This tutorial shows you how to enable the "Scan to Computer" on your HP Printer.
This is applicable to most of the All-In-One Printers that has network capability. Note that Scan to Computer is already enabled by default for USB connectivity.

Thank you very much! This 66 y/o DIYer learned something new today. Once again, TH-cam to the rescue. TH-cam has been a blessing many times over. From learning how to install a new shower diverter to learning how to unclog the drain in my bathroom sink when drain cleaner would not correct the problem. One time, a friend and I were driving around in a loaner car she had for the day, while her car was being worked on. We stopped for gas and could not figure out how to get the cover of the gas tank open. Again, I whipped out my phone and looked up the model of the loaner car on TH-cam. Ta-daa! We got it open and gassed up the car. I could go on for hours. Such a resource!

I did exactly what the instructions said and I'm still hearing the pop-up informing me that the :scan to computer is no ........." any suggestions to stop the pop-up
when i click my pc it does not take me to the pop up that you have. i think you skipped the part where we have to download HP's help assistant. but the HP printer tells me to go to my HP print software to set it up. I have HP Smart app yet I can't find that option. HP has the worst and most convoluted way of doing things for the most simple things.
I set this up when I first got the HP Multi Function printer (HP M426fdw) but got a few more pcs to set this up and looked up the instructions and no info on the 'scan to computer' shown. Only the Scan to usb, scan to network folder and scan to email. Thanks for uploading this video to speed up my deducing skills.

Hi, on my software it doesn't have the "manage scan to" under the SCAN section. It only says "scan a document". Something happened where I can no longer scan to my computer. It was working before and now on my printer it keeps saying "no computer found" when I hit scan then computer. I can scan from my software on my computer screen but not directly from the printer like I could before. Please help!

Thanks very Much ! - In some cases (like recently) Microsoft Updates can wreak havoc on you HP Printer software install - I downloaded and reinstalled the HP Printer software for my printer and it restored the HP Printer Assistant that had disappeared after the last Windows 10 update - Cheers!

Great advice except there in no icon on the desktop! Only the HP solution center which doesn't list my default printer
I see he didn't bother to respond. I have the same problem. You get it figured out? I need the info please.

I have a older printer and the software needs flash to run but since flash is dead what do i do?
The only option I have under Scan is "scan a document or photo" The manage scan to computer is not there. I have always been able to scan with no problem...then today it acts as if it's not connected. any advice?
I am with you on that one. I just scanned things last night and this morning, I get the message that scanner is not connected to computer. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. Oh and the printer works fine, it’s just the scanner

Helping a friend, HP8710 will not scan to the Desktop of his Windows 7 laptop. He used to be able to do this. He can scan to any other location except scan directly to his desktop. He can scan to a a location on his hard drive then copy that file to his desktop. When he tries to scan directly to his desktop he gets a "you don't have administrator privileges" If he right clicks the SCAN icon and chooses Run as Administrator he can then scan to his desktop. How can he make the Run as Administrator permanent?
HP ENVY 7640 not recognizing macOS Venture 13.0.1 The new HP Smart app does not show any drivers for this printer so that the SCAN-TO-Computer works.

Our 8710 hp office jet will not scan. Please help. It gets fixed, does a job, and refuses to do another job. Keep getting a notice the pin is wrong, but not!

I agree. I also don't have this option. My scanner used to work fine, but now it's no longer recognised. So frustrating! I completely reinstalled, which fixed things for awhile, but as soon as I have a Microsoft update, this goes again. So annoying!

Help anyone. I don't have an HP printer (Brother) but HP PC. I got a pop up for this scan doctor - very confusing. I can't even find it anywhere to delete it. Does the HP PC need it?
i wish there is a solution for Mac user, since Big Sur, HP hasn't release HP Utility for Scan to Computer to enable, I've searched online for hours and even hours speaking to HP Support, but nobody knows how. so annoying.
Unfortunately, doesn't seem to work for Windows 11/64

You did not go through the process. I scanned on the printer, chose the correct computer for it to dump to and found nothing and no idea of how to find the scanned document on my laptop that I choice to 'scan to'.

Thank you the feedback. When the scanning is completed, the file will "pop up" and get "selected" in the File Explorer on your computer. Else, look under the "Documents" folder if you are scanning a document (Save as PDF) or "Pictures" folder if you are scanning a Photo (Save as JPEG).
It could also be under some default folder that was set (on the Scan Software) as shown in this other video (@time 4:20) :
