      Great question. Zoom videos do take time to process, and although it’s not an exact science, I’ve found that it can take roughly the amount of time of the raw recording to process, sometimes more or less. (For example, I’d assume a 1 hour recording could take up to an hour to process, but it’s not always that long.)

    Hi Melissa,
    Been finding your channel very useful, so thanks!
    If I already pay for Zoom pro, is there any reason to pay for Loom to record my presentations for the course I'm creating?
    Like, does Loom have any advantages that Zoom pro doesn't, or should I just just Zoom?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question!
      The biggest difference is on the editing side. On the recording side, Loom has more flexibility and options than Zoom, but I could still see it working if you weren’t particular about where the camera feed shows up alongside slides in the recording.
      But for editing, Zoom doesn’t have any capabilities other than a very simple trim at the start and end of a video. Loom gives you the option to cut pieces out of the middle of the video. It also has unlimited video hosting.
      That said, if you’re ok with the way the recordings look in Zoom, it might come down to finding an editing tool you like if you don’t need any of Loom’s other editing or sharing features.
      I hope that helps!

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question. In Zoom, you don’t have any control over where the webcam video appears onscreen, but Loom is one of my favorite screen recording tools, and you can move the video mid-recording. You can check it out at witandwire.com/loom, or here’s a full tutorial: studio.th-cam.com/users/videon7arjpJqjNM/comments/inbox?filter=%5B%5D

      @@witandwire This kind of thing happens all the time; you find a great tutorial and some nitwit decided to move the buttons around for no reason. That's half the reason I stuck with Mac, they leave the buttons where they were . . . well most of the time.

    Thanks for this video. When I record to my computer or the cloud, I only get 1 video option with myself showing. Is there a setting that I need to change?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. The reason is because there’s only one person in the meeting, therefore only one arrangement of the video is possible. If you have 2+ people, then you’ll see both speaker and gallery view because it’ll either alternate to only show the speaker or show a grid (gallery).

    What do you use to remove the background noise in Zoom? In Loom, I the noise is still present event though I clicked the background filter option.

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're using a mic, a pop filter helps remove background noise. If you are using audio from you computer's mic or headphones, there are some apps out there that can work well to remove background noise.

    Is it possible - or what software would you suggest if you would like to be on a video call and share your screen but show my camera view and another persons camera view on the screen at the same time with a presentation?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you could host using speaker view, and share your screen. Instead of using the default gallery view, there is an option to allow video panel or hide video panel, which is how you can allow another person's camera view.
      You can even allow participants to join with or without video when you host a meeting for the first time.

    Hi Melissa, I've been looking for how to share my screen and camera at the same time on Zoom for the longest time now. I happened to have noticed that when you chose to save the video, you saved it online and not on your computer. I tried saving it online and it works, I can see both the camera of myself and the screen share. However, if I do the same procedure, but choose to save my video on my computer instead of online when I do the screen share, my camera window doesn't show.
    Do you know of any workaround that would be possible for the screen sharing and camera to show when saving to your computer and not online?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. When you save to your computer, to my knowledge, Zoom doesn’t give you the option to decide what the video includes or how its formatted. (I might be wrong. It could be worth looking at Preferences or asking their team.)
      But in my experience, the only way to see options is to use Cloud recording. If you’re on a limited storage plan, you can download them right after the call. I hope that helps.

    • @Dorene_Oster
      @Dorene_Oster ปีที่แล้ว

      @@witandwire Thank you for your response. I will look into it. I hadn't tried saving to Zoom cloud before watching your video and didn't realize there was a difference in the settings.
      After I tried saving it online, I saw that the processing time was a little longer than saving it to my computer. But if it gives me the results I need, I will definitely save it online. Thank you. :)

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you’re wondering about notes in Zoom (i.e. the chat), none of Zoom’s controls or the chat will appear in any of your recordings. For any other tool, your screen recorder will record exactly what you see onscreen within the rectangle you set for recording. So if there are notes onscreen, you’ll see them. Some tools (like witandwire.com) do offer hidden space to write speaker notes, which don’t appear in the video.
