im SO HAPPY i found you! ive been needing a makeup person in their 40s that does not look like they have had ALL the procedures done! a nice, middle age, average human like me!!!!
The best foundation reviews on TH-cam! I'm so glad that I found your channel because it has been hard to find influencers with dry skin. Thank you for trying this out!!❤️❤️
Your foundation reviews are always great - thank you for doing the close ups!! You noted the gathering around your mouth/nose, and I’ve found that with wearing masks the trapped humidity from breathing causes a lot of my reliable makeup to break up and gather strangely or just way more than it does without mask wearing. It’s basically like steaming your makeup!
I'm in the same place as you with concealer. I kept trying to force it and I finally thought; why am I doing this? I'm 40, there is no magic formula for my under eyes! I'll take a little less brightness for more smoothness, any day.
I'm 34 and still dealing with hormonal acne 😩 but this skin definitely ain't the same as it was 15 years ago. I feel you on the concealer. It's useless! I've learned to just accept a few red spots peeking out from a light-medium coverage foundation. Can no longer do full coverage without looking like a clown 😅
Don’t worry about getting older because you seem to be aging in reverse! You look great. I thought you already had your foundation on before you started. 😁
Thanks for the review as I love this type of lightweight balmish easy to use stuff. May I also add that you have the Best eyebrows! I'm in my 60's and grew up with a need to savage my brows which sadly never returned. Ah the '70s as a teen. Great review and you are a natural at this plus you have lovely skin.
In my experience, not inclusive. People from the fairest of fair, to the deepest skin tones, have cool, olive and neutral undertones. Orange-ish is available, 😂.
i also have flakiness between my eyebrows, so i exfoliate my face prior to putting my face cream and my balm! I love this stuff and i am 57! I think this balm is perfect for summer as it is not heavy at all!
I’ve really been enjoying this one. Anything heavy just shows all the texture in my skin, and this looks great with just a little concealer on my blue under eye circles.
I am happy I found you, I am a mature women with extremely dry skin, partly because I use retinals and actives. But I have always been dry😂. I have been on the hunt for a good foundation because my daughter is gettting married. IT IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED😮OH MY!!!!! So thank you for your channel and all your information and thought and time you put into your videos!!! Will continue to keep watching, I pray your channel grows and you are blessed as much as we are by you
I hadn’t heard of this one, thanks for the review. I’m not dry, but sometimes have flaking from Retin A, so don’t think it will work for me. I’m the same, I use foundation to cover redness and age spots. I’ve been using concealer as foundation and that works well for me.
I'm so glad I found you! I just bought this product and wanted to find reviews (backwards, I know). I love how you describe and explain the product, coverage, and usage. Subscribing!!
I tried this. I'm dry/combo and probably a shade lighter than you. I hated this initially but found a wide stipple brush applied lightly with little product worked best. You can't pile on too much otherwise it looks cakey. It's good for evening out the skin on an easy day but not good for layering or longevity I've found. It's also too dark/orange on me but passable if I'm just WFH. Wouldn't repurchase - agree with you!
I've been having some luck using it as spot concealer on no-base days so I'm glad I can at least use it for something but it definitely won't be a repurchase here either.
I thoroughly enjoy the L'Oreal Age Perfect line but I think I'll take a pass on this product. You got a good shade match but the texture isn't very smooth. I bought the Flower Beauty Heatwave bronzer a few months ago and am obsessed with it too. The perfect shade with a nice glowy finish. 😊 I also recently started using the Flower lip mask. It offers nice protection from cold winter winds.
You are adorable!! You have set the bar my dear and I am afraid that I am ruined for other reviews BECAUSE now they will have to contain a "Rahrrrr" with clawed hands for me to even consider comprehensive....PERFECTION!😘💐👑
I’m so glad you reviewed this product as I trust your opinion. I have dry skin so am not sure it will work for me and/or if it will be pale enough for me.
I was so excited to see this review! I had just ordered the tinted balm from Walmart and was crossing my fingers that it would work, so I’m super glad to see your review on it. I also do the same thing with my foundation and skip concealer all together if it covers enough.
