This is actually faster than washing my own dishes because it takes me about 3 hours to mentally prepare myself to take on the task. I also live in an apartment with a small kitchen so it makes sense to invest on one of these for me.
I live in a small apt too and I just LOVE mine bc my dirty dishes have a place to go into and its so much easier to keep my countertop clean. I dont spend my Saturday mornings deep cleaning my kitchen anymore and its so nice to just push a button instead of rolling my sleeves up and organize the dishes for the next 15 mins while I finally wash them.
@@amaniiexxchnge I found a used on on marketplace and I wasnt even looking for one. Even when it was dropped off, I was kind of laughing about it. Best game changer, best buy, im so surprised just how much I love mine.
Hahahah I can relate. Sometimes even 6 hours because I start and then realize how insanely greasy the pots and pans are. *More time to soak and back to laying in bed*
Now I just want a regular dishwasher with a clear door that I can see inside while it is washing. Kind of neat to be able to see inside while the dishwasher is running.
Seems like another pro to the countertop model is there's no bending down to load and unload it, unlike an under the counter model which has you bending down to almost the floor to load/unload the machine.
There is no reason not to mount your regular washer on the countertop level, just like the oven. I've seen kitchens arranged this way before. I mean no one mounts their ovens on ground floor anymore, right?
After having to wash every dish by hand for almost 5 years I’d say that the countertop dishwasher is one of the absolute best investments (other than my countertop ice maker) I’ve made for my house yet.
As an apartment renter, I don't have enough space nor can I modify our apartment to accommodate a full size dishwasher, so my countertop dishwasher is a godsend. Fits perfectly in the corner and cleans even the messiest dishes really well. They're great for people who can't have a full sized dishwasher installed.
@@NoMore12345-z Don't know. I only have a dishwasher, not a washing machine. But if you meant to ask about dishwashers with water tanks, I believe they do make those.
We have one and love it. We have a small house (900sqft and 6 ppl) and this is a life saver with 3 kids. We bought it second hand for 75$ and plumbed in a second faucet for it so we can leave it connected and still use the other water in the kitchen sink
@@ericmendenhall2867 sometimes we run ours 4 or 5x a day but with 3 kids it saves me time. I love it. We have learned how to load it and stack and pack it. We dont have this exact model as ours is about 9 years old but I love it. We even run baby bottles and crusty sippy cups in it and they come out perfect. I have found I have to just throw the soap on the bottom and not in the soap tray but once you master the learning curve it's perfect. Now we wash our pots and pans by hand as they are the blue diamond ones and we are super protective of them haha but my crappy stainless pots we have put in there and they also come out perfect. I would much rather just load and unload this 4 or 5x a day vs spending hours washing dishes.
@@Cklei89 Oh ok great. Thanks for letting me know. I was just genuinely curious and sorry uf it sounded like i was judging. I am glad you get so much use out of this and takes a lot of stress out.
@@Cklei89 Thsnks for answering thoroughly. I’m curious. Does the noise of it running 4 to 5 times a day bother you? And also, if you just put the dishes in a sink of soapy water, wouldn’t they clean themselves fast? I got the Corelle dishes and bowls recently and everything comes off so easily and since they’re so thin you can fit a bunch in the sink. Curious how much time this saves compared to that. Thank you.
Not sure why I have never heard of a counter top dishwasher but for a single guy with one kid and a ton of back problems to the point I can’t do 10min of dishes this might be an option!
If you have any way of getting a fullsize dishwasher (even if you have to wheel it to the sink and connect a hose to the faucet), they're much better. But if you have absolutely no way, then a countertop dishwasher is better than nothing. Get the largest model you can find and make sure it heats the water after it's pumped in. Some don't.
Dude same.. I can't stand up for that long hunched over a sink.. like if my counter was a foot taller I may be able to.. but my apartment is tiny and I live alone. Already have one of these on the way
I would never give up my full size dishwasher in my current kitchen, but yeah I can see this for people with back problems, or a small apartment, but where this really would be impressive would be a renovated RV/travel trailer, with it plumbed into the gray, and fresh water lines with a shelf built under the sink area to keep it out of the way.
@@rantsandreviews Dishwashers that heat the water sterilize the dishes better than you can wash them by hand and use less water. Less use of the water heater to wash dishes also saves electricity. You do no one no favors by washing them by hand, it's not more moral or holy than using a machine.
For anyone with a dishwasher of any kind, please don’t forget to spin the spray arms before starting it to make sure they aren’t blocked by anything, especially the upper rack spray arm. Otherwise you won’t get a good wash!
So to be super honest i did not think of people in your situation. I just thought 69 minutes to wash and 60 minutes to dry makes it easier to just do it by hand. In your and other people situations this is indeed a good solution.
@@Wensela A countertop dishwasher is a lifesaver for neurodivergent people too. I've got ADHD, and throwing up in my mouth a little when touching wet food, even with gloves on, is not unheard of
Yes, but not all of them... especially countertop models. MAKE SURE the one you buy has a water heater that heats up the water. It' cleans the food off much better and sanitizes.
its also important for cleaning, no melted sugar or fat will go soft in a temperature you can handle. everyone that handwashed plates with butter on it should know the hustle. ^_^
