should have ended with aqua lives but ends up in a coma, keep everything with other characters moving on and continuing there carers until years later when ruby performs at the dome it is playing on tv in aqua hospital room and hearing it helps him to finally wake up, he smiles seeing that ruby got her dream and series ends would also make it so series started with ai songs helping her in hospital and end with ruby sings helping aqua in hospital room. anything else after fans can interoperate themes like ships and everyone's careers
This reminds me of another mangaka who decided to kill off a main character at the midpoint of a series instead of going the route of a girl who lost her memories due to said accident.
I think Aka loses interest after the fifth Volume, gets an idea for a new series, immediately focuses on new series, Publisher reminds him to finish previous work, he finishes it in a half assed way, returns to new work, finishes fifth Volume, gets bored, gets new series idea. Rinse and repeat.
And then he might get upset when fans decide to not read his new stuff. I’m not a big OnK fan but readers can tell. We’re not stupid. And why should the readers get invested or take it seriously when the creators don’t? I totally get losing inspiration. Take a break then. Because this behavior is not good for his work in the long run.
Well the author can totally fix it by making Aqua reincarnated for a 2nd time as Miyako's child and Ruby will notice that her dead brother comes back from the dead, thank god (goddess) 😁.
Seriously though, I think 'Love is War' slow-burned the ending. His publisher might have pressured him to keep going longer than he was comfortable with. Life imitating art and vice-versa. 😕
Seriously that's how it ends? I was hoping for something like - after aqua dies he sees Ai and they will have a small conversation and Ai says something to aqua which will get aqua very emotional and stuff? and he doesn't regret as much as before?he gets a little peace of his own? Edit: like that scene in the anime where aqua cries imaging Ai is alive.
@@kamrunnesa2788 it’s actually sad af we didn’t get to see Ai at all in the end. No afterlife, no message from Ruby’s dvd, and nothing at all. Some sort of vision with Aqua and Ai in the afterlife would’ve been so peak 😭
@@kcknowshowtoplay4302 Well nobody wants to know what in the world that girl yaps about anymore. Im just sayin something like that would have made the ending at least satisfying for us. :')
Taiki realizing he has one family left when he said he thought about dying. He’s talking about Ruby. 😭 We definitely need a bonus chapter with Taiki and Ruby, fill the void of the family members they lost.
@ Yeah it threw me off, they met but NEVER interact. Ruby even knows about him but never bother talking to him or realize he looks like Gorou. Only Aqua somehow notices and only him that Taiki interacted. Total miss having that opportunity, and they FINALLY have Taiki realize he has Ruby.
I’m honestly not even gonna bother his next manga just oshi no ko’s ending crushed any idea of buying any of their manga and I don’t think I’m gonna watch the anime after this either.
i agree this ending is horrendous it makes the store look pointless because nothing changed sarina was dying in her previous life and in the next she is dead on the inside
Wasn’t it due to time constraints though? He did warn everyone beforehand it would be messy and not what was planned after all. Even with the extra ending it wasn’t going to be a fix for everything.
Sounds like Aka really hates Ruby. She's just stuck in a loop of lies. And this coming from her first incarnation of a dying girl with cancer, now she's a dead girl walking.
I didn't mind the art of the bonus pages that much since it seems similar to the art that are in the volumes itself in the short bonus content that lasts a few pages. I do really like MEMcho being the narrator for the chapter as its like (I think) the only time she gets to be the narrator as it helps give out a perspective of how she feels that somehow feels welcoming (yet again she needed more screentime so I'm just happy in general about that)
It should have been easy to make up good ending for Oshi no ko The sea is not that complicated. It’s a simple story telling that revenge is bad type of story. It shouldn’t have been that difficult to write an ending for it my hero and JJK are far more complicated series than Oshi no ko not everything in my hero and JJK would’ve been resolved because their series is far more complicated but the same problem should not have happened to oshi no ko this series is very simple to follow. How does this manga has far worst ending than those series it’s crazy to see that this series got a worst ending then MHA and JJK all they had to do was let Aqua live, and let him live happily for the rest of his life with his loved ones that was the whole point of the series. Revenge was never the point of the series. It was all about aqua getting over his mothers, death, and letting go of revenge and living happily with his family and loved ones that would’ve been a better ending a tragic ending does not work for a series like this
THANK YOU, that’s what I’ve been saying for a while now a tragic ending doesn’t fit with this story because it’s about moving on from revenge and finding the will to live unfortunately the ending was the complete opposite of that.
Luckily you're not a writer. Lmao MHA and JJK are shonen targeted for teens while Oshi no Ko is seinen for young adults. Stick to your shonen shows if you want escapism from reality cuz seinens are more like "be an adult and accept what happened then move on" type of shows.
