Most likely the author speaks not from experience but makes assumptions. One should definitely buy a regular sized dishwasher if have the room for it. However, given a small kitchen, having a countertop dishwasher actually is much better than not having it. If you wash your dishes by hand, you will need a dish drainer which takes up space anyway. You might as well use that space to have an appliance which will save you tons of valuable time and energy. Unless you love washing the dishes. Which I don't, obviously. I bought a countertop dishwasher for a small kitchen and I tell you, it was the best idea. Works like magic and gives the freedom to use that time for other activities. I absolutely love it.

Yes, this guy makes assumptions for sure. My house is small and was built in the 1960's. Our electric is already at capacity. We would have to pay over 2k to upgrade that part. Then hire a plumber and a carpenter to tear up my kitchen to create room for a built in. Then I still have to buy the full size dishwasher? No thanks, I bought a Comfee and love it.

  • @wendyford2252

I disagree. A counter top dishwasher is suitable for single people, I bought myself the comfee from Amazon, it’s a full half size and so it’s easy to fill when there is only one person a larger dishwasher wouldn’t suit me as it would smell bad before I had enough pots to fill it with. Each person has to decide what their needs are and for a single person a counter top suits me fine, the comfee was easy for me to attach to the tap myself and easy for me to use. Also being it’s counter top and I am elderly it’s easier for me to reach into as bending down is a little more awkward. So look at what it is you need from a dishwasher, how many people you need it for, mine would suit two people easily as it is a full half of a standard dishwashing machine, I just put it on when it’s full which is about twice a week. Obviously if you used it for more people you would run it more often.

These are not reasons to "NOT BUY" one, these are reasons to consider if one is right for you. If you need a larger one, get a larger one, if you need a small one, a counter top might be one you that's good for you-especially those that have the water reservoir so you don't need to hook it up to the faucet, just need the drain hose sitting in the sink. This would be like saying "reasons to not buy a van". There are some brands that have an excellent 30 minute cycle that will get all of your dishes clean.

Not everyone has the space, hook-ups or permission to use a full sized dishwasher in their home. I live in an apartment and our landlord forbids the use of dishwashers. Many new countertop models don't even require water hook-ups because they have an internal 5-6L tank we can fill up by pouring water through the top/front depending on the brand. Most are poured in on top. There was only one I found where the water inlet was in front just below the door. These newer models have features that put even full sized units to shame like hygiene or sanitize modes which blasts your wares with steam from 156°F to as high as 212°F. So I don't know what missy is going on about small units developing mold as a good thing.
I lolled so hard when her point was the capacity and size limitations. Honey its a countertop small space machine. Why would you keep comparing it to a full size unit... Are you deficient or just ignorant. These machines are great for RV's and trailers because they only use 5L of water per load. Versus a full size machine can use upwards and over 30L per cycle, which in some cases with machines that run heavy duty dirt cycles can mean 60-100L of water use. The water Tank on a typical RV is average 180L.. so we don't want to be draining more than half just to do your dishes. Which is why the newer countertop models work so well. Only using 5L per cycle.
Newer countertop machines with 5-6L built in tanks have 5-6 wash cycles which include a baby bottle sanitize mode, a glassware mode and even a fruit wash mode. That is something a full size machine can't do.
Its clueless morons like her who waste water because their assumption is the tap runs the water so it will always be available. Or because they pay for it, why can't they keep using it. They don't think of anyone but themselves and think water conservation is a myth. Wait until everything stops working including the city water supply ... dare we suggest some sort of natural diasaster where the cities infrastructure is out of commission. Or there is a water shortage in the city and they tell residents to stop washing cars, watering lawns and stop running dishwashers. A typical hand washing of dishes can easily run 50L of water.
My only beef with these small countertop units is they are taller than standard counter to cupboard space clearance. Typical space is 18" between the countertop and the bottom of the upper cabinets. But these machines with the exception of a handful are all 18.1 - 19.4" tall. The three shorter than 18" units have their own quirks. The regular run cycle on one is a whopping 130 minutes (2hr 10m). What they call a short eco mode is 59 mins which is the same time as the taller 18+ inch machines. Their eco mode is average 29 minutes. Or they have other weird quirks like not a typical layout as its is designed like a banquet chaffing dish with a half cylinder roll top cover. That one didn't even have a dry mode. The one I'm looking at is the Comfee 17.1" countertop unit with the stupid 130m run cycle. Why because my countertop space is limited to 17.5" and only the Comfee will fit. But this way I can remove the dish rack which permanently sits on the counter. And the Comfee footprint is actually smaller than my full size Rubbermaid dish dry rack.