@@thomasherzog86 to be honest, if it doesn’t wash off in 30 seconds to a minute, i soak it with dawn soap while i do the rest of the non greasy dishes. works like a charm.
@@crankthatrebecca12 and then ur having a soap butter sludge on your brush or in the sink. ^_^ but seriously - soaking might work with fat, but not with stuff like caramel or toffee, at least not fast like heat does. im not saying its impossible to live without a dishwasher, but it has its benefits.
@@thomasherzog86 having a dishwasher uses less water and electricity, gets them cleaner, and as far as I can tell from those factors makes them more moral than handwashing.
I’m glad you did this one. I have a friend in a wheelchair and his wife has a bad hip so she can’t stand for long. Something like this would be good for them since it’s the 2 of them
I think this will be great for me. I live alone and don’t have a lot of dishes that I use all at once. But I have horrible depression which makes it hard for me to have the energy or want to wash my dishes. I’ve gone months before without washing my dishes and ended up throwing them away because of it. I think I’m going to invest in this! Thank you for the video!!
I'm in the same situation as you, but that's why I have my full size dishwasher for when I go a while without doing dishes, I have all that room to take care of it.
I thought it just happens to me! I totally understand what you mean. My kitchen is to small to have a regular countertop dishwasher. I'm thinking about to invest in one too. Sending you good thoughts ❤❤❤. Take care and I hope you feel better.
I have a little one, single Mama and I was really really struggling to manage everything with cleaning, cooking and making sure the little one was stimulated mentally, physically & emotionally and I have to admit after I got the countertop dishwasher it has made a huge huge difference it helps me more then I can say so I would highly recommend it to any single Mother that might need a bit of help ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Same...but my soon to be ex- keeps coming for dinner, lol. Have decided we need to use paper plates when he comes over because otherwise too many dishes for the little dishwasher or me to handle.
I’m not him but I have a panda compact washer and a panda tumble dryer meant for RV’s and standard power outlets. They’re 10/10. I put them on coasters with wheels, and now I can do my laundry at home, plus I can soak my clothes which is great for bedding, basically cut your load into half and it’s the exact same machine.
I would have killed for this when I worked so much and was single. And I would have just opened the door and let the steam into my dry apartment and let them air dry.
I like this idea mainly because the water gets hotter than I could put my hands in. Since I’m a single person, I don’t need a full sized dishwasher. And I never ran mine through the dry cycle; just open the door and they dry just fine.
Really good review! You're right, that someone could easily hand-wash their dishes in about 15 minutes or so -- that's my situation. But I hate, hate, hate, loathe, despise, cannot stand washing dishes. Even if it's just 15 minutes a day. Plus, I can't help but think that I'm wasting water by hand-washing dishes -- we're in a drought here in CA, so water conservation is extremely important. That makes a countertop dishwasher is an excellent choice! Loved the "unfair" test -- I was really impressed with this tiny dishwasher's performance. Thank you!
Thank you for this review. I didn't even know they had such a thing. My wife and I live in an apartment for people with disabilities and they don't allow us to have dishwashers that go under the kitchen counter. We don't have much room for one either. This will help us out a lot.
I wasn't allowed a portable washing machine in my apartment building but I got one anyway. It fit in a closet if they needed to do an inspection. Their quarter operated machines were always busy at night and on weekends.
@@adde9506 Because they're cheap. Our laundry room has washers and dryers that break down once a week. To wash 1 load of clothes it's $1.75 and to dry 1 load it's $1.50. It usually takes 2 or some times 3 cycles to dry clothes.
I seriously went “ooh” and clicking on a video about countertop dishwashers. I’m either just a big fan of the channel or just getting old... ...both, probably both.
Check out Techmoan. He also did one, though he's UK based, so it's a different brand and model that probably isn't available in NA. It's a faster working washer than this one though, which is appealing.
@@ThatSoddingGamer The Techmoan video is the first thing I thought of when I saw this video. Spoiler alert: his worked well too. Alec on Technology Connections also did a video about how dishwashers work. So now I have watched 3 videos about dishwashers in the past month.😂
I've had to wash my dishes by hand for over 3 years, and I am in the market for a countertop dishwasher. I really appreciated this thorough review! Whether I get this model or not, you've helped me think through a lot of the aspects I'll need to consider! Your plates are massive compared to mine (thin correlle dishes) and it's just me in the apartment so I don't have many dishes to begin with. But dishes always seems to be the chore I hate the most and I think this would really improve my mental health to have a clean sink easily. I could set this to run when I go to bed with just that day's dishes and have no problem with a smaller amount of dish space. I just don't want to put it through the washer and then still have to wash it by hand if it came out not fully clean. I also really appreciate the high temperature because it can sanitize my dishes better than I can by hand. Thanks for this thorough review! The "unfair test" was particularly helpful!
You really did effort for the 'unfair' test, but that's really usefull to see it's performance on dishes you might have forgotten to rinse. Thanks for the effort!
