you are an insult to the world of conducting. You should be ashamed even just the idea of imitating, moreover very malleable, the conductor as Karajan's caliber. In the end, your imitation is very well equipped with your way of imitating. Shame on you.

@Philipp S. The fact that he/she is so humourless, and thinks that being an esteemed conductor makes one exempt from criticism and parody... and the way he/she frames all of that as being "insulting" to conducting when it's just him/her who's offended... i mean just fuck right off

Celibidache: sit down, hardly move your hands, and constantly grimace at the orchestra
Bernstein: loosen the wrists (barely move your arms), and shrug your shoulders with the music if it gets loud
Toscanini: literally don’t f’kin move. Conduct as if you were a robot programmed directly from a manual on how to conduct.

    • @boundary2580

@@pprudencio1966 kind of ironic how Toscanini, the most robotic conductor, probably was getting the most “into” the music. I’d place him above Bernstein as my favorite conductor, though it’s a close race.

Beloved conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler, who mentored Daniel Barenboim IIRC, was one of the many conductors of yesteryear who didn't give clear indications to the players. So there's this story: Two violinists, one from the Berlin Philharmonic and one from the Vienna Philharmonic, met one day. The Vienna player asks: "You know, with Furtwängler, how do you guys know when to start playing?" The Berlin player replies: "We start when the tip of his baton reaches the third button on his vest. And you?" Vienna player: "When we can't take it anymore."
