'mon dude. nobody is off-roading a 3500...
Price 😂
Off-road trucks (tremor, raptor, trx, and whatever the Chevy z crap is) are poser trucks.
So in your eyes, only people driving base model trucks with no personality are cool? Posing as what? Zealot fool