@@teshiburu that depends entirely on you. If you use dishwasher pods, you are trading cleaning power for "convenience". I say that in quotations because I really don't know how a pod is more convenient. Anyways, the 2 biggest factors of getting a good clean from your dishwasher is running your water until it's hot before using the machine to ensure a hot pre wash. The second is making sure you put soap on your pre wash chamber. The enzymes in your soap need time to work, that's why they need to be in the pre wash. When you use pods, you don't get the enzymes in the pre wash you need.
@@teshiburu yeah they do heat themselves but it isn't very good at the beginning, where the pre wash is at. Takes a bit to warm up and I see no issue with running the water until it gets hot lol. Running ice cold water into the machine isn't as good as running hot water into it
Jake B * I looked on Amazon at the product description and it states that the baby mode is only 19 minutes. It would be great if this cycle could get the dishes as clean as using the full cycle.😉
If you go to the Amazon link in his description for the dishwasher. It’s a video showing how the dishwasher works and it shows how it washes the fruit too.
I've never owned a dishwasher &, as a hard working nurse, I really needed one. After this video first came out, I bought a counter dishwasher & it's a godsend! Thanks for your very helpful & fun reviews!!
Can't believe I've just watched a full video comparing dishwashers, and actually got excited and said "wow" when the final dish came out clean 😂 the company hopefully paid you for this as I'll now probably be buying one. Great video!
Definitely impressive! I was worried at first because your "dirty dishes" were something my son would have looked at and said "clean enough" and used, lol! Then as always, you came through with the real dirty dishes. I did not think it would clean them, so I was pretty impressed. Thanks for always putting these products through real life testing!
Hi James, I was so happy to see this review. I bought this exact model about a month ago (my tiny kitchen is too small for a dishwasher) and I absolutely LOVE IT! It is a life saver for someone like me, who deals with chronic illness. Thanks for the review!
lol, guess I'm not the only one who enjoys watching the reviews _after_ I purchase the product. It's like I get to have a conversation about my new gadget with others who understand. 😄
@Dave Iaucco yeah hence the reason I don’t own a dishwasher. What real purpose do they serve? Fill sink with hottest water, add good quality soap like Dawn, let soak for 20 minutes then wash by hand. I probably spend 5 minutes actually hand washing the sink load, the soaking in hot water does the rest. The key is rinsing a dish off right after it’s used...especially tall glasses.
Great demo! I bought this baby a few weeks ago and love it! The "useless" shelf can be used for shot glasses, but I use it for knives and whisks. You can avoid water spillage (when filling the tank) by using a funnel. I had on hand a funnel that I bought off Amazon some time back. Works perfectly! Also - I've only use the ECO cycle and it works great. Still uses all 3 carafes of water, but not as much power since it runs in half the time (30 min). This appliance is suitable for a household of 1 or 2.
Yes, the flip down shelf is good for small fruit bowls/ramekins and cooking utensils like spatulas. I’ll admit this performed far better than I’d expected!
I’ve been thinking that, if I got a dishwasher like this, I would only use the quick/eco cycle because I always rinse my dishes when I’m finished using them. However, I’ve been researching these small countertop dishwashers and apparently, the quick/eco cycles run with the water at a lower temperature, which may not sanitize the dishes adequately. It also might not get hot enough to allow the dishes to air dry with the door popped open at the end of the cycle. So it may be better to use a longer cycle.
I really appreciate that you ran it with some of the hardest things to wash off, dried egg yolk and dried oatmeal. The 2 main things I have to soak forever before washing.
Dude, it's insane how time flew by. I've been watching you for nearly 3 years now, and no matter what mood I'm in, your videos have been the only thing that I've consistently tuned in to. You're the only one out of two or three creators whose content I keep up with, whose videos I've never skipped even once. Your content is pretty much my therapy, as weird as it sounds. Keep it up, my guy! I'm excited for what the future has in store for Freakin Reviews. Rock on! 🤟
That last test was the best one. Comparing to the big dishwasher might have been unfair but applying the "fake" dirt and grime really helped me see this is a good product. Some of the dirty items in the earlier part of the video seemed pretty clean, and I don't know what they were contaminated with. Wish you did the synthetic dirtying with the silverware too.
Yeah. May take less time to wash that amount of dishes by hand, but some people have difficulty standing at a sink washing them. Even after a few dishes my back is killing me. Also takes far less time to start the machine, walk away and have clean dry dishes than it will to stand there and do it all by hand.
Because this dishwasher probably won’t be able to wash pots/pans while also washing cutlery/plates, if you guys haven’t heard of a sponge where you put dishwashing liquid in the handle, it cuts washing time in eighths for me after soaking the pot in water while I eat. Definitely recommend.
While it may take less time to wash dishes by hand, it normally uses a lot more water. Also, your water tank has to keep the water warm all the time, whereas the countertop version works more like an instantaneous water heater. You give the most honest and thorough reviews I've found. Thank you for helping me decide what countertop dishwasher I'll go with for my tiny apartment.
I've had this exact dishwasher for about a year and I love it. I live alone and work an insane amount so I don't create tons of dishes, but it is so helpful and works great. I removed the top shelf because it's not very functional and mostly just gets in the way. The water gets nice and hot and everything comes out spotless. Great buy for me personally.

