I believe your theory about hillbilly is right. At least from day one when I started watching this I felt that he is just a good ole country boy. I’m glad everyone else is finally seeing what I’ve always seen about him 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Improvise, adapt, and overcome. Keeping your sense of humor and enjoying the adventure. And who would’ve thunk the Trekker would have successfully pulled the tow truck home. Your off-road excursions never cease to entertain. Kudos to all of you for your team effort. Great video.
I had a Wagoneer that ate water pumps until someone pointed out that one of the washers was bigger than the other. I never thought such a little bit of weight would throw it off balance, but I replaced all 4 with identical ones and that was the last water pump I ever put on it. It is crazy how much energy you have at that point of rotation. I'm glad you got it back home, I'm really looking forward to seeing that thing done (and my truck would love to get a front bumper that rugged). Another great video, guys! 👍👍
it's 100% the spacer. It has to fit snugly on the center water pump pin and in the fan pin. You need to get a new one that does. that thing spins with a ton of force. You guys are always positive no mater what. its awesome
Water pumps are a real pain! They made so many variations that getting the right one is a miracle! Add to the fact that the factories tend to use up old parts after they changed specifications. I had a 1968 impala with a 327 engine that had factory parts from 3 different year models!
I just removed and disassembled a Transfer Case on a Cub Cadet Volunteer EFI 20HP 2011 Model Year. And let me tell you, Cub Cadet doesnt even offer a Parts Diagram for the Serial Number Range on this machine. Which when i ordered parts, it uses parts off 3 different Models. And it was so frustrating to rebuild that TC simply because of the Hybrid Engineering lol.
I once changed a water pump on an 86 Ford Ranger. As soon as I poured coolant in the radiator, it started pouring out around the shaft on the water pump. Rebuilt water pumps are not necessarily good water pumps.
@@randalltufts3321no they do not. Leather is a manufactured product using animal hide. That hide must be processed, originally using the tan from trees. hence leather tanning .

Dang old Fred.. 100% that spacer is making that fan wipe out the pump. They need to fit hub centric perfectly or that vibration is huge. Great vid great recovery your team luv to laugh its great to watch
In the beginning of the video you reminded me why I hated owning Ford’s. Buying 2 of everything is just what you have to do if you don’t want to keep going back and forth between the parts store and where you happen to break down. Ford rarely used the same parts from one month to the next so it was always such a pain trying to get the right one.
@@mrfunnylookinhayes9088 You’re funny. You can take a crankshaft out of just about any SBC and put it in just about any other SBC. GM is known to use the same parts for many years and in many different models even from cars to their trucks. The best thing ford has going for them is that they’re super safe (because they’re always broke down somewhere it’s hard to get into an accident with them).
Like my friend's Chevy Malibu with "which V6 is it?" If you got the right oil filter, then you got the wrong air filter. If you got the right air filter, you got the wrong throttle body. If you got that right, you got the wrong starter. If you got that right, you got the wrong water pump. And I changed them ALL because they ALL failed. I came to the conclusion that's why Chevy parts are cheaper than for other brands. They need to be replaced more often. Worst 2 vehicles I've ever had to operate were a square body C30 tow truck that needed to be towed by the Ford tow truck quite often. And an S10 that had failures like master cylinder as I approached a red light at 55mph, and the trans input bearing that failed so it was difficult to get it into gear, the bedsides that were cracking a handwidth behind the cab, even though it had never carried a load, and the fold down back seat that still had the factory plastic on it and tore out of the inside of the cab when my 4 year old sat on it. All with less than 8500 miles when we parted company. Or then there was my customer's brand new last year squarebody 4x4 crew cab 454 that went into limp home mode every time it left the home neighborhood until it limped home into the Lemon Law. Or my aunt's new class A motorhome on a GM chassis with 454 that blew the new engine before it got from Burbank to Palm Springs. Should I keep going about Chevies?
That's awesome people taking care of Hillbilly. Thanks guys. I have been pondering ideas of what to get him myself. I suck as coming up with pet names and present ideas lol

I had issues with aftermarket water pumps and fan clutches on my '89 F-250. I made the switch to electric fans and haven't looked back. The 2008-2012 Ford Escape has the perfect dual fan for this radiator, with a built in resistor for low speed. It's almost bolt-in.
Hi Robby 👋. Water pump - I did a similar problem. I put a 460 into my 1978 f150 and I didn't want to buy a new fan clutch for it. ( Old one is off a 400m ). So I drilled out the center hole to fit the fan clutch to fit the water pump. Drove it 40 miles to exhaust shop. Next morning he started it and the fan went into the radiator. Those fan pieces I think must be perfect fit ☺️ Enjoying and laughing all the way 🎉😂
I found out a long time ago that rtv sucks on antifreeze stuff. Use brush tack or spray tack . Even when dry it can get slippery and spit a gasket out. Obviously you had pump problems instead.