To young viewers, take it from someone who lived in the sunlight during my prime years. Stay in touch with a Dermatologist. For sun spots, get them "frozen" off on a regular basis. Over time untreated, they get bigger and darker! Get a whole body exam yearly. I had like 7 cancerous spots. Glad they were discovered before they spread. My favorite "full coverage" was Ultima II Wonderwear. Discontinued some years ago. Never found an equal. Would appreciate recommendations for its replacement!! This L'oreal Balm appears really nice. I hsve very dry skin due to low kidney function . Thus, a good moisturizer is needed as well. Super dry skin. I'm 69.
Thank you for this review Shelly, I think I will skip this one. I can’t wait to see how you feel about the Charlotte Tilbury foundation 😊 I love your hair! 💜💜
They need to make more cool tone drugstore make up and blushes so us cool toned girls can wear make up You should do a video on makeup for cool tones and then one for warm and one for neutral....like a list of them so we have options
It was 12:52. It look ok but I'm not sure because I don't like flaky look. Maybe I'll give it a try and see if work for me. Blessing to you.🙏 Thank you.
I just saw this item at my cvs last night and purchased it cause I had a 40% off coupon (gotta love a bargain!) but had no clue what it really did. Thanks for the video. They didn’t have shade fair so I’m hoping the light isn’t way too dark for me. 🤞
I absolutely love your hair! The cut and color is perfect. Shelly, please test out the Primedation by Joah. I don't think it's sold in CVS yet, but online. It's really nice! Have a great weekend. Stay warm! ❤❤
Love foundation fest!!! If that is their shade Fair which is super warm/yellow/deeper, I definitely can't get away with that. But that darn Wet n Wild tinted hydrator is STILL one of my favorites Shelly. I laugh all the time that not many foundations beat it STILL 🤣
They do have a shade lighter, I believe it’s Fair 10, this was Fair 20, so that may work better for paler skin tones. I’m intrigued to try this. I will be 43 in June and find myself liking more lighter coverage “foundations” these days.
THANK YOU for trying this out. I always appreciate your check ins /wear testing. I thought it would cling to dry parts after it seemed to at the start. You have saved me money once again. : )
I've been using it as concealer on no-base days since it's nicely hydrating but I have had zero luck getting it work as a full face :( Oh well. At least I'll use it for something!
I just finished putting this product on my face and I love it! It definitely feels velvety and looks amazing! I have such a tough time finding foundation that matches my skin and looks really good and this one seems to be the one! Woohoo!
Thank you!!! I’ve seen people using this & just loving it!! I got the same outcome that you did!! It was terrible on me. I tried it with a brush, then with a sponge & my fingers… still it sat on my skin just like with you!! I agree with you TOTALLY!!
The swatch of the L’Oréal looks so orangey to me! Almost all drugstore is too yellow or orange for me as I have very pink, light skin. I love the L’Oréal ProGlow but it’s very warm toned for me. I might try this but I doubt that it will shade match my cool toned ass!
Shelly I know this is off the subject of foundation reviews but have you ever considered doing a video of your favorite bronzers? I couldn't find one on your channel. I too am fair to light skin with cool undertones. They skin tone colors you use seem to work well for me too. I refer to your blush favorites video often. Thank you
I have so few favorites that it would be a very short video! 😂 My all-time favorite shade is the Balm Desert. It's a little dark on me for the dead of winter but it's got just enough red to look natural on someone that does not tan. This Flower Beauty one I used in this video is a close second. I also like the L'Oreal TrueMatch Lumi Bronze It. The lightest and middle shades work for me. The Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Matte bronzer in the lightest 2 shades work for me as well. I like the Wayne Goss bronzer but it leans a little warm, but the contour shade in that same face palette is my all time favorite contour shade, so I do use that palette a lot - I think it's called light gold. It's the lightest one. I'm pretty sure that's the entire list of bronzers I like lol. OH and the Elf Putty Bronzers have some cooler toned shades that work for me as well, and the darker shades I like for contour.
After applying with my fingers, I pounce mine down with a sponge if it still feels like too much, or clinging. Otherwise I really like it on cold, dry days. For ref. I'm 62.