Tbh, MHA wasn’t tooo bad, JJK was kinda expected. (Was foreshadowed for like a month.) Oshi no ko was kinda unexpected, but let’s see how it ages. (Maybe we look back on it better, or it just gets worst.) It could be that the author(s) want to do a twist ending, but their story writing wasn’t as good as people thought, so it ended up being ass. Honestly MHA’s ending wasn’t too bad. (Yeah deku being a fast food worker is funny as hell, but he did become the no.1 hero, and ultimately killed All for one, and with that, he also ended his term, untill the people around him found a way to bring him back from retirement, letting him live the life as a hero, while also not carrying the burden of the past, or the burden of one for all, allowing him, and anyone to be a hero.) JJK is what was expected of a battle shonen. (It had the same problems as OG Naruto, with a lot of plot holes, and not a lot of character development, but worst since in last arc, everyone just brought back everyone like nothing happened :/ The whole series was gassed on two things: deaths, and fights, and one of those things was pretty ass, so when u take deaths out, the series kinda just fucking deflated like a balloon. Ending was what I expected from Gege, wished it was better, but it was unsatisfying as fuck man, Why does Gojo’s ideologies live through yuji, and we end it with him telling that to a random dude stalking an Onlyfans girl??? It’s not even the fact the ending is bad, it’s just that the series itself was bad, and it just made the ending worst: Instead of clearing the plot holes set up since the beginning of culling games, he just circle jerked the fucking sukuna fight, and it wasn’t even good, since it didn’t explain most of the important plot holes, and basically rehashed what was already known, like wth. -why did he expect us to care for Yuki? -what was the whole point of yuta going to kill Kenjaku? Why not someone else? Why did kenjaku never steal the 6 eyes in his 1000 years of life? -how did yuta get back into his body? -what was in the soul book Yuki had? -what happened to the dichotomy of the 3 big families? -also, did anyone care about nobara and her eventual return?? Like those are the first couple of things that come to mind that wern’t addressed in the ending chapters, and it kinda pissed me off, especially since theirs even more, but it’s been like 3-4months since the ending, and I really don’t care.) Oshi no ko I personally don’t read, so I have no clue, (same with MHA, but I just watched recapes from Vocal pineapple for that ngl .-. ) I say give it some time, but I don’t think anything can really save this ending man.. I don’t get what it is currently that make many stories end like ass, but my two cents is probably just wanting to “spin” the happy ending genre into something else. We expect all the characters to have a happy ending, and live their lives to the best, that’s the basic “good ending” Like I’ve seen good rewrites for the ending of Oshi no Ko, with one being that aqua survives, but is stuck in a coma. Personally I like this ending more, since it makes it run full circle, and it brings it back to chapter one. Not good, but hopeful, and makes more sense. MHA’s ending probably does need some tweaking, but I think it’s fine. Along with all the diddlers, crypto scams, and bad releases, anime endings have also his rock bottom. Let’s hope that in the future, it just gets better. (That, or you support the higher-rated manga on mangadex, since those are a fun time ngl.)
@@ZephyrRetro Her life aint her career I mean shes not gonna die after she stops being an idol ? unless you mean shes gonna kill herself to join her brother
Dojomojo the problem is that aqua's whole double suicide plan was so she could keep being an idol which is why it's so stupid, if aqua just hired a detective or got a confession from his dad's partner in crime his dad would have gone to death row too so like the ending is just abysmal
How did we get here? How did Oshi no ko went from being one of the best series ever from having one of the worst standings of all time this new bonus chapter made things even worse. First of all the art quality looks really bad. It feels like someone draw it in a Microsoft paint in under two hours and the last chapter does not fix anything. In fact, it just made things worse. He does not add anything to the story other than pointless exposition man this series fell off with the ending. I wish this does not happen man what went wrong are used to love the cities man sad that this is how it ended hopefully the anime can fix it 😔
Oshi No Ko is a complete disappointment. Seriously, how did we end up like this? The first episode of the anime was a masterpiece. The reason for that was Ai. An idol who became a mother at the age of 16 and spent her life with lies. Then Ruby and Aqua. Ai was the one who made the manga read, the anime gain attention, and even the opening become popular globally. Then Ai died which was a very good decision because no one would look at Ruby and Aqua's story while she was there. And the manga is completely TRASH. So is this onlyr Aka's fault? No toxic fans are also to blame for this. "Kana is the best girl!" "No, Akane is the best girl!" Shut tf up. there was only one girl who was the best in the anime, and that was Ai And the ending...Aqua died (as expected) "AquaxKana AquaxAkane" I would have liked Ruby to be different from Ai at least. How? By not being a star in her eyes at all. Yes, that way she would be an idol who doesn't lie, who knows what love means. Different from her mother. (Sorry for some grammar faults, english is not my first language)
No like it’s so annoying that a huge chunk of the fanbase is kanabros and akanebros squabbling, i’ma kana fan fs i enjoy her as a character but like shipping in general can’t be the only thing we’re talking about 💀 it’s okay to ship but like that can’t be the majority and toxic as well 😭
Ur so real for that wanting to see ruby become different from her mother because ruby becoming like a clone of her contradicts her character development wanting not to become like Ai and actually tell the truth
@Doodle6151im so done with oshi no ko fandom (I'm also Kana fan lol, but I don't do toxic ships and I don't blame Akane fans). And I hope I explained it well because my English is not good 😭
I love oshi no ko from the bottom of my heart but it's such a shame that it had to end this way. Not that the ending was bad but it had so much potential 😭
man I can’t even find any part of the chapter online but god damn Aka burnt the kitchen down. I agree that it felt flat and it was just yap of the major themes of the story. Instead of just trying to rush to the end, he should’ve just done so in a slow way imo if he wants to keep adding bullshit that doesn’t help us understand why he wrote this mess. I’m not trying to hate Aka but he’s really just missing so many opportunities to try and at least provide a satisfying ending to his story. Honestly, I’ll take what we can get until we actually get nothing left, but man Aka needs a break from writing manga considering how cooked his series is man. But, Ty for your reviews and I hope to see some OnK content still in the future even if it isn’t as often as the chapter reviews. There is still many plot holes that could be filled such as parts of Rubys life, tsukuyomis impact, and more but we can’t get whatever we want all the time. Aka really needs a hug man I hope he’s ok after writing such a mess
@@Rainbecooked yeah I couldn’t find the chapter anywhere besides Donut’s Twitter unfortunately. Really was just another tap session speedrunning the themes unfortunately. Only positive really was getting to see a bit more into the future for some of the characters.