Great video!! You're right about it possibly being a defective waterpump. When I was 16 back in the early 80's I had a 69 Camaro SS that was my daily driver that I built to race. I couldn't afford a 2nd vehicle. I had a waterpump that had started leaking a few days before I had a big streetrace that a guy was trailering his car in from out of town. The day before the race I changed the waterpump & did some other maintenance plus a few performance mods to hopefully get little more HP out of it. I cranked it & let it warm up. When it was warm I gave it a couple of throttle wacks when all of a sudden I hear this horrendous sound of something breaking & metal crashing into each other plus water spraying everywhere!! I killed it & got out to inspect the carnage. The front end of the waterpump broke & sent that part of the pump plus the fanblade through my radiator!😢😢 Needless to say, but I wasn't able make the race. I also ended up losing the block over this. A few days later we had a freak ice storm that lasted for a week which was very unusual for where I lived in E.Tx. From my stupidity & sub-zero temps I didn't make sure all of the water was drained from the block. I thought that there wasn't enough water left in the block to do any damage. I couldn't have been more wrong. Like I said from my stupidity plus my age, laziness how cold it was the block was cracked so bad there was no way to salvage it. A few months later I sold the car to the 2nd owner of the car because at the age of 16 I couldn't afford to replace the block & have all of the machine work done to the new block that I'd done on the original block. To this day I wish I'd never sold that car!! I thought no problem I'll just buy another one one day. Little did I know what my future had in store for me at the time. I've nearly died 6 times, got married, we had twin boys that were born extremely premature & weighed 1lb.11oz. & 1lb.10z. They are an absolute example of miracles & blessings. They have had their lists of health issues due to being born so premature. Unfortunately at the age of 26 the smaller of the twins passed away after a sudden illness on 11/2/22. I still hold out hope for one day replacing that Camaro mainly because of how much he & I love that peticular year & how much we talked about one day building another one. One thing I've learned is no matter how bad you think you have it there is always someone somewhere that has it worse than you so you need to count your blessings & focus on them & try not to focus on the negative things in your life. I'm sorry this comment was so long & all over the place, but Robby & crew I want to thank you for the awesome family friendly content you put out each week!! You have no idea how much you help with your positive content to someone who may be struggling at the time!! Again, thank you & keep up the amazing work!!

Dang, Robby!! You had some kind of luck with King Fred! The bad kind! LOL!! But at least it's back to the shop and figuring it out will by much easier there. PLUS... you're closer to the parts store! LOL!! Good luck!!
The Robby Layton Crew have a gazillion Milwaukee cordless power tools (such as a GRINDER and a GASKET REMOVER) but they didn't take even one grinder with a wheel on it, a thin cutoff disc for it and two charged batteries with them...just in case they needed it to clearance, cut, grind or "sand" something like water pump bolts, a water pump housing or old gasket, a fan spacer, a fan shroud, battery hold down bolts, etc. They're funny because MOBILE USE is one of the biggest reasons and use for cordless tools. 😄😆😂🤣
I changed a water pump ina old ford truck and whoever before me had put some weird locking bolts into the block. They all came out but they were all on the verge of breaking. I was able to chase all of them and the were on it when I sold it years later.

Dang, Robby!! You had some kind of luck with King Fred! The bad kind! LOL!! But at least it's back to the shop and figuring it out will by much easier there. PLUS... you're closer to the parts store! LOL!! Good luck!!
Another great video 😊 Sorry for your luck with the water pump good luck in the future love your Channel !!!!!
That tracker needs a 1.9 tdi and sized up axles with lockers!
Thanks Robbie and Crew
The Robby Layton Crew have a gazillion Milwaukee cordless power tools (such as a GRINDER and a GASKET REMOVER) but they didn't take even one grinder with a wheel on it, a thin cutoff disc for it and two charged batteries with them...just in case they needed it to clearance, cut, grind or "sand" something like water pump bolts, a water pump housing or old gasket, a fan spacer, a fan shroud, battery hold down bolts, etc. They're funny because MOBILE USE is one of the biggest reasons and use for cordless tools. 😄😆😂🤣
Hey Robby, When you come to the fork in the road take it :p
That’s a great knife sheath I just got one from Lau Taubert, downtown Casper. That’s really similar.
Getter done.
This is great banter,
It's exactly what people want,
Giggling at stupid stuff that doesn't matter or hurt anyone 😂🤣💋🥇
I just hate days like that. But it does make for good content 😂
I changed a water pump ina old ford truck and whoever before me had put some weird locking bolts into the block. They all came out but they were all on the verge of breaking. I was able to chase all of them and the were on it when I sold it years later.
Gotta love how ford changes things mid year for no reason. You not only have to know what year but also what month it was made to get the right part.
Amen
Screw the 12 valve. Get a cat 3116 with a 1WM prefix on the serial number
OMG! The wrecker is the poster child for Ford. (Found on road dead)(Fix or repair DAILY)!!! The sooner you get the engine out of it the better off you'll be. Hopefully 🤞😅
