He had seen Ronaldo waste some free kicks earlier in this game so when this one came up he picked the ball himself. He was a complete midfielder with a very good free kick technique. Too bad injuries ruined his career after this season. He won so many trophies though including two champions league trophies with Bayern Munich and United.😊

He would have helped filled the gap left by Keane and he could also keep the ball effortlessly, so Scholes would not have left such a big absence in the games he missed (and obviously when he retired). Hargreaves had a wonderful ability to consistently win the ball without going to ground. Hard as nails and what an engine. I remember United playing Liverpool away and Hargreaves played and tackled Gerrard out of the game - it was fantastic!

I feel really bad for Owen Hargreaves. Because he was an outstanding player when he was fit for Manchester United. But he was so unlucky with his injuries. In his last season when he walked off with that hamstring injury against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford, after 5 minutes, I was devastated for him.
