Dude, you do not look like a slim guy. The Pelagos looks great on your wrist. I am wearing a Pelagos for 4 years now and I am loving it.Screw Rolex and save the money.Michael from Germany
Hey just a question! I just got a pelagos 2024 and was wondering, on mine if i shake it a little it feels like something is swaying back and forth inside. not sure if this is normal since its my first watch but just wanted to ask. Thanks!
Solid video again!! Honestly, the Ti YM has just a refined feel to and is one of the first really cool releases Rolex had done in quite a while. Feels like a perfect release for us folks who like tool watches but still wear to office settings and such. It’s a Rolex release that I am excited about (first in a long time!). The biggest con is the price! Now, speaking of tool watches I just finally saw a Tudor BB Pro in person and I was surprised that I like it so now I’m headed to check out your info on yours for sale. Also saw the Cellini moon phase yesterday. I have to say I think it would make a stunning dress watch. I really liked it in person.
Thanks Marc! Yeah the more refined wearing experience goes a long way because sometimes its nice to wear a watch that is low key and versatile, all while still being titanium and a tool watch. And yeah same here, its definitely the best rolex release in years without a doubt! The price is a bit much for what it is but who knows maybe the titanium experience is other worldly 😂 Glad to hear that you liked the BB Pro bc it really is amazing and yeah check out the info and video for sure and if you have any questions, send me an email any time (thewatchidiot@gmail.com) Looool great minds think alike, at the end my rolex/tudor release video last week i made a quick note about the cellini line being discontinued and me missing the cellini moon phase! I absolutely love that watch and the look of the blue enamel moon phase disc is simply incredible. Maybe a 1908 moon phase will come soon?
Had a Pelagos LHD. Bulky, movement great and I had a not completely filled up Superluminova at the 6. Tudor said they won't swap the dial cause it is manufactured by hand so this can happen....Yeah.....selling all my watches except for my honey IWC Aquatimer 2000 1999... My Yachtmaster is coming in autumn :DDD
A lovely looking watch, but the brushing seems a bit coarse. Loads of money. It’s a shame that Tudor don’t do a Pelagos 39 with a date complication. With regard to the Pelagos 42 being the most legible tool watch, have you checked out the German competition? Sinn knock out some great divers, ie the U50. I have just spent about $1000 on a Damasko DS30, ok, it does not have a rotating bezel , but it has toughened submarine steel, which is pretty much unscratchable, it has a darker titanium grey look, is super light on a silicon strap, is 9.9mm thick and the visibility, including the date is unreal. The lume is pretty good and it almost seems Dress upable, even though it is all bead blasted. I LOVE IT!
I'm scratching my head as to why Rolex used Ti on the YM and not the Sea Dweller. It would have made sense especially after that 50mm monstrosity and it would have been a fair comparison to the Pelly, it outspecs this watch in a lot of ways, at least in terms of sport watch practicality. Just an odd choice IMO.
Yeah a titanium Sea Dweller would have been incredible but maybe they thought that it would step on the Pelagos' toes considering how little real overlap there is between Tudor and Rolex. A titanium Sea Dweller and Sub would have been perfect! That said leaving the name and history of the Yacht-Master line aside, the watch itself is pretty awesome (albeit over priced)!
I think it looks really good with the raised numerals that are part of the YM DNA. Don't think it works as well with the SD flat ceramic tbh. This watch is killer.
My biggest qualm on the Tudor was the bracelet clasp being so sharp. The 42 was a bit too. It was so sharp that I had to trade for a FXD. The Rolex bracelet and caseback is Ti, unlike the Tudor. The Rolex bracelet and clasp is BUTTER! It’s very noticeable and the reason why I’d pay the extra for the Rolex over the Tudor.
It seems more logical to that Rolex would develop a titanium Submariner before a titanium Yachtmaster. I wonder if they’ll decide to produce a titanium Sub anytime soon.
Had my LHD Pelagos for years, and I love it. My Rolex AD informs me that they will receive just one ti Yachtmaster every two years. He’s already had 22 “applications” to purchase, so No.22 customer had better be young enough to see his watch before slipping off this mortal coil.
You and I are on the same page. I absolutely love Titanium for all the reasons you gave. My dream watch has always been the Rolex Submariner in Titanium. I never thought it would happen but with the release of the Yacht Master I actually think it will happen one day. The problem though is will I be able to buy one from an AD?!
Oh man a titanium sub would be absolutely perfect, fingers crossed for that! Yeah the AD question is going to be a big one, lets hope no one else is interested in this😂
Have you handled a Christopher Ward C60 elite titanium? That one intrigues me… recently added a blue Pelagos to my collection and loving the ti. A ti yacht master is not likely in the cards anytime soon.