Yeah I’m gonna honest, I wasn’t really feeling any of the Dialogue in this extra chapter, it all just felt very repetitive and didn’t really have anything NEW to say. 8:06 ESPECIALLY after this absolute TRAVESTY of a line!!! 8:06 Like dude, what the actual hell does Aka mean by this And I know this might sound offensive, but with how ugly the art is, I just can’t take anything in this chapter Seriously!!!
@@MarkITEXE the art definitely did not help how this chapter turned out. Not that it was bad, but it just didn’t feel right with whatever Aka was trying to cook here. Bro just threw all his depressed thoughts into the chapter ☠️
Actually, during an interview with Mengo, the mangaka of oshi no ko, she actually really wanted to push for the incest ending and extend the series, but Aka stopped her constantly.
Thats why she didnt do her art style in the final chapter like how she does...i think she should quit and do things her own way,u know like how she should follow her heart...and her dreams~♥︎
@@halvik9024 given the mangaka is the creator of yuzu no honkai then no wonder. So that feels forced and just awkward incest situations are actually the mangaka's ideas huh
i can see him wanting to move away from aqua and ruby and having kana and akane being the main focus for a sequel series.. akane really ended up being a huge fan fav for almost everyone i talk to about this series
Even though the special bonus chapter edition wasn't what I expected it is true what they say that no one stays relevant for too long in the entertainment industry, things are always changing, also Tsukuyomi was nothing more then a big fat yapper to the very end.😂 But thank you Zephyr and Donut for the special bonus chapter review seriously keep up the great work guys.☺️👍
if they weren't going to make her do anything, then they shouldn't have added her and make it a mystery. In another manga which also had a random god character, they atleast do something post changing mc life
@ZephyrRetro, I just hope that when the time comes, the anime will have an ending that was different or similar to the manga source. I bet the animators of the anime version must have read the ending and must have concerns about. May they not fail for sure... As for the live action version, well, it's up to you and anyone else to have thoughts of it. Also, in 9:03, where you mentioned of a sequel, who knows, but maybe in the future there will be with Mengo as the author of that series since she put much love in there. Now, Aka is out for his new manga series, I bet Mengo will do it in her own way.
I feel like horikoshi deserves the biggest apology. The extra chapter added to the volume release makes it one of the best shounene endings weve had in ages imo
It definitely wasn’t one of the best shounen endings as there were still many problems. But it did somewhat fix one big issue so it’s an improvment to say the least
@@FireUpMusic no man I disagree with you. He definitely deserves an apology after the garbage ending that I saw in Oshi no ko he definitely deserves the biggest apology of all time
I can't help but wonder what was I expecting and how Aka could meet them. Rewatching the series now, I feel differently than how I started. Oshi No Ko was always a revenge story about Aqua, it was where everything started and it was where everything will end, just as how Aqua swore and predicted by himself. It's so incredibly poetic to overestimate this series when everyone knew this ending was a certain possibility, the story is amazing still but the anime is even more amazing
I seriously don't understand why people think the ending is bad. It's about him and his regret from the very start. He regrets that Sarina couldn't fulfil her dream, he regrets Ai's death. Kana and Akane's involvement with him showed him the life he could've lived, but in the end, he choose Sarina's happiness. Let Hikaru Kamiki live, and he might kill Ruby. Report him to the police? He will kill Ruby before they got enough proof to jail him. Kill him and live? Yeah that would destroy Ruby's dream career as an idol, he ain't risking that. It has always been shown that Aqua has no regard to his own life and safety. It's honestly refreshing seeing an ending that truly are in character
@AnnXYZ666 I can't say I'm not disappointed at Aka himself, Kaguya sama was a nice exception to bitter endings, and I sincerely hoped he would do the same to OnK. Aqua's death is truly tragic for the long life he could've led, but I also wouldn't be able to imagine a scenario where he could explain himself and lived the rest of his years out quietly. I guess this is where idol otakus are separated from normal people with fortuitous lives?
