- "Wipe", 1999.
Wipe formed in 1999. That spring, before the group even released any material, the group had its first lineup change when drummer Furuton left. He was immediately replaced by Yasuhiro (泰弘), and in August of 1999, Wipe simultaneously released their first single and album, with the single being titled "I Go Against Slider" and the album being self-titled. Both the single and album had decent sales in the underground music scene, and the group went on to tour heavily throughout the remainder of the year. In March of 2000, Wipe released their second single, "Purple EP", and later released their third single "Strobe EP" that June and their second full length album, "Open", in July of 2000. All three releases had strong sales as well, and Wipe went on to tour throughout the remainder of 2000, before abruptly announcing their official disbandment in early 2001. Yasuhiro would go on to join the indies group Sphere, which would eventually disband, and he then joined another underground group, Sugar Parade (シュガーパレード), and also joined the supergroup Seiten no Hekireki (青天乃霹靂), and Yasuhiro remains active in both today. The bassist of Wipe, Yoshiyuki (嘉之), went on to join two more groups at the same time: Food and Ashbury, although both would end up folding by 2002. He then joined the obscure indies group Blow, which would split as well by 2005. Afterwards, Yoshiyuki would temporarily retire from the underground music scene, but returned in 2012 when Food reunited with him as a member. He remains somewhat active in Food today. The guitarist of Wipe, Makoto (誠), would go on to form another group, Drop, which would dissolve as well by 2005. Afterwards, Makoto would reunite with Yasuhiro in Sphere, and also join the group Hoodis, although both Hoodis and Sphere ended up disbanding by 2008. Makoto would then reunite with his earlier group, the massively popular alternative band Zeppet Store, as well as join the extremely popular supergroup Tokyo Shoegazer (東京酒吐座), although Tokyo Shoegazer would end up disbanding shortly after he joined. In 2019, Tokyo Shoegazer reunited, although Makoto did not rejoin, and he remains active as a member of Zeppet Store today. The frontman of Wipe, Hirofumi (浩文), would join the popular indies group Raff-Cuss, as well as start his own solo project, Suzuki Bed Music, although both projects would end up dissolving in 2011. Afterwards, Hirofumi would then reform his older group, the legendary visual group Eins:Vier, and would remain active in the group until it also disbanded a second time in 2013. Hirofumi would then form the duo Yohiaco with the guitarist of Eins:Vier, Yoshitsugu, and in 2017, Eins:Vier would reunite again with Hirofumi included in the lineup, and he would also resurrect solo project Suzuki Bed Music in 2020 as well. Hirofumi currently remains active in Eins:Vier, Yohiaco and Suzuki Bed Music today.
