    Thanks so much for doing this video, absolutely brilliant! Changed mine today and aside from a bit of messing around getting the cable clip bit off I did it in under an hour thanks to your video.
    Saved me hundreds, got a £35 aftermarket linkage and motor!

    Thanks Tom. Your video helped me do the job myself. Part cost £15 posted off Ebay, and I got a ratchet set and E10 connection for £20. Took me about 40 mins. Problem sorted for £35. Cheers.

    You gave me the confidence to do this job. Took my time and an hour later all sorted, hardest bit was re locating the new linkage, not actually difficult, just a bit fiddly. Cost me £45 for the part and an E10 socket, garage quoted £275. Thank you

  • @soulbrotherjimmy
    @soulbrotherjimmy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent, thanks Tom. You gave me the confidence to have a go and I managed it, no bother.
    Getting the water hose disconnected from the cowling was tough, so I just left it connected ~ it didn't get in the way.
    Many years since I last used a socket set ~ got a basic 3/8" one in Screwfix and got the 3/8 to E10 socket in Halfords for £4. Sorting those was the hardest part. Cheaper than paying the garage to do it though and I've got a socket set for next time something stops working! Got the 2nd hand mechanism for £20 off ebay.
    Thanks again Tom.

    Thank you for this video! I had to remove the other plastic cover to change the linkage (maybe there's less room in the left-hand-drive model/Opel Corsa D), but then it worked perfectly.

    Tom good video. I messed up. Hit the splined bolt with a copper hammer and bent the bracket. Put it back together another 3 times after taking a whisker off the wiper arm spring as it was scratching the windscreen, then adding a washer under the wiper motor housing. Then bending the bracket back up and adding another washer. Finally it was good to go. a 1/4 af socket will do if you don't have an E30 tool

    Hi Tom, my whipers will not come off, wiggling by hand or with grips, they just won't budge. Nut and washer is off, are they just siezed on and need a GOOD ragging? I'm afraid of damaging the below workings trying to get them off.

    • @TomsDriveway
      @TomsDriveway  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah give them a good pull or just a wiper puller which would be much safe and much more recommended

    • @soulbrotherjimmy
      @soulbrotherjimmy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've just done mine. The wipers took a little persuasion, but not too much. If you haven't already, it helped to lift the actual blade back, then got both hands on the arm close to where the nut came off and applies a combo of force and jiggling. Don't worry about damaging the workings underneath~ that's all part of the part you're about to replace.

    • @worrun1505
      @worrun1505 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@soulbrotherjimmy I am a strong lad and I was just about pulling it and waggling it enough to not break it, in all directions and under pressure from either end. that's why I put grips beneath it; open; and tried to lift them up to pull it from both sides but it was having none of it. also, i was only removing to remove cowl and change washer jets, so damaging the motor wasn't an option :D it's sorted now but i appreciate that help