@@randyrandom3358 The ending is actually good, tbh. What't bad (kinda) is the set up. Probably, what makes people feel like it's bad because in a few chapter before 160, it's shown that Aqua is ready to move on, to look forward to life. But at chapter 160 he clearly changed his mind. Sure, he can prevent Ruby's death this time, but what about later? Even going to the police to get him caught would be risky, as what we have known so far, he can manipulate people to do his bidding. Who knows who will he send from behind the bar to kill Ruby. Aqua, or rather Amamiya Gorou wouldn't take that slight chance. He'd rather die and taking even a little slightest bit of chance that would destroys Ruby's dream.
Agreed with so much of what you said… I’m still hurt how Aka ended what used to be one of my favorite series. The kitchen went up in smoke while trying to still grab on and hold onto the smoke. Aka originally said they weren’t going to show the aftermath of other characters’ stories so I guess tried to mend how people felt about the ending but still failed. It did add some stuff to the story but Memcho narrating was not it. I’m honestly so sad and disappointed and have no plans to continue any of Aka’s works from now on til I know how they end…
I REALLY hope the anime gives us a better ending. I could already imagine an extremely angry fan trying to murder either the Author or the animators if they give the anime a bad ending also.
It would have been much better if they had just shown Aqua falling into a coma, and then, after several months, he opens his eyes to see Ruby, Akane, and Kana around him, ending with an open ending. The revenge story is already over, so maybe the anime will change its ending due to the criticism the manga is receiving.
Aqua: *"Was I a good boy?"* Ai: *"No. You were the best boy I ever had"* If only it was the meeting between Aqua and Ai, we all would cry and accepted the bitter ending 😭😭
Guys the biggest problem with the ending was not hammering home how bad ruby’s life would be, but now they have. It would have been nice to see ruby come to terms with the truth of Ai and have her life be revealed as hell that way but hey it could’ve been worse. The only other real issues with the ending is the way aqua died and shipping but the former is forgivable of jarring as Oshi No Ko is mainly about the darkness in the entertainment industry and this bonus chapter recovered that, and as for shipping, that is literally a fan concept and at least a bad ship (Aqua X Ruby) didn’t sail. Which is probably why Mengo was kicked, she wanted incest which contrary to popular belief would make the manga even worse, even if the art wasn’t as good at usual it was still good and I completely understand Mengo’s absence, I hope she sorts herself out and recovers tho cause glorifying Aqua X Ruby is giving serious Alabama vibes
5:59 it remind me psycho pass. Makishima's words. Everyone is alone, everyone is empty. People do not need other people. You can fird replacement for any talent, and any relations. Why does she speak of things change, and she have to stay back ground? Taiki remembers, that he has no family? Is ruby dead than? It seems soulles twins did, what they revived for, and then they gone. Akane's okkult interests, is it possible, that it some how connected to twins lives. She finally finds out about goro and Sarina? What would be in that novel?
I literally got goosebumps while watching this... I wasn't expecting a cooking with so much good ingredients be so burnt. It could've been better if the fire was put up just right but still though this dish leaves a bitter taste in your mouth that you never tasted from other dishes before and it's one of a kind. There wasn't enough Ruby panel even though she deserves some chapters to express herself. I was expecting a scene where there was a whole flashbacks of good memories and then the ending of it will rewind to when Ai's and Aqua's death. In the end it's still the same, someone still ended up lying just to cover up the sadness from the sacrifice of the people they love for their happiness...
Depressing, but it sad fact of reality how easily thing fade now a days. Also good to know Kana doing well at least. Sadly, Ruby stuck being the sister with a brother complex trope like most anime and manga.
Man it truly feels as if Akasaka really just got annoyed with the story and wanted to wrap it up as fast as possible, but even though the ending was not good, I still love Oshi no Ko! The story was nice and every character was somehow relatable (the songs from the anime are bangers also) I'm happy to have been here for the ride!
Just when I thought I was out... They pull me back in *Edit THE ENDING IS STILL BULLSHIT *Edit 2 AARRRGGGGH I EDITED THE COMMENT AFTER IT GOT HEARTED BECAUSE TH-cam DIDN'T SHOW ME I BLAME AKA AKASAKA FOR THIS
I will not be reading aka’s next manga if this is how he ended his last two mangoes I can’t even imagine how will end his latest one love is war had a very unsatisfying ending and Oshi no ko had a very bad at the what are the worst ideas I have a receipt I can’t even imagine how his latest manga would end I will not be reading anything he puts out from now onwards is Dumaguete releasing in 2025. Yeah, I will not be reading that Oshi no ko Will be the last manga I ever read of aka at hopefully, I never have to see him at his work ever again. He betrayed our trust. He betrayed his audience, and overall gave us the worse Time with this happening, I hope his next manga fails and gets canceled 😡

Okay what is the fucking purpose of crow girl at all? It seems like wanted to justify the reborn explanation but honestly they didn't need to add her in if she wasn't going to play a bigger role in all of this. Yes it's a tragic Manga but her being there just feels like there was a bigger purpose and instead became a fly on the wall not really contributing to the story
well, i am kinda dissapointed beacouse i though we will get more of Ruby's perspective of things and how she got over Aqua's death but still it is interesting to see where everyone is after the ending. I hope one day we will get that closure.
It this how it ends this sucks man I thought of more, despite not liking the ending and the bonus chapter oshi no ko will always have a special place in my hearth ❤
I don't think this chapter was meant to add more to the story, Aka just wanted to address the viewer directly and go over the most important points covered throughout the manga. He also gave us a nice farewell to some of our favorite characters by checking in on them.
