    You must have ordered from Amazon? They sell rebuild kits labelled for 98 to 2001 Yamaha Grizzly 600 but they are actually for the Chinese knockoff carbs made for the Grizz 660. One look at bowl gasket will tell you which one to order. Get the one for "original OEM".

    Got the same ATV ! With the same darn problem... I also had gas in my crankcase... And almost every darn screw was rusted... This ATV was mostly used for beach rides... Can't wait to finish fixing it ! Damn parts take forever to get to Canada ! Nice helpful video bro ! Thank you !

    They're NOT Philips screws they are JIS screws!!

    You're stripping the screw heads because you're using a phillips screwdiver on JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screw heads. They aren't the same.

    I have a 99.If you don't pull start it just right.yank the starter until its past the compression stroke....THEN PULL....it will pull your arm out of socket.These also have a lot of valve train noise....that my dealer says is normal.

    Use an impact driver on the screws that seem too tight...works everytime

      Just watch any utube.vid on any brake repair for atv,such as warriors,big bears,iegers,they are all pretty much the same most have drum rears n disc fronts.for disc mostly just bleeding out air or bad fluid fixes them.some are drum both ends usaully older atvs.they just need new pads or slave cylders.fairly easy.you might get away with just tightning cables but not always good luck!!!snookie pa.big bear owner💥👍💥

    I have the same bike but 1999 I changed the carb and throttle cable. Now there is a lot of slack in the throttle cable any advice on how to adjust it to make it tighter

    How long did it take you to install the new carb and put back together again? Trying to decide if I want to TRY this. Thanks.

    Can you post some links to these parts you bought? I have an ‘01 Grizzly 600 that needs some of the same parts you installed on yours.

    Wow. This is the video I was looking for. I have a Yamaha 660 and the carb is leaking. Same story as yours. Did you find out what all the loose hoses were about that you showed in the beginning. I want to keep this 660 a long time as it used to be my brothers before he passed away.

      Don't really remember that but I think I recall it's maybe just a vent hose but I can't say for sure either way that machine ran great

      @sudo936 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the hoses don't connect to anything they are vents and or over flow drains. You can connect the crankcase breather into the air filter box if there is a spot. mine doesn't have a spot just venting higher than possible water level.

    i have the same atv. had the carb rebuilt and now it idles like it is running wide open. someone told me to check for air leak. if it had an air leak would it idle at wide open speed? and would it be on the intake side or the manifold side? thanks.

    • @JLafix
      @JLafix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A carburetor Need a mixture of fuel and air to make the engine run correctly Yeah it has nothing to do with the engine RPM level As far as getting too much air or not enough air . So if the engine is At high RPM while idling The 1st thing I would check is the idle adjustment screw on the carburetor. That machine is just a straight up engine with a carburetor no computer involved To command more fuel because of an air leak. So just check your Idle screw or maybe even the throttle cable Out of adjustment.

      Throttle adjustment and idle adjustment on carb. Turn it to the left to lower rpm turn to right to increase. It's the one that comes off carb on a cable.

    at 15:16 on the inlet of the carb there is two small jets(?)... my carb is spitting fuel out the hole on the right side of the carb.. the carb is new, do you have any idea why this is happening ??

    You will never start that thing with the rewind. Yamaha does not know how to make a bike that will start easy with the rewind.