They dry very good. And you can put them under the sink or in a cabinet. And for for small households its very good because you do not have to wait days before the washer is full. They can take up to 12 inch dishes.

I have a danby countertop dishwasher that I've had for 3 years. It has done us just fine for washing our dishes daily. If you put the dishes in properly you can easily fit everything in it without overcrowding. Mine fits bulky dishes like casserole pans and pots. I just have to do them separately in another load or even handwash them if needed. My dishwasher dries our dishes just fine with rinse aid. It works just like a full size one does

I disagree as well as I have a countertop dishwasher from Amazon which is a Comfee I think. I got it on discount and I absolutely love it. Like some of the other people here it really frees up time for other things and as I suffer from ADHD I find that it's just such a major breakthrough having this to help day to day. It gets loads in it comparatively and if you run it on 30 minutes it's really economic and gets the dishes pretty much clean unless they're really hard baked. For me as a single person I can fill it up in a day and wash once a day and unless I have enough to do an extra load if I've have a visitor 👍

Countertop dishwashers aren’t made for people with large families nor for people who throw parties that’s common sense, like several other people pointed out countertop dishwashers are made for single people or maybe two people. Dishwashers come with different modes including heavy and if you use good dishwashing detergent you can even use quick wash and get the dishes clean, I use Cascade platinum pods.

    What LOAD OF CRAP!
They can be put on a cart, and rolled back and forth.
Obviously they aren't like a big one hence forth COUNTER TOP!
If you even do 2 loads a day it uses less water than a big one. If you have a routine even though they are smaller it will still be better than standing and hand washing. Especially for disabled people or people that just hate doing dishes (I'm guilty on both counts)
A countertop dishwasher is well worth the money. They use less water than hand washing or full size dishwasher.
You do have to clean the filter, I do mine once a week. When the load is done crack the door and let them air dry also.
I do use a cheaper version of jet dry and I have no problems at all. Now placement of your load is also a factor in getting your dishes clean, if loaded right you can get alot in there from pots pans dishes plastic items, I even do my crockpot crock in my dishwasher and my 2 rice cooker inner pots along with other items. I have a magic chef and it does use counter space, but well worth what you get in return! With Proper maintenance and care it should last you a good long time. The way I see it, buy one try it for 2 weeks get your routine going and then make your decision. My girlfriend was against them for years, she was in the mind set of the big old timey back in the 80's kind. I kept telling her the ones these days are more energy efficient and uses way less water. Well we had pipes burst was without water for a month and a half, so I bought an even smaller dishwasher so I didn't have to have the sink hook ups, I just pour the water in the top and let it do it's thing. After the pipes were fixed I had a hard time deciding which I liked more, they both had different good points. Anyway my girlfriend decided she wanted to try since I had it extra. Well 2 weeks in she has her routine and she loves it! She made herself a believer! She is buying it from me. Go in with the right expectations a small dishwasher isn't gonna do a restaurants pile of dishes in one load. Do you do all your laundry in one load?
So don't listen to this BS video.

Most countertops dishwashers 💦 have 5 programs plenty for a dishwasher large or small.
I have no problems with my
    STP countertop dishwasher.
I have had it for 5 yrs now.
Just make sure you clean your filter each wash or second. Your wash arm look for any debris that might clog the holes. With a tooth pick and shaking stuff out. I wished they made a arm that could open easy and snap back.
For easier cleaning and tight debris that are really hard to get. Using a tablet is sometimes to much . Cut them in half . For normal soiled dishes a full one for heavy soiled grease dishes or tomato sauce dried on food.
    No need to Rinse...just scrape.
The full tablets can make it to sudsy .
So I buy liquid and powder for small loads or regular. For flexibility and no sudsing .
    I do a plate wash .
    Then a bowel wash .
    And all glasses.
If i have alot of dishes.
I do a pots and pans one as well or large bowels. Or lids they come out nice. Of course mixed everyday loads.
I use rinse only to flush the dishes down and stay wet until a full or light load. If really dirty ill rinse them twice and then us the main program.
    My dishes dry .
But plastic can be a problem.
    I just wipe them dry.
Or water left in top of cups or anything that holds water.
    There nothing to run.
Water is like 3 to 5 gallons max if that.
    Depending on the program.
I also pop my door just a little for air to circulate if there at the end gives a better dry.
    Mine is quit.
You will hear water draining my pump is fairly quit . When away or doing other things you want hear it .
Even if your close it's a soothing sound. Not a super quiet machine but not annoying either .
    So H@ppy W@shing.🌀

