Ty for this vid and all the tips!! Taking notes for a future trip. Do you remember how long of a hike it was from the cable car/gondola to the Baita Troier hut?
I can use some help planing my trip. I am planning to go to Seceda on May 23rd. It looks like most of the cable cars will not be in service except for Col Raiser. Any idea how long is the hike from the Col Raiser cable car arrival station to Seceda? I will arrive in the early afternoon so I am worried about not making it back in time for the last cable car at 5 pm. Thank you!
thank you for this! I was trying to decide between this town and Castelrotto, and now I know! so beautiful and I love that you can easily access trails from town as I will not have a car....and as of right now, I'll be alone....the trails seem to be well marked and I plan to stay on them and pay attention, I shouldn't get lost.....Sandy
We unfortunately didn't spend time in Cortina, but we hear it's a great home base. You may need a car though. I am not sure if it has a gondola to hikes like Seceda does.
We have learned that while the some people in the town may speak German (like our Airbnb hosts), it’s actually more of an Austrian culture than a German culture. We wanted to clarify that since we were a bit confused!
Northeast italy is awesome because it is very multicultural, please come to friuli and venezia giulia next time: Trieste and Udine are unknown gems, and in summer people go to the rivers to swim : th-cam.com/video/ipD7HzV5nik/w-d-xo.html
It's indeed a bit of a cultural faux pas to call that region German (never say that in public), very much like calling Canadians Americans because they speak (almost) the same language. You were in South Tyrol, which always was Austrian, until they were annexed by Italy in 1919. They have a very autonomous status, and the majority of the population still speaks German as their mother tongue (although there have been many Italian-speaking 'immigrants' from further south, as the region is quite wealthy). There is still a state called Tyrol in Austria, and they have a strong relationship with their neighbours in South Tyrol. The other language, Ladin, is closely related to Romansh, the official fourth language of Switzerland. Ladin is a remnant of a local vulgar version of Latin, but developed separately from Italian (which is also derived from Latin). It is still spoken in other mountainous parts of northern Italy, Switzerland and Slovenia, but different names are used for the language (e.g. Friulian).
Very informative video. Kudos to both of you. The Airbnb that you have shared is no longer taking any bookings. Can you please suggest any other Airbnbs in Ortisei by any chance? Planning to go there in April. Many thanks in advance
Incredible that you have the Gondola by yourselves and that when you get to the top, there is literally no one there? What time of day or what month/year was this? COVID times?
Just stumbled upon your channel while researching the Dolomites (we're heading there in September) and are really enjoying your videos! They really entertaining and packed with information. You guys really took us the fear of the crowds there. We were already considering to skip some of the most popular spots, but we might get lucky as well and have some places for ourselves in the morning. Hugs from Austria!
Hi y’all! We’re so glad that the videos helped y’all plan your trip! We were surprised that the crowds weren’t awful. We are used to some very busy hikes in Washington, so maybe that helped set our expectations! But as we say in almost every video lol, getting places early ALWAYS pays off! 🙌🏼 Have an amazing trip and we realllllyyyy hope to make it to Austria someday soon! 😍
Love your stuff. Keep it up. Question. In this vid what hike are you on where it shows you skipping? The links are generic and like you said in the vid there are many ways to go once you get to the top of the tram.
Hi Scott! If you mean at the 4:50 mark, thats at the top of Seceda. You just take the path straight from the gondola towards the Seceda mountain, passing a small lift along the way. After that, we honestly just explored a bit without any idea where we were going. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I can't believe you're still replying to comments here. Great work. We first found you back in 2020, when we were planning to come to Seceda. We actually made it in June this year. I love this video and use it quite often to describe to my fellow Australians, what it is like to see some of the places in Europe. I tell them to go to 3:30 and watch your reaction when you get to the top. I have had that "speechless" moment a number of times. When you just stare and can only say one word, just trying to soak it all in. (Travel Beans have the same reaction in the same spot on their vlog) I know that feeling. WE DO NOT REMEMBER DAYS, WE REMEMBER MOMENTS. Cesare Pavese Good luck with where and what you're up to when you read this and keep adventuring.
We see all the comments in the back end of TH-cam so it makes it pretty easy to respond all the comments. 😀 Congrats on making it out there! It's still one of our favorite places ever! That is a great feeling and I love that quote. Thanks and thanks for watching!
Good video and the Dolomites are beyond any description possible. I spent a month there in 2018 and still couldn't see everything. Now, constructive criticism, half the video I saw you two talking. Would have loved to see more of the landscape... Keep that in mind for future trips. Good luck!
They are incredible! And thanks for the feedback. Our style is to share our experience more so than just straight scenery, but this video is pretty old and I think we have gotten better at balancing it since then.