@@snylah-mariebrandt329 I'll do my best to answer your questions, but I'm afraid I don't understand most of them. It has a small lid to cover the hole where you fill it. You can remove the lower tray and filter for cleaning. I think you can remove the spray arms too. I'm sure you can find longer hose attachments at a hardware store, but I'm not sure. The blue light only stays on for a minute or so, then it turns off. Most pots and pans will not fit unless it's the only thing in the dishwasher. I usually load the dishwasher with my silverware, cups, bowls, and smaller things. I wash pots and pans by hand. Hope this helps!
Okay but as a kid, clearly I wasn't the only one who tried many times to yank the dishwasher open quickly to get a glimpse of it running. I'm so into this freaking thing solely for the design choice of a window/door. It satisfies all that childhood curiosity perfectly.
Having a detergent pod fall in when the door closes is more or less the same as the powdered detergent falling in. Powder is cheaper, but less convenient. This unit seems ideal for a single person, and maybe also for empty nesters. It probably consumes a lot less energy and water than a standard washer, and allows for more frequent washing if the number of dishes in the cupboard are limited. Using a tank also limits potential for water damage from leaks. Did you try the fruit wash feature? That seemed interesting.
I've had a countertop dishwasher for 8 years now and I can honestly say it's changed my life. I live in a small house (620 sq ft.) and certainly don't have much counter space. An ex introduced me to one of these. Mine is from Supentown and holds a 6 piece place setting. I like to bake, so it sure has made life A LOT easier! Thanks very much for posting!!
I've had an older one of these for few years. This makes me want to upgrade as this seems to work way better and takes less time. I don't have dishwasher hook ups in my small place. This is really nice on the occassion when I have some people over for dinner but otherwise I just handwash my dishes.
I’m in an apartment, and this made me so excited. I have one large sink...so I can wash but it’s hard to rinse and dry without awkwardly getting water everywhere. I’m going to look into this, at least to dry. Thank you for this!
I went from living in a house with a dishwasher and getting spoiled by it to moving into my own apartment that doesn't have a dishwasher. I bought this very model after doing a bit of research. It was delivered today and I wasted no time getting it set up because I loathe having to do a lot of dishes, especially silverware. Everything came out squeaky clean and it is absolutely worth every penny. I loaded it with a coffee mug, two drinking glasses, a medium sized plate, two cat food dishes, the lid to a medium-sized pot, a steamer/strainer, and several utensils. It still had room to spare!
@@sugoish9461 it was until I clogged it with ground lentils (didn't rinse the food processor cannister enough) and ruined the motor in the process last year. I'm now in a new apartment that came with its own installed dishwasher. I can't bear to throw the portable one away, though. I may try to find a small appliance repair shop to see if they can fix it. It still works, but the spray fans no longer turn.
I've been debating getting one of these (this exact model actually!) since I live in a smallish place ( great landlord and yearly rent cheaper than property taxes). Seeing a side by side testing comparison with the "unfair" test gave me great info. A little heads up on the "mug " rack and small utensil holes. I had something similar to one of these when I lived in Japan I used the rack for rice paddles and rice bowls and the small utensil slots for chopsticks.
I bought an edgestar brand on amazon. It's basically about the size of the top rack of my installed dishwasher in my kitchen. But it's large enough to take 6 place settings including full sized 10 inch dinner plates. As long as you stick to a liquid or gel detergent these work very nicely. I take mine when I stay at extended stay hotels for more than two or three nights. Along with a toaster oven and an instant pot it's like having a full service travel kitchen anytime you need one. In fact I can save money on extended stays away from home because with those three appliances, I really only need a fridge in my hotel room, instead of paying extra for a "kitchenette".
I'm a millennial and I'm scared that I actually got excited how clean the dishes came out on the last test. Why is this channel so entertaining to me?🤯
@@Nenezilla the way he worded it I think everyone understood what he meant. Also... I dont think I have ever heard anyone that is a couple referred to as a family. Not once, even though technically it may be accurate