Good review on this foundation. I normally don't have flakey skin so I think I might pick this up as a supplement foundation for certain areas that might benefit from a balm.
I've worn it a few more times as lighter coverage without building it up and it does behave a bit better that way. So I do think I'll have a place in my rotation for this one.
i really liked this balm. it melted seamlessly but it def leaves finger prints and brush strokes. takes some time to blend. it’s also a bit dark on me initially going on but oxidizes a whole shade after a few minutes. it transfers too. but it looks exactly like my skin. this is more of a summer color for me. wish it was lighter!
Excellent for a wash of color. Please consider a tutorial on color correcting with maybe Dr Jart’s Cica Repair or of your choosing plus foundation. Gracias 😊
Green idea to use foundation as concealer. It melds well. And I think it’s more natural to not have super light underneath. I think too light ages people in a weird way. I know someone who got really white around their eyes as they age.
BTW: your makeup turned out gorgeous 😍. I've been wanting to try flower beauty. Natasha Denona is gorgeous but out of my price range. The lip bomb is stunning on you!
I remember that awful stuff. It looked like a mortician did my foundation. I had a really pale shade. Recall wetting it with a 🧽. It was pretty awful. 🤪
Shame about that one, it looked lovely when you first applied it. Would it be worth trying again when you're not flaking? Loving that soft eye look, really pretty. Can't wait to hear how the Ilios mirror turns out!
I just discovered this product today and bought it. When I decided to try it, I became stumped mainly because it's called a balm. There's no description on the jar on how to use it. So then I wasn't sure if it was meant to be used with primer, under foundation or used alone. Eek!
I'm so you feel that way. I just purchased it this past weekend and my skin looks flawless with it. Can you maybe try different primers? Also, I used a brushed, first just dabbing it on the skin and then using the brush to smooth it out.
I came to you bc I was looking at this online. I definitely have fine lines etc at 45, so I can relate. Did you use a primer? I know it says 4 in 1, but maybe it would make it better. I really wanted to like this one. Thank you for what you do. You are beautiful. Stunning! You seem like someone I would love to hang out and have coffee with! 💙 Love your page.
New subscriber. TY for this review. I'm 47 as well, although I will be 48 soon, and I have dry, mature skin. I was going to pick it up next time I went to town. I may still give it a try, but I'm not excited about the idea anymore. May I ask your ride or die foundations? Edit: 😂 You have freckles, too! I have always hated mine. I was bullied about the color of my skin and my freckles. The faux freckle popularity left me gobsmacked, except that it seems like people want what they don't have. Curly/straight hair, freckles/no freckles, hair colors, etc.
Welcome, Summer! Here's my foundation master list - basically anything with a grade of A I love, and A- and higher I wear regularly - though a few B+ foundations make it into my rotation (they usually have little issues like, too drying to wear in the winter but good in the summer, etc).
I was wondering when you were talking about what you didn't like about this one if it would be worth a shot for you to try it in the Summertime when your skin behaves better. I know and understand it is the Age Perfect line and it should work well on those areas, but maybe that would be a way for you to get use out of it. Or, maybe try applying it in different ways to see if that makes a difference... Glad you are finally replacing that old mirror😍😍😍
I’ve watched most of your videos and for the life of me I can’t remember if you have ever tried any of the products from Beauty Pie? I’ve seen a lot of videos about them lately and wondered if you have an opinion about them? Too bad about the balm. I giggle when you say micro wrinkles. Girl I’m only a couple of years older than you and I feel like I have CREVASSES!! 😂! So your skin is doing great with only tiny lines! 🙂
I know I'm late to this party, but I'm going to jump in anyway. I just heard about this stuff and bought it without realizing is is a foundation. Nowhere does it say so on the little jar. I thought I was just buying a cooling facial balm. I'm a lot older than you are so I have some sagging and wrinkles to contend with and because of that, I stopped wearing foundation some time ago. But this stuff seems to work for me. It does not collect in the lines like most foundations do and it looks pretty good on me. I do wish I had bought a lighter shade because Light 10 is too dark for me. I also wish it had SPF because I don't like to pile a lot of anything on my face.
