    1. Deploy the dingy, 2. Deploy the anchor, 3. Put the anchor in the dingy, 4. Take the dingy as far out as the anchor line will allow, 5. Drop the anchor, 6. Activate the windlass as the tide comes up and move the boat to deeper water, 7. If the engine works, use it to motor out, 8. If not, leave her anchored and call for a tow.

      Exactly. They are fortunate the boat is flat-bottomed one probably with raised keel.

    • @aaronwalker8847
      @aaronwalker8847 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Assuming the boat aint leaking too bad from the keel being broke off. Then your plan work perfectly
      Or If the boat has a collapsable keel that was collapsed, then yours is the perfect plan.

    Put the anchor out 300 feet then everytime the waves pick up the boat use the windless gently.

    So it takes him 4 minutes to lash on three lines to cleats… Someone is in over his head…

    I think this is a French built Ovni aluminium shallow (2ft) draught yacht with lifting keel, twin rudders and sail drive that could, in calm conditions normally be beached quite safely. However, in these conditions, on a relatively decent sloping shingle beach with lively sea, this boat could be pulled off, stern first with stout line or harnessed line by tow or, as someone suggested earlier, attaching line to a well set anchor or preferably, fixed buoy and winched off. The occasional larger wave seen here breaking on the shore would have been capable of lifting the yacht free had, the Ovni been turned stern-to the sea. Problem here is the the crew are faffing about quite ineffectually with unravelling lines from the bow that will never usefully get the boat off the beach. Calling for assistance of passing boat to get the line out would have been a better plan than allowing the rudders and sterndrive to be ripped off, potentially holing the boat. The rudders and stern drive will in this short time have sustained major damage and the hull severely pummelled. What a waste of a good boat. It’s never easy deciding what best to do when under pressure but this crew were struggling. Had this drama occurred in UK waters I confidently believe someone with a boat would have offered useful assistance. No one likes watching a boat being destroyed by panicking and incompetent crew. And goodness knows how the Ovni came to be in this position in the first place? Engine failure or just broke free from moorings

      @billhanna8838 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe a good reverse on the motor would probably get her back in deeper waters with those waves , Pick your time

    • @simonjones2240
      @simonjones2240 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fact the crew were faffing about with no idea what they were doing tells you how the boat ended up there!

    • @evanofelipe
      @evanofelipe ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. It is such a shame that a thing of beauty is in such inept hands. This goes to show that Money doesn’t buy common boating sense

    @aaronwalker8847 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh gosh! Im sorry that happened to yall guys. The guy kevin in the first comment is right about how to get the boat back in the water, in that situation . Assuming she isnt leaking too bad due to loosing the keel. At least you could put all of the weight low and motor in for repairs.
    If you have a collapsable keel, and it was collapsed - then no repairs required once she is afloat obviously.

    • @christancouette
      @christancouette ปีที่แล้ว

      She is an Ovni from Alubat, a centerboard with removable kill and rudder so no repairs for this very solid sail boat!

    )) Why they run with these ropes, because of their running around nothing changes ... For something so paradoxically beautiful as the waves beat this yacht .. Class! It looks like human emotions! .. They shred but can not saddle anything. And yachtsmen are helpless and wave in front of the completely stupid position of the yacht. One buttock in the sand, another in the sea))

  • @blueocean2510

    A problem exists, marine crafts are used by people, many who have no experience or qualifications.
    No one should go to sea, without being trained and if possible qualified. It would be safer for everyone. Thank you. # Heroes AtSea.