I got one from Aldi for 199€ and is great for me and my husband, I fill the tank with a jar provided by the dishwasher, I put the hose in a bucket and I mop the floor with that water, it's a win for me indeed. Also the cycle I use is the 30 minutes and is more than enough.
I've owned a countertop dishwasher for a couple year because my apartment didn't have a place for a regular one, but lots of counter space. It's amazing and hooks right up to my sink. So much cheaper than a standard dishwasher and perfect for just 2 people.
When I lived in an apartment we had a countertop dishwasher for years. It's an awesome option to have if a full-size unit isn't an option. Mine had a hose that connected to the faucet so it just filled on its own. I loved it.
Wow perfect timing! I just bought this exact brand! Glad to see I made a good choice. My apartment doesn’t have a full sized dishwasher and I can’t really do dishes because it makes the eczema on my hands go crazy. Plus dishes are just cleaner when put through an actual wash and it uses less water. I’m super excited for it to arrive on Wednesday!
I've had a countertop Edgestar dish washer for about 5 years now because my kitchen doesn't have space or hookup for a full size unit. I love it. It cleans pretty much everything, has lasted a long time, and hooks up to my sink with an adapter that screwed onto my faucet. Just pop the hose on when I want to run it. And it fits quite a lot of dishes at one time.
As a renter who has been hand washing dishes for years. I definitely am going to buy a countertop dish washer now. Either this model or what3ver I can find depending on price. Love the dry mode on this as well. Great video mate!
I can see purchasing one of these to use in my camp trailer. I loathe washing dishes when I am using my camper so an appliance like this would be perfect! Thank-you for the review, James.👍👍
As a mom of 2 young kids. This has changed my life... we can’t put a dishwasher in our home we have tried it just isn’t gonna happen... so I got this exact one and it has changed my life so much!!! I can’t say enough good things about it. Also it has cut the water cost dramatically!
Freakin’ Reviews Guy, based on the strength of your recommendation, I purchased this price inflated item! And it is worth every penny! Old caked on applesauce, ketchup, BBQ, soup remnants, coffee and hot chocolate at left at the bottom of the cup…this machine broke all of it down and flushed it out. It does a shockingly great job, thanks for reviewing this!
Jimmy, as a longtime viewer, I have to say that this is one of your best comparisons yet. As a medical researcher, I love finding flaws in your by tests (it's part of my job), but this was flawless. In fact, Consumer Reports couldn't have done better. Happy Holidays and have a safe and healthy New Year!
I was thinking this myself, and no it does not need to be on top of the counter, you could build a shelf under the sink, and add a GFCI outlet and plumb it right into the fresh, and gray water lines to make it look very nice, and out of the way, just use eco friendly dishwasher gel to not mess up the pipes.
I actually live in an RV full time and I have a countertop dishwasher. I love it. Mine is bigger than this one. I actually can wash some of my pots and pans in it too.
I'm really glad you made this video, I didn't know that a dishwasher without plumbing was an option until watching this review. I did some research and found a variant in my country and have since bought one. It's a real life changer.
I've seen people here in the city have these. Not all apartments have a dishwasher that comes with the unit, especially older apartments. I got lucky in mine, but I saw a few folks who have this exact thing and LOVE it. It's ideal if you're living by yourself or with another person. I don't think its ideal for families as there will be a lot more dishes to clean. But as a device for city dwellers, its top notch.
Thanks for the thorough review & comparison. We're buying one for our camper. My wife's only complaint about camping is having to hand-wash the dishes. Now we'll be able to load it up and walk to the pool..
I've had a counter-top dishwasher for many years in my Airstream 19ft camper. ❤❤❤ it to the max! Mine is a DARBY and has a top rack for cups and smaller items. It has saved me countless hours away from kitchen chores... to enjoy other outdoors activities. My model also has Power Dry for faster drying and also a Santi Hot setting to sanitizing your dishes. Works flawlessly and a joy to use!
I've got one of these and it's one of my best buys ever.i just load it during the day and let it run overnight.one drawback is you have to be careful how you load it up to make the best use of the limited space.the cleaning is just as good as a full size dishwasher. eventually you find the best way for you and it will only take a few mins to load up and fill with water.
we have a sink hookup unit in my apartment, and honestly... well worth every penny, sure you may end up doing some extra loads due to its smaller size, but man does it beat washing by hand EASILY
The shelf can be used for shot glasses, espresso glasses, old fashioned glasses, tea cups. The smaller slots in the silverware caddy can be used for straws for sure. Thanks for this review, I think I’m gonna get one of these. Your point about being able to hand wash more dishes faster is accurate, but a lot of people have a hard time washing dishes. Executive dysfunction, depression, sensory issues, etc.
Thank you for reviewing this dish washer. I was wondering if they work well and it also exceed my expectations. This unit works great for a single person on the go. That is why not too many dishes fit in. Love the review.
For a household of one or two, I think it would be awesome!! It does take up quite a bit of counter space. seems like you would be really limited on where you could put it depending on the length of the drainage hose. Overall I think it's pretty cool!! And the price really isn't all that bad
I keep all my large appliances on a tall shelf, so when my dishwasher arrives I think I might put it on there too, but with some jug or bucket underneath to collect the drain water so I can just dump it in my sink in between loads.
