    Before I retired, I liked Marriott branded properties and was Platinum for several years. Liked their lounges for a light breakfast and evening snacks as well as the honor bar. Rooms were reliably comfortable. Don't spend too many nights in hotels anymore and now tend toward Hilton properties. We cruise a lot and often just need a room overnight prior to a cruise.

    Being a IHG platnium, points don't expire during Covid, you're pretty much have it for life. Recently got to platnium for Marriot, I think it's a bit overrated, the lounge is always crowded, which especially in Covid recovery is not the best place to be, and you rarely get upgrades as platnium is so easily accessible now than before. In IHG, the benefits sounds little on paper, but there's basically gaurentee room upgrades everytime I check in, and the service consistency is clearly at another level if you stayed in their luxury line. I was at JW, Ritz cross Asia, the staffs were attentive, but have misplaced my food delivery 4 times during my stay... I would recommand to give each chain a try, instead of just looking at on paper benefits..

    Hi Chris , the Venetian and the palazzo are part of the ihg program and it’s actually one of the greatest perks when you get the ihg chase credit card is you get a free night and you can actually use it to stay at the Venetian or the palazzo, also if you go to macau they have the Parisian, the londers and the Venetian at Macau , IHG also offer free breakfast for platinum and above in same of their different brands

    I’ve had all of these, and use IHG the most. My Diamond elite (formerly Spire) was extended TWO years free because of Covid. I always get an upgrade, and lounge access, and often if no lounge, breakfast. Maybe I’ve just been lucky!

    The most $$ way to get elite status is to be chairman’s level with MVC🤣🤣. But it’s worth it. You can use Marriott points to buy vacation packages. 5 night stays with air miles. They do not need to be used together so you can grab them just for the air miles with a lower level hotel, but then upgrade the hotel at a later point.

    I agree with you on Courtyards domestically suck, and….JW Marriott breakfast in Hong Kong is the BOMB, Also the Conrad in Hong Kong is great for breakfast. The Asian properties with bonvoy and Hilton are way better than any American property. Singapore’s lounges at JW and Conrad are great

    Love, love, love the Park Lane - my favorite hotel in London! Other favorites include the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square (Seoul) and the St. Regis Bangkok. Will be trying out the Park Hyatt NYC for the first time in a few weeks.
    Long-time Marriott loyalist (Lifetime Titanium, currently Ambassador) but have been getting more annoyed with the inconsistent service - esp. in the US - in recent years. Decided to try Hyatt during my last on-site project (before the lockdowns) and was actually gifted Globalist status by the hotel sales manager (I, too, have renewed my status using Hyatt's 2021 promos). Just got back from a 10-day trip to San Fran & Monterey where I was able to directly compare current service while traveling as both Ambassador and Globalist. While Marriott did better than I expected, Hyatt definitely had the edge in terms of elite benefits and recognition. Biggest issue, as you mentioned, remains Hyatt's small footprint.

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A little too much weight given to free breakfasts. If I’m on vaca, breakfast is the lowest priority (it’# not a fun time if I’m awake that early 😂). IHG scores much better if one considers free night access. Marriott has terribly devalued its points, making free nights harder to earn. All 4 of these chains have nice properties in most large cities and USA tourist dests, thus free night access s/b a strong consideration when choosing loyalty

      In my case, I don’t particularly care about upgrades as I just want the highest floor possible- so Hilton is an absolute LIFESAVER for me because being on the highest floor possible is a HUGE part of my trip but I don’t care about suites or bed types as a vertically challenged solo traveler (just autism things).

    Let me ask, If you have top tier status for Hyatt and stays for the rest of the year will NOT go to qualifying for next year is it better to stay at a second chain to try to get top tier status there too?

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends how much you want to enjoy your Hyatt status vs how much another chain is worth to you. If you're staying at Park Hyatts I'd enjoy your Globalist benefits. If you're staying at Hyatt Places where the benefits are near nothing then I'd go for credit on another chain

    Hey Chris! Do you plan on making a video on which hotels have the best rewards program? Reference 0:30. I feel like it's IHG since you can earn points faster as a Spire elite (100% bonus points) without a hotel specific credit card and their hotels seems to require less points per night compared to others. I'm currently a Spire member and thinking about switching to Marriott Bonvoy, but it seems like Titanium and up tier doesn't let you earn as much points and they're hotels seems to require more points to redeem per night. What are your thoughts?

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My opinion it's Marriott because it has the most hotels... so you have the most locations to earn and use your points
      That being said.. if you are only generating points on credit card spend, then I'd consider Hyatt as I think you can rack up the most points on Chase Sapphire Reserve and transfer to Hyatt