I guess it was done through Memcho because she's the only one from the main girls who can do so? This chapter's purpose probably wasn't to add anything, but rather give a complete closure by showing a brief glimpse of the future. No matter who is gone, the world will always continue on. That type of thing. But yeah, it's a depressing end no doubt.
I was really hoping for something clever about the brackets in the title since it’s usually for referring to media within media. I thought it would be something like “Oshi No Ko” is the name of a movie Aqua left behind before carrying out his plan and the bonus chapter would be the characters watching/responding to it (which could be the reason why everyone moved on so quickly with a lot of motivation to be successful). It could have also been something related to the DVD Ai left for Ruby. Nah it was just Mem’s channel name….was Mem really that important to the story that she is the canon source of the title? I was really enjoying the series, but the last leg of the story is comically bad. It feels like Oshi No Ko was a revenge story between Aka and the reader. Unfortunately I was picking up the English volumes on release but now I don’t plan on getting anymore since I won’t reread this. Going to avoid anything with Aka’s name in the future.
Looks like it’s up to the anime to fix it I really hope the studio looks at all the backlash off the fence and change the ending for the anime I really hope but anime change the ending of the series I hope in the anime we get an alternate ending where Aqueeda lives, and lives happily with his family lying to me, and needs to change the ending. Otherwise that all effort that they put in the anime will go to waste The manga ending is trash, so it’s up to that Anime to fix it
I'll see yall in Oshi No Ko 2 : Next Generation Btw Zephyr are you planning on covering the Live Adaptation seems like they're going to fully adapt the whole manga
honestly forgot it was even coming out after buying 7 volumes to support this mangaka for what i thought was an amazing manga/anime just to get this spit in the mouth ending chapters honestly the biggest disappointment ive had in recent memory i cant believe i tried to get so many people to watch it in no world would i have thought the manga ending would be worse than the english dub for the anime but here we are. (ps some dub are good and even better)
When everyone was expecting onve very especific thing, it doesn't happen and instead Aka shows that he truly dragged everyone on mud and screw them not only Aqua fans fuck that guy honestly, I feel bad for the live action and anime adaptations
That’s how it ends and what happened to the art quality the Art Quality dropped 95% this feels like someone drew the last days in a Microsoft paint under two hours. This feels like it was written in just two hours. What went wrong aka truly is the king of bad ending man this series fell off I was standing was good man, but sadly, this is how it ends all my four years of reading this only to be disappointed at the end. What a disappointment man I am disappointed in aka he used to be one of my favorite authors and now he’s my least favorite goodbye Oshi no ko you will be missed Hopefully they can fix it.
Holy crap your upload schedule is insane you upload so quickly 100% my new fav ❤❤❤ (btw I’m not a bot) please remember me when you get famous I will always be here!!! (Second edit) don’t rush your self to upload 🙏
Had to rush this one unfortunately since i tried waiting for a good translation, but hopefully I can get my schedule back to normal soon. Won’t forget you either ✊
So...this is what happens after i started to suddenly love anime for the first time ever since 2023...where oshi no ko finally becomes the first fave unlike those ive seen but as soon as i feel connected by it because. Of how it relates to us,it leaves so fast? I had to watch oshi no ko last summer....in bangladesh ,in my vacation...and this is how life turns upside down???? Sorry..i might leave half of anime..like become a half fave only for oshi no ko,true beauty, kaguya sama;love is war, and maybe hatsune miku but will also be a quitter...which i might avoid anime news, but ill still keep a way for characters. Bdays, like i do.... But...yea,this is for a fresh new start...ill still keep u subbed as a half anime lover...but atleast i have kdrama, and etc... but omg...the live action of oshi no ko is something i might get used to...illl even watch kaguya sama: love is war live action... ill never forget about these two animes, live action,mangas..as long as i live~♥︎
Hope or inspiration... or perhaps cohesion. You might be right. It seems like some event slapped Aka sideways, and the focus was lost. We still have the novel though, I'm looking forward to it. I won't forget the brilliant writing that brought us up to this point. Let's hope it's good.
This chapter makes this story more complete in my opinion. But it's still not enough. 😂 I want more of Ruby and her previous family. Hey! Jokes on both creators. Marina's current two alive children could become Ruby's fans and when they learn who Ruby really is, they will kill their both parents for leaving Sarina behind. 😱🤣 Great review. The chapter is for me 8/10.
Killing Aqua just didn’t make sense to me lol. Bro stabbed himself and basically committed suicide just to kill his father. Like what’s the point, like everything Aqua been through and his supposedly genius mind decides dying with his father is smartest choice? Aqua’s death would’ve sadder if Hikaru stabbed him, because it would’ve been more tragic. But him giving himself a fatal wound was unnecessary. He basically left Ruby to suffer for the rest of her life. While Hikaru just dies?