In the previous video we started around sunrise, but for this video we had to wait until the gondola was open. I don’t remember what time that was, but I’m sure it says on their website
Also, hard lesson learned re fuel stations. If you are renting a diesel vehicle be SURE it has enough AdBlue BEFORE you leave the rental lot. Running low on AdBlue can strand you. Rental companies should fill their diesels with AdBlue but never seem to bother. Wasted a day on one trip chasing AdBlue.
Oh my goodness, it's so gorgeous! It's what I would imagine Switzerland to look like. Plus, I can take a gondola! Would love to hike in those mountains. So impressed! How's the gluten, not gluten going? Just curious. That food looked amazing! Great tips at the end, especially if you plan on going to Italy! Thanks again!
The Italian Dolomites will forever be on our list of favorite places! Especially with our amazing hosts who made our time even better. The gluten in Italy didn't bother me at all...I was shocked! I ate TONS of it and never felt sick, only VERY full since we ate a lot lol!
if you have to pick between seceda ridge or tre cime which would you pick? Will be w/o rental car and time is kinda limted so can only pick one ): Wonderful videos. Your italy trip videos are packed with very useful info big thanks!
That’s a really hard choice, but I think we’d recommend Seceda. The gondola is a lot of fun, it’s more green at the top, there are tons of walking paths, cows roaming around, plus there is more to do in town if you want to get food before or after. We hope you have a great trip! We can’t wait to go back one day! Thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thanks for the reply. you guys are the best. I have somehow derived a plan to visit both(and Cadini di Misurina). It involves some hrs long bus/train transfer. Still unsure of it but if that doesn't work out due to my laziness, Seceda only plan will still be a go.
@@sultiib6647 hi, I ended up only going for seceda ridge and Alpe di Siusi. I probably could have done more around the area but I only got like 2-3 days in Ortisei area. I only used public transportation throughout the whole Italy trip I think. make sure you wear sunscreen. area is cool temp wise but sun will burn you and make your trip miserable if no protection. you should definitely make the visit happen if you are think about it. that area is beautiful. very dream like.
We visited in late June so I'd say it's probably a good time to go. I would definitely research the average weather and when certain attractions open for the season before you decide to go
Hi! Thank you so much! I wish I remembered the exact cost, but I believe all 4 items were under 50 euros for sure, probably a lot less than that. We don’t really like to spend a ton of money on food and I don’t recall it being crazy expensive! Sorry we couldn’t help more 😔
So if one decides to go to the Alps, Italy would be the best choice, considering that the landcapes are breathtaking but cheaper than Austria, for instance?
Alex Lazar we have yet to go to Austria or Switzerland, but from what we have heard the Dolomites are much cheaper and they are crazy beautiful! Some have even told us they liked them better. We went in July and it didn’t feel that crowded either!
Hey guys, you didn't lose $20 in gas. If you put $50 in gas as cash and you only use $30, the machine gives you a receipt where you get a $20 credit to use in another gas station (of the same brand).
@@AdventuresofAplusK loved your videos by the way. I miss Italy so much, I lived there for a few years, moved back to the US recently, now I'm in the Seattle area... Saw you guys have videos on that. Looking forward to exploring with my family.

Amazing!! My fiancé and I are celebrating our honeymoon in northern Italy and will be in Ortesei! Do you think it’s an absolute necessity to rent a car if we just plan to hike Seceda and alpe di suisi? We are taking a train and bus from Venice to get there and staying for 2 days!
Thanks David! We do edit the videos, but pretty basic stuff like tweaking the exposure, contrast, shadows, and highlights to make it look like how it did in real life! The colors were that amazing!
My boyfriend and I have been planning a two-week (15 day) trip to Italy for a year and a half, due to covid our travel date has had to be pushed out. But your videos are very helpful in our planning and you two have inspired us to add the Dolomites to our itinerary. I have a question about Seceda, when I look online there are more than one cable car options, which one did you take?
Hi Stephanie! We are so sorry your trip has been pushed out 😭😭 But we’re glad you’re adding the Dolomites, it was the highlight of our time in Italy! There are two cable cars you’ll take to the top, Cable car Ortisei-Furnes and Cable car Furnes-Seceda. The first one starts in Ortisei and then part of the way up you switch to the second one. Thankfully there is no where else to go, so that makes it so you can’t really mess up. The third one listed online I believe is for when you’re actually up there. They do have a small lift near the top that you can use to explore the valley, hike down and then lift back up, etc. I hope that helps!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thank you so much for your response! We are so looking forward to visiting Italy it's been pretty much a lifelong dream for us both. It will be worth the wait! It's a magical, beautiful country! And you're welcome for the info on the cable car. It is confusing (as is planning most things in the Dolomites due to the many names for everything haha)

Thank you!
