Darius you have nice upbeat videos. Keep up good work. As far as pick, I think very nice for 30 pick and Darius is correct, We need stay at home defensmen . We have Fox for offensive defenseman. The Panthers had a few good stay at home defenseman. Nice oick Drury
I don’t know about steal, I love my Rangers but people love to over inflate our draft and over blame our present. It’s a first round draft pick who may not even put on the crest. Time will tell, 3 years at best case scenario before it’s even a conversation.
When you pick this late in the first round you go for the best player available……doesn’t matter if he’s offense or defense. Hopefully he gets a season or two in the minors to develop.
This is a awesome thing selecting this player big strong and they'll work on his deflection to score. I have been saying this many years the Rangers needed two enforcers on the team to stop the bullying other players attempt on them.
Great Video, as usual, Darius. I think that My Rangers are now positioning themselves to get Jacob Trouba moved. Let me know what you think. PS. My Sincerest Congratulations to My Islanders Fans Friends & Kyle Okposo for The Stanley Cup Win (along with Florida).
@rman52 - EJ has a physical nature to his game. He needs to be developed and I bet Phil Housley can teach him a thing or two. He's a stay at home d-man that should be able to body big forwards and move the puck out of our d-zone. He's young, 18. Toronto was interested in him. Give him a chance.
@@tallgrayandgruesome I like the skill set. And he seams to have a good head on his shoulders. However he doesn't seem to be junk yard mean like a Tkachuk, Brakov, or Doty. Guys that like to throw football like hits on guys. Especially in the playoffs. Of course it's not his fault the Rangers haven't stocked the team with enough of those type of tough guys. And he was probably the best defensive defenseman at the 30th position. So it wouldn't call it a bad pick. Just one that didn't solve their glaring weakness in the playoffs against Florida. Hopefully those issues get addressed in some free agent moves and trades.
Tough and nasty can be filled by other means. You always draft for skill. Besides, a right shot d man is money in the bank. If need be, he’ll be an in demand trade chip. You use the draft to address the future, not the present.
Good pick, we needed a good physical Dman in the pipeline. I rather draft a good Dman than an average forward.
Also prevents the team from having to overpay for a d man in 2-3 years
We need To keep the puck out of the net when we are winning a playoff game with 5 minutes to go....this should help
Emery / Fortescue pairing in a couple years?

Buddy, this pick is a dman, not a fwd.... He's not going to be scoring any deflection goals. Go sit down and let the grownups talk.
He'll be Lingrens replacement in a couple of years

Could be a good top 4 guy, getting 20-30 points in his prime but being a shutdown guy
Great pick. No complaints. Western Canada toughness.
im kinda new to watching NHL, his GP is 39 and 27, was he injured a lot?
i dont believe so. in the lower leagues that the kids play in they usually play less games
What happened to needing big, tough, and mean to compete with Fla? He seems to be none of that.

He's a draft pick, not someone thats going to be part of the next year or two, which is the Rangers real window for a cup.

@@rman52you draft for the future, not the present. Florida may not even be relevant in 2-3 seasons, when Emery comes up.

not a fan of this pick, another stay at home d man.

This entire analysis sounds like a lot of empty word salad. We need tough and nasty. I don’t like it.

tough and nasty gets you banned at the 14-17 year-old level.