Yeah the ending is very illogical in my mind, considering Aquas development and his character. Fundamentally, the story was never about revenge in my eyes, it was about Aqua getting over his revenge or at least over self-destructive revenge. The whole Aqua stabbing himself to protect Rubies future doesn't make any sense from beginning to end. Hikaru talks about how Rubies career would be over if Aqua killed him, which is fundamentally illogical : How would anybody know that Aqua killed him? Hikaru killed multiple people, and nobody knew that he's a killer, so why would they know if Aqua kills him? Furthermore even if Aqua stabs himself and kills Hikaru alongside himself, how would the police and forensics know that Hikaru stabbed Aqua with the intent to kill him and not self defense? Furthermore if you stab somebody with the intent to kill why would you just stab them once and not multiple times? Additionally Ruby told Aqua that the reason she ever wanted to be an idol and enjoyed it was him so how is killing himself protecting Rubies future in any way. The premise of him killing himself for Rubies future is just an asspull and a sorry excuse to end the story. Then there are the many loose ends throughout the whole story: 1. crow girl, what was her purpose besides random exposition that wasn't necessary. She mourns Aquas death and how sad the life that he lives has been. She in my eyes is in many ways responsible for the fact that Aqua continued his revenge and died in the end. She is the one who forced Ruby to start her revenge, which further enhanced Aquas revenge and pressured him into thinking that revenge was necessary. 2.Aqua/Kana , Aqua/Akane ships: Plenty of people will say that these romances don't matter and that the story was never about that, which is frankly just a lie. The story puts plenty of emphasis on these love relationships. Many chapters are spent on them so how could one say that they are irrelevant to the story. Akanes and Kanaa characters where both in my eyes handled badly over time starting with chapter 98 or so everything started going downhill. After Akane tried to kill Hikaru and Aqua stopped her when she fell down the stairs, her character got pushed into the total background after this event. In the last 50 chapters up to this point Akane was built up to be a main character or at least very important side character next to Aqua, but that just suddeny all got thrown out of the window. From that point onAkane very rarely appears in the story and we don't see much of her. Kana: Her character was to be blunt, pointless. She never added anything to the revenge plot nor to anything else. Aqua is portrayed to be in love with her but we are enver shown any reasons why he would love her, Kana crush/feelings for Aqua make sense but him loving her do not. Every 20 or 30 chapters we spend a couple of chapters on some Kana drama, I feel like that was the entire purpose of her character to just add extra drama. In the time when Aqua and Akane where in the relationship, it would have been logical and well done if Kana would have gotten over her feelings for Aqua. Instead, from beginning to end, her character revolves around Aqua which damages herself as a character. Towards the end of the manga, when Aqua and Kana play catch again she proclaims that her new goal in life is to be Aquas star essentially, which is just idiotic and smears dirt on Kana as a character. Anyway , sorry for the long rant.
Oshi No Ko is just one example of how tragic AND stupid story can be done in a shit way possible Mem literally implying about "people quicky moves on to the next big thing" like lmao wtf was that? so summary even Ruby is quickly forgotten by people? like what's left for her aside from loneliness of losing people important to her? thank you for your choice anyway Aqua and don't forget that he also ensuring that su1cide can solve all your problem, thank you bro for nothing but painful experience for your sis Idk, maybe Aka just hates Oshi No Ko lmao....
Akane cameo in Dandadan confirmed? 🤣 Anyway, I love the ending of this series, it's a seinen not a shonen. It may be unfortunate that Aqua needs to sacrifice but that's the only choice he could think of to not tarnish Ruby's dream of becoming an idol. Every story doesn't need a great ending, It's the author's opinion and interpretation that is important for me. I don't really care about what other readers WANT to happen for the story.
should have ended with aqua lives but ends up in a coma, keep everything with other characters moving on and continuing there carers until years later when ruby performs at the dome it is playing on tv in aqua hospital room and hearing it helps him to finally wake up, he smiles seeing that ruby got her dream and series ends
would also make it so series started with ai songs helping her in hospital and end with ruby sings helping aqua in hospital room. anything else after fans can interoperate themes like ships and everyone's careers

This reminds me of another mangaka who decided to kill off a main character at the midpoint of a series instead of going the route of a girl who lost her memories due to said accident.
I think Aka loses interest after the fifth Volume, gets an idea for a new series, immediately focuses on new series, Publisher reminds him to finish previous work, he finishes it in a half assed way,
returns to new work, finishes fifth Volume, gets bored, gets new series idea. Rinse and repeat.
Very bad habit of his it seems
And then he might get upset when fans decide to not read his new stuff. I’m not a big OnK fan but readers can tell. We’re not stupid. And why should the readers get invested or take it seriously when the creators don’t? I totally get losing inspiration. Take a break then. Because this behavior is not good for his work in the long run.
Well the author can totally fix it by making Aqua reincarnated for a 2nd time as Miyako's child and Ruby will notice that her dead brother comes back from the dead, thank god (goddess) 😁.
Miyako: "Ruby, stop kissing the baby!" (Lol! Liked that one @unnamedlegeon!) ❤
Seriously though, I think 'Love is War' slow-burned the ending. His publisher might have pressured him to keep going longer than he was comfortable with. Life imitating art and vice-versa. 😕
My canon ending is that pieyon rescued aqua and they all lived happily ever after.
I agree
Perfect ending
See aka akasa was this that hard to think...