Italy is beautiful my regione too.Valle D'Aosta.Greetings from Aosta
Ciao! We love Italy!
thank you for this!
We highly recommend this area! There is so much to see and you can even take a bus around.
Better choice than cortina? Did you go there? Closer to venice
We unfortunately didn't spend time in Cortina, but we hear it's a great home base. You may need a car though. I am not sure if it has a gondola to hikes like Seceda does.
Watching the Venice one now. Good tip about having cash. I never have cash on me anymore so good to know!
We have learned that while the some people in the town may speak German (like our Airbnb hosts), it’s actually more of an Austrian culture than a German culture. We wanted to clarify that since we were a bit confused!
Adventures of A plus K
Actually it was Austria and after WW Italy took it!
Ah thank you for clarifying!
Friulian).
We'll get it right next time! 😄Thank you for explaining!
Another great video from my favorite place ❤
Thanks, Richard!
Very informative video. Kudos to both of you. The Airbnb that you have shared is no longer taking any bookings. Can you please suggest any other Airbnbs in Ortisei by any chance? Planning to go there in April. Many thanks in advance
Is the cable car to seceda operate in early May .. hoping to go there, tq
I recommend checking out their website
Incredible that you have the Gondola by yourselves and that when you get to the top, there is literally no one there? What time of day or what month/year was this? COVID times?
We went as early as we could. This was before COVID. July 2019
Was a pity have been in Ortisei and not visiting Alpe di Siusi :)
We wanted to sooo badly! 😭 Unfortunately our time in the Dolomites was super short. But we will be back!
I wonder if the big tented eatery is the same. Since covid
Hi A+K,nice vlog.very helpful for trippers
Thank you!
I was in Castelrotto. Ortisei is near
Georgio Scori What are your recommendations for a late April trip in the Dolomites? Any tips?
Alpe di Siusi, Tre Cime hiking
Cesare Pavese
Good luck with where and what you're up to when you read this and keep adventuring.
We see all the comments in the back end of TH-cam so it makes it pretty easy to respond all the comments. 😀
Congrats on making it out there! It's still one of our favorite places ever! That is a great feeling and I love that quote.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Love the Dolomites. Well done 👍 x
Thank you! We sure wish we had a drone for this trip! 😉
Adventures of A plus K if you have time pass by my channel and let me know if you also like! The video on Dolomites is so great
hi there, which month of the year were you there?
July 2019
Nice Video, well explained and great that you mentioned our mother language Ladin!👌
I'm from Ortisei :)
Ahhh we loved your town! 💗💗💗
planned to visit Seceda too this summer
It’s a beautiful place!
Guys, brilliant video, in which did you visit? I guess it's in the summer, perfect days!
This was early July!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Makes sense, great footage quality guys, thanks!
HI, quick question, was it in July you guys got there? trying to find the best time of the year to visit Seceda, thanks
Hi Dave! This was July 6th I believe! July and August would be great times to visit (September probably too!) 😄
Do the lifts open in late May?
It looks fantastic. Great video 👍
It was the absolute best!!! We will never forget this day!
I love y'alls energy! Hope international traveling can be a thing soon :D
We hope so too! Would love to get back to Europe again someday!
Have plans for next year.....hope Covid is history by then
Hi - love your videos! What month was this?
This was July 2019. Thank you for watching!
@AdventuresofAplusK thanks!
Really nice videos on the Dolomites. What time in the morning did you visited these places?
In the previous video we started around sunrise, but for this video we had to wait until the gondola was open. I don’t remember what time that was, but I’m sure it says on their website
Is there a hotel/air b&b available on top of seceda? I wanted to experience waking up in the morning in such a beautiful place.
There are some refugios up there!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thanks!!
Oh that’s great to know! Thankfully we didn’t have a diesel, but we did spend some time trying to figure out what type of gas it even took lol!
Excellent video, very helpful 👍
Which month of the year??? Nice video...kudos
This was early July of 2019!
Thank you....
if you have to pick between seceda ridge or tre cime which would you pick? Will be w/o rental car and time is kinda limted so can only pick one ):
Wonderful videos.
Hey, what car did you hire?
@@sultiib6647 hi, I ended up only going for seceda ridge and Alpe di Siusi. I probably could have done more around the area but I only got like 2-3 days in Ortisei area. I only used public transportation throughout the whole Italy trip I think.
make sure you wear sunscreen. area is cool temp wise but sun will burn you and make your trip miserable if no protection.
you should definitely make the visit happen if you are think about it. that area is beautiful. very dream like.