What undertone do you have? I have a neutral undertone, and I'm super interested in this balm because the Loreal Age Perfect products are the ones that work best for my skin, but the serum foundation in Ivory is still a little too yellow/dark for my face.
The Kosas BB Burst isn't a balm but a super-easy finger-application type product. I also love the Jones Road What the Foundation, but I do usually have to set that one with powder as it's a little too emollient for me. So there's an extra step but not a big deal.
Great video, but I'm that the BALM didn't work out to look the way you wanted. I've missed bring online and Great to watch you again. Cute haircut, too☺ That was a generous grade something considering your satisfaction level with the BALM☺ I think it probably never did get to The Melting Stage, though.
Hi Jenny! I'll add that to my list to update (it's about time I do that!) In a nutshell - my evenings are pretty simple. 4 nights a week I use Curology (tretinoin, azelaic acid, niacinamide) and moisturizer, and the other nights I do the Lancome Advanced Genifique serum, Clarins Total Eye Lift, and moisturizer. In the mornings, I do Science Serum Tight eye a few days a week, then I alternate between the Lancome serum and the No7 Radiance vitamin C serum, then the Clarins Total Eye Lift, moisturizer, and SPF. Once a week or so I'll do an AHA/BHA toner or an exfoliating cleanser.
im SO HAPPY i found you! ive been needing a makeup person in their 40s that does not look like they have had ALL the procedures done! a nice, middle age, average human like me!!!!
I am in agreement 😊
Totally agree ... And she has the same skin type & challenges as me! I just love her attitude, she should have wayyy more subscribers, imho! 🥰😘😍
I totally agree also!!! This was my first video I have seen and I loved it!!!! I felt like my girlfriend was talking to me over coffee. Great job!!!!
I agree!! I love makeup and skincare reviews on TH-cam from real, everyday people!!
Yes! ❤
The best foundation reviews on TH-cam! I'm so glad that I found your channel because it has been hard to find influencers with dry skin. Thank you for trying this out!!❤️❤️
Can I just say it’s amazing how your channel has grown? I think you had 2k when I subbed! Love that for you ♥️
OG!!!
But what about the forehead? I wasn’t impressed there either.
I'm in the same place as you with concealer. I kept trying to force it and I finally thought; why am I doing this? I'm 40, there is no magic formula for my under eyes! I'll take a little less brightness for more smoothness, any day.
You have really beautiful skin without makeup . Thanks again for another good review ❤️
I hear you on not using concealer anymore, I'm 48 and I've found it just creates more problems than it solves these days !
Agreed!
The L’Oréal Age Perfect concealer is fantastic, very thin and doesn’t crease.
I LOVE WATCHING THE FOUNDATION FEST VIDEOS DAILY!❤❤❤❤
Me too.....love them! The *highlight* of any day! 💄💋❌⭕
This stuff made my skin look and feel amazing. I was so happy with it .
Your hair looks so perfect at this length and color....also I LOVE lash warrior
Don’t worry about getting older because you seem to be aging in reverse! You look great. I thought you already had your foundation on before you started. 😁
I wanted this Immediately when I saw the add. Very knoweledgeable Video.
L’Oréal really should improve their shade range. I’d love to try some of their foundations, but the lightest shades are so dark! 😬
I agree, especially their shade range of concealers. They are all too dark. 😐
And too warm a lot of the times.
In my experience, not inclusive. People from the fairest of fair, to the deepest skin tones, have cool, olive and neutral undertones. Orange-ish is available, 😂.
Agreed. I am going to give it a try, but I am concerned that it will be too warm and too dark. I'm pale skinned.
There is a fair 10 in addition to the fair 20 tested
i also have flakiness between my eyebrows, so i exfoliate my face prior to putting my face cream and my balm! I love this stuff and i am 57! I think this balm is perfect for summer as it is not heavy at all!
Wow Shelly! That balm is a perfect match. I’m so glad you’re back to posting. 💕💕
I’m so glad you reviewed this, I was wondering about this makeup
I used it without a primer and loved it .