Small kitchen spaces... Counter space vs Cabinet space... it depends on what you can afford to give up. I've had Portable (on wheels), Countertop and Under Counter (installed) versions. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED my Kenmore Portable the most. It gave me a middle... increased counter space via its top, no less cabinet space, years and years never broke down and Excellent dish cleaning. Comfee brand Counter Top washer was a good cleaner for up to sauce pan sized dishes, it was a huge relief alternative to our leasor's choice GE cheap Under Counter washer that was also a Dish Breaker due to it's very poor design. Left dishes dirty too. Research and read reviews when deciding.
This video's points, through til the last minute of the video, makes it's points against ALL dish washers in Favor of Hand Washing dishes. Why is this video up at all?? Dishwashers of all types are helpful as long as they clean what you need them to. Trash talking dish washers... washing by hand has its hazzards too, ecoli - not able to keep hands in hot enough water, exposing skin to irritands, those who have arthritis, drying rack takes up as much space as counter tops, time consuming. Biased creator perspective not based on well informed facts.

In terms of "small kitchen" countertop surface of course is important, but in mathematics, if you shrink down something, the surface area will be rooted by power of 2 while volume gets rooted by power of 3 (bad English), meaning that the decrease in storage space will be way more than the decrease of countertop surface area

Reason # 1 - Limited capacity. Off the bat, this video is giving signals about how poorly its grasp is on what countertop dishwashers are supposed to be for and for who they're supposed to be for. It's a given that these machines will not wash your entire house party's worth of dishes, and the truth is said house party is not even an "every Friday night" situation. Chances are, these machines are picked up for smaller homes that don't even have the capacity to host big parties that warrant the need for a bigger dishwasher, as this video is suggesting we pick up instead of small ones.
Reason # 2 - Countertop space. No one who is interested in buying a countertop dishwasher is going to be complaining that they don't have enough countertop space; they would've been smart enough to take the necessary measurements and scoped out their options. It's either they have the space or they don't. And by the time they have fully decided on picking up a machine, they have understood whatever "sacrifice" they're going to make and have made compromises and contingencies accordingly.
Reason # 3 - Poor drying. As a few have already pointed out, this is just not true; even small dishwashers can dry well, if not very well. Do your research better before it gets stumped by actual owners.
Reason # 4 - Less wash cycle. If this is supposed to be a suggestion to either (a) use a bigger dishwasher or (b) do regular handwashing of dishes, then guess what, you have no sales. Also suggesting that these smaller versions of dishwashers don't clean as good as the bigger machines does not give an impression on your either channel, considering how there is a "5 Best Countertop Dishwasher" for last year and from 2 years ago from you.
Reason # 5 - Fewer features. If those features are critical to getting dishes cleaned (which, chances are, they mostly aren't), then it would make sense. Adjustable racks? Sure it's nice, but this feels it's under the impression that a small home was trying to fit a pot into the machine (and while that could somehow be the case, no could be that dumb to try it in a small dishwasher). Fewer wash cycles seem to suggest that the default bare minimum of wash cycles set is insufficient to getting any job done and further suggesting that small dishwashers are poorly designed; you are still welcome to debate on that but trying avoiding coming off as a hypocrite with those older videos on your channel supporting countertop dishwashing machines.

My Farberware portable countertop dishwasher is on a cart and does not take up countertop space as it's filled manually at the top. (It is only 20 in by 20 in square so it can fir on a counter using up very little space. I lt can easily hold a 4 dishes place setting . I lpad mune with at least 3 cups and 2 glassware and over 12 cutlery plus alar least 2 small plastic containers because it is all I have. It only uses a little more than a half bucket of water per full wash cycle and on the cart it simply drains into a bucket on the floor. The quick cycle is all I've ever used which is 45 minutes with water temp equally to a fullsize. The unit is left open for dishes to air dry like if on a dish rack and dishes never have spotting. The unit was $100 brand new in original sealed box bought off Facebook Marketplace when the going retail rate was over $300. They are still findable in deals like this. The unit is quiet and once I used it a few times I figured out how to load it up and run within 5 minutes. The unit has a long regular cycle of 2 hours and a glassware cycle, fruit cycle and my favorite 45 min quick wash.
I simply scrape large food off , load , add detergent and hit quick wash and dishes are perfect every time.
If I have more than a sinkfull of dishes I just take out the clean dishes and add another load to wash. My best kitchen investment was purchasing my Farberware portable dishwasher.
P.S. it can be used in and r/v or any other space as it is completely portable. Yay!!

Dishes literally can't grow mold unless they are covered in food! So that is one of the lies this channel has said in this video.
Also, it is extremely clear that the creator of this channel has NO experience with countertop or portable dishwashers(which are completely separate kinds of dishwashers!). Infact they have no real experience with ANY product they talk about on their channel!