Seriously that's how it ends? I was hoping for something like - after aqua dies he sees Ai and they will have a small conversation and Ai says something to aqua which will get aqua very emotional and stuff? and he doesn't regret as much as before?he gets a little peace of his own?
Edit: like that scene in the anime where aqua cries imaging Ai is alive.

i agree this ending is horrendous it makes the store look pointless because nothing changed sarina was dying in her previous life and in the next she is dead on the inside
Sounds like he hates women who fall in love. Kana and Akane were also emotionally broken after this ending, not just Ruby.
The whole mangas Ruby torture I swear
Nah, Akane and Kana had their spotlight on their crush on Aqua. Akane knew what was going on and Kana also had the gist of it.
I didn't mind the art of the bonus pages that much since it seems similar to the art that are in the volumes itself in the short bonus content that lasts a few pages.
I do really like MEMcho being the narrator for the chapter as its like (I think) the only time she gets to be the narrator as it helps give out a perspective of how she feels that somehow feels welcoming (yet again she needed more screentime so I'm just happy in general about that)
We've seen authors cooked but this guy legit burned his kitchen down fr
Thank you! Thank you so much!
(Was foreshadowed for like a month.)
Oshi no ko was kinda unexpected, but let’s see how it ages. (Maybe we look back on it better, or it just gets worst.)
It could be that the author(s) want to do a twist ending, but their story writing wasn’t as good as people thought, so it ended up being ass.
Honestly MHA’s ending wasn’t too bad. (Yeah deku being a fast food worker is funny as hell, but he did become the no.1 hero, and ultimately killed All for one, and with that, he also ended his term, untill the people around him found a way to bring him back from retirement, letting him live the life as a hero, while also not carrying the burden of the past, or the burden of one for all, allowing him, and anyone to be a hero.)
JJK is what was expected of a battle shonen. (It had the same problems as OG Naruto, with a lot of plot holes, and not a lot of character development, but worst since in last arc, everyone just brought back everyone like nothing happened :/
The whole series was gassed on two things: deaths, and fights, and one of those things was pretty ass, so when u take deaths out, the series kinda just fucking deflated like a balloon.
Ending was what I expected from Gege, wished it was better, but it was unsatisfying as fuck man,
Why does Gojo’s ideologies live through yuji, and we end it with him telling that to a random dude stalking an Onlyfans girl???
It’s not even the fact the ending is bad, it’s just that the series itself was bad, and it just made the ending worst:
Instead of clearing the plot holes set up since the beginning of culling games, he just circle jerked the fucking sukuna fight, and it wasn’t even good, since it didn’t explain most of the important plot holes, and basically rehashed what was already known, like wth.
Like those are the first couple of things that come to mind that wern’t addressed in the ending chapters, and it kinda pissed me off, especially since theirs even more, but it’s been like 3-4months since the ending, and I really don’t care.)
Oshi no ko I personally don’t read, so I have no clue, (same with MHA, but I just watched recapes from Vocal pineapple for that ngl .-. )
I say give it some time, but I don’t think anything can really save this ending man..
I don’t get what it is currently that make many stories end like ass, but my two cents is probably just wanting to “spin” the happy ending genre into something else.
We expect all the characters to have a happy ending, and live their lives to the best, that’s the basic “good ending”
Like I’ve seen good rewrites for the ending of Oshi no Ko, with one being that aqua survives, but is stuck in a coma.
“We can only shine for a few years .“
I took that as Ruby’s idol career will only last for a few years. Well that’s a bummer.

"Kana is the best girl!" "No, Akane is the best girl!" Shut tf up. there was only one girl who was the best in the anime, and that was Ai
And the ending...Aqua died (as expected) "AquaxKana AquaxAkane" I would have liked Ruby to be different from Ai at least. How? By not being a star in her eyes at all. Yes, that way she would be an idol who doesn't lie, who knows what love means. Different from her mother.
(Sorry for some grammar faults, english is not my first language)

Ur so real for that wanting to see ruby become different from her mother because ruby becoming like a clone of her contradicts her character development wanting not to become like Ai and actually tell the truth
@Doodle6151im so done with oshi no ko fandom (I'm also Kana fan lol, but I don't do toxic ships and I don't blame Akane fans). And I hope I explained it well because my English is not good 😭

@@AnnXYZ666you’re slow

I hope the anime distance itself from the manga but I doubt it since that only happens if the otakus in Japan hate Aka's direction.
I don't think this chapter was meant to add more to the story, Aka just wanted to address the viewer directly and go over the most important points covered throughout the manga.
He also gave us a nice farewell to some of our favorite characters by checking in on them.
rip oshi no ko
it was one of my favorites 😔
ngl even though the ending was meh idek how it would've ended in a satisfying but not boring or stupid way
Maybe crow girl gives aqua another chance? IDK
I had hope. I had some hope. But man that really ended it all.. Welp. I guess it is what it is..
Yea accept it 😌
I guess it was done through Memcho because she's the only one from the main girls who can do so?
This chapter's purpose probably wasn't to add anything, but rather give a complete closure by showing a brief glimpse of the future.
No matter who is gone, the world will always continue on.
That type of thing.
But yeah, it's a depressing end no doubt.