I’ve really been enjoying this one. Anything heavy just shows all the texture in my skin, and this looks great with just a little concealer on my blue under eye circles.
I am happy I found you, I am a mature women with extremely dry skin, partly because I use retinals and actives. But I have always been dry😂.

Exactly. 🐇❤
It's definitely holy grail status, that Wet n Wild!!! And I absolutely love the shade Fair.
There is a lighter shade in the balm , maybe it wasn’t out yet when this was posted?

The new CT just arrived and OOOOH I need to go check out this Nars!!!
The swatch of the L’Oréal looks so orangey to me! Almost all drugstore is too yellow or orange for me as I have very pink, light skin. I love the L’Oréal ProGlow but it’s very warm toned for me. I might try this but I doubt that it will shade match my cool toned ass!

Try with a light dab with a sponge then apply! I feel like fingers just rub products into the dry skin and make it worse 👀🌟 love your channel!

Flower Beauty has been ROCKING it this past year or so! And I adore Drew Barrymore :)
Your hair looks so pretty Shelly!
Really pretty looking 😁
Back in the day I used max factor pancake foundation.... this reminded me of that .... for me a C at best! And that was on YOUNG skin!
I remember that awful stuff. It looked like a mortician did my foundation. I had a really pale shade. Recall wetting it with a 🧽. It was pretty awful. 🤪

It's definitely got more potential without flaking skin. So far I am in LOVE with the mirror!!!!! Thank you!!!
Happy Birthday Shelly!
Love the hair!
You're a good cat mom. The balm looks good on your skin,
Your hair looks cute!
Amazon has it in shade Fair 10. I ordered light 20, but it was too dark. I ordered light 10 instead.
Super excited to see what u think. I bought that primer as well. Woohoo!!😊
You are going to LOVE the Ilios mirror. I bought it when Jen first mentioned it. It is awesome!
So far, totally in love!!!!!

I've grown to like this one a little bit more so long as I use it for very light coverage.
Was hoping this would work out. I need something to moisturize and lay down the retin a flakies.
Thank you for a good review🙂 I’m wondering if it might be a good product to have in my handbag to touch up my nose where my foundation always wear of🤔
You have really pretty skin without a dab of makeup on. Thanks so much for sharing. 🍭🎀🍭🎀
I think it will definitely work better for any time or anyone with no flaking going on!
Your hair cut!!!!!! You look so cute with short hair. xoxo
Great video, in depth description helps. Ty
Can’t wait for the CT review! 😸
LOVE your hair
Thank God someone over 40 has reviewed this 🤣 Its geared towards us but the 20somethings are hoarding it
I immediately clicked. You look like someone who's Real. Not filtered and procedures done etc
Welcome, Izzy!! =D Real and real nerdy here! 😂
You have great skin
What undertone do you have? I have a neutral undertone, and I'm super interested in this balm because the Loreal Age Perfect products are the ones that work best for my skin, but the serum foundation in Ivory is still a little too yellow/dark for my face.
I'm neutral to a tiny bit cool (basically a tiny bit cool in the dead of winter and just about neutral the rest of the year).
I’m sending the Charlotte Tilbury back…. It’s a no for me! Will be curious what you think!
Shelly have you found a better tinted balm for us to try? I need easy like this ❤
The Kosas BB Burst isn't a balm but a super-easy finger-application type product. I also love the Jones Road What the Foundation, but I do usually have to set that one with powder as it's a little too emollient for me. So there's an extra step but not a big deal.
How did it hold up on your undereye? Maybe it'd be a good light coverage concealer.
It wasn't bad under the eyes. I do like the hydration. It may stay in rotation for that.
Thanks 😊
Great video, but I'm that the BALM didn't work out to look the way you wanted. I've missed bring online and Great to watch you again.
Cute haircut, too☺ That was a generous grade something considering your satisfaction level with the BALM☺
I think it probably never did get to The Melting Stage, though.
I love your videos. Your skins is pretty much like mine
Do u have an updated anti aging skincare routine? A.m. and p.m.?
@@goow thanks!!! Can't wait:)