I haven't worn the C60 elite in titanium but I really want to bc it's so comparable to the Pelagos while still offering a different feel. That said I had a steel 40mm C60 Sapphire Black and I absolutely loved it I couldn't believe that it was priced at about 1100. It was actually one of my very first videos! So given CWs quality I'm sure the Elite will be fantastic. On top of that they have a really great return policy so check that out too
I know exactly how you feel about the new Yacht-Master TWI. I've yet to see one but I love it. My LHD will remain in the collection as will my P39 so justification is a difficult one for me. If I didn't have the P39 it would still be a difficult decision as there is something about the P39 that makes it so versatile if you don't mind the lack of a date complication, thinner and lighter than the LHD but still very modern but very slightly more dressy. I think the titanium Yacht-Master was my favourite Rolex release this year, the one that sent my wallet scurrying to the corner.
I figured that you'd love it as well! I've seen the Pelagos 39 once before for a few seconds only so I definitely need to give it another go for longer and I think it can fully scratch the itch in case I'm 2 decades away on the wait-list lol! And actually it could be the better option since it's 39mm and since it won't destroy my wallet😅 (But then there's the FXD as well...)
@@thewatchidiot The P39 is a lot lighter than my LHD, on the wrist it's almost like it's not there. That could be an issue for some but as you know I'm happy to wear a Casio digitals so the weight is no issue for me. Another thing I love about the P39 is that you can wear it almost anywhere as it's a tool watch and no bling. I tried an FXD last year and it's a truly great watch but I couldn't get it comfortable on my wrist with either of the supplied straps so I grudgingly passed on it. Most people have found it really comfortable though so it's probably just me.
Great to hear your thoughts on the YM to Pelly. The AD would need a 300 to 400k buy history or be an A lister. Dreaming is good for the mind. Stay healthy and safe.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Conceptually I love that these two watches are as different as they are and it might stay conceptual if we never see a YM lol! Stay healthy and safe to you as well😁
The YM was probably the less popular watch in Rolex professional lineup. Problem solved with this new YM in Titanium. 😂. It is absolutely beautiful. Ignore the haters and if you can get your hands on one, enjoy it. There is something magic about the brand with the crown 🤷♂️. The Pelagos is an amazing watch as well btw.
Rolex did well with this one! it feels a bit weird that one of Rolex's best tool watches came out as a yacht master but to me that makes things that much more interesting lol. Fingers crossed that the stars align somehow for this watch because i can only imagine what that dreamy rolex wrist feel will be like in titanium😁 Yeah the Pelagos is incredible, its the last watch i'd ever sell!
99.99% of Bugatti owners are not going to drive their cars at the highest speed limits, but when they’re spending that kind of money they expect it to be able to go that fast anyway. It’s lazy of Rolex to make the Yachtmaster only 100m yet they make similarly sized watches at 3 times the depth or even twice the capability with their sister company Tudor. I really wanted the Yachtmaster but it’s stupid to pay them that much for such a lazy effort when there’s the Tudor Pelagos available for much cheaper.
I can see it both ways but mostly that the YM and the Pelagos are quite different. I think they could coexist especially since you love titanium so much, but the price is a bit much
Yeah and I cant wait to finally see one in person to really get a better feel of the differences and hopefully it loves up to my expectations! Yeah price is a bit much but man its pulling me in!
Yeah, the Pelagos is probably the greatest tool watch ever made. It’s the most popular watch among my special forces friends, and 10 years go, it was a Rolex sub. Let’s see next decade!
Oh wow its great to know that the Pelagos got a seal of approval from your special forces friends! Definitely gives the Pelagos another layer of legitimacy. Maybe the next decade the tool watch of choice will be the titanium yacht master😂
If this YM was 40mm it would have been incredible but that would unfortunately be steeping on the toes of the Submariner and the Pelagos 39😬 Thankfully the Pelagos 42 is still here and going strong!
really cannot see the point of the Yachtmaster! It a Submariner with a black matt dive bezel but without a diver's waterproofing! It's half a Submariner! If you want to dive, take a dive watch, not a Yachtmaster! More style before substance from Rolex..... btw, the Pelagos is way better value for what you want out of a dive watch!
i don't think any rolex is worth the cost... you can find watches with the fit/finish/quality of about 98% a rolex for a tenth of the price. think about it, i have a $300 titanium citizen watch that's better than the yachmaster as well as a $750 titanium citizen diver, i don't need to waste another $19,000 for the pelagos and yachtmaster. zero reason to buy either of those two.
Pelagos and NorthFlag were strong identity statements. Technically speaking, Submariner is homage to Seamaster, which was released 6 years earlier, but that can also be a hilarious statement.

I own a 2021 Pelagos LHD as am left handed, I would love the gmt2 that is left handed, but would happily take the titanium Yachtmaster too!
I love titanium period
I definitely prefer the snowflake hands and I’m a cyclops hater so I’d go pelagos
Hey, Titanium is just as scratch-resistant as metal? Less or more ?