I have a cookology one and I have to say it’s the best investment I ever made. Mine doesn’t have a cutlery basket, the silverware goes on that top mini shelf. I have a 30 minute eco cycle, a 1 hour full cycle, baby items, and a fruit wash cycle. Drying is part of the cycle, not separate like yours. I live alone with 4 cats so the capacity is no problem for me, but some things like big saucepans, frying pan etc, won’t fit. I have 28cm dinner plates which will fit if I set them at an angle. On mine, the door and display is designed differently but I love it.
Thank you for doing this review of this Item. I live in an RV and work 9 hours a day 6 days a week. I'm either too tired at the end of the day to do dishes or they pile up and it takes most of my day off to wash dishes in parts so they can all dry. I've been looking at these countertop dishwashers and the Novete was high on the list. The unfair test helped me solidify my decision.
Blessings from Brooklyn, whoa! I really loved this demonstration of the counter top dish washer. You proved that the make and model of this brand proformed excellently. But the big test was when you compared it to your main dishwasher? Wow! It past with flying colors. Great job.👍
For small kitchens with very little counter space, try putting a cutting board (plastic or wood) over the sink. Then only drawback is removing the dishwasher to a shelf when done.
I just placed mine beside the sink next to the fridge and when I needed to wash dishes jut threw the hose in the sink filled it up with water and let it run.
Our kitchen doesn't have hookups for a full size dishwasher, but we are saving for one. In the meantime, my husband bought me the Novete countertop dishwasher. Like you, I think it works very well, since it is just the two of us. I wash the pots as soon as I am done using them, and put the plates, glasses, coffee cups, and silverware in the dishwasher and set it before I go to bed. Even though our bedroom is only about 11 feet away from the dishwasher, even with the bedroom door open I can fall asleep because it is so quiet. I can fit 2-3 coffee cups on that little shelf, but not much else. I too had problems with pouring water into the top of the machine, but I rectified that by setting one of my canning funnels on top. The machine is pretty light considering the size, so until we can afford an electrician to install the hookups for the full size dishwasher in a few years, we are getting a pull out shelf installed into the space for the dishwasher and setting the Novete on the shelf with the drain hose feeding directly into the drain plumbing in my kitchen sink, and just fill it from the top like we have been doing. All in all, I like it and it does save me time in the kitchen since I can set it and go to bed.
Thank you, James, for doing this video!!! My husband and I may have to move into a home that has (seriously) no room for a dishwasher. The kitchen is so small that it doesn't have an oven!just a 4 burner stove top. So, I was wanting to see how these countertop dishwashers really work. Your 24 hour test showed me that a countertop is very comparable to a large model/traditional dishwasher! dishwasher
I got one of these, boy, do I love it! my house is tiny, I couldn't have a dishwasher otherwise. It works great. Thanks, your review really helped. I had to get a different brand, because this one was not for sale at the time, but it was pretty similar.
Single mom here with a toddler. Just bought this and setting it up tonight. Definitely sick of washing sippy cups and both of our plates cutlery and cups multiple times a day, I am soo excited for this. Also no longer have dishes piling up by the sink. 👏
So, The reason why these work well is because it's a normal dishwasher in a smaller size. As long as the water can heat up and water can move around. It will work. It also has to do with the type of detergent you use. I had a countertop dishwasher years ago and it worked great. On mine I used the faucet setup and came with 2 adapters. Worked great for 6 months but the problem with the hookups to faucets is they tend to strip after awhile. So it would leak where you would connect it. This type of setup seems like a better use. Also you can use the Pods in those. I just threw mine at the bottom in the middle and let it go. As long as it doesn't hit the blades you're fine.
The angle at which the plates reside is determined by the actual geometry of the plates. Flatter plates will lean back more. I'm sure someone already said this, but... BTW, you can get half-width dishwashers. They are usually around 18" and there are companies that can modify your existing cabinets to insert one of them.
I was going to comment that the lower rack tines were definitely slanted, and with a flat plate, would have resulted in a slanted plate. But his plates were curved (concaved?), which resulted in the plates being more vertical than he thought). When I moved in with my late wife (prior to marriage), her galley kitchen didn't have a dishwasher. I took one of her 36" base cabinets, cut it in half, reassembled that part, and made an opening for an 18" dishwasher. One of the best (and first) things I did to that house!
"Breathing Mobile Washer" would be GREAT for an "Alternative Clothes Washers Review" video. I've got one...basically the size of a toilet plunger but is a pretty powerful little manual clothes washer I'd be interested to see what you and the viewers think of it, too.
I think this will be perfect for a collage stundet living alone or just someone that just moved like young adults for example, it also can save some time for a collage student so they can pop the dishes in there while they do homework or stuff like that
Most dorms don't have a sink and have a communal kitchen. Most of my food at the time was leftovers from the eatery I worked at that served 1to 3 choices plates on a styrofoam plate container so I had no plates to wash or cook. But that was years ago maybe dorms have sinks now
I bought a unit similar to this myself a few months ago and I have no regrets. I live in a small place with very limited hot water, so having something I can fill with cold water from the tap frees up a lot of hot water every day. Depending on how many bowls I'm using, I find I can get a good few days' plates and cutlery in there as well as a few glasses and servingware. I still have to wash pans etc by hand, but I've been able to minimise the amount of things that need to be washed by hand.

