- Join us on a sunny spring morning to check out the Waterways in Great Yarmouth and see how bad I can I row a boat! The Waterways which comprises of the Venetian Waterways, the Ornamental Gardens and Boating Lake. Located just north of Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile, the Waterways has been a popular visitor attraction for generations, enjoyed by local residents and tourists alike. On the Venetian Waterways side of the park you will find winding canals snaking their way through the site crossed by bridges, which allow you to leisurely wander around the interlinking walkways and islands. These areas are perfect for a leisurely afternoon taking in the views of the gardens and ornamental features, whilst enjoying a picnic. A haven to wildlife, including duck and heron, the park is great for exploring and learning at the same time, with information boards and a trail scattered throughout.
If you up for something a bit more adventurous than the Boating Lake is the place for you. Situated on the North side of the park, the vast lake has boats and pedalos for hire. The boats are excellent for families or parties up to five people to take out on the water, while the pedalos are ideal for twos.
The onsite café offers the perfect location to overlook the lake and enjoy a spot of lunch or afternoon tea.
The park runs alongside North Beach, which itself and dunes form a part of a larger designation of international importance to nature conservation, and are home to little terns during the spring and summer months.
Take a boat out on the boating lake at a cost of £8 for half an hour for up to 4 people.

How deep is the water ?
My grandad used to steer the little boats around the waterways when it had fairytale models in it and lit up at night. The boats were fronted with animal features. , I can remember a swan head, fish head and elephant head. It was magical😊
I had a walk there last week and saw the Heron and 12 baby ducklings. Still as magical x

Awww, we had so much fun watching this older Tim & Gabby Adventure. I confess we're not that interested in your newer, extremely popular "fancy hotel" episodes, but we so enjoy seeing you two (and of course sweet Casper, when he comes along!) So we decided to venture into the past for more a more down-home type of fun. It's going to be great going back in time to walk around the old British seaside towns, the thriving and the failing ones, attractions, etc. See you in Weston-Super-Mare circa 2022! 😃

Hi. I live in Scotland but was born and bread in Great Yarmouth I love the Waterways. You seem to know more about the town than I do. My wife is Scottish and I have always told her about the Waterways. Every time we have been down the waterways were derelict. We were down last August to attend my sisters funeral and I took my wife to the waterways now that they have been restored, she loved them. but in the early days there was a lot more colour in the gardens. Keep the videos coming they help me keep in touch. Thank you.

I've been on the waterways so many times as a child whilst on holiday in Yarmouth, 2 years ago we just happened to be on holiday and we were there on the grand reopening of The Waterways and was lucky and fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time and me and my family had our photograph taken with The Lord Mayor of Great Yarmouth, a very proud moment and he is a very lovely man, as a kid Tim I went on the waterways on an evening when the boats and gardens were illuminated, such happy memories, again thanks so much for sharing, very much appreciated ❤️😄👍

Went there last year while on holiday had nice coffee while watching son and grandson rowing and laughing at a guy who was just going in circles and couldnt get back to start to dock he had to be rescued and towed in .🤣🤣

Every evening I go for my daily walk around the waterways. There is plenty of fish in there, mostly Roach and Rudd but I've also seen a couple of Goldfish. I take a tub of fish food with me now

@@WalkWithMeTim if you go through the main entrance and go to the second wooden bridge in the middle you'll see loads of fish there. If you throw a bit of bread in they'll come to the surface, just make sure the ducks and seagulls don't notice the bread. 😉 that's why I take the fish food with me, the ducks and seagulls aren't interested in that. Drop a big pinch of food in and wait a few minutes then watch the feeding frenzy 👍🏻

Loved this piece of film, one of my favourite places, we walk through it every morning when we are on holiday there. I loved filming it from the derelict state it was in , to the filming of all the workmen hard at work, to the finished wonderful scene you see today. it is a credit to Great Yarmouth. Hi Tim, ive not been to the Waterways for years even though i live here, and over the past 8 years havnt had good health. Sooo, i havnt been able to walk round there for a number of years ...And i just wanted to say a huge "Thank you" for showing this, and all the other videos you do. In a way it gets me out and about!! 🙂 Im hoping to go to the waterways this summer, all being well, it looks stunning!! But wont be able to walk round the whole of it, so thanks for taking us round! 🙂🙃😉 Its beautiful. 🌼

I love the Waterways I used to love it when I was a child with all the fairytale characters lite up around the place. The boats with the fish , swan and elephant head at the front all lite up it used to be magical. OMG you had me in stitches 😂 on that boat so funny 😂😂😂 if it makes you feel any better Tim my husband can't row either . We got stuck out on the river in Wareham Dorset and nearly crashed into a beautiful cruiser 😂 . Great vlog as always love Tracey 💕 Xxxx

I stayed in great Yarmouth back in September and visited the area my total trip was planned watching your videos. I Was I'm impressed with the Venetian waterways it was quite a nice surprise and it was only about 5 minutes from the b&b I was staying in

After watching this video in April I really wanted to visit the waterways as I didn’t know they were there, and I’m pleased to say we achieved this a week or so ago. We walked along the coast path from Caister and then had lunch in the thatched roof cafe before walking back . We had such a lovely day, and I just wanted to say thank you for showing us these lovely places. You really made my day😊😊

@@WalkWithMeTim Oh I had a nightmare 🤣 started in Cromer and Sheringham then down to Great Yarmouth but had crazy camera and gimbal problems so ended up with a stockpile of terrible footage 🤣🤣
Then got so lost I didn’t know where to go and ended up coming home 🤣

I tried to do more than one location and it stressed me out and just didn't have the time as you park up do the walk, then have to walk back get b roll then take the drone up lol . On a sunny day its great
the water used to be sea water, as a youngster we used to swim in the waterways, and you would find crabs and small flat fish in there, now i believe its fresh water in both

This looks brilliant now. The last holiday I had at seashore was a few years ago and the boating lake was empty and fenced off. The heron was looking a bit worried cos all the fish were dead, and the council had some sort of pumps going 24/7 to oxygenate the water. Also I saw the Iron Duke in one of your other videos, it looks a lot more dilapidated , wish they would do something with it ☹️

I can remember the boats with the animals heads and the small scenes with various fairy tale characters dotted about the waterways when I was a boy (here is a short film I found on TH-cam that has a brief shot of the boats ( th-cam.com/video/do0SJbRyKbo/w-d-xo.html ) Your film made me feel a little homesick - I have been living in the UAE for seven years and have not been back to Yarmouth for over 18 months - thanks for the content
