      Been married to a Filipina that I met in the US for over 3 decades. I do appreciate the family orientation, traditional marriage and socially open culture. It’s so easy to make friends and there is a Fil/Am subculture in the US that’s a lot of fun. Our son is married to a Filipina that he met in the states also. So now we are starting to have some great adventures because of a significant network in the Philippines and US friends that we’ve met up with over there.

    $35K or P2M is about right as a starter home with 4 walls, roof and foundation. It will be a work in progress and that's teamwork reno and that I think can feed into a closer relationship.
    That being said, they'll slowly do further finishing. ie wall finishing maybe using stucco outside and panelling inside, painting etc. Things will be added as needed accordingly and when financially feasible.

    hmm, building on rice field (agriculture) zoned land. The land is 1200 sq meters, itself is most likely part of a "mother" title and it will be next to impossible to separate out. Go to the local Municipality and start to figure out the property records and deed so you can get the land re-zoned and straight so you have no issues down the road.

    • @LawrenceWeber-z5o
      @LawrenceWeber-z5o 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      yup, not smart to buy land unless you are certain that clear title can be obtained. My wife and I (yeah I know) own several properties here and had to pass on so many "good" deals because there always ends up being title issues. Currently buying in dnr area. Tax dec in hand and working through all the details.....it's complicated here

      @AaronSmithski 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Midwest10 Pretty sure they're saying 'car' as in 'vehicle'...which would include trucks and suvs. The average vehicle price in the US as of October 2024 is $48,397 according to Google. If you searched a little deeper you might be able to find 'car' (as in 2 and 4 door vehicles that aren't trucks/suvs...sedan/coupe) prices are much cheaper, but I couldn't determine a price in 2 minutes of looking, so I'm out. 🙂

    Perfect young couple with little visible age gap and she's has education to boot (teaching license coming up? ) and he has the farm and street smart. He's the king and she's the queen both will be breadwinners - with humps along the way. Farming certified organic veggies and meats supplying new age restaurants in Kalibo and Boracay. Big market there. Eco tourism is also perfect providing realistic country life with farm animals and agriculture as staycation AirBnB-ish primarily for foreigner digital nomads or exotic wedding venue with easy access to Boracay and northern Iloilo white sand beaches. Similar to nearby (15 mins) Chole Camp and Cafe and Chateau Resort also in Balete/Banga. Entrepreneurship (joint venture ?) with social media marketing is the key.

    Hey Mike , honestly if he finishes this house in 2 months , I have to see it to believe it. $35,000 US dollars. For roof and walls i would believe , but all finishes kitchen bathroom etc. Your looking at 30k pesos per m² for a basic home. Then you have cost of furniture, for pool if it's done properly your looking at 1million pesos. So I think he's looking at min 5 million pesos complete about US$100k not $35k . Tgsts not including the pool . depending on the level of finish When he is complete with the material /labor ,mistakes ,and hidden expenses it will be more than 35 k in my estimate. Since he can never legally own this home, he is building it for her. This is a very generous act by what seems like a decent guy. But let's be honest with each other... it is not his home. He has permission to stay there for now.

    I love the province area but at least need to have cement roads somewhere lol. We have cement sidewalks in our village, no roads. The only way to get into our village is by boat. That's going to be a great house.

    This is why I also want to find foreigner wife. They are creative people. Especially the Chinese and the Japanese. We also have a vacant piece of land back in our province and no one from our family knows what to do with it since they too don't want to sell it. But I think an American or Chinese wife can make it into something because they are creative people. Hope this American dude find his fortune in that place in the days to come.

    is there a follow up video, see hundreds of videos starting a house, and about 1 or 2 percent have follow ups of a finished house. Sadly it doesnt end well most of the time. Or entirely over budget. So many angles to navigate from all sides. Seems like a nice guy, hope it does end fairly well.
