Shimmer is basically like that magical pond story, the shimmer thinks you "accidentally" dropped your item/person in the pond and they give you a "new" and "better" version. It's pretty dark if you think about it. Like we actually lose the original npcs and get "new" "better" versions of them.
I like the angel statue upgrade, the thing has earned its purpose, my favorite npc shimmered is party girl, princess, pirate, wizard, stylist, demolitionist, merchant, they look awesome!
Damn, the Mechanic really is the Tinkerer's girlfriend, she turned into a goblin like that scene on Shrek where Fiona turns into an ogre when kissing Shrek
Small correction, throwing in ores does not transform them into their counterparts. It actually transforms them into the tier below that ore so Luminite into Chlorophyte into Titanium into Adamantite all the way down to Copper. If you want to get alternate ores you can actually use the new Chlorophyte Extractonator! :)

1:05 “lacking Strength and solidity” so basically this expands the gap between atoms turning solids to gas or rearranging the order of them to make something new 2:34 so the velocity (“the speed of something in a given direction”) compresses (heats up) the liquid it changes it from liquid to solid. (non Newtonian fluid) 10:06 so, ores are natural you find them in the ground. What element is in ALL natural things rock, dirt, food, animals (includes us humans) carbon so the shimmer breaks down and reorganises the atoms in these ores but some of that carbon is lost. How? Well carbon can be solid gas or liquid (coal is pure carbon, we breathe out carbon we also have carbon in our fizzy drinks it what makes them fizz and it can exist in gas when put under INCREDIBLE pressure, heat. So when putting these ores into contact with the shimmer the heat is breaking down the elements heating up the solid carbon to gas or liquid meaning there’s less SOLID atoms to build with so it makes an ore with less in it therefore we get the ores being changed.

My first experience with Shimmer Liquid was when I threw 30 Chlorophyte ore to turn them into 30 Titanium ore, so I can craft the Titanium Forge. (I did not break Demon Altars in that world, because I do not want the Corruption and Hallow to spread faster, so I do not have access to Hardmode ores, other than to fish for Hardmode crates, but I did not fish for enough Titanium crates, so no Adamantite or Titanium for me on that world.)
@@finlandfromtheswedishempir78 What he is saying is that when you smash an evil altar, the chance of a non-infected block (like a stone block) to turn into an evil or hallowed version is no longer possible, as it was removed in the 1.4.4 update.
Since your world has already been generated, no new biome will be patched over the existing terrain, however you can craft the bucket and make an artificial biome of it yourself post-ML! Or just… make a new world and use that pool, one of the two.

Shimmer spawns on world generation, so old worlds won’t have an Aether biome since, uh, it never generated. You can either make a bottomless shimmer bucket or generate a new world and try to find the biome there.

No really dark at all in the terraria world. The npcs die and are replaced by someone else the next day and nobody bats an eye.
Something you missed is that throwing a Sparkle Slime Balloon into the Shimmer is how you get the Rainbow Town Slime!

Pro Tip for the Shimmer Liquid:
You can throw any craftable weapons or tools in the shimmer and recraft them again ( It's about the reforge )
Simplified: Throwing items into shimmer reverts it, like an iron bar turning into 4 iron ore.
Crafting can give reforges.

I think they are just meant to be the original sprites for stuff. Since most of the art for blocks has been updated overtime.

Shimmer spawns on world generation, so old worlds won’t have an Aether biome since, uh, it never generated.
You can either make a bottomless shimmer bucket or generate a new world and try to find the biome there.