Bro...i still cannot believe the fumble we just witnessed fpr the end of this...
why fumble??
where do yall find the special chapter? what app or what website it is in manga plus?
I found it on Donut’s Twitter. It’s prolly still there, but I haven’t seen it anywhere else for some reason
This truly was an ending of all time.
The percentage of his phone symbolizes the state he is in 😂
Lmfao ur right 😂
I was really hoping for something clever about the brackets in the title since it’s usually for referring to media within media.
No matter what every one else says this is still my favorite and always will be
I think Oshi no ko is the best anime ever. I see the ending but idc.
I hate and love but. So disappointing the art and the music is amazing what a shame the writing sucks.
Mha ending: pretty decent
Jjk ending: proving he's the biggest hater
Oshi ending: funniest shit I've seen.
Accurate 😭😂
All 3 had major issues
Where can I watch this chapter???
On Donut’s Twitter. Haven’t found it anywhere else yet
Otherwise that all effort that they put in the anime will go to waste The manga ending is trash, so it’s up to that Anime to fix it
I really hope that the anime fixes the ending by changing it to aqua living
I'll see yall in Oshi No Ko 2 : Next Generation
Btw Zephyr are you planning on covering the Live Adaptation seems like they're going to fully adapt the whole manga
Prolly not gonna cover it
I don’t care if he’s dead,we should’ve seen Ai and Aqua reuniting in death.
That’s the least he can do. I mean aqua’s death made no sense but if he wanted to do it anyway the least he could do is that.
Seeing them in the afterlife together would’ve been so good 🥲
honestly forgot it was even coming out after buying 7 volumes to support this mangaka for what i thought was an amazing manga/anime just to get this spit in the mouth ending chapters honestly the biggest disappointment ive had in recent memory i cant believe i tried to get so many people to watch it in no world would i have thought the manga ending would be worse than the english dub for the anime but here we are. (ps some dub are good and even better)
This bonus chapter made me feel so empty.
It was definitely one of the bonus chapters of all time
When everyone was expecting onve very especific thing, it doesn't happen and instead Aka shows that he truly dragged everyone on mud and screw them not only Aqua fans
fuck that guy honestly, I feel bad for the live action and anime adaptations
Imagine there’s just a black hole next to ai and aquas star =hikaru
Oshinoko was the first manga I ever read i was so sad about the ending i started reading it after ep 1 of the anime and this ep just made me feel sad
Taiki is my fav character in the series. I really wanted to see him, Aqua and Ruby or at least him and Ruby have some bonding time.
6:40 THATS ACTUALLY CRAZY LMAOOOO
We can only hope that the anime gets an original ending instead of going down the same route as the manga.
Hope so bro
Aqua and ruby forever ❤❤❤
AquRuby best ship regardless 🗿🍷
Wait so will there be more bonus chapters????
Don't know
Another one hasn’t been announced yet
This ending was god tier like Mem cho getting screen time for once is awesome so I’d give this ending a -10 mem chos out of 10
@@Umbreon650 Literally took until the bonus ch for Mem to get some relevant screen time ☠️☠️
@@ZephyrRetro it was a interesting screentime for mem...but thats not how we all wanted...
6:39 giggled
Maybe the author writing a new manga being stressed with weekly realeses. Is symbolic of aka akasaka with oshi no ko
The only hope we have left is probably the anime and or live action: Final act.
This Manga should've just been a revenge story.
Aqua avenges his mother, the end. How fucking hard is that?
Bruh…I can’t anymore, I’m sticking to Jojos, good grief
Hope or inspiration... or perhaps cohesion. You might be right. It seems like some event slapped Aka sideways, and the focus was lost. We still have the novel though, I'm looking forward to it. I won't forget the brilliant writing that brought us up to this point. Let's hope it's good.
where to read this chapter ???? cant find it anywhere !!!!
nice video btw 🙂
Should be on Donut’s Twitter. Only place I could find it
This chapter makes this story more complete in my opinion. The chapter is for me 8/10.
bro where did you find this bonus chapter to read at

Where can I read this?
Donut’s Twitter was the only place I could find it
Killing Aqua just didn’t make sense to me lol.
I’m fully convinced the whole mangas Ruby torture
The only way Aka can remind himself now is getting Kana and Akane together on the novel
Honestly I don't actually know what to think of this ending
damn it :( still waiting FOR AQUA AND KANA DAMN ITTTT
Remember y'all when we all thought it was a cute anime on Idols?
....
😭😭
Crazy how all of this fluff is in a bonus chapter. Aqua could've been there for all of it but nah
Oshi No Ko is just one example of how tragic AND stupid story can be done in a shit way possible
Mem literally implying about "people quicky moves on to the next big thing" like lmao wtf was that? so summary even Ruby is quickly forgotten by people? like what's left for her aside from loneliness of losing people important to her? thank you for your choice anyway Aqua and don't forget that he also ensuring that su1cide can solve all your problem, thank you bro for nothing but painful experience for your sis
Idk, maybe Aka just hates Oshi No Ko lmao....
Akane cameo in Dandadan confirmed? 🤣
Anyway, I love the ending of this series, it's a seinen not a shonen.
