Me too man! I come back to these videos all the time. I just made daddy Jack's 5 minute chili recipe the other night and it was delicious. I wish the guy was still around. He seemed like such a genuinely good guy.
*I made this at home for my family on Christmas and they loved it. Three of them had heart attacks within 24 hours but everyone lived and I will make it again next year.*
My mom used to make this for us back in the 70s. It's sad that we lost Jack this past year but a blessing that he made all of these videos. What a great person. I wish he had put together a recipe book, I'd buy it. RIP Jack.
these videos have such a crazy 90s vibe around it - no phones, no skinny hipsters, no coffees and brownies, just straight up greasy cooking in the kitchen in the back of the restaurant. amazing!
Its nice to see what an authentic chef looks like on Camera, not some food network nonsense. I respect what you do sir, great work. Nothing brings people together like good food. Period.
My grandmother was forced to raise 3 young daughters, my mother one of them, alone during the depression when my rat bastid grandpa ran off with the neighborhood trollop. She made dozens of meals with a pound of ground beef that would feed her family of four. She would flour hamburger patties, fry them and make a cream gravy and serve it with mashed potatoes and pulled biscuits. This is damn near her recipe. Thank you for sharing. You never disappoint, Daddy Jack!
OMG. What a great childhood memory- many years ago. My mom (RIP) was a great cook. She did so many of your recipes. I am waiting on chicken, noodles and dumplings.
Man this breaks my f****** heart. I'm going through and watching all of your videos all over again just in case I missed one. Rest in peace legend. You probably don't even know how many people You healed with Just your food.❤❤❤❤
no i wouldnt say that to his face. what i would say is how can a cook not wash his hands once during this process having touched all this food BARE HANDED. and everyone here saying WOW HES SUCH A GOOD CHEF .... bull shit. no self respecting chef does what this man here did
The reason I enjoy this channel is because Jack is just using what he's got and what he knows. No recipe, he's just has an image for what he's going for. And he's honest about what could be tweaked.
Love these vids. This guy is obviously the type of man who wants to care for everyone around him but cant take care of himself. I notice they havent uploaded in a couple years. Wouldnt be surprised if Jack is dead by now. If you're still the same man do what you can to get healthy. I've seen what happens first hand and we need men like you to keep living so get healthy man.
I cook this dish a lot, it's quick and filling. My husband comes home a lot at lunch time and something like this is for sure a welcomed thought for lunch. I love cooking a meal like this and knowing it can be done in less than 20 minutes at most! TFS y'all!
worked in Texas when I was young. This looks good but I used a buttermilk batter to coat my chicken fried steak and then double breaded it...served with white cream style gravy and side of jalapenos.
Daddy Jack, I miss you buddy. Never had the grace to meet you in person. Such a wonderful human. RIP and let God protect your girls and family members. We'll all meet one day onthe other side. Set some tables for us!!
Just found this channel and Daddy Jack made a MEAN Poor Man's Chicken Fried Steak! Just made it for the first time and will never look back. Time to explore all of his recipe's! RIP Daddy Jack
@Joker Toker wow strong counter. I see your semantics are as good as your knowledge about food, chefs and culinary things. I suppose that is due to your extra chromosomes.
@Evan Kline Thanks. Good info and perspective. I was talking more that if he is working with food, he should have learned to use the dracula cough avoidance method, instead of his hands. :-)
Never could handle HOT food or real spicy food but I would like to try what you make just once. Love top watch you make it all look so easy. I cook for me and my great grand kids. No where as good as you. Thanks for great videos.
I grew up here in the south eating "fried steak" this way, my Mom always used hamburger meat instead of cubed steak which is usually tougher. It was so good!
Thank you for the video. That spatula looks exactly like mine. I inherited it from my grandpa and he used it in ww2 on a navy ship. It's just funny searching for a meal he used to make me I see the one cooking utensil I leave on the counter 24 7 to remind me of him.
God bless this guy rest in peace. I just ran into his tap on TH-cam. I like his cooking old-school cooking when I was growing up. I still do it now and then this is how you cook
I made this yesterday and cut it in half, took half to eat while watching tv when I came back for seconds the other half was gone. Thank you chef for sharing the recipe.
Would love to have tasted that ! I live wayyyyy down in Northern Mississippi but would love to come eat at your place ! Just don't have the funds.... I watch your vids and you seem like a great person. God Bless You and keep on Cookin !
I'm a new fan. Tonight I'm trying this recipe because all I have thawed is ground beef. I love your recipes and I can tell your a man who loves what you do! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, he's got the technique, and ground beef as the steak could work, but to get the real deal get a thin cut of round steak and tenderize it yourself with a water glass upside down smashing into it over and over until it is paper thin. Takes a long time but that's how my granny did it back in the depression. No Short Cuts. Also, for the gravy don't use real cream, try evaporated milk instead. That's poor man's chicken fried!
