Watching the videos of Babet from Canada. You sure took a walloping. I see the Lifeboat coming in on your video. I hope that everyone was smart enough to stay in protected harbours and not foolishly endanger the lives of those fellows.
Someone reported a paddle board floating in the water past the piers, so they went to investigate. Then the RNLI vehicle came on the pier because of someone who had climbed around the pier gates and walked down the pier. This was the day after Babet. This pier has been standing for 100+ years now, it’s sad to see it’s lost some of it history to the storm.
@@TheAllRoundFisherman How much of that light is gone? (You must have been concerned about the safety of your drone or are the seas still high because of wind elsewhere?)
@@abrahamdozer6273 Pretty much the whole dome of the light house was washed in. If you google South Shields Pier you’ll be able to get a good idea of how much was washed away.
@@abrahamdozer6273 The winds had died down to about 25mph, so the drone was still pretty stable. It would give me wind safety warnings if it was struggling with the wind and gusts.
It ripped out about 5+ tonne of the rounded wall, most of the railings on the other side, ripped off the dome of the lighthouse. Have a Google of South Shields pier and it’ll give you a go idea of what it looked like before the storm.
Imagine living there- as they once did, getting thrown off the top of the lighthouse into the sea.
Good video 😃👍

@@TheAllRoundFisherman I hope that you can pass the hat and replace it. The missing stones might be recoverable on a calm day at low tide.
Nice! What are you flying?
Thanks! It’s a DJI Mini 3.
By heck, some force of water.
did the storm damage the wall or was that already done?
The storm tore the walls apart. Worst damage that lighthouse has ever suffered

hope Trinity House gets the lighthouse fixed,
Port of Tyne Authority is responsible for both Piers.