None of these portable countertop dishwashers ever show greasy pots and pans.. do they just not fit?
And I have standard plate sizes, so the 9-10 max means I'd have to buy new dishes.
I'm interested in using a faucet hose rather than manually pouring 5L.. and that the water can get hot 212F!
But for such few plates and silverwear I wonder how much water is used versus washing by hand. For example, ignoring the electricity cost, twenty minutes of hand washing dishes versus an hour with the dishwasher?
Would love to see the difference between COMFEE models (ex. CDC17P0ABB vs CDC22P1BBB).. or to other models in the same price range

"On the PLUS side, when the dishes are not completely dry, they can develop mold and bacteria which can cause food poisoning"????? Why is this a plus? This is an odd video.

  • @doloresleyva8810
    @doloresleyva8810 หลายเดือนก่อน

This is a total lie. I have a Farberware countertop fillable dishwasher that can be filled manually at the top or hooks up at the sink. It easily holds a sink full of dishes including flatware
The quickest cycle is only 45 minutes which cleans all dishes perfectly. It only uses a little over a half bucket of water and heats up equally to a fullsize dishwasher. The unit does not dry dishes but it can be left open for a little while after the wash and dishes air dry with no spots ever. I paid $100 for mine off of Facebook market place brand new in a sealed box when the going price was over $300.
The dishwasher cannot fit pot and pans but that is no big deal as I only need to wash a pot or pan per day. The unit uses any dishwasher detergent and only a small amount is needed for a sparkling clean wash. I have the unit on a cart in my kitchen and it fulls manyally then it drains into a bucket on the floor so it does not take up counter space at all and is completely portable.
I strongly disagree with this video as my Farberware dishwasher debunks all these claims. Shame on the creator for not doing their homework before bashing portable dishwashers.

Anyone who is considering purchasing one will more likely than not consider the pros and cons and will see the mention of how small they are so a famly of eight will not want to get a counter top dishwasher. Single folks though will definitely want to get a counter top dish washer. She's either a family of eight or doesn't do the dishes.

True everything is true , but I can say counter top dishwasher are helpful especially if you always on the go and don’t have much time to do the dishes. Also
if you always have dishes piling up and want to get the dishes washed in less time maybe so you can focus on other task while the machine washes it helps . But that’s about it you may still find yourself washing off a dish or two because the machine doesn’t clean all them perfectly which is a bad thing often they don’t drain well leaving you to pour water out the base from the opening window . I say pick you price and make it worth your bucks because there no perfect counter top or build in dishwasher. Dishes always are 100% cleaned when done by hand.

Now if im gonna say my opinion about each part, then let me tell you...
Limited capacity? Thats literally what im expecting when getting countertop, like why would you put normal size dishwasher on a table?
I have small kitchen, yes. But i cant get normal size dishwasher as i literally have no space for it to go. The only place that is free is on the counter.
About the poor drying, it may differ from model to model, but as far as ive seen people reviewing some, they do not have poor drying.
The less wash cycle part, thats literally nonsense. Yes, it wont handle bigger objects, which admitedly is gonna be problem for me, but only with pots and pans, which i can manage. The less water/detergent=worse performance is bull, as it is small, it has smaller capacity, therefore it doesnt need much water and especially much detergent, since you have less things to wash. Its like loading your 5kg washing machine and putting amount of detergent of like 10kg washing machine.
Fever features? Yes, it might bother some people, but i just want to put my dishes in and let it wash and dry. I dont need it to have wifi, bluetooth and other things. Also the less features=less durable and less long lasting is bull. Its well known that less features, less things to go wrong. It actually depends on how well its built and how you operate it (especially that).
My conclusion: If you are single person that most importantly are limited with the space (like you could not fit full sized dishwasher anywhere), then the countertop will be your friend. On the other hand, if you have space, and most importantly have bigger family, or just more dishes that you can ´´spent´´, then its good to have normal sized dishwasher. Yes, even the countertop can be good appliance for a family, but it will run more frequently, which will make it to break faster (nothing lasts forever).

My portable dishwasher loads water through the top and is on a small cart in my small kitchen so uses no counter space. It works exactly as a fullsize and I can fit a sink full of dishes including cutlery. It washes in 45 minutes and uses only about a little more than a bucket of water for a full clean wash. It drains into a bucket on the floor.
I have never had dirty dishes come out and they are always sparkling clean. I leave it open for air dry and no spots ever
If I have more dishes I simply start another load . 4 years and no issue with my unit. It is a great machine and is a Farberware brand.
