    Thank you so much for the great video. It will help me tremendously when I do oil change on my CX-5. One thing I'd want to strongly suggest is that you'd want to have a secondary support device in case of ramp failure. At least a floor jack supporting the front end of vehicle or jack stands preferably. Thank you so much again. Liked & subscribed.

      do you only need 1 floor jack or one in each side? trying to change my oil myself on next PMI

      i have both, just got some ramps, so i have jack, stands, and ramps now

    The only thing I do different is I pull the oil filler cap once the oil starts draining to speed the process along. Great video

    I'm one of those OCD people who leave the drain plug out for a few hours until there's not even a scent of oil left 😂

    Actually, there is a transmission dipstick. I've changed my transmission twice and it is covered by the airbox intake (easy to remove to gain access to the dipstick). The dipstick is secured with a 10mm bolt.

    Does having the car on-ramps prevent it from draining all the oil out? Shouldn’t the car set level when draining?

    • @that_jamesguy
      @that_jamesguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nope. The oil plug is at the back of the sump, so ramps makes it drain better.

      @@that_jamesguy THis is the reason I came to watch this video! My MX-5 drail plug faces front and ramps prevent full drain.

    So how many quarts if not 4.8 like 6 ???

    • @toddzino58
      @toddzino58 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mine takes like 5.2 quarts to get to full line. 5 quart jug takes it a bit over half way on dipstick. Like he did in video, fill it with a 5 quart jug. Let it run a bit. Check for leaks. Shut it down after a few minutes. Check and fill to full line.

    Hi Mate. How do you find the turbo and engine running on the Mobil1 ? Do you notice any difference in the drive ? Engine noise ? Performance ?
    Thanks mate.

    • @that_jamesguy
      @that_jamesguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. Oil is oil. The only difference between good synthetic and junk non-synthetic is how quickly (in miles) that it starts breaking down/losing viscosity/properties. With new oil you will never tell the difference - junk vs good.

      About 6L. It’s weird and doesn’t make sense. A bit overfilled now. I think these need to sit off/drain for 15 minutes before checking the level. And wait 5 minutes after top up.

    • @CodeMonkeX
      @CodeMonkeX 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Agreed. The manual says between the lines is normal 5 quarts got me right in the middle. But it does also say if it’s low (around the min level) to fill it too max. So a bit confusing. I am not going to buy more oil just to get to the max line, I think it’s un needed.

    There is a transmission oil dipstick. Its just a pain to get to. All the turbos from Mazda need 6 quarts......5.1 quarts doesnt cut it. Mazda got that completely wrong. Great vid btw....👍

      i agree, with the non turbo too it says 4.8 quarts but i had to put more like 5.1-5.2/3 ish, its pretty disapointing they got that wrong because even though its been like 6 weeks since i did the oil change, no lights, no issues, im still paranoid that i did it wrong because they oil dipstick is also veyr hard to read on a mazda, esepcially also cuz its a new car with only 5,000 miles. and it doesnt help that tthis was my first oil change
