UPDATE: Now that the seats have been dyed for a year, I can give you guys a complete update. Fading - The car spends most of the time outside in direct sunlight, and I haven't noticed any fading. Smell - The initial smell when we first dyed the seats only lasted about 1-2 weeks, and then went away. It helps to let the car "air out" by sitting outside in the sun with the windows down. Texture - When we first sprayed the seats, the fabric had stiffened up a little bit, and felt more coarse. After a year of sitting in the seats they have softened up, but still feel a little stiff. Although that is to be expected when you're essentially "painting" the fabric. Paint Transfer: I've never had any of the dye transfer onto my clothes or stain anything else that I've placed in the seat. Also haven't had any paint rub off of the seats. Overall I'm happy with the results of the dye, and it has held up great after a year without any issues.
Thank you this is most helpful. I am wanting to get grand marquis seats into a crown vic but the seats are tan and the car is black leather and I thought to myself can I paint the seats? And voila this video answered my question. Thank you again
I tried it. It's very stiff at first and it does stick to clothing like Velcro, however, it softens up the more you sit on it. Areas that you don't touch, like the back of the headrest, will remain stiff.
I Just use that paint on my golf cart seats Do I need to put something over it? I did it in white and it looks so good . Thank you for the great videos.
Hey, I’m just curious would you recommend AGAINST doing this without removing any parts? I wanted to try it but without taking anything out, I’m scared of breaking things lol if I just cover up important stuff with tape/bags?
what is the use with the brush done for? is it to help saturate the fabric fibers more thoroughly during the "painting" process? i noticed with the back section especially that the color immediiately deepened when getting brushed on.

The only problem i have with this stuff is that it makes the fabric stiff. It almost acts like velcro if you wear cloth shirts.
Joe Gooderz I was wondering about that.
Maybe that’s why he was brushing it? I mean, I don’t know but maybe?

How did the seats hold up? Did any paint rub off on your cloths?
It’s held up fine, no issues so far.
What about the smell. How long did it take and what did u do to get it to go away.
Maurice Dupree i heard it takes a week
Please will the spray be ideal for a 2008 Toyota yaris brown fabric car seat to black with fading and staining in clothes?

I'd recommend removing the pieces you're wanting to paint from the car. Once they're out it's much easier to work with.

Yes, it gets the paint down into the fabric and keep the material from getting stiff once it dries.
Keep up the good work 👌
Is recolouring interior especially seat covers long lasting? I think, the new colour will start peeling off in a few weeks. Am I right?
No. I painted my carpeting black and has lasted about 2 years with minimal fading in the area we step on.
What kind of spray paint that you use
It's been 3 years now how is it doing???
I don’t have any new updates. The car was sold, and I’ve moved onto the next project. Seats were still holding up great when I sold it though.
How many cans did it take to do the whole seats?
2 cans
Was that the gloss black??
Yes, it was gloss
Update now
im literally doing this to mine lol
We can I get that spray from plz?
I’ve got it linked in the description of the video
Has tan interior
nice
Does the color transfer to the clothing?
No, never had any issues with the color transferring onto my clothes. The paint worked great!
How did the color hold up?
well see you got in a hurry paint one direction brush the opposite not back and forth ….
anyone know how itll work on "leather" seats
better to dye it
You wasted tape. Grocery bag and tape would be better.
does it really matter?