They used to have them at Sears but they were specially made for store demos to show off the features.
Yeah they look cool but it uses more electricity
Look up the technology connections channel and watch their video on dishwasher pods.
Seems like another pro to the countertop model is there's no bending down to load and unload it, unlike an under the counter model which has you bending down to almost the floor to load/unload the machine.
Would be good for people with back problems and such.
@@antiisocial Exactly. Anyone with back and hip problems would benefit.
I like it. Similar to having the washer/dryer on the main floor of a house. Not having to carry wash down to the 1st floor or basement.
As a person with a bad back, I approve of this message.

Do they make washing machines with a tank instead of a hookup to sink?
@@NoMore12345-z Don't know. I only have a dishwasher, not a washing machine. But if you meant to ask about dishwashers with water tanks, I believe they do make those.

We have one and love it. We have a small house (900sqft and 6 ppl) and this is a life saver with 3 kids. We bought it second hand for 75$ and plumbed in a second faucet for it so we can leave it connected and still use the other water in the kitchen sink
Do you pretty much have to run it after every meal though? Seems like almost not enough room for dishes for 6 people
@@ericmendenhall2867 sometimes we run ours 4 or 5x a day but with 3 kids it saves me time.
Already have one of these on the way
I have more metal in my back than a Kia...LOL. If I wash more than just a few dishes by hand I use a stool. I would never buy one of these units.
I just really appreciate that it has a clear front, I have always wanted to watch the dishwasher going.
For anyone with a dishwasher of any kind, please don’t forget to spin the spray arms before starting it to make sure they aren’t blocked by anything, especially the upper rack spray arm. Otherwise you won’t get a good wash!