It sad.. Albert dyrlund the danish TH-cam fall from seceda while filming a video to his TH-cam channel 😭😭😭🥺
awesome video guys.... what time of year were you there?
This was early July!
Is early June a good time to visit?
We visited in late June so I'd say it's probably a good time to go. I would definitely research the average weather and when certain attractions open for the season before you decide to go
hey do you know what time you arrived to seceda and came back?
Unfortunately no. It's been several years! Our recommendation for anything is to go as early as possible!
Excellent very high quality channel thanks!
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Hello guys!! Which month did you visit this place?
Hi! We visited July 2019
How much was the meal at 12.00, at the festival? Thank you, lovely vlog😊
Hi! Thank you so much! I wish I remembered the exact cost, but I believe all 4 items were under 50 euros for sure, probably a lot less than that. We don’t really like to spend a ton of money on food and I don’t recall it being crazy expensive! Sorry we couldn’t help more 😔
But anyway cheaper than Switzerland or Austria, I guess?
Alex Lazar oh absolutely!
Hmmm that’s interesting! We unfortunately lost it since we didn’t know that, but now we know for next time!
@@AdventuresofAplusK loved your videos by the way. I miss Italy so much, I lived there for a few years, moved back to the US recently, now I'm in the Seattle area... Saw you guys have videos on that. Looking forward to exploring with my family.
Thank you so much for that tip! We will keep our eyes out for that next time. And wow, what a big move! Where did you live in Italy? We loved living in Seattle and hope to head back up that way when we can travel again!
@@AdventuresofAplusK I lived in Rome (family still there until we figure out the travelling situation). We did a lot of traveling in Italy, but of course, there's still a ton to see (such as this beautiful portion of Italy you showed us). Looking forward to see more of your content. Stay safe and healthy.
We loved Rome! Italy as a whole was so incredible and full of diverse scenery. Seattle is pretty diverse scenery as well, we hope your family makes it safely and y’all can explore soon!
How on earth did you guys destroy all that food?! Awesome vid!
Hahaha we are bottomless pits! 🤣🤣
I love the dolomiti ❤❤❤👍🇮🇹
Us too! 😍😍
Hello. I'm from Czech. I was there in Winter I like skiing but I want to go in summer hiking and go with my camera:). Nice video really like it and I must subscribed Yours channel. Thanks for this video Is amazing
Thank you so much! We bet winter there is absolutely beautiful! We need to learn how to ski better first lol 😅
@@AdventuresofAplusK Skiing is easy. You try look at snowmobile. When driver wants turn left. Skies turn left and about Skiing same princip. 1. It is work little big fast. 2. You must little nab
Georgio Scori last time we tried was a disaster lol! But I definitely want to try again!
@@AdventuresofAplusK You keep trying!
Awesome! What time of year did you go? Planning a trip there at the end of June
This was very early July!
the next time you came to the Dolomites you have to try a via ferrata
We 1000% will! We did on in WV and loved it!
Strauben ❤️(dessert they eat at the festival)
SOOO good! 😍
I’m going in June. I’m so excited
Wonderful video!!! May I know if your videos were color graded or just straight out of camera? The colors looked beautiful!
Thanks David! We do edit the videos, but pretty basic stuff like tweaking the exposure, contrast, shadows, and highlights to make it look like how it did in real life! The colors were that amazing!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thanks! Will be visiting there in a month's time, watching your video certainly helped!
david scz have the best time and eat lots of treats at the huts for us! We miss it there soooo much!!!
There are two cable cars you’ll take to the top, Cable car Ortisei-Furnes and
Cable car Furnes-Seceda.
Thank you for the cable car information, that helps I just wanted to make sure we weren't going to be going to the wrong location and it isn't clear on the website
I hope you two are keeping well during these times and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your adventures once covid has passed and it is safe to travel again!
It will be worth the wait! It's a magical, beautiful country! And you're welcome for the info on the cable car. It is confusing (as is planning most things in the Dolomites due to the many names for everything haha)
@@AdventuresofAplusK I have no doubts it will be worth it and a magical experience. We are both of Italian background which draws there even stronger.
I heard you mention that there were multiple names in one of the videos making planning confusing. One of the many reasons I'm greatful for your videos.
Can i know the mane of soundtrack at 5:57? Thank.uuuuu
It’s been so long. I’m not sure. Might have to ask Siri that question
@@AdventuresofAplusK ok no prb
Did you get any special training for driving in Italy?
No I did not. It was pretty much the same as the US
Hi! What time of year was this? I am planning to go to the Dolomites at the end of June and the weather forecast looks like storms the entire month into July.
Hello! We went in early August