Honestly James puts his heart into doing reviews. You gotta respect a person like that
Really good review!
Why... why would they not *prefer* that you use dish washers?
@@adde9506 Because they're cheap. Our laundry room has washers and dryers that break down once a week. To wash 1 load of clothes it's $1.75 and to dry 1 load it's $1.50. It usually takes 2 or some times 3 cycles to dry clothes.

You shouldn't need to rinse dishes.... Normal dishwasher have a prewash cycle
@@GodleyX running the water only matters if you're dishwasher doesn't heat water itself most do (in the UK at least)
@@teshiburu yeah they do heat themselves but it isn't very good at the beginning, where the pre wash is at. Takes a bit to warm up and I see no issue with running the water until it gets hot lol. Running ice cold water into the machine isn't as good as running hot water into it

Only needs a quick rinse before going in, they clean better than you'd think
@@keff5984 eh don’t be lazy, just hand wash them. Much quicker and it saves the expense and maintenance of a dishwasher.
Short glasses like those short whiskey glasses?
I use the little shelf for that and also lids, dipping dishes, and turners/spatulas.

It’s better to put them both on the floor anyway, especially on the short cycle as it starts reacting with the water quicker

Right, i think these specific ones are designed for Japanese households. There are bigger ones that can accommodate more American sized serveware
How much did it cost?

This looks like a good item for places that have single folks or just a couple but not a family.
A couple are a family but I get what you're saying, for over 2 people.

I got one from Aldi for 199€ and is great for me and my husband, I fill the tank with a jar provided by the dishwasher, I put the hose in a bucket and I mop the floor with that water, it's a win for me indeed. Also the cycle I use is the 30 minutes and is more than enough.
You're mopping the floor with dirty water and food runoff from the dishwasher??? Ew.
I like in an RV and was debating on whether or not to get one of these. Thank you for doing this one! This will definitely help me decide better 🙂
This seems amazing for a college dorm/roommate situation. If it’s a small room and you would constantly be arguing over dishes this seems great
As a mom of 2 young kids. This has changed my life... we can’t put a dishwasher in our home we have tried it just isn’t gonna happen... so I got this exact one and it has changed my life so much!!! I can’t say enough good things about it. Also it has cut the water cost dramatically!
Thanks for letting us know about the water saving. I am going to be thinking about this seriously.
This would be great for an RV if it didn’t have one or a tiny house!
Purrfect RV Size! 😊👍😋

There, I said it, lol
Was not expecting the countertop dishwasher to perform that well on the last test. Amazing!
I'm actually very excited to see how this would work in my setting. Sure, handwashing dishes may be faster, but this is easier.

Only as seen on tv i´m subbed to for 1 reason, he goes the extra mile.
we have a sink hookup unit in my apartment, and honestly... well worth every penny, sure you may end up doing some extra loads due to its smaller size, but man does it beat washing by hand EASILY
4:58 you know some engineer is laughing so bad while making it take 69 min :D
Unfortunately, I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old. Laughed my butt off every time he set it for 69 minutes! I could never own this🤗
The shelf can be used for shot glasses, espresso glasses, old fashioned glasses, tea cups.
@@bostonrailfan2427 idk I got one and some smaller coffee cups do fit up there.
I have sensory issues washing dishes for sure.
@@thephilosopher5799 It’s literally a nightmare!!! Speaking of… I really need to get new dish gloves
Most people don’t know this, but you can actually put your weed in there
I am actually allergic to most hand dishwashing soap so sticking my hand and arms in soapy water makes me itchy.
I have one and yes, it works as good as any full dishwasher I ever owned, and in one case much better. Very happy with it.
Oh a Moody Blues dishwasher, nice James, it's the story in your eyes!
You can put the drain hose in a bucket , this is what I do since I lack counterspace
I don’t know why I’m watching this but I love it!
I bought this dishwasher and it's great. Thanks for reviewing it. I like the top and bottom wash.
Single mom here with a toddler. Just bought this and setting it up tonight. Definitely sick of washing sippy cups and both of our plates cutlery and cups multiple times a day, I am soo excited for this. Also no longer have dishes piling up by the sink. 👏
You just sold it to me. My children are a bit older at 6 and 9. But the evening dishes are really lowering ny mood.

@@jwhite4 That's quite amazing. And rather scary if you ask me. Good show.
"Breathing Mobile Washer" would be GREAT for an "Alternative Clothes Washers Review" video. I've got one...basically the size of a toilet plunger but is a pretty powerful little manual clothes washer I'd be interested to see what you and the viewers think of it, too.
I think this will be perfect for a collage stundet living alone or just someone that just moved like young adults for example, it also can save some time for a collage student so they can pop the dishes in there while they do homework or stuff like that
Thats assuming the college student uses dishes! 🤣 just kidding
Yes, homework ;)
Most dorms don't have a sink and have a communal kitchen. Most of my food at the time was leftovers from the eatery I worked at that served 1to 3 choices plates on a styrofoam plate container so I had no plates to wash or cook. But that was years ago maybe dorms have sinks now
Awesome review as usual, I liked the unfare test to see what it’s really made of.
The top shelf is ideal for large knives, tongs, spatulas...etc
my sister has one and honestly it is really helpful when you dont have a dishwasher!! im really tempted to get one ...
